It’s perhaps a little churlish to be overly critical of any writer when you’ve never written a book yourself. It’s quite an accomplishment in and of itself. Particularly when it’s on a subject the author clearly is passionate about. Who wants to tell anyone that their passion is just a little bit ridiculous?
Having said that, I’m not coming from a place where I think believing in Bigfoot is ridiculous. I’m not a believer but I’m here in your book so....what have you got for me to make me reconsider?
Not a whole lot it turns out.
If the author had approached this book from the point of a sceptic, such as: I think it might be true and here’s why, he’d have my attention. But he comes at the reader with such a surety and confidence that Bigfoot absolutely exists, that he sets the bar very high.
Much higher than some curiously arranged sticks in the woods, magical inter-dimensional portals transporting sasquatches to and fro, and comparisons to ghosts and Mothmen(!) can make up for.
When an explanation for the absence of evidence of a supernatural being is more supernatural phenomena, that’s when I start checking my watch and slowly walk away.
Why are these sticks piled up that way?
Must be a Bigfoot!
Strange sounds in the woods?
Sasquatch!
Why don’t we see them?
They actually follow us too so are aware of cameras and avoid them (!?). Oh and they use space portals to avoid detection (!?!?)
There’s more I want to say here but I’ll hold my tongue and my snarkiness in check. In short, if you’re passionate about something, yay! Lean into it and say your peace. Confidence is cool. Confidence without anything to back it up, not so much.

This is Nonfiction. I'll first preface my review by stating that I'm not a believer but with that said, this book was entertaining. So the three stars are for that. I liked hearing about the searches, the possible sightings and the determination of the seekers.

My only real issue with this one is that there were plenty of contradictions in this. When I'd catch one, I always asked myself, "Well which is it?" Even after centuries of searching for the elusive Bigfoot there is still no proof. And after reading this, it seems like the only evidence might be some footprints, a few thrown rocks and some sticks. But I still enjoyed reading this one, but only 3 stars from me.

I'm no stranger to Bigfoot. I'm a fan and a believer. I love hearing different takes and details from those who are always on the hunt for Sasquatch.

I enjoyed learning about all the different groups there, are across different locations, who volunteer and are part of the Sasquatch search. I also liked his take on the trees and structures. That said, if I'm being completely honest, I felt some parts of this book were a little bro-ish or as if the author thinks very highly of himself. Nothing super wrong with it but to me maybe felt a little off-putting? Hard to explain. The images are not of the best quality so I'd like to go online if they're available to view and see if they're a bit better. Otherwise another to add to my sasquatch book collection.

Review of “On the Trail of Bigfoot: Tracking the Enigmatic Giants of the Forest” by Mike Dupler, narrated by Eric Michael Summerer

⭐⭐⭐☆☆

So, I picked up the audio version of “On the Trail of Bigfoot: Tracking the Enigmatic Giants of the Forest” with high hopes, being a bit of a Bigfoot enthusiast myself. It’s definitely got some good stuff going for it, but I’m giving it three stars for a few reasons.

There’s a ton of info in there about Bigfoot sightings. The author really dives deep into different stories and theories, which is cool. But, it felt a bit all over the place.

Overall, “On the Trail of Bigfoot” is a decent read if you’re a believer. You’ll definitely learn a lot. But it could use a bit more focus, some deeper analysis, and maybe a sprinkle of excitement in the writing.

I can't believe I read a book about Bigfoot. I'm not a believer but thought I'd read something out of the ordinary for me to expand my horizons a bit. This was not it. I credit the author for writing about his passion and am sure the book will have its fans, but I'm not among them. Even from a scientific perspective, there wasn't anything here that I would consider proof, just a lot of "it could be" and theories that Bigfoots (I didn't know that was the plural!) are either smarter than us so they evade our eyes, or they are always watching so they don't get caught on camera, or they are even supernatural maybe? I didn't really find this informative or entertaining, but I'm sure plenty of people out there will.

Very good book on the subject.Easy read and great overview and has a lot of personal experiences.
I would have loved to give this book 5 stars, but the fact that the author went on a bear hunt prevented me from doing so. If the writer goes on a hunt again, I hope he gives the animal a weapon too.

A reasoned study of the Bigfoot phenomenon by an experienced woodsman. One of his theories is a bit "out there" (I won't spoil the book for you by saying which), but he makes it seem logical, if not necessarily the right one.

This book was entertaining and informative. I'm a huge Squatcher, so I knew pretty much everything in here, but it was still fun to listen to and hear different perspectives. Definitely a recommended read to anyone who wants to learn a bit more about Bigfoot!

For anyone interested in the subject this doesn't cover new ground but a nice compiling of info for those who are intrigued but don't know where to start.
