There is nothing better than a group of interconnected books all using a terrific Chocolate Shop. After all, it is a substance automatically paired with romance. In 2016, I started reading this series released by Tule Publishing and having each book written by a variety of different authors.

It really worked on so many levels due to experiencing each of the authors' unique styles and the feeling of comfort knowing the location and hub of the series for the reader. It was a pleasure to read.

Now you have three of the books written by Melissa McClone together under one cover.

I gave it this rating because they were three stories. The problem I had with them is that they were all similar in story line and substance. The main characters weren't looking for marriage or happily ever after. There was a lot of head (or thought dialogue). I would have liked to see different story themes between the three siblings. I struggled through the three stories and couldn't wait for the book to end.

I may try one more of Melissa's books and I hope it will be more real in character and plot.

A Thankful Heart - Love at the Chocolate Shop Book 1

Dakota Parker works at at Copper Mountain Chocolates and volunteers at Whiskers and Paw Pals animal rescue in Marietta, Montana. She's fostering two dogs and a rat at the moment and has also written a proposal to get all the animals adopted by Christmas. The rescue director Lori Donavan thinks it's too simplistic and the timeline unrealistic. She put a lot into that proposal so Lori's words hurt. An interesting twist to her day is when a stranger comes in refuses the sample and claims he doesn't like chocolate, yet purchases some of the top sellers. The man was gorgeous but paid cash so she couldn't learn his name from a credit card.

Bryce Greyson has come to town to help his father and stay until after Thanksgiving. He's hoping over that time to convince his father to move to Seattle. He doesn't like being so far away from his father and now with those two broken legs it proves his point his dad shouldn't be alone.

Dakota was stopping by to see how Walt was doing and bring him some chocolates. That's when she first meets Bryce recognizing him from his stop at the chocolate shop. It's while they were all talking that Dakota gets an emergency call from the shelter. A pipe broke and they need to get the animals out. Walt wants to go but Bryce and Dakota both squash that idea and instead Bryce would be going to see what he could do.

Of course Bryce sticks his foot in his mouth yet again. It's a habit of his.

In spite of his father's protests, Bryce still insists Walt would be better off in Seattle.

He gets talked into helping Dakota in redoing her proposal to meet the requirements of a challenge set by a very generous donor and even helps with the set up of the adoption events.

These two have chemistry but there's a lot to overcome for a happily ever after.

The Valentine Quest Book 2

I purchased this as the Parker Family Trilogy and I'm reviewing them individually.

I realize these are holiday based but I was in the mood for sweet. In this one Nevada Parker has come to Marietta, Montana for the quiet of her sister Dakota's home and town to finish her dissertation. She's also teaching three days a week in Boseman. She's bringing Dakota her boots, since the weather report was wrong again, when she manages to slip. A man helps her up but her glasses are smeared and she can't see him. He hands her a handkerchief to dry them, tells her to keep it and leaves after ascertaining she's okay.

You'll recall Dakota works at Copper Mountain Chocolates and as Nevada drinks her hot chocolate, a man enters. Now he recognizes her, but she doesn't him, because her glasses were so smeared. Dustin introduces himself and the conversation turns to the upcoming Valentine's Quest. A surprise all inclusive vacation to Fiji is the new grand prize and the quest has been getting more interest.

Dustin is entering the Quest, he wants the vacation and is determined to win it. Nevada decides the vacation would be perfect for her brother York, as he leaves the Air Force and transitions to civilian life. What Dustin and Nevada don't expect is that the other contestants are couples which puts them as individuals at a disadvantage. It's then Dustin comes with the idea to partner up until the last challenge.

Now these two are very different and as partners that does work. Neither of them has any intention of falling in love. But you know how that goes.

Lots of fun, with laughter, tears, both happy and sad, plus the romance.

The Chocolate Touch - Book 3

York has just come back from the wonderful vacation in Fiji that Dustin won in 'The Valentine Quest'. Before he moves on to the next phase of his life as a consultant he's spending time with his sisters Dakota and Nevada. Always willing to lend a hand, he's helping Dakota with chocolate samples and serving the signature hot chocolate at a book signing.

The author of the book, Chantelle is signing her latest book 'The Chocolate Touch' and she plans on visiting and sampling Sage's chocolates at Copper Mountain Chocolates.

She's getting some of those treats at her signing, but she needs to check it out closely if she's going to recommend her Uncle Laurent pursue obtaining the recipes to add to their line. She's also hoping that her Uncle will finally put her in the position of Chocolatier at her family's business Delacroix Chocolates. Little does she know that relationship will threaten everything she's worked for.

What starts as simply helping out becomes more when Portia goes into labor and the chocolate shop is short handed. York steps in along with Chantelle to take care of the customers while Sage and Dakota take care of Portia.

