Sera Thomas has more than the FBI in her life now and nothing reminds her of that more than almost losing the man she loves. Sometimes the focus has to be on her personal life and the pack or she could lose all she’s built and treasures.
And she’s not about to allow that.
Which means working things out with Brian while he travels and learns what he needs to. It’s going to take work getting him acclimated to the pack and introducing him to the supe world as a wolf, not a human who visits. But she’s willing to fight for their love if he is, and that’s a huge step for her.
To her surprise, she also makes emotional progress to overcome her abusive upbringing. Everything’s a delicate dance though, as there are also the dominance fights that are coming up for several of her packs… And a huge problem with one of them.
Oh, and she’s gotta fight as well.
At least everyone’s happy to celebrate Topher’s first Christmas and surviving another year. The full moon falls on the holiday—also Sera’s birthday—and massive festivities are planned.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
This is the book I’ve been waiting for how long. The whole time I was reading I was checking how much was left. I don’t mind 12.5 or 13.5. I just need to know there’s a full book coming and when. I needed this so thank you! But I’m ganna be a brat and just say this series, Artemis, the karma bakery and my favourite doctor/vampire I’m constantly waiting for. Like constantly I check kindle store and your Twitter regularly. Too regularly it’s both depressing and pathetic. But also how I’m getting through the pandemic. That and reading theses books again and again. Please help me stop I need new content.
So...this one is all "My life As A Wolf"... although the FBI sorta noses in a bit. Oh, and can someone PLEASE take that jerk Murray out to the ocean and feed him to something? Or someone? Which book was it....there was a shark shifter.... Any road, this one was good. I do sometimes get a bit mixed up about what day is it, and just how many times was POTUS in town? But I'll get that nailed down with the re-read. Thank you for reassuring us that Sara's gonna be around for awhile.....now... How do I cast my vote to get you to write another in the 'Naughty Witches' series?
Overall I like the over arching story and I even like the main character, but it seems like the majority of men that she runs into are all misogynistic idiots. Apparently, she has the best record in the history of the FBI for closing cases but for some reason, the heads of the FBI think she’s an idiot or something, and she still gets the lowest pay for a department head. Because apparently the FBI is so mired in misogyny that they will completely ignore history making agents because they’re a woman. Also, quite a few of her lovers are either Century‘s or Millenia old, but still seem to act like moody teenagers in a relationship rather than people who have lived incredibly long and hard lives and should have control of themselves and their emotions. Also, it’s the authors prerogative to add real world politics into her books, but I’m not exactly reading a werewolf story mired in other fantasy elements to read real world politics, I read a book like this to get away from it all, not to hear the authors political opinion, like I said, it’s her prerogative, but not something I particularly like. There’s so many issues about how horrible men are in this book that I found it particularly tiring. So honestly, I think this author and the series are off my list to get. Good luck for those who still enjoy the story though.
Review of the Seraphine Thomas Series by Erin Flynn (Books 1–18) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Overall)
I’ve officially read all 18 books in the Seraphine Thomas series - yes, all of them - so you don’t have to (but maybe you’ll want to). I’m a longtime fan of Erin Flynn’s writing. Her stories are creative, emotionally rich, and often addictive. There's always at least one character per series you end up rooting for, and her talent for immersive world-building is undeniable.
That said, my experience with this series has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Let’s break it down honestly - but respectfully.
🔥 The Positives: Compelling Worldbuilding: The supernatural FBI + polyamorous twist is unlike most in the genre. Think Forever meets Castle with a Vampire Diaries vibe.
Long-Term Character Arcs: The series spans a wide timeline and shows dedication to character growth (even if not always in a direction I enjoyed).
Addictive Early Books: Books 1–7 had me hooked. They had humor, high-stakes emotional drama, and solid pacing. These earned a solid 3.5/5 stars from me.
😬 Mixed Feelings & Constructive Critique: 1. Tone and Authorial Voice While the author’s writing style is generally engaging, I personally found some of the commentary in the closing author’s notes and certain narrative choices to feel more personal or opinionated than expected in fiction. I completely understand the need to address issues like piracy, but I believe there might be more neutral or inclusive ways to communicate those messages.
