I love reading new authors and to catch this one with her debut book is more special. The characters were well developed and the storyline is gripping and intriguing. This story had me so enraptured I couldn’t flip my page is fast enough. Evelyn is out for revenge but she didn’t expect the complication of meeting Aiden. Will Evelyn be able to adapt to a life at Court? Will she give up her path for revenge?

I was lucky enough to get this book as an ARC for an honest review! I love paranormal romances so much and they are near and dear to my heart. I read the synopsis of this book and knew that I had to read this book.

I really enjoyed this read and it was a great addition to my list of books that I wanted to read this month. There were so many interesting elements of this book and I really loved the book world! It was just so interesting and had so many different creatures that I had never encountered before. Her idea of the fae was much more unique than I ever read. I want to be a Lady of the forest so bad. It was such a cool idea. I also thought the court dynamics were very intriguing. The different courts fascinated me and I just wanted to know more.

Although I loved the book world, I thought that it was just a tad confusing. I got bits and pieces of the important details of the book world, but I wanted more explanation and I was a little disappointed. I also was a little disappointed with the characters. I really could not stand the main character, Evelyn, sometimes. I mean I would like her, but then she would do something I didn’t like and I would be back at square one. Her innocence and naivety could be annoying and she would pretend she knew better and ruin everything. I could not handle it.

I did like a lot of the other characters though especially Mason, Jude, and Ares. I was obsessed with these characters so much and I couldn’t get enough. They were side characters, but they were just so interesting that I wanted to know everything. Mason was an interesting love interest and I thought Evelyn did him so WRONG!

The sex scenes were steamy, but they were not ENOUGH. It was just too PG for me so I was a little disappointed by that. Aiden is definitely yummy even though his emotions were a little too hot and cold for this reader.

Overall, I know this book is the start of a series and due to the fact I have so many unanswered questions about the book world I will definitely continue. I just have to have more!

I was sent Moon Shadow to beta read for the editor and author and I cannot even begin to say how much I liked this story! I’m a picky paranormal romance reader. A PNR has to be truly exceptional to keep my attention. I’ve been glued to this book for days (thanks to reality for getting in the way). Not only am I anticipating more books from this breakout author, I am looking forward to watching her inevitable great success in the book world!

Do yourself a favor and pre-order this book immediately.

What an action packed beginning to this trilogy. There are so many things that takes place with in these pages. I love a good PNR that not only has action, but one hell of a storyline. We get an action, suspense, and lets not forget the love story that is so intricately woven with in these pages.
I enjoyed getting to know all the characters. We have an malicious king who in my opinion is a power hungry leech. You will understand what I am saying once you read this book. A heroine who has a lot to learn about herself and life in general. One of this things is our heroine Evelyn finding out just who she is truly meant to be. She is a strong character that refuses to be put on the back burner. There is no stopping her when she sets he tenacious mind to it. Our Dark Prince who has more to him than meets the eye.
The reason for the 4 stars instead of the 5 are I felt a few things were rushed. I will not go into detail just because I do not want to give any of the plot away. Just know I think I am a little blood hungry and I was hoping there was a little more punishment handed out. I am looking forward to seeing what is going to be happening next!

When exiled werewolf Evelyn Wolfrik’s parents are murdered, she will stop at nothing to seek vengeance against those responsible. Unfortunately for Evie, the one responsible is a member of the royal family of the Court of Shadows… one of the heirs to the throne. When her little assassination attempt fails, Evie becomes the prisoner of Prince Aiden, the crown prince, a vampire she can’t help but be intensely attracted to. But as her attraction to Aiden grows stronger, she realizes that the Court of Shadows is full of intricate politics that a life in exile did not prepare her for…

This book was flipping fantastic! I loved Evie’s wit and snarky nature. And Aiden… despite being called “The Dark Prince,” he is more than what he appears to be. I loved how complex their relationship was, and how far they came by the end of the novel. Rea’s writing is wonderfully intriguing, and that ending makes me anxious to find out what happens next. I completely recommend!