Now while I'm pretty sure Chantelle isn't doing anything underhanded, it is very close to the line.

Then there's also the sleuthing York's doing to discover the anonymous benefactor.

There's ups, downs, twists and turns as this story unfolds and romance blooms.

The Parker Family Trilogy: Love at the Chocolate Shop by Melissa McClone is a compilation of the stories she wrote for the Love at the Chocolate Shop series. Each of these sweet stories features one of the Parker siblings, their lives in Marietta, Montana and their struggles to find love with “the one.”

A Thankful Heart features Dakota Parker, Bryce Grayson and the healing power of a foster dog. Dakota has been too busy mending her broken heart, working her job at the chocolate shop and finding forever homes for her rescue dogs to focus on finding a man. This allows her to indulge her love of chocolate and receive the unconditional love she craves from her foster dogs. Bryce, a Seattle architect, is in Marietta to help his dad recover after he fell off a ladder, breaking both of his legs. He doesn’t understand the appeal of a small town and is counting the days until he can return home, with his father in tow. That’s the plan, until Bryce meets Dakota. The more time the two spend together the more he wonders if he should abandon his plan and move to Marietta; still question if he could be happy living in a small town.

The Valentine Quest, the second entry, features younger sister Nevada Parker, a grad student, Dustin Decker of the Bar V5 ranch and their participation in the first annual Valentine Quest. The quest has the participants performing physical contests as well as service orientated activities. Nevada and Dustin team up to win the prize, a grand prize of a trip to Fuji.. As these two participate in the events they end up sharing tidbits from their past as well examining their own actions and beliefs.

The Chocolate Touch, the third story, features older brother York Parker, blogger Chantelle Cummings, and an unexpected connection. York is in Marietta visiting his sisters after leaving the Air Force and before he begins a job that will have him travelling the world. Dakota puts York to work covering for Rosie at Sage’s chocolate shop. Chantelle is in Marietta to promote her book and research Copper Mountain Chocolates, but once she is done she will move to France to work for the family’s chocolate company. Neither one is looking for a long term relationship but like the taste of chocolate, one never knows what life will bring your way.

Ms. McClone is a wonderful story teller and writes wonderfully sweet and moving stories with authentic characters that are not to be missed. I highly recommend The Parker Family Trilogy to other readers.

The Parker Family Trilogy: Love at the Chocolate Shop is a collection of the three stories written by Melissa McClone for the twelve book Love at the Chocolate Shop series. The three stories center around siblings Dakota, Nevada, and York Parker. Rumor has it… that their names are connected to the locations of where they were conceived. It’s up to the reader, believe it or not.

A Thankful Heart is the wonderful story of Copper Mountain Chocolates employee Dakota Parker, who has a heart of gold for everyone… two and four legged. Dakota loves Marietta’s rescue organization, Whiskers and Paw Pals. When disaster strikes the rescue, her friend Walt Grayson comes to their aid. Against his will, Walt forces his son from Seattle, Bryce to help too. Bryce wants his father to leave Marietta, but that isn’t happening! Before long, neither does Bryce want to leave Dakota. Is his father actually correct? Is his future in Marietta with Dakota? A Thankful Heart is a heartfelt story that will make the reader love Dakota & Bryce, Walt, Marietta, chocolate, and a posse of four legged heroes!

The Valentine Quest is the opposites attract story of studious Nevada Parker, and rodeo/dude ranch cowboy, Dustin Decker. Fate throws them together, competing in the Marietta merchants’ Valentine Quest. The Valentine Quest is a week-long event… a Marietta Olympics if you will. The team events include physical tests, games, and community service activities. Quickly, the defensive layers of Nevada and Dustin start to peel away, and the exposed layers are very attractive. They’re both very caring people. Will they realize that they now care for each other? Sage, Marietta’s most important citizen, is featured prominently in this story of discovery.

The Chocolate Touch is the story of Chantelle Cummings, and Dakota & Nevada’s brother York. He’s left the Air Force, and wants to spend time with his sisters in Marietta. York is helping at the chocolate shop, when mysterious Chantelle Cummings comes in. Chantelle knows her chocolate, but she is holding secrets that may destroy everything. Will her secret be exposed? What will Chantelle do? How will York respond? Will love win? Will Marietta win?

I’m thrilled with the assembly of these three stories into a wonderful anthology. In these days of isolation, and binge-watching… treat yourself to the gift of these three Parker family stories!

