Elmerah has escaped the emperor, for now, but she cannot escape herself. Charred corpses haunt her dreams. The power within her feels like a demon lurking, just as dangerous as the real demons flooding the land.Saida has her army, an army she never wanted, but if the Makali can help her save Faerune, she will guide them with the light of Cindra. Her only fear is that she will lose herself in the process. That she will become like Malon, blind to the repercussions of channeling the power of the gods.As these two unlikely friends race to reunite, the Empire descends into chaos. Egrin Dinoba will see a new realm of demons, and no Shadowmarsh witches, nor elven gods, will stand in his way.

Egrin Denoba the emperor, is a demon and Elmerah, Saida, Alluin, Isara, Killian, Rissine and Zirin had plans to kill him, but Egrin was powerful and had already decimated half of Faerune also killing Saida's mother. Now Saida, the moon priestess, was travelling with Brosod, a desert huntress and Malon an elf in search of Elmerah. Saida and Malon wore the twin circlets of power, the Crown of Arcale and that of Cindra. Saida could travel the dream world and she did this to locate her friend. Once they were re-united they travelled to the city to confront the demon himself but they were separated during a storm and Isara and her brother daemon, could not be found. Rissine and Zirin were captured by the Akkeri, and the high king Hotrath, made a pact with Rissine and offered his army in return but would she betray her sister or her friends? It would not be the first time that she did that, and she was not loved for her betrayal. Elmerah felt that apart from Alluin she could not really trust anyone but knew she could not kill the demon by herself. She was ready to give her own life to rid their world of Egrin. This battle between our group of unlikely heroes and demons is a fight between good and evil and Elmerah proves to be a real kiss ass heroine. I really enjoyed this jam packed with action book and look forward to the next in The Moonstone Chronicles series.
One battle is over but another begins, I did wonder why everyone still let him wear the crown plus she did not need him to wear it to build water and plants. He also acted like he was king, big red flag. I enjoyed the journey but I did find anything to do with him maddening. Sorry don't want to give spoilers. Lots happen many battles I liked the slow burn love interest friendships first. The mystery of the healing cursed friend makes me wonder he confessed he feels for the priestess (you just get the feeling he will be a good looking prince to match his heart when curse is fully lifted) this book ends on a cliff hanger for the priestess.
I have read four books into this series so far so I will do a quick review of those together. Honestly, I have had a great time listening and reading this series. I do wish the last three books had audible editions but even so, reading them is going to be enjoyable anyway.
I am curious to see where it leads and I kind of love that it made it seem like one character was the big bad but really, he was almost what I would consider a distraction from the real shit storm coming. Time will tell but I am definitely interested to see where this goes next in book 5!!
Just Wow! What a story. And just when we thought good stuff would happen for the group, they were thrown for a loop and now anything can happen - literally! I was a little surprised with Elmerah and Alluin but the previous stories did elude to that outcome I imagine the next books will explore more of Elmerah and Rissine's relationship. I think this story really encompassed everything you love in a great story: heroes, intrigue, love, mystery, betrayal, war and magic. Excited for the next book!
Elmerah, Alluin and their allies and friends are separated but all are determined to confront and kill the demon king. Not everyone can be trusted and they are all hiding secrets. All parties will find their way to the capital eventually but can they really kill the demon?
Exciting adventures full of action and intrigue. The storyline is awesome, and the characters are easy to follow. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
Totally enjoyed each book, each character and storyline. Keeps you enthralled and you can’t help but to binge read. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is into witches, elves and adventure.