2. Relationship Complexity vs. Clarity This isn’t a typical “Why Choose” or Reverse Harem setup. It’s a deeply layered polyandrous dynamic - messy, intricate, and sometimes emotionally chaotic. If you're looking for straightforward bonding arcs, be prepared: the relationship development gets incredibly convoluted. Personally, I found the shifting dynamics between mates, sirened partners, consorts, and friends-with-benefits confusing as the series progressed. A glossary or relationship map might be helpful in future installments.
3. Character Fatigue By Book 18, I found myself struggling to connect with many of the characters - especially the main character, Sera. She starts off as a resilient, sharp, and likable FMC, but over time, her decisions and relationship management felt inconsistent or frustrating. The push-pull dynamic in her personal life, paired with very little progress in her supernatural education even 18 books in, made it difficult for me to continue rooting for her.
Many love interests were introduced with big emotional weight, only to fade into the background or disappear altogether. Some characters who were well-developed and emotionally resonant (like Dain or Tristan) seemed to get less closure or fair treatment than others who felt more peripheral. In contrast, some relationships dragged on without significant development or payoff.
4. Pacing & Structure Books 8–18 dropped to a 2.5/5 rating for me. The pacing slowed, and more focus seemed to shift toward commentary and expanding the cast rather than continuing the central storyline. Political and social themes started to feel more prominent than the core plot, which I found distracting from the fictional narrative I was invested in.
🧍♀️Sera Thomas (FMC): Early-series Sera was fantastic: witty, brave, emotionally complex, and vulnerable. I loved her journey through the early books. But as the series continued, her indecision, emotional volatility, and seeming lack of introspection made it harder to sympathize with her. She often reacted rather than reflected, and by Book 18, she felt less like a hero and more like a character stuck in loops.
💔 On the MMCs: Too many to list fully, but here are some key points:
Tristan: Felt unfairly treated by both the narrative and Sera. He brought a lot to the story emotionally and deserved more.
Dain: A standout for me. Loyal, strong, and emotionally available. Frustratingly underappreciated by Sera.
Brian, Riley, Hagan/Reagan: Relationships with these characters didn’t feel satisfying or necessary by the end.
Noah, Axel, Eugene, Jason: Struggled to leave a lasting impression. Some started strong but faded, others never quite clicked.
Carter: Felt like his storyline was mishandled. A simple conversation would have solved a lot.
Ari, Virgil, Lucca, etc.: Either forgotten or sidelined. At 18 books in, I’m struggling to remember who’s still important and who isn’t.
⚠️ Final Thoughts: This series started with a bang but has become increasingly complex - sometimes at the expense of clarity, pacing, and emotional payoff. I’d still recommend it to readers who enjoy dark paranormal romance with poly themes, complex emotions, and an ongoing world that spans dozens of characters.
But for me, the series may have reached its natural peak. I’m unsure whether I’ll continue with future books unless there’s a notable shift in focus and tone. Still, Erin Flynn’s creativity and dedication to her characters is commendable, and I hope future installments bring some much-needed resolution to long-standing arcs.
TL;DR: Started strong with a bold and complex heroine in a unique supernatural world. Became bloated with characters and unresolved plot threads. A frustrating but ambitious series worth reading - if you have patience.
I'm happy for the return to a series that was abandoned.... but it had the same grammar issues as all of the previous books. There also wasn't as much advancement of the overall story arc as I would've expected given how long it took to be released.
Woman in Demand is a novella in the Seraphine Thomas series by Erin R. Flynn.
I like that this book ironed out a lot of her relationship troubles, for multiple men in her life. I especially enjoyed that moment with Topher where we discovered who he considers his favorites, basically. But the moments with multiple people in her life outlining their love for her, and her being able to confront what was individually holding her back helped to cement certain characters longevity.
