Who would have thought that pretending to be in love could feel so real?
Ivory Tower is the successful owner and CEO of an online dating service who prides herself in matching her clients with their true love. Everyone except herself. When a TV studio wants to spotlight her company live on air, Ivory runs into a problem; she can’t produce the boyfriend she needs so she doesn’t look like a fraud.
When Li Qiang, her ten-years younger and toe-curling handsome intern, offers to pose as her boyfriend, Ivory thinks her problem has been solved, but it’s going to take more than the perfect algorithm to get out of this situation. Li Qiang is too easy to love and too hard to forget, and the question remains; does he really love her or is he only playing his role?
Dating the Intern is an age-gap romantic comedy that will make you smile, break your heart, and then make you believe in love all over again.
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis is a fun RomCom with an age gap element, humour, romance, emotion, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. I always enjoy Ms. Reis’s stories, and this was a particularly fun read. The story is fairly light-hearted and sweet- which proved to be a great palate-cleanser for me after quite a few ‘heavier’ and ‘darker’ reads. A single matchmaker, a fake relationship, an age gap, wonderful characters, and plenty of giggles makes for a really fun read!
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis is a sweet rom com where there is an age gap between the characters. Not that that stops the fun. I really enjoy Natalina’s stories because they are fun, sassy, sexy and an easy read. They are easy to get lost in for an afternoon of peace and quite and a glass or two of your fav beverages. She needs an instant relationship to make her look good for her dating company and he is an intern and happy to help. What ensues will make you laugh, swoon and barrack for them.
This was such a fun rom com to read! I had a blast reading it, and I had more than just a few moments where I laughed as well as smiled. The story and the characters were more than just engaging. And between the two main characters there was more than just them, it was their family as well that greatly impacted who they were in this story!
Ivory is basically someone powerful and successful in her career, but still she longs for the acceptance of her father. Sadly, I think even she knew from the start of the book that earning that respect would be hard to come by in more ways than words can express. Throw in Li Qiang her intern who is younger than her agrees to pretend to be in love with her in hopes to win over her father at long last. He lives in a different world than she does family wise. He seems to always have had the love of her family and when the two individuals get together with his family its sheer bliss and I think Ivory saw this is something she wishes she had all the time. As love stories go, you can only pretend so long before you begin to catch real feelings, but how can you be sure the other is as well? And how do you know when its not just pretend anymore? Matters of the heart do tend to be questionable at times, doesn't it?
The story was full of so much happy feelings at times and a lot of love as well! The novel was a quick read as I got very much invested in the characters and I kept hoping they would find what they both deserved, but maybe even knew they wanted in life! It was a care free read, and the author gave us as the readers, a fun read, that was more than enjoyable and I surely enjoyed it till it's final page! Wonderful read!
Natalina Reis writes in a way she has you feeling for her characters. Her novel Dating the Intern appealed to me in ways I enjoyed, but also brought up memories from a painful past. Don’t let that deter you though, just keep in mind it could be a trigger warning that’s all. Li Qiang is such a sweet and selfless character who would do anything for his boss, Ivory Tower, since he’s been crushing on her for a long time. A character I grew to love and rooted for as I got deeper into the novel. Ivory on the other hand drove me crazy, but I feel like that was more on a personal level vs how the character was written. I’m Ivory through and through. I may not be a business owner but that’s the kind of abuse I suffered in my past from my father, which makes it hard to accept love today. Though a novel about a fictional romance, it made me take a deeper look at myself and how I’ve overcome the same obstacles in my life. I know this review sounds really sad & depressing but it’s not meant to be that way. It’s meant to just describe how Natalina’s novel impacted me emotionally. It’s not very often I get that emotionally invested in a work of fiction, but in the end I LOVED IT!!! If a writer can have you connect to their story in such a way you evaluate how you handled things, doesn’t that make them a GREAT writer. Was the story a trigger for me, slightly but I’m glad I read it then reflected upon my life. If you’re looking for a story to emotionally impact you in such a way you evaluate life, TRUST ME when I say you NEED to read Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis!
This story was everything that I didn't know I wanted. I love watching rom-coms and reading YA or supernatural types of novels, but this book was perfect. It was a light read that made me cringe, laugh, and smile with my whole heart.
Ivory Tower is a successful businesswoman who is running her own dating service. She has a not-so-great history with her father and looks down on herself because of this. She is obviously a beautiful soul inside and out, but I think that we can all relate to having someone or something in our lives that makes us feel less than we are. So, what is the big problem? She isn't dating anyone herself. Network execs want to do an interview with her and her "beau" and she agrees without thinking it through! Thankfully Li-Qiang (our hunk of this story) is an amazing intern and offers to fake a relationship with her - for the sake of the business and her reputation, of course.. This story has everything a wonderful light romance comedy needs: flirty looks, learning to stand up for yourself, a surprise reveal, a nosy family, and a whole bunch of laughter. Ms. Reis did a fantastic job with this story and I look forward to reading more from her! Pick it up. Enjoy the read. You won't regret it!
