About the author

Small-town Oklahoma and the friendships they produce are embedded in Sharon Srock’s heart. After spending her first fifteen years on the move, living in fourteen homes and attending thirteen schools, she landed in a tiny central Oklahoma community and made it her own. As someone who’s been blessed to be a part of the same hometown church for more than five decades, Sharon writes stories of hope built from her own unique perspective—stories that demonstrate a sisterhood formed not by blood but by heart, where ordinary women are able to do extraordinary things thanks to the friends who surround them and the faith that pulls them through. This story started out with me really liking it. I mean, someone willing to step up and take in her former friend’s kids when she dies? I really liked Ember and the girls.
Then there was Quinn. I see some of where he was coming from, but he sure irritated me! This guy obviously didn’t care what Ember thought, and he didn’t even act like she mattered until later. He did whatever he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted.
There were some kisses that were a little detailed. We were taken up to the door of the bedroom on the wedding night, but then we had to see parts of what happened behind the door though Ember’s thoughts. Really? But then the very last scene ends with the reader on the inside as the bedroom door is locked and I wanted to say, “Hey! Let me out before you get into bed!!!” That knocked a star off my rating. No, it didn’t go into details, but I still felt very uncomfortable and don’t enjoy things like that.
The Christian aspect was there. There were some prayers among Ember and her friends, and Quinn prayed, but we really didn’t see Ember praying over the whole situation and the Bible was only mentioned twice when someone mentioned a Bible verse. No one seemed to read it though there was mention of them going to church. It just felt shallow and lacked depth.

Ember begins the new series, Crafted with Love, by Sharon Srock. I have loved all of her books and this one is no different. I instantly felt connected to Ember. I admired her devotion to her friend and raising her children. It had to have caused so much heart break in so many ways but she continued to do what was best. I love how the author is so talented to be able to describe the emotions and feelings of the characters. I felt as though I was part of the story and living in the town. This is a beautiful story of learning how to forgive.

Ember will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I can not wait to read the next installment from the Crafted with Love series. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading inspirational and clean fiction dealing with real life issues.

Ember was a book that gave me all the feels. Angry, sad, betrayed, hopeless, excited, laughing, and finally relief. This was an excellent book and one that really explored some deep emotional wounds that happen all to often I’m sure in life. I totally fell in love with the little girls and while I wanted to not like Quinn, I couldn’t help but respect him as well. This was an excellent book; I didn’t know how the author was going to pull off (explain) what happened years ago but she did an excellent job. And I loved how she didn’t automatically give us a happily ever after. Great from start to finish!

Different sort of enjoyable..

This story went faster and different than I thought, but I enjoyed it. It sort of took me by surprise as the tale wove itself.

Sharon again writes a wonderful story for the readers to enjoy! I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Sharon did not let me down in this story! Betrayal, forgiveness, love, acceptance and so much more occur in this book! Can Ember forgive Quinn who slept with her best friend Amanda? Amanda and Quinn marry and have two children. Amanda calls Ember and Ember goes to her right away. Amanda is dying and Quinn is in jail for money fraud. Can Ember raise two girls on her own? Yes, She does and learns to love them with all of her heart and then the imaginable happens and Quinn is released early from jail, because he was found innocent. How is Ember going to give the girls to Quinn? She loves the girls so much. You must read to see how the story unravels! Thanks Sharon!

Sharon Srock does it again. She drew me in from the beginning of the story and I couldn’t put the book down. I read it in one sitting.

A trip back to Garfield with my friends. Some old friends and many new friends to meet. This is a story of betrayal, forgiveness, integrity and acceptance.

Have you read any books by Sharon Srock? If so, you will want to get this one as soon as possible to continue the story in Garfield and meet the new folks.

Ember and Quinn’s story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. In this book you read about the devotion of a wonderful friend, and the loss of a dear friend. The characters in this book are truly amazing people. Watching Ember and Quinn put the girls ahead of their selves is truly inspirational. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

Ember was such a beautiful story!! It was my first introduction to Ms. Srock's work, but it certainly won't be my last! The story hooked me in from the blurb (I was definitely intrigued as to how everything was going to play out), and even though it may have been predictable up to a certain point, it was just what my heart was needing at the moment.

I can't seriously imagine going through everything Ember did, yet it was nice not only seeing her get reacquainted with Quinn but also slowly understand some things of their past. I loved the reminder that no one is perfect (yep, including characters in books), and that even though the reader may be predisposed to "take sides" at the beginning, life doesn't work that way. Finally, I also wanted to mention that, despite the love story being a beautiful one (and interesting at times), what my heart truly cherished the most was the Christian faith interwoven through it (the prayers as well as the reminders of God's presence with His sons and daughters every step of the way, and that we can lean on Him and His strength always).

