It's just before Passover, and Shira, a young weaver known for her talents across Jerusalem, wants to do something special for the Lord Yeshua. She wishes she could join the crowd in singing and praising Yeshua as he rides into her city on a humble beast of burden. However, she is mute, unable to speak. Instead, Shira offers the work of her hands and presents an incredible gift that is more marvelous than anyone could ever have imagined. And through her good deed, Shira receives a life-changing gift. In this relatable, heartwarming story for children, The Wordless Weaver presents the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus through the eyes of a child. Filled with beautiful original artwork, this picture book shares the good news of Easter in a way that children will love.
A new and unique perspective of the Easter story told through the eyes of a child that teaches us the silent gifts we bring to the foot of the cross yield blessings through Christ’s resurrection.
Shira is a young talented weaver who cannot speak. She waves palms for the promised savior when he arrives in Jerusalem. She longs to praise, to sing, to pray aloud with her family and others but she has no voice. Instead, she pours herself into her talent of weaving beautiful linen cloth. When news of the crucifixion arrives, she hurries to silently weep at the foot of the cross. In the end, she offers her silent gift for his burial which yields her a beautiful blessing upon the resurrection.
Rich, vibrant colorful illustrations and beautiful prose. Beautiful!
I enjoyed the style of art, although it was a tad uncanny at times. The story itself say a little poorly with me because the only thing the girl wants is to no longer be mute.
