Three years before Serenity Adams was elected sheriff of Blood Rock, she worked the beat in Indianapolis. Among her many arrests, she was instrumental in putting a deranged, yet highly intelligent, child killer behind bars. Now that the murderer has escaped prison, he has only one thing on his mind—to find the woman who captured him, and make her pay.
"I loved joining Rose and Noah during their journey in the Temptation series by Karen Hopkins."-Katie McGarry, acclaimed YA author
Karen Ann Hopkins resides in northern Kentucky with her family on a farm that boasts a menagerie of horses, goats, sheep, peacocks, chickens, ducks, rabbits, pigs, dogs, and cats. Karen rescues and fosters a variety of pets and farm animals, but she also finds time to give riding lessons, coach a youth equestrian drill team, and of course, write. She was inspired to create her first book, Temptation, by the Amish community she lives in. The experiential knowledge she gained through her interactions with her neighbors drove her to create the story of the star-crossed lovers, Rose and Noah.
Karen grew up about a mile from Lake Ontario in Upstate New York. She was bitten by the horse bug at the age of five, and after diligently taking riding lessons for several years, she was rewarded with her first horse at the age of eleven. The feisty horse's name was Lady, a Quarter Horse-Thoroughbred cross, who became Karen's steadfast companion. Through the years, the constant force in her life was horses. Eventually, Karen found her place as a riding instructor herself. Before accepting her fate in the barnyard, she worked a short stint as a paralegal, traveled abroad, and guided tourists on horseback riding tours in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
Karen is currently working on her two interconnecting mystery/crime fiction series, Serenity's Plain Secrets and Possum Gap, along with several new projects.

La storia si svolge lungo un periodo di mesi, cosa che è già strana di suo, ma alla fine sbuca fuori un aspetto paranormale-religioso che mi ha lasciato un pochino interdetta. Mi piace il nuovo carattere materno della protagonista, però.
Years back when Serenity Adam's was a beat cop in Indianapolis, she helped capture Arthur Jaworski who was convicted of murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.
Fast forward to the present day. A tornado strikes the Indiana State Prison. Eleven inmates escape, ten were recaptured. The one inmate still missing is Jaworski.
Serenity comes close to recapturing him again, but he got away again, but not without threatening Serenity and her family. Jaworski is intelligent and cunning, so even if no one else shares Serenity's fears, she knows he will strike agqin.
Some months pass without any sign of Jaworski, and everyone relaxes a bit. Then three days before Christmas, Serenity's mother-in-law and daughter go missing. Serenity is positive it is Jaworski, but where did he take them and can she find them in time as the weather is bitter cold and it is snagain.
Read to find out the end of the story and the twists in the plot.
Not much originality in Blood Rock. Danger lurks, and Serenity is nice again in emotional and physical al peril. Hubby Danny Boy is his usual nothing but Serenity’s worrying mother type. 🥱 Predictable down to when the evil one will strike.
But heck I’m the silly one who keeps reading them. The next adventures of Serenity won’t be able nail winter 2021/2022, maybe I’ll find another series that is clean.

Skimmed it. Almost too violent and predictable.

Karen Ann Hopkins has crafted yet another book that is almost impossible to put down. Serenity Adams becomes more aware of the power the Amish people have and share in strange and mysterious ways. I'm beginning to think we could all use some of that in our lives. Thank you Karen.
And this one didn’t disappoint. Serenity Adams has just gotten off one case and now she’s faced with an old nemesis. There are drug addicts in some of the abandoned buildings in downtown Blood Rock and somehow they may be linked to Alexander Jaworski, who has tried to kill her once before. She’s determined to get him this time.
The character of Serenity seemed more believable in this book. She is finally showing more realistic emotions of a wife and mother. I hope the author continues to soften her character in future books!
Book #11 of the Serenity plain secrets series. One of my favorite Authors and definitely one of my favorite series to read. To say I'm hooked is an understatement...I seriously feel like I know all of these characters personally
I like it is in a series so you are familiar with the characters. Like that shows the Amish in a positive lite and how well communty gets along. Was sorry killer got away but happy he was eliminated in the end
Interesting situations leading Serenity to solve a crime concerning those close to her. Great suspense novel. A page turner. Loved it along with all the novels in this series.
A bit of Serenity as back story from Indy gives me a background for this 11th book in the series. Even there are more that have been published I take my time before starting the next one of the series. ,
Ok, but not as interesting as the other Hopkins books. Serenity was in the other series, so thought I would try it. Got about halfway through it and returned (from Prime Reading). Will try her other books since I liked the first series.
A great series. Lots of excitement both from the English and the Amish. Great stories filled with the life of Amish differ from the English with great characters both good and bad
The personal element in this story took the character in a new and better light. She was vulnerable and even more determined at the same time. The best was she was the ruthless as never seen before. I can way to see hoy this experience change her. I really hope the writter take thus to a whole new level.
No way-out-there plot this time. A man Serenity helped capture while she was a cop in Cincinnati is in the loose and while everyone believes he has fled to the west coast; Serenity knows he will come for her and everyone she loves. He told her that and the man is evil but smart. This book had you wondering when. Will someone have to die before they believe her?
I reported a typo near the end of the book. Seems like I always discover one or two typos in her books. Makes me want to be one of her beta readers.