I think it's interesting that there was talk of her potentially becoming the Alpha Queen of the US. Which is honestly my preferred structure for supernatural shifter society. I think it makes far more sense when there are leading Shifters for each country, over the state Shifters. It would make far more sense for the Shufter Council to be made up of Shifters who continue to prove their power and commitment to supernatural humans by holding their pack. I honestly don't even know where these new shifter councilman are elected from? Are there just back up councilman hanging around? It doesn't appear that they do anything outside of Council work, which I would love to have explained further.
Dain, Hagan, Brian, Reagan, Axel, And Eugene are the core group of her lovers. I know that Noah and Carter are up there as well, but at least for this point in their relationships they have cemented their concrete future. Maybe Carter has shown his interest in the eventuality of them being more, but he's not there yet.
I love how she has so many powerful women around her, to help support her. I think all that's missing is a powerful Vampire Councilwoman. I love Haton, Nina, Eva, Alena, and now even Melicent. And Simone is definitely in the powerful woman rankings for this series. I'm excited to see what Ashley is capable of, because she has potential. This also makes me hope that Sera has another child... A girl, because her brothers and Topher make enough male family members in her life, but I think a girl heir would really cap this story as complete.
I absolutely love this series and am happy to see that more books are planned! This book got 4 stars frm me instead of 5 only because it read like what I'd call "transitional." Like all works from this author, this book contained a lot background information, demonstrated character growth, and didn't hold back on the heat. Because of the time lapse between releases, I wanted more action and to know where Seraphine Thomas goes from here (I know, greedy me!). Again, I love this series (and author). I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal reads with surprises and actual plots, instead of repeats of what's been written time and again. I can't wait to read what's next!
This series is truly amazing. There’s always a great story with so much in it that you can’t help to love it.
Sera is incredible and her guys. I laugh I cry I rage but all it does is make me want more and more. Truly incredible author who builds worlds that you can absolutely immerse yourself in. Not to mention strong messages and that sexism, racism, assault is so far from okay but never the victims fault. In the last book I read what the author wrote and though it broke my heart it was such a strong message.
I would a million percent recommend reading this series.
Where is the second half of this book.? I’ve read it before and you’re not the first author to do this. If it comes out as the next book, I really am done with this author. In the first addition I know that one or more characters dies Sera has to come to some brutal realizations about where she is in life and one one of her major friendships is on the brink. Interesting that I’ve given up up on a a different major storyline of hers for regurgitation, and I finally go to reread a different one and find half of it missing. Probably to be be reintroduced or altered into another short episode.
Considering this is supposed to be a half book between 12 and 13 its 240 pages of awesomeness! I literally couldn't put it down. Much like all of Erin's books to be honest she captures the reader and you immediately become transported into the story shes unfolding. I adore sera and her men and her story is one I'll never ture of so I'm beyond happy she has no plans to ever stop writing them. This book is definitely a must read and you won't be disappointed I know I wasn't!
I loved reading more Sera and seeing her relationships and her push to keep Chicago safe. She had huge breakthroughs and healed several of her relationships that have been haunting her. She also worked hard to spank the council so that they realize that they can’t beat her, they can’t take her pack, and she will always get up and fight.
She’s been thru a lot, she’s been kidnapped and abused, and those that were supposed to love her have abused her. She’s finally healing from a lot of that and it’s amazing to see.
Flynn said this was more of a long novella, so in unfairly grading down a star based on that, but I did miss the meat of the book in this one. It doesn't have to be a case, per say, but this was a but more along the lines of minor plot and sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with those, but I'm anxiously awaiting more plot development in the next one. Sera is one of my favorite heroines, and I love to see her beat all the odds. P.S. Axel needs some love!
I was hoping for more action of the fights. It was disappointing that they were just a lot of smack talk and a summary of the fight. Especially since SO MUCH of the book was gearing up for the fight.
I'm excited about more shifter politics though. Also the wait with Axel and Eugene doesn't feel genuine because we hardly ever hear about Axrl except in passing. It seems like he's forgotten a bunch. I want more of Enzo.. I like him
Sometimes I forget how much I love Sera. Then I do a reread or get a new book like this one and fall in love with her all over again. This may be my favorite Sera book yet. She has grown so much and this book just shows how well she is rolling with all of the changes. Sera is a badass and I marvel at how well she is able to dissect situations for motivations and possible repercussions. I'm also gratified to see how some of her relationships are developing.