Ivory owns an online dating site with a personal touch. With a high success rate, she is about to be featured on the local news station and they want to meet her significant other. Except she is single but who will trust a single match maker? Her intern LI steps in and pretends to be her other. This is no hardship as he easily wants more with her. The problem from Ivory's side is that he is younger than her and she is so lacking in self-confidence and belief that she doesn't believe that she is worthy of love. With a father who takes every opportunity to belittle her and put her down, it is not surprising.
Li's patience and understanding, whilst showing her compassion and being there for her helps with her own self-confidence and belief. Ivory is so desperate for her father's validation that will never come. Whilst I understand that her relationship with her father has greatly impacted on her, there was lots of repetition in her statements that were frustrating to read.
This was an interesting read - I loved Li's family and hated Ivory's father.
Dating The Intern by Natalina Reis is a brilliant book that will really keep you absolutely enthralled. This is quite a short story but is one that is full of romance and sweetness. This author really does know how to create a brilliant story that pulls readers in and makes you fall in love with the characters. I don’t normally like books where the male character is younger than the female. I find it normally feels forced and unbelievable and I find myself growing bored of the story. However with this book I was completely sucked into it. I engaged with the characters and I really grew to love them both. The only thing about this book that I found myself cringing at a little was the name “Ivory Tower!”. I thought it was a little cheesy and a bit off putting. However it doesn’t detract at all from the story or from how much I liked Ivory. This author has really become one of those that I don’t hesitate to pick up her books. Most of the time now I don’t even read the description, I just go in blind and see where it takes me. I have never yet been disappointed. Her books are always well written with fantastic storylines, this been no exception at all! I would highly recommend this book.
I was pulled into and captured by this beautifully written book by Natalina Reis. It’s a Romantic Comedy that touches on dealing with trauma and with verbal abuse. I normally read more fantasy/syfy type books but this one caught my attention and held it. This book was funny, sweet, sexy, and just full of love. Ivory Towers is a successful business woman who runs a dating company but has a hard time with finding love herself. When the opportunity comes to promote her business by letting the world see she not only gives great advice but lives by it as well she freaks out and accepts the help of a very attractive intern -Li Qiang- who has been watching her for quite some time. What started as a fake relationship to save face really blossomed into a very real love story. I will be quick to pick up another book written by her, it’s been so long since I enjoyed a romance like this. Also her use of Mandarin words and phrases throughout the book was such a great way to bring the character to life.
This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. Her books pull me in from the first word and they are written with a lot of heart. This book is no different. This is a fun romance story that is shorter but it packs a punch. The characters brought the story to life and they are connectable. They made the story engaging and easy to read. I read this book in one sitting as it is that fast paced. The author’s use of details gave the story a realistic feel and I had no problems feeling I was right with the characters. This is a story about Ivory and Li. Their growth and chemistry just adds to the story. Their story is one of love and emotions. What will happen when Li says that he will be Ivory’s pretend boyfriend? This might solve her problem but they may just get more than they expect. I loved them and what they brought to the story. I highly recommend this book and this author
This was a fun romantic comedy which takes you in from the first page. The story is fast paced and keeps you guessing. The author does an amazing job with her characters making them relatable and likeable. You could actually imagine yourself in those situations or you know a friend who's like that.
Ivory is a successful business women with her own matchmaking business. She has loads of successful matches however the only person she can't match is herself. Now a TV company want to interview her about her success and her significant other. Now Ivory is stuck. If she admits there is no other half she risks her business but what is she to do.
Then in comes her Knight in shining armour in the shape of her intern Li. Ten years younger than her and absolutely stunning he would be the perfect candidate to be her pretend boyfriend. But when lines get blurred they discover its hard to work out what's pretend and what's real.
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis is a romantic comedy for people of all ages that will make you laugh, cry, and believe in love all over again.
Ivory Tower is the successful owner and CEO of an online dating agency that takes delight in finding genuine love for its clientele. Except for herself, everyone. Ivory has a dilemma when a TV studio wants to feature her firm live on television; she can't find the boyfriend she needs to avoid seeming like a fake. Ivory thinks her problem has been addressed when Li Qiang, her ten-years younger and toe-curlingly beautiful intern, agrees to masquerade as her lover, but getting out of this position will need more than the ideal algorithm. Li Qiang is both easy to love and difficult to forget, and the issue remains whether he truly loves her or is just playing his part.
I loved this story. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book that I read by this author and I can't wait to read more.