The narrator did a wonderful job bringing everyone to life, and I especially enjoyed her voice for Ember. It's clear her forte is with women's voices since even though there are conversations/meetings where all the crafters are together (six or seven women), the listener is able to tell them apart (even though the first one was hard trying to keep all the names straight). On the other hand, while I liked Quinn's voice, there were a couple of times when he was talking with Ember that their voices seemed a bit too similar. Still, with that being said, she nailed pretty much every nuance/emotion from the characters and did a great job with both old and younger ones (loved Kira and Kasey's).

Overall, a beautiful story perfect for fans of the author, the Christian Fiction genre, or ones looking for a Clean/Sweet romance. ~ 4.5 stars

Omniscient narration of deliciously glowing story

Ember turns out to be very descriptive of the main character’s personality. So happy that I won this book!

Normally I read actual books during the day and electronic books at night, when using a light could disturb my spouse. My Mom listens to audible books due to her eyesight and several new librarians have mentioned listening to audible books while commuting or doing housework. Happy that this book was my introduction to audible.

At first I was a bit concerned that I would be starting a series with book 16, but it pulled me in immediately and never made me feel like an outsider. There were definitely several unexpected moments that held my interest and helped to give the story more depth but without getting “preachy”. Definitely looking forward to reading more from Sharon Srock.

I do have a tendency to prefer books that take me into the inner workings of the characters’ minds and motivation instead of just superficial characters and fashion choices. There was just enough balance to lighten the mood and make you smile when needed and still help you feel like you really got to get to know the characters. My biggest delight was the voice of the five year old and her older sister and their interactions with Ember and Quinn. Love and friendship, misunderstandings and patience twine throughout this story, While wanting to share this book with as many readers as possible, I am reluctant to say anything that may spoil the delightful experience of this book.

This is the first book I have read by this author, I am impressed. I was impressed with the internal prayers offered by the characters and their dependence on their faith. I found myself openly weeping during this story as it played out. I felt all the feelings that would have been experienced by someone going through what these characters did.

I really loved the voice of the Holy Spirit in these books. The author laid it out as if it was a message coming from above like so many of us have experienced and want to experience.

I really loved the message of opening your heart and having faith. God saying to Ember "are you even going to consider what I have given you in answer to prayer?" I was inspired. The other message that I loved was that of forgiveness.

This story was poignant and made me consider my own faith. The struggles were realistic and the characters were sympathetic.

I really love the group from the craft store. They are all one could hope for in a group of supportive friends. I cannot wait to get to know them better and see what is hiding behind the scenes with them.

Amber feels fulfilled raising the two daughters of her deceased best friend. But when the father shows up, anxious to regain custody of the girls, Ember's life goes into a tailspin. Ember never dreamed her "daughters" would be taken away from her. She also thought she had forgiven the people who had betrayed her, but the situation digs up all the feelings she has buried deep inside herself. Determined to do what's best for the girls, she sets her feelings aside and agrees to live in a situation that wrenches her heart daily. Only God can enable her to do what's right when it feels so wrong.

I seldom give books that I read 5-star ratings, but I believe this one deserves it. I like the interesting situation that this book presents and the unusual twists and turns that make me think. Like other Srock books I've read, Ember is part of a circle of female friends which care deeply for each other. This time those friends work together as crafters that sell their work through Ember's store. There is romance in this book, but it goes far beyond physical attraction to godly character and the needs of others. There are two tasteful references which imply sex within a Christian marriage.

You will admire Ember who drops everything when her childhood best friend dies of cancer and leaves Ember guardian to her two daughters. Ember is such a caring, loving mother to the girls. The girls' father, Quinn, is in prison for stealing money so there will be no problem there--until Quinn shows up at Ember's Crafted With Love shop and files for guardianship! The book is a page turner as you wonder what will happen to the darling girls and to Ember's heart. This is another great read by Sharon Srock! If you enjoy contemporary women's fiction, you will love this book! I received an advance e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

The story follows Ember, who has been betrayed by her best friend and also by her fiancé, Quinn. They got married, had a family, he ended up in jail, and she got cancer. Ember is called and asked to look after the two girls upon her friend’s death. She wants nothing to do with Quinn. He is unexpectedly exonerated and set free. What will this mean for Ember’s new family? Quinn wants his family back … but at what cost to Ember? I really enjoyed this Christian romance. It’s a clean read, and realistically portrays what one could imagine happening in such a situation. I received a free copy of this audiobook, with no obligation.

Oh my! To be back in Garfield, OK with all our family and friends we’ve met through Ms Srock’s stories just made my year! Oh Ember, how your story made my heart feel. I cried, I laughed, I sobbed. My heart reached out to you in so many ways. You showed us what divine love looks like when stepping out in faith and leaning on God. A beautiful heartfelt story. And Quinn, I grew to adore him. And those precious toddlers. Family woven together in His precious name. Ms Srock you’ve created a masterpiece!

