“I feel the love when I hold her. I feel it spreadin’ all over. There’s nothin’ that I can’t do.”— Asiahn Being the middle woman has somehow become Chauncey Granberry’s role. The curvy creator stands in the gap between her students and education, occupies the space between women and the custom lingerie she crafts, and she’s shamelessly become rooted in the grasp of an unhappy man. Growing weary of feeling boxed in, Chauncey agrees to a girls’ night out that she isn’t convinced will spark an essence of freedom. Yet the discovery of something life changing and the presence of the ‘middleman’ triggers a chase she’s unable to avoid and may conjure sentiments she’s unable to categorize. Quentin Moore has been put in a bind. Assumptions and expectations have driven him away from home, and a successful real estate company has consumed too much of his time to nurture old wounds. Still, being his brothers’ keeper, the middle Moore sibling has been asked to put his business on pause and return to brittle roots and more responsibility than he believes he can handle. However, a night at the strip club he doesn’t want to operate and the mischievous actions of a beautiful stranger could transition his feelings of loneliness to an emotion he’s ignored for too long.
I will need to dive into this author's catalog more because this book was everything. I love Chauncey and Quentin. The vibe and chemistry are my largest attraction to this read. The way they fell in love felt authentic and I hate to be greedy but I would love to hear more about this couple. Well done.
1.5* I’ve been on a black romance reading binge (mostly CCJ and Alexandria House). I am always looking to discover new authors and stumbled upon this book through a Goodreads recommendation.
Yeah no, this was a miss for me. This book made no sense to me on so many levels. The female protagonist was honestly the most immature and senseless character I have come across. From knowingly dating a married man and being surprised by the outcome of that decision. To picking up a duffel bag filled with serious cash, that didn’t belong to her in a strip club whose owner had just been arrested. I don’t know, I found it difficult to root for her...she wasn’t in need of love, nope she needed therapy. Ooh but wait, then the male protagonist threatens her (like with an actual gun) to retrieve the duffel bag that she stole. And then you add two crazy exes on both sides. The dramedy!
I just couldn’t root for Cee Cee and Q’s “romance”. Nope, nope, nope. This plot was dysfunctional.
I also didn’t enjoy the writing so I’m unlikely to read any of this Author’s other books unfortunately.
This read was amazing …Quentin and Chauncey seemed like the perfect enemies to lovers read.. I’m glad that Chauncey was able to break through Q’s icy exterior. I believed that they both needed each other to make changes to their futures marked by the past. Amazing read Tucora never disappoints and I can’t wait to read what’s next
Yes! Yes!! This was such a good read! I loved the confidence that exuded from Chauncey. In the beginning, I thought she was going to be broken but she bossed up real quick!! And I was drooling over Quentin, from the description alone! Lol! These two had chemistry that wasn’t forced and they fell in love with each other. Finally, Chauncey and Quentin found love that wasnt toxic or stagnant.
This was the first book I’ve read by the author and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the storyline and loved the relationship between Chauncey and Quentin. I definitely would read another book by this author.
3.5 ⭐️ Quentin and Chauncey’s relationship was cute! The way it started was interesting, after finding out Chauncey was a theft. I guess it helped out that Quentin liked her before she stole from him 😬. Overall, there were some great messages attached to this book, the ones that stuck out the most were forgiveness and living with choices! However, I feel that it was missing something & it could have been longer. The end left us completely in the dark as the reader!
This book was everything I needed and more!! I absolutely love how Chauncey and Q vibed! I’ve never would have thought he would have turned out the way he did! If you love a good love story that’s gonna have your wanting more thief I highly suggest you grab this book and read it!!
Oh-kay Queen Tucora! This book was good front start to finish. That storyline was needed cause women have insecurities especially when it comes to it appearance/body. Folks love throwing shade at BBW🙄 Chauncey & Quentin both had issues that stemmed from their childhood that they were still dealing with in adulthood. These two connection was beautiful and I enjoyed reading about their journey to love. If a "ain't ish ninja was a person, it would most definitely be Taylor. Kelly🙄 she was beyond trifling. Quentin did not play about his family, Chauncey included. That fill was ready to take Taylor out😂. Although I was upset about the ending😒, I'm glad these two were able to compromise and live their lives in LA.
Chauncey and Quentin meet on a night out. Chauncey is trying to cut loose after getting out of a mess, and Quentin is trying to take a breather after coming home to fix a mess. Chemistry is there, but then something pops off and Quentin leaves something valuable in Chauncey's sight and she takes it.