Three stories that you don't want to miss, all connected with the Chocolate Shop

Thankful Heart
What can be better than chocolate, animals and a hunky guy. This is what you will find in this delightful tale written by Melissa McClone. I fell in love with this story, ok so I do love chocolate, have always had a soft heart for rescue animals (love my little guy, Trooper) and how can you not fall in love with a hunky man, Bryce. Bryce is on a mission, to return to Marietta to get to know his dad better and try to convince him to move to Seattle. He soon meets Dakota, who works at Sage's Chocolate shop and helps at the animal rescue. In her opinion, animals want break your heart like men. Neither are looking for a relationship, but when you throw in Bryce's father "the matchmaker" it hard to resist.

The Valentine Quest
Loved this heartwarming romance where two opposites find attraction with the race of the Valentine Quest. Nevada, Miss Brain, working on her Phd, wants to win the, the Quest for her brother and Dustin, ex cowboy rodeo, who works at the Bar V ranch wants to win the trip for himself. This unlikely pair team up to win this competition. Loved the different challenges they had to do, and how they each helped each other to overcome obstacles. I really enjoyed their growing relationship.

The Chocolate Touch
Another delicious read form Love at the Chocolate Shop series. Chantelle has arrived in Marietta for signing of her book and get the inside scoop of the Chocolate Shop, not expecting to fall in love with York. York is home for one month before starting his job, and helping out at the Chocolate Shop during this time. Their is a mutual attraction between the two, but the one secret that Chantelle is keeping from everyone might destroy everything.

I loved how their relationship built but both afraid to move forward with their relationship, neither one here permanently. Great to catch up with the other Chocolateers!! Loved the gratitude quest! My favorite line, "She did have the chocolate touch. Chocolate had brought her everything she dreamed about and a little extra too".

Family togetherness and finding your true love

This family was so much fun to read about. Dakota is friendly and outgoing and dedicated to her job and the animal rescue where she volunteers. Marietta has good memories from visiting her aunt summers growing up. When Brice comes to town to care for his father and starts running down her town and her relationship with his father the two definitely clash. She isn't looking for love and he doesn't intend to stay in town but thank goodness things work out for them.

Dakota is super smart and concentrates on getting her degree and attaining tenure teaching. Dustin is getting restless working on the dude ranch and wants nothing from Dakota but help winning the Valentine quest. But the time they spend together changes things for both of them.

York has just been discharged from the Navy and is looking forward to his new job which will allow him to travel. He is in town for a month visiting his sisters. Chantelle is in town to do a review on the chocolate shop and gather information for her uncle who owns a famous chocolate business in France. Neither are looking to stay longer in Marietta and their plans will take them far apart. Is there a chance for them to find a lasting love.

The three stories woven together make an enjoyable read. Loved the Parker family and the closeness they shared. The people of Marietta are interesting and enjoyable. Its a town you want to visit.

A Thankful Heart:
Fate keeps throwing Dakota and Bryce together. Her job at the chocolate shop and fostering animals as she works toward her dream job, and Bryce will help her as he cares for his father. No longer able to deny the attraction, they must decide to chance their hearts to love.

The Valentine Quest:

When Nevada and Dustin team up to win the Valentine Quest, neither realizes their platonic relationship could lead to love. Cooperating and working together to overcome obstacles teaches each to open their hearts to trust and love.

The Chocolate Touch:

Like a chocolate truffle, you'll want to savor this sweet story. Starting with the meet cute, the journey of romance is laden with flavor until a little pinch of pain leads to a misunderstanding seen as subterfuge, mix in forgiveness, a dash of family bonds, and a whole lot of love. A must read romance!

I always love a connected series. This is three stories about siblings, I read the books before as part of a 12 month connected series.

I loved getting to read the stores again back to back. The siblings of Dakota, Nevada, and York are some of my favorite characters. It was like visiting old friends.

If you enjoy small town, sweet romance, with connected stories, you will enjoy this collection.

Delightful stories for chocolate lovers. So far only read one: The Valentine Quest. Sweet Valentine romance with delightful characters and fun twist and turn plot. The intriguing Valentine contest was not all about romance but helping the community at the animal shelter and providing food to the needy. Another inspiring aspect of this story was the play on characters' names and how Nevada and Dustin overcame a fear. (less)

These were three entertaining stories, but I found the "argument" between each romantic pair to be very contrived. There were numerous proofreading problems, but the worst was in the second story, about the sister called Nevada, where she was called Dakota a number of times. These problems are easily fixed if you employ a proofreader.

The Parker siblings, Dakota, Nevada and York were so interesting. They were close and all came to Marietta, because of the house their aunt left Dakota. What they didn't realize was how quaint Marietta was. Copper Mountain Chocolates draws the customers and brings out the romance in people. It was so good getting to know the siblings and watch them find love.

Oh I really enjoyed these stories!

I really greatly enjoyed each of these stories. I don't believe I had read anything by this author previously. She can certainly craft a great story. She did a great job writing three separate stories around the same core group of characters.