I like the different change of pace of the books like this on in the series!
I like how not every book in the series is some big bad or large plot twist. This book gave some background on certain things, cleared up lingering issues and set the stage for realistic big problems to address in future books. It helps balance the series nicely. I cant wait for the next book!
I am also hopping for another Karma Bakery book soon!!
The only reason it didnt get a 5 star was I couldn't find the book listed on the series page. This made it easy to overlook since when I find a series I like that's how I track new releases.
I like this series because of the unusual characters, interesting and dynamic world development and pace. It's one of the series where when a new book is published I start the series over from start to finish.
I guess I will have to work on my patience because I just read the whole series in the last week or so and am in love! Beautifully written series and I’m thankful for the wrap up at each book’s end, because I couldn’t wait if there’s a cliffhanger. But yet there’s still so much in the future to come, so I absolutely love how the series is written. Every character is intriguing and I love learning more about the ones close to her.
So much action (fighting and frolicking)!! Sera and her crew are cleaning up Chicago and laying the ground work for all Sups worldwide. But the pesky council, out of town Alphas and leaders high up in the government just can seem to get it through their thick skulls that a woman can be a strong and powerful leader without a man to tell her every move to make.
This series is my absolute favorite of Erin's. It was nice having a closer look at her life that didn't involve the FBI. I look forward to more closer looks and the continuation of the series. Reagan really stepped up. Brian is on his way to be forgiven. And Eugene is still hot as hell. One of my favorite male characters of the series
We finally got another Seraphine Thomas book and it did not disappoint! It was really nice to see more into the life of Sera the alpha than Sera the FBI. Seeing the progression of relationships and the conclusion of others and the reasoning behind it was a relief. I can’t wait for more!
I love being able to get more in depth on the loves of her life. I was a bit hesitant with all the sex at the beginning but that's just a personal opinion. The whole book rocks and I'm so here for every book in the series. This makes me want to re-read all the other books.
Glad Sara finally had it out with Monroe. I love all Erin's book and would adore if she rotated her books on releasing. I just miss Toffer and glad Brian got his head on straight. Really appreciate this book as I've missed Sara and crew. So freaking fantasticly happy they release every 6 weeks. Can't wait to read more. JL
I have loved this series from the start. The storyline is unique, and most of the time just plain fun. I love that this book gives us a break from the constant drama of Sera’s life (kinda). After so long without another book in this series, this one went way too fast, but so worth the wait.
I always enjoy spending time in this world and with Sera. Today was a good day. More slice of life than previously but I enjoyed that immensely though I think this definitely shouldn't be skipped even if its a .5. Not that fans that get to book 12 are ever going to contemplate not reading it!
Man oh man have I missed Sera and her AMAZINGLY AWESOME CREW....... I would like to say thank you to the author for writing this awesome novella about Sera and all of her totally bad*ss support characters. It was great to get to read about them again and I can’t wait to see what happens next....
This is an interesting addition to the series. It is slightly shorter than her normal stories about Sera, but the other books focus more on cases she is working on for the FBI. This book is solely about Sera's personal life and her relationships with the people around her. It gave some really good insight to her feelings and the feelings of those around her.
Another exceptional episode of Sera’s life with the emphasis more on her personal day to day, than her FBI job, and about the ripples created as things change, and Sera realising there’s more to her support structure than she thought! Loved Brian’s vlog and the phone call with the President! As always awaiting the next instalment!
Such a twisty turny plot throughout this series I'm not sure how Erin keeps it all in place. Love Reading about Sara and all her trials and how she overcomes them learning what it means to be all she is and the lives she affects. Please keep writing her story 🙏
I love this series, but i hate that i have to wait a year for the next book to come out. I keep looking in kindle and twitter to ser when the next book is coming out. I feel addicted, and it show with the amount of time i keep checking if a new book already came out. I really look forward to the next book in this series, but i just hope it comes soon, and not in a year form now.