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis is a romance filled rom-com with just the right amount of drama. It is very unique compared to other books in this drama because the main character, Ivory, is very flawed which makes her all the more real and likeable.
Ivory is the CEO of a dating company but with no love of her own. When she gets offered publicity, it is brought to her attention that if she doesn't have a SO, it looks bad. Li, Ivory's intern, offers to be her fake boyfriend to the public.
Ivory struggles with very low self esteem, stemming from an emotionally abusive father. One element of this book that I really love is watching Ivory grow into her own and battle her flaws head on.
The author uses a lot of food metaphors. I would suggest not reading this book on an empty stomach or you will be drooling and starving by the end of it. I sure was.
This is a new author for me but based on the title and book cover I was pretty sure that I wouldn’t be disappointed. And I was right. This turned out to be a great romantic comedy. I laughed from the beginning chapter right up until the last page. Her characters were so warming and inviting, and she really has a way of writing about family dynamics that if like me, you find yourself wondering if this is your family. I wondered at times of some of this was based on actual real-life events because she did such a beautiful job describing what was going on. I felt like I was watching it all unfold before my very eyes. I can certainly say that she has quite a way with telling stories that made me laugh so hard I cried. I promise that this will not be the last book I read by this author. I look forward to many more.
This one starts out with a premise we've seen before - for one reason or another, a woman finds herself in a bind due to a little white lie that snowballs quickly. Ivory, matchmaker by trade, tells a reporter doing a feature on her business that she has a boyfriend, and now needs to find one PDQ! Enter sexy young intern Li Qiang, who volunteers to fill the role and save her skin, and hilarious hijinks ensue. Ivory is a tad on the clueless side, and seems to be unable to assess the information in front of her as to whether or not her burgeoning real feelings for the intelligent faux beau are reciprocated or not. Putting that aside, this story does actually go to some interesting places emotionally, adding some depth and shadow to the pairing that is pretty interesting. The book is romantic, whimsical, and sultry with some nuance to the characters I found entertaining. A good read.
This book was a great read. Ivory Tower owns and operates a dating service. A local news station wants to do a story on her. She agrees and learns that they want to interview her SO. Only she doesn’t have one. Then one of her interns offers to be her fake boyfriend. Li Qiang is quite handsome. Ivory is attracted to him but what would he want with someone ten years his senior. Li Qiang has his own reasons for wanting to help Ivory. Could their fake relationship turn into a real one? This was a sweet read. I felt for Ivory when it came to the relationship with her father. Li Qiang helps Ivory realize that she doesn’t have to let her father talk to her like he does. Great job Natalina. I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to more books by Natalina in the future.
This story is good although not one of my favorites by this author. The story moves along at a nice pace and the characters are very down to earth. I just really struggled to feel the connection between these two characters. At times it would show up with his character but hers it just never came. She is a successful owner of her own company who has a lot of inner turmoil and hidden issues. I was just surprised someone who built their own company would act the way this character does.
I really enjoyed his family and her friend they were all good secondary characters. The younger brother added some comic relief to the story.
Overall I enjoyed the characters and the issues that were brought up are very true to form. It moves along and has a nice flow.
Loved it! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie book Blog. I love to read stories from Natalina Reis. This story is about Li and Ivory. Ivory owns and operates a dating service. A local news station wants to do a story on her and her partner. But the catch is she's not dating anyone. That's when one of her intern Li deicides to help her and become her fake boyfriend. I love how the characters are so realistic and down to Earth. Can this fake relationship be something more? When does the lines between fake and real start to come together? you will have to get this one for yourself. Can't wait to read more from Natalina. Keep up the amazing work.

I thought this was such an interesting, cute, intriguing, and engaging story. I always like to see if the first line really draws me into a book. That really sets the tone for me. With this story I was not disappointed. From the first line of the book, I was hooked! It was just so good! The rest of the story did not disappoint either, it kept its tone from the very beginning for sure! Natalina Reis is an author to look for in the future. I also loved that the author added a bit of a personal touch at the beginning with a forward, a guide to dating vocabulary and the Mandarin words and phrases used. That was a really nice touch.
Dating the intern by Natalina Reis is such a fun and inviting read. It would be easy to read in one sitting as it draws you in and keeps you waiting to see what happens next! I laughed, I cried, I giggled like a little school girl. Ivory Tower is a successful businesswoman who runs a dating service. When a television appearance featuring her own love life is offered, she must quickly come up with a plan to make her nonexistent love life exist. Li Qiang, a much younger intern, offers to pose as her boyfriend. They must then get to know one another and make their fake relationship believable. This romantic comedy is a perfect book for anyone looking for a light and uplifting read!
