Obwohl wir uns kennen, ist es das erste Mal, das wir einander sehen. Die Zeit steht still. Wir sind nicht mehr dieselben Menschen wie vor einer Minute. Doch, wir sind dieselben. Aber zwischen uns gibt es etwas Neues. Ich habe Lust Mary Lou zu berühren. Streiche mit den Fingerspitzen über ihre Wange, über die Lachgrübchen und die Lippen. Ich weiß nicht, warum ich es tue. Очень хорошая летняя книжка. Да, ничего не происходит. Да, готовят и едят еду каждый день. И в туалет ходят. Кормят кур. Купаются, читают, валяются на солнце. А ещё между всеми этими делами что-то понимают о себе и о том человеке, который рядом.
Лето, солнце, цветы.

Gera buvo dar kartą perskaityti šią puikią knygą jaunimui. Ji tokia atmosferiška, nostalgiška, lėta. Rekomenduoju visiems - ne tik penkiolikmečiams - kurie nori pailsėti nuo intrigų, įtampų, gilių analizių ir porą vakarų pasimėgauti gražia draugyste, saule, vasara prie ežero. Knyga - apie neįgalumą, bet kartu ir visai ne apie jį. Labiau apie tai, kad gyvenimas tęsiasi, kad kartais viskas kur kas mažiau dramatiška, nei mes susivaizduojame, apie meilę, kuriai neįgalumas ne kliūtis. Atgaiva buvo porą vakarų kažkaip atsitraukti nuo visko ir pradingt šitoj knygoj.

hmmmm as nezinau ar labai patiko. Pradzia buvo labai nuobodi ir tik veliau buvo idomu, realiai galvojau jie mirs kartu per ta “audra”. A beautiful, meditative novel about two teenagers spending summer together on a quiet island in lake Vättern. They are both 15 years old and know each other since childhood. Mary-Lou is trying to learn to live with a disability after an accident that put her into a wheelchair. Adam is trying to grow as an artist and overcome his hydrophobia but also wants to re-connect with an old friend. They walk and cook and swim and read and sail together and the pace of the novel is as laidback and peaceful as their life on the island. I really enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the natural world and the way the two main characters communicate. I also think this is a great example of how you can talk to a person with a disability and help them without being patronizing and hurting their feelings.

It's is a solid coming-of-age book and even though I probably wouldn't have picked it for myself, it was interesting to read and I'm excited to take a deeper look into it and analyse it in class.

L'idée me semblait bonne, mais je dois dire que j'ai passé à travers ce roman en attendant vainement qu'il se passe quelque chose. On arrive à la fin, en étant pratiquement au même point qu'au début : on ne sait pas ce qui s'est réellement passé lors de l'accident de Mary-Lou, on ne sait pas si Adam l'aime vraiment, ni si elle l'aime aussi, on ne sait pas si elle remarchera un jour, si elle retournera voir son père... Les trois quarts de l'histoire se résument à la description de ce qu'ils ont mangé aux repas et ce qu'ils ont fait pendant la journée (lire, peindre, apprendre à nager).
À plusieurs reprises, je me suis dit, ça y est, ils ont entendu un bruit, quelqu'un va arriver et l'histoire va enfin démarrer. Ou lorsqu'ils décident d'aller s'installer sur l'île su Solitaire, je me suis dit qu'ils allaient enfin se parler réellement et nous dévoiler quelque chose d'intéressant, mais non. Ça n'a été que la continuité de ce qu'ils faisaient au chalet : manger, dessiner, nager.
On termine ce roman plutôt déçu. J'ai eu l'impression d'avoir perdu mon temps. Ça aurait PU être une bonne histoire, mais c'est complètement raté, à mon avis.

Для літньої книги вибрала ось цю. Автор зовсім невідомий, але книжка мені сподобалася.

15-річний Адам проводить літні канікули на дачі - в маленькому будиночку на озері. Там досить прості умови - туалет на вулиці, душ в озері, продуктовий магазин досить далеко. Батьки Адама розлучені, батько десь подорожує, мама на роботі. Адам досить самостійний хлопець, і якби не вказання віку, я би подумала, що йому 20, бо його судження дорослі і дії теж цілком свідомі. Адам пригадує, як три роки тому він знав дівчинку Марі-Лу, яка теж жила біля озера. Вони товаришували, і Адам був у неї закоханий. Але з нею сталося нещастя. Вона не витримала розлучення батьків і стрибнула з дерева. Не померла, але стала паралізованою нижче попереку. Адам запрошує її на канікули побути разом із ним. І вона приїздить. Вони мають чудове літо. Вони купаються разом і разом куховарять. Адам малює Марі-Лу і допомагає з вправами, а вона вчить його плавати. Вони навіть здійснюють прогулянку човном на острів, живуть там тиждень і потраплять в шторм на шляху назад. Вони не пара, і в книжці немає жодних натяків на бурхливий роман: все дуже невинно, лише кілька поцілунків. В принципі, життєвий досвід каже, що так не буває, але героям і подіям книжки віриш.

В книжці все дуже меланхолійно, спокійно і просто. От уся шведська література, яку я читала, пронизана цим спокоєм: і Хеннінг Манкелль, і книжка про Сміллу і її чуття снігу, і інші книжки.

Мені дуже сподобалася атмосфера, герої, тихе і спокійне життя. Раджу.

I've read it in one breath, although I've bought it for my growing daughters..for future)
The book is kind, warm and tender. It is about first feelings. About important thoughts that adults should ask themselves more often, and then teenagers think and talk about them (!!). It's great if a teenager reads and learns that this is possible. Talk, laugh, make friends.
And an important topic about inclusiveness. I do not pretend to be an absolute truth, but I believe that it is a great advantage for people with physical problems to be included in society. Everyone around them learns to be more patient, to help, but not to be intrusive. The book is about that too.
The general feeling after reading is calmness and warmth.

I felt this book in my gut and didn’t want it to end. Pain and joy, longing, sorrow and carefree romance all wrapped up in a few weeks at a cottage. This is one of those books where you become the main character and have to coax yourself back into reality when you put it down.

What's the point of chapters if a 260 page book has FOUR and one of them is 170 pages long 😭😭 and we still don't know if Mary lou jumped or fell which I thought was the whole point of the book
