As the reader experiences the sights, sounds, and activities of each season through the authors poetic words, the illustrations celebrate the joys of fatherhood by showing African American dads and their kids enjoying the year together.
A book about the four seasons for those like us in upstate New York that get to enjoy all of them with their beautiful colors, fun, and adventure. The picture book is an adventure in itself with a nicely complimented set of scenes to the seasons and the story itself written by Moore.
This is "poetic," yet it doesn't read smoothly. Several pages have a definite rhythmic pattern, then the pattern disappears, then it reappears. It makes things choppy. And while the artist's work may be great on murals, it has an exaggerated style more for a graphic novel then for a picture book. This had so much potential, but it disappoints.