Okay, so let me say that I thought their chemistry was pretty good. I love Quentin's commitment to his family, the way he dug deeper with his father, his misgivings about staying home or going back to his business--so many great layers. I also loved Chauncey's complicated family relationships, her sister's support, and her role as a teacher, plus the pop of drama from her icky married ex and his wife--gave her good layers as well. I said all that to say, I think that was enough without adding her taking that bag to the story. It was a plot point that stuck out like a sore thumb. It didn't fit that she would do that, or that she was dumb enough to think no one would know. That part didn't hit like I thought. But I liked the book.
Chauncey and Quentin were goals!! Chauncey was in a relationship with a man she shouldn't have been and after bring lied to for the last time, she finally called it quits. Quentin came home to help his brother family when needed. Meeting one night at Quentin brothers club, Chauncey and Quentin meet and hit it off and made plans to leave together until an incident erupted and everyone left running, but Chauncey took a parting gift. When Quentin found out who Chauncey was, he went to get back what she took. Seeing that they had feelings for each other, dinner together turned into spending time with each other, that turned into more. This was a great story of finding love when you least expect it. Chauncey and Quentin made each other feel something that no one has ever done before. They both gave each other what the other needed. Tucora really knows how to tell a great story and this one didn't disappoint. Great read as always!!
Q was a bachelor and preferred it that way having encountered women that didn't really want him, but instead more of what he could do for them. He was living care free with a flourishing career until his family needed him. He was forced to return to a home that he really didn't want to return to. Chauncey was a teacher and lingerie designer that was recently out of a bad relationship, but was ready for the next phase of her life. She was hesitant, but felt a beautiful connection with Q. They moved quickly but it felt right to both of them. Q was all in before he verbalized it, but he knew he wanted her to be apart of his life. He struggled to figure out how he was going to make everything work. I liked them together, but Q had some toxic tendencies that had me on edge. I enjoyed the read though.
Quentin was most definitely book bae. He came through for his brother, sister-in-law, the kids, and eventually Chauncey. This was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love when not only the man is a boss, but the woman is as well. Through all of Chauncey heartaches and the trials she still followed her dream and passion.
I was glad that Quentin and Chauncey could be of help to each other. They both needed to experience unconditional love and they fortunately provided it to each other. Quentin working on his relationship with his father was priceless. It was a hard hurdle to jump put they started the healing process.
This is a magnificent book and I am hoping that Gabi gets to tell her story. I think she would have a great story to tell. In the meantime, I highly suggest downloading, relax, and enjoy this intense romance.
What a whirlwind of emotions this took me through! Chauncey was having it bad from the very beginning! She was a good woman, who just got caught up with the wrong man! Q, was a man about his business, and making a name for himself. Being called back home to take care of family, caught him off guard, but he did what was necessary to hold his brother down. Meeting Chauncey was magical! They had an instant connection, and you could feel the flames ready to ignite! They both had some residual trauma from the relationship with their parents, that shaped the way that they live their lives. But they both were very intentional, and forthcoming with their feelings and expectations. Hope there is more to their story, as I would love to see what the future holds for them. Good read! 👍👍👍
I enjoyed the plot of this storyline, but there were a few things that bothered me. I didn't like how everything went down with Chauncey. I understand having a character grow into a better person, but I feel like her choices and the consequences made it hard for me to see her as a favorable character. I also noticed a pattern of Quentin being taken advantage of. Between the situation with his dad, brother, and 'ex' he didn't seem like he stood up for himself. He also hinted at being overwhelmed with everything he had going on. I wish there would have been some pages spent on him receiving some support and standing his ground with those situations. Other than that it was a good read. Glad they got a HEA.
This book was definitely a page turner from the moment Quentin layed eyes on Chauncey. I felt the chemistry radiate from these two to the genuine love that was developed in such a short time. They both knew what they wanted and went after it. From Quentin loving her curves and all to her imperfections and past mistakes to Chauncey peeling the layers of toughness and loneliness and teaching him how to communicate with each other. They're love was genuine and heartfelt ❤ I definitely recommend giving this book a read you will not be able to put it down!!!!
I loved the relationship between Q and Cee Cee. Their connection was intense from the first meeting. I loved the plus size, black educator with a sexy parting hobby happening. I didn’t love that nigga Tyrone popping up every 15 minutes and at the most inconvenient times. I mean everyone and they ma was tryna test these people 🙄. I was irritated for them. Even though this book is short it was really entertaining and impactful. I wish it was longer or that we get more about Quentin and Chauncey in the future. I loved this they were too cute. Hooray for black love 🖤❤️🤍!!