I adored this book.
Initially there was a lot of information all at once and was a little hard to wrap my head around, but the further I read the better it got. I love this new world Rea has created—the different Courts, the variety of supernatural creatures, the magic—it was exciting, fresh and certainly kept me wrapped up in it. The main plot revolves around the big bad King Gaius, and while intriguing, it was the characters, romance and magic that truly captured me. I adored Jude and his ability to travel through the trees (this was honestly one of my favourite things 😂), the concept of binding yourself to a forest and being able to hear the whispers of the trees? Marvellous. I was deeply invested in seeing Aiden’s court mask come off and the absolute swoon worthy charm and affection that was revealed. While the romance developed quickly, it was soon revealed that Aiden had always had a connection with Evelyn. This made the progress between them hold much more depth, as she stood for something Aiden never wanted to forget.
Another thing I loved was how pieces of the information revolving around the Court of Shadows and the history of the vampires that ruled were artfully revealed. There is very much an “us vs. them” mentality between the vampires and the wolves, fae etc. but as we learn about the admirable qualities in vampires such as Aiden and Alex, we also learn that their history wasn’t as black & white as many believed. They had a role to play, and Evelyn’s tumble into their lives was the catalyst in unraveling the truth.

Light and Dark, death and rebirth, truth and lie. The themes in this book were captivating, and I’m excited for more danger and romance in the next

This book was an AMAZING debut!!!! The plot kept me turning pages, eager to see what came next. I loved Aiden, and I’m claiming him as my own - thanks for coming out. There were definitely a few twists I didn’t see coming, and that ending has me excited for the sequel!!! The relationships between all of the characters were well executed, and there was juuuust enough steam for me. Well done!

This was an amazing heart pounding beginning to a series. I couldn't put this down and finished it within 24 hours. This is a urban fantasy/paranormal romance book, whichever you want to call it but a lot of the times it had the feel of an epic fantasy and I loved that!

The characters were great, I loved Evelyn she did not back down to anyone, even if at times it might have made things easier she didn't give up. Aiden had me from the beginning and at times I was questioning him but I never should have. A few of the characters you may think are a certain way but then they show who they really are and it's so wonderful. I loved the world created and honestly need more of this asap.

If you love fast pace urban/paranormal fantasy then you absolutely need to check this book out asap!

Just the Beginning

Wow! This was my introduction to K. Rea as an author and I was not disappointed! Evelyn and Aiden are well developed, amazing characters. The emotions are palpable throughout the story. Rea does an excellent job keeping a high tempo pace throughout, and provides excellent twists.

This will keep you on the edge of your seat and looking for more…

*** The THIRD book has not been released***** as of December 2022

This book would have to be one of the best paranormal/fantasy books I have read in a long long time (or ever), the way the author has written it shows such intelligence and a fresh protective on the different peoples of the kingdom, I would have given this story five stars but for the lack of attention to the bedroom scenes between Aiden and Evie, I loved the chemistry between these characters and it was intense up until they consummated their union then I was left bereft of a more descriptive coupling of the physical intimacy would have brought to their story and much more bonded a great love story.

Captivating paranormal romance with a rich setting.
Wolfrik Trilogy
Genre: Paranormal romance, modern fantasy, vampires, shifters
POV: 1st Person, past tense
Heat gauge: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (4/5)

When vampires took over the Shadow Court, they exiled Evelyn’s wolf shifter family. Then they killed her parents. Driven by revenge, she single-mindedly hunts the vampire responsible. She did not anticipate getting caught by the dark prince, nor did she expect the sizzling chemistry between them. Yet when she finds herself at the king’s mercy or lack thereof, the connection she feels to Aiden may be the only thing that saves her.

These books were amazing! As soon as I finished the first, I simply had to move straight into the second. Now I can’t wait for the next instalment. The setting and magic lore are so rich and interesting. And the characters? OMG I love them all! I’ll admit it took a little while for me to warm to Aiden because he seemed too honourable for a dark prince. There were a few chapters there where I’d hoped Evelyn would choose his flirtatious vampire brother instead. But as the story progressed, Aiden’s character developed, and he swept me off my feet. Then we met Ares. Good lord that man is swoon worthy. If you are looking for hot book boyfriends, this is the place to find them.

All lovers of paranormal romance should give this series a go. You won’t be disappointed.
