Merle and Pearl are still missing! Ruben has them hidden away in Israel, so Michael, Justin, Sadie, Jane, and Mr. and Mrs. Gomez take off on a rescue mission to get them back once and for all. In the meantime, Dusty finds himself trapped in a donkey retirement community alongside a quirky alpaca named Adriana, who just happens to be an expert lock picker!

Merle and Pearl are still missing and the Gomezes are going back to Israel again to try and find them. Meanwhile, Dr. Simon has the two talking squirrels locked up in a cage until they are ready to be moved to the amusement park/zoo plans of the villainous Ruben. Dusty the donkey is good at eavesdropping and he hears plans of the squirrels being moved. A bunch of the animals are seen at Bethlehem at a live nativity scene, but Merle is not there. Will the family and everyone else be able to help the squirrels in time?
I read this book to my child as part of her homework. Merle and Pearl are still missing and this time the whole crew is searching for them in Jerusalem. We meet an alpaca and Talking donkey named dusty too. The adventure continue and again we are left wondering what will happen next leading to book 10 of the series. My kids enjoy these books, and I appreciate the biblical references and the lessons tied into them.
Another fun entry in this series. With the explanation of the Dead Sea Scrolls at the end, I literally just figured out the punny title and I’m an adult. Wow. Lol. *Face palms.
The story follows Michael and his family as they continue the search for Merle and Pearl. They finally catch up to Pearl but Merle gets recaptured by Reuban. They finally figure out what Dr. Simon wants with the squirrels.