“Love can’t live in the same heart as unforgiveness.” This quote from the book perfectly sums up the key themes of this beautiful story of betrayal, love lost, family, and sacrificial love for children even if they are not your own. It made me feel everything from hurt and betrayal to sadness to joy at Gods goodness. A very good read that I could not put down. You will meet Ember and Quinn whose interests are at odds with each other, fulfilling ones dreams ruins another’s. How can God bring good from their predicament? Get a copy and find out

This was the first book by Sharon Srock that I have read even though I do have a couple in my library. I was pleasantly surprised by the story. I found myself looking forward to reading it every day. I loved how the author was able to show how people aren’t perfect and God is able to show us how to listen to Him and obey. I didn’t find it “preachy,” just realistic for the way Christians lead their lives. I fell in love with the characters and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books.

Ember was a really great book! Romance is not a genre I am generally drawn to, but once I started this book, I could not put it down again until I finished it! The characters are all very likeable, relatable, and believable, the story was well-written and came together beautifully. I had moments of laughter and moments where I cried right along with Ember (which, in my opinion, is part of the definition of a really good book). This was the first book I have read by Sharon Srock, but I am sure to continue reading more of her writing!

Let Go and Receive

Betrayal is horrible, as a word, as an action, and as an emotion. Quinn’s and Amanda’s betrayal of Ember was unintended but that didn’t erase and of the hurt. But when the need arose Ember didn’t hesitate to open her heart and life to accept two precious girls and raise them as her own. But life has a way of bringing surprises when least expected. After 10 years of harboring anger and bitterness will God showEmber what’s in her heart, help her release it and forgive? Will Ember take that step and receive the life God is offering her?

Ember

I love second chance love stories. Ember and Quinn story is a good one. Also books with children in it are good and with a puppy is even better. I did feel bad for Ember at times. Having to deal with the girls dad coming back. It was a surprise for her. Quinn just wants to get to know his girls. My favorite characters was the girls. They were so sweet.

What a wonderful book! It's a truly inspirational read. Ember and Quinn's story is full of emotions and will keep you turning the pages. It's a beautifully written story about betrayal, forgiveness and second chances that will make you laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between. I loved how Ember and Quinn put the two girls feelings above theirs. This is a *must read* book.

Having read and enjoyed a number of author Sharon Srock's books, I knew I was in for a treat with Ember. Ember is the beginning of a new series for Srock and I can't wait for more to come. Her characters are strong, lovable, and believable, people you would like to have as your own friends. The style of writing is pleasing to read and the storyline kept my interest throughout the entire book. Twists and turns to the plot keep the story moving quickly and woven throughout are strong Christian values that give readers a heartwarming and inspirational read. In this story, child custody is one of the main topics touched on and, personally having a family member in the midst of this legal battle, I can heartily say the reality of this very difficult situation is depicted well. I enjoyed seeing Ember and Quinn find a second chance at love, despite the deep emotional wounds of the past.

Forgiveness then blessings.

What a wonderful story. I enjoyed Ember and Quinn's story so much. After stepping in to become a guardian to a dying friend's children, a whole world of unexpected and surprising issues appeared for Ember. Forgiving the two people who had betrayed her years ago, became the only way to finally move on with her life. Letting God be her guide to working her heart breaks into His blessings for her life.

Very emotional

The number of changes that take place in this story right from the beginning is mind-boggling. The issues Ember has to work through, extremely demanding. It all sounds and looks good on the surface. However, underneath seethes a spirit of unforgiveness & resentment. Everything looks like it's working out fine; thank goodness it all gets sorted out for real by the end. A good read in a great series.

This is a great ongoing series from an author unashamed of her faith. That she has such a perspective on the rocky shoals even Christians encounter is a blessing in itself. I found myself tearing up on interactions between Ember and the girls she is caring for. Precious moments indeed

What a great novel! It is my first by this author but will not be my last. I loved the characters – how they made mistakes but listened to God. I really felt for Ember and her difficult love life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this in one sitting where made some housework may have gotten neglected. I love stories that authentically show forgiveness and love in action. Sometimes it’s a process, sometimes it’s all at once. You won’t regret reading this. The characters are down to earth, there’s humour and of course a beautiful love story.

Usually I am not a fan of books that are strictly romance because at my age I have found that I can do without all the mushy stuff but this book was different and it didn’t take long for me to get involved in the story of the lives of Ember, Quinn and their two girls. It was a really good story line and good writing with a very satisfying ending. Really did enjoy it.

Great story!!

What a blessing to find such supportive friends as Ember ran her store, Crafted with Love. And what a joy to be raising the two precious daughters of her childhood friend who lost the battle to cancer. And then there was Quinn, who was finally released from prison after being absolved of theft and prayed to be able to find his two daughters.
