In the year 2124, the world's population has been divided into two groups: infected and noninfected. Race, ethnicity, and nationality no longer matter. Pia Montgomery is one of the noninfected. She's dedicated the last twenty-plus years of her life to being a surgical nurse. It's time for a new chapter.
She goes to the Match Mate Agency seeking a husband among the infected. Unlike others, she's not afraid of their animalistic tendencies. In fact, she admires them. However, Mate Match is no ordinary dating agency, and the infected do things differently. They hunt for their mates. Ready. Set. Go! It's time for the Mate Run.
Zena Wynn is a multi-published author of erotic and sensual romance in various romance subgenres: Interracial, Contemporary, Paranormal, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Inspirational. She writes the type of stories she loves to read—stories with great characters who, through love and determination, overcome all the challenges that come their way. Her heroes and heroines are passionately, lovingly, devoted to each other. Zena wants her characters to stick with readers long after “The End.”
Zena Wynn has perfected the craft of writing novella. She sucks you in a short of amount of time, and develops character and plot at an amazing pace. I was riveted with this storyline and the H/h. It ended all too quickly. I can't wait to continue this series.
This was good. Pretty well-developed story of a mature woman who decides to seek a mate among the population of men who live as "the infected" when the world is now divided into just the uninfected and the infected-- the only categories that matter anymore. There is very little emotional affection moments between the hero and heroine, but it is understandable and doesn't detract from the story. I appreciated the hero's POV being included and not just the heroine's. There is action, tension and in the last chapter you finally get the answers about the virus you are waiting the whole book for. Looking forward to book 2.
MS. Wynn is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed this story. I found it to be refreshingly different from other books with very similar plots. And, what really got me was reading a story that centered on a mature 40 something adult female! Thank you Zena! The story is a short read but it has well defined characters and the momentum to finish the book is available on just about every page. It will hold your interest and if I know Zena, the first book set up the perfect introduction into book 2. I was so pleased to read a book with a mature female who is also a professional and clearly knows how to take control of the situation.
So I like the take on this book. The story was good and keep my interest. There were some aspects that seemed to be setting the story to go somewhere but didn't really. Not sure did they come up in further stories.
The only complaint I have with this book is that it was too short! That being said, it was still a good book with a good hero and heroine! Pia was seeking a mate and Jeb was her man! And what a man! LOL! Can't wait to read the next story about Cherise! Thanks, Ms. Wynn for a good read, you never disappoint!
This book, in the new series, was short and sweet. I liked the mate run concept. Pia was amazing and Jen was really sweet ....underneath his hard outer shell. I look forward to the next book in the series.
The author stated that that she had not written in this genre before; she did a good job. Pia is a natural leader, decisive, strong, assertive, caring. Good character to read during Women's History month, which is when I read this. Jeb is alpha, taciturn, commanding, possessive, but loving. They make a good match. I would like to explore this world more - how it came to be, etc. Maybe that will be explored more during the series. I will be purchasing the next installment in this series.
From beginning to end this book captivated you...Jeb and Pia seemed an unlikely pair but they were everything they needed ..great book .cannot wait for more!!
I love this book. I can't wait until book 2. I want to know about all the other women fate. I also want to know why the men call the infected that have animal strand is a mystery. Jeb said he has the antivirus in his body and how did he know the other guy at the run and what happen to Care and her son and who was the guy that she and her child left with an I caught that Jillian said Alphas. What did she mean? I want to read this new series. I am hock now an the first book was a great start. I look forward to this new adventure with this new series. I still want my mate series for they are not finish. Plus I love the town they live in. Great job Ms. Zena.
Wow, this was really good, I don’t know what I was expecting but Pia & Jeb was a great read. Now I will admit it was to short, I was expecting more with there story, maybe Greg to retaliate. Still it was very good.
This was a great start to a promising series. This book, though fantasy, was down to earth and relatable. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more.
I love Zena’s writing! Pi’s and Jeb were a great match! Jeb needed a strong woman and he gets that in Pia! I can’t wait for the others stories to come out.
Jebediah Wyatt also knew what he didn't want as a mate. He tried at least five or six times to find a mate and failed. He believed that to find that perfect mate, it was more than a pheromonal attraction. He believed his relationship would be deeper than just sex. His mate would have to handle off-the-grid living.
Pia Montgomery was getting older. She focused her life on her career. As an emergency room nurse, she worked long and hard days. She did not want to spend another winter alone. She was not afraid of the infected as she treated plenty in the E.R. When she first laid eyes on Jeb, she had that deep feeling that he would love her and take care of her. Jeb's instincts kicked in and told him that Pia was the one he'd been looking for and was not going to lose her even if he didn't follow the rules and Pia was just as determined to stay by his side regardless of what the mate run rules were.
This was an interesting post-apocalyptic pandemic story. It will be interesting to read about the other women in the Mate Run. I just have one big question. Just how old is Jeb? He kind of sidestepped that question. There's more to the story, especially after revealing his hideout deep in the woods. Exactly what does he use it for?
Compared to the other stories, this one felt rushed to me. There were a couple of inconsistencies, but all in all this was a good story. And unlike the other stories, there weren’t any villains. I really felt like the time used to tie up loose ends in Pia is all the life could have been used to show the characters getting to know each other better. Jeb’s character wasn’t bad. I just wished we had a chance to get to know him better. There was way more. It could have been unpacked with him, so it kind of felt like a wasted opportunity. Other than that I have enjoyed this series tremendously and would highly recommend it.
This was my first time reading this author. The writing was well done, the world building okay, the plot somewhat interesting. There is a hint of danger/mystery/suspense that may fleshed out in later books in the series, but mostly this is a straightforward romance. There isn’t any conflict between the couple; the FMC actually commits right away, even retiring from her job and moving all her things in. I’m not sure I’m interested enough to read the other two books of the series. There is medium heat.
The government messed up and now in 2124 there are infected and not infected people. When Pia signs up at Mate Match she is a nurse who is tired of being alone, in her 40s and she doesn’t mind having a relationship with an infected male who will exhibit more animal tendencies but hopes he will be monogamous and committed . There are a few facts not mentioned when she signs the contract and Pia has a huge surprise in store.
I actually really like Zena Wynn. The writing was good. The concept was very intriguing. However, I didn't like the hero or the heroine and have no idea what they looked like. The main characters don't seem fleshed out, there's no chemistry between them and the story fell flat. Did Jeb even like Pia? It didn't seem like it to me. Because I like Zena Wynn I gave this 2.5 stars. If it was any other author I would have gotten a refund.
Wynn has done it again by giving us something refreshing plotwise. While reading, you can tell there is definitely more to the story and that this is part of a deeper entanglement that will be revealed in later books. I don't think this is the last we will see of Pia and Jeb with that revelation at the end and I can't wait to read it.
This was a short story that had a lot of questions but never really answered most of them. Could they not have kids? Did she fix the house up? Just some basic answers that would have added more depth and feeling to the story
This was a new twist for mates. I'm used to the cliche, but I really love this approach the author took. The characters weren't dull and actually developed throughout the story. I loved every second of it.
Had me from the first word. I loved reading every single word. The story was so creative and written with such excellent details. I can't wait to read book 2. I absolutely recommend this book to readers who love adventure, alphas, and the women who love them.
This was not what I expected. I didn't like Jeb. He didn't show love or even like. I thought she would have played a little harder to get. Thought it would be some interesting adventure. Just ok.