I could not put this book down! Quentin and Chauncey had an instant chemistry that was undeniable. They both had sooo much going on in their personal lives and so much emotional baggage that anyone would understand their hesitancy to trust, love, believe, hope etc. Nonetheless, when they tapped into their love languages and cleared the air, they couldn't help but fall head over heels for one another. My only complaint is that this book ended. I would love a spinoff, part II or something--please!!!
Chauncey was an interesting read for me due to her being a lingerie designer and she was a curvy woman. So I like her character based on that along. Chauncey's luck with men seemed to suck in the beginning along with her being a fool for love or convince. Tyson was a piece of crap and I wish he would have got his block knocked off. Lol. Now Quentin was a piece of work also but he wasn't half-stepping while he was with Chauncey. Now when he had to leave I was upset about how he was treating Chauncey but it all worked out. Loved their story.
The story was going along well and the the last chapter just came out of nowhere and then the book was over. It was like a hit and run accident. It felt like the author had a midnight deadline that she needed to meet and didn’t realize it until 11:55 pm the night of.
And no reputable teacher would date a “current” student’s parent and they would absolutely be expected to come before the board if they were posting lingerie pics on the internet. That “morality” clause will get u every time.
That was not enough, I need more of Q and Cee Cee! Their individual stories were amazing, regardless of how they chose to navigate through it all... But their story? It was beautiful! I can always appreciate a story about a beautiful black man and a gorgeous plus sized chocolate woman! Surely there will be a part 2 to this... The author did a wonderful job, pen wrote pure fire once again. I enjoyed every page!
I love this love story between Quentin and Chauncey and they intrigued me on a different level. This is my first time reading for the author and with her incorporating the love language aspect was a plus and will make my decision easier to pick another one of her books. And last but not least making a plus-woman as a leading character is always a win in my book I appreciate you stepping out of the norm to create such a beautiful Chauncey. Great job!
Chauncey Granberry is not perfect, she has some dirt in her life. For that she feels she doesn't deserve the best in life. In helping Quentin deal with his family issues she begins to see her life in a new light. The author has not only given us a story about us Big Girls but made Chauncey a champion for us providing cute and sexy intimate garments just for us Big Girls. So when does the come out???
This was my first time reading a book by Tucora Monique and I must say I’m hooked. Quentin and Chauncey’s love story was great. Most people would have never followed what their inner voice was telling them after the mishap that occurred when they fist met, but they went with the flow. Honesty, forgiveness and compromise led them to love. I hope there is more to the story of Quentin and Chauncey by way of a sequel.
This was a nice story of forgiveness. Chauncey had to come to terms with a few things so she could move on with her life wholeheartedly. Quentin was a hard man, but he could be soft when it came to Chauncey. He was an excellent uncle and brother.
I was disappointed in the ending. There was no mention of a follow up to this story. Therefore, I felt were a few things which could have been mentioned in the epilogue.
Hmmm 🤔, what happened to my original book review ⁉️ …In the melodious words of Ms. Stephanie Mills “I Feel Good All Over” 🤭are the sentiments of Chauncey & Quentin’s characters in “You Make Me Feel”. This novella was a great read and amazing story fortitude in the midst of chaos, lies & drama. Nonetheless, I adored the physical attributes, ambition and compatibility of both Chauncey & Quentin their unconventional journey through the initial introduction phases skepticism, infatuation, romance & forever love 🥰‼️…I’m feelin’ these two, and it feels good all over😉💞🤭‼️
Really enjoyed this Love story. Chauncey was in a place many women have been in with Trenton. I loved Quentin from the beginning and I knew that beneath his frustration was a beautiful heart. I really loved seeing things come together and redemption and forgiveness being in place
I’m all in my feelings. I hope we will hear more from this couple in another book. I’m a sucker for an alpha man lol. So many ebbs and flows in this book about the relationship between a man and a woman that really taught me some new lessons.
The couple was magical in the way they connected and found their groove. I love a man who can change for the right woman, to be the man he was destined to become. Quentin was a hard-nosed good guy deep down, with a huge heart. Chauncey was fan girl material for me. Together, they were relationship amazing goals.
This was a really great story on finding love when you don't expect it. The attraction between Quentin and Chauncey’s was instant. I loved the level of open communication they had going. Overall their story was refreshing and left me wanting more. This was my first read from the author and certainly won't be the last.