This was such a fun read I absolutely loved it. I loved the banter between the characters and I loved that it was such a light hearted read, such a pleasure to read. I have read books by this author previously and I’ve really enjoyed her writing. Ivory was so great to read about and Li Qiang was such a lovely person. I really enjoyed reading about them together. The secondary character sin the story were really good too and definitely added that extra layer to the characters’ lives. Overall, a really fun and refreshing read and one that I would highly recommend! I can’t wait to read more from this author again!
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis 4 out of 5 Stars Dating the Intern is such a sweet book. I loved Ivory and Li Quang. I loved the relationship they had before, and I loved the relationship it developed into. Ivory is a CEO of a successful dating company and Li Qiang is an intern in her office and is nearly ten years younger. When a mishap with the local TV station occurs, Li Qiang offers to pose as her boyfriend, believing it will solve all the problems, but it may just cause more. This book was beyond adorable, and Reis is an incredible author. The only thing I wish I had more of was learning more about Li Qiang’s success and why he was an intern. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
This book was so much fun to read. Something light is just what I needed to read and this was perfect. Ivory is a successful business woman that owns her own online dating company. She helps find love for everyone else whom become her clients except for herself. Li Qiang is one of the interns at Ivory's company and 10 years younger in age. When a TV station would like to feature Ivory and her company and get to know her on a more personal level with her "boyfriend" there is one issue....Ivory does not have a boyfriend. In comes Li Qiang to the rescue. Can they pull off their fake "relationship" or does it turn into something truly real? I loved this book...definitely worth the read!
This is the first time I've read anything by Natalina Reis, but I will definitely be searching for more! Dating the Intern is a feel-good, rom-com that also includes an element of emotional abuse. This element of realism made me fall in love with the character Ivory all the more! Despite her battling demons in her head daily, Ivory slowly begins to overcome her past to live and love in her present! Ivory's handsome intern, Li Qiang, offers to help her out when she's in a bind, but their chemistry for one another is hard to resist! Natalina Reis delivers with laughter, love, and a whole lot of heart!
Dating the Intern is Natalina Reis' new romcom, and my new favorite book of hers. She is one of my go to authors. I like her writing style, and her attention to details. This book held my attention from beginning to end. My emotions were all over the place with this one. My thoughts are that it is a great book, if it makes you laugh out loud or sob like a baby. This book did both. Ivory and Li-Qiang are great characters with some hot chemistry. This book was just what I needed to de-stress for a few hours. Looking forward to reading more from Ms. Reis in the future.
I was thoroughly absorbed in this magnificent book. Every chapter was so good I kept reading until I read “The End”. I loved the storyline of pretending to be a boyfriend to Ivory Towers but that’s just the beginning. There is so much more, with an age gap that Ivory thinks makes a difference but dies Li Qiang? Is he faking or not?
Chinese hold their family close to their hearts , when Li Qiang’s family meet Ivory there is love and laughter, with so much more it made me cry very happy tears. Ivory’s family? You need to read to find out. I absolutely loved this book I do not hesitate to recommend this awesome book. So many hilarious moments—
Dating the Intern was an adorable RomCom by Natalina Reis that I was enthralled with the moment I picked it up. This book pulled me in the moment I met Ivory Tower and her fake boyfriend Li Qiang. I was cheering on their fake romance and hoping for much more from them. Li Qiang was the perfect boyfriend in every aspect he shielded her from the harshness she was dealt from her horrible father and helped her with dealing with the TV show. In the end she really won with him. I can not wait to read more of Natalina's books.
Book Review: Dating the Intern Author: Natalina Reis FOUR STARS This is a charming fake boyfriend romance that of course has a happy ending. Ms. Reis weaves a wonderful story about a dating service and how Ivy gets selected by a TV station to promote it. Having been put down and insulted by her Father her entire life, Ivy has self-esteem issues and finds compliments hard to accept and believe. Li Qiang is one of 3 kids and has found himself in love with Ivy. The difficult part is that he is an Intern and she owns the company. This book is sweet and endearing. KLH
I absolutely enjoyed this book! I was engaged from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down. As a 37 year old woman, there was a lot of relatable ideas to the main character, Ivory. I will say, I am fortunate to not have the confidence demons that she has and I got so frustrated for her trepidation throughout the book.
I liked that the story was light and moved smoothly. The plot kept moving and all of the details were relevant to the story. I would definitely read more books by this author!
Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis a light-hearted and sweet five-star read. I enjoy reading this author, they always have a fresh twist to what ever they write, and I enjoy the writing and the story. It was fun, watching what started as fake and just something to keep others happy ended up showing a much deeper happiness. This has some great characters and set ups, these story is deep enough that you feel the connection but not so deep that you get bogged down, if you are looking for light, funny and charming then this is for you.
