What an absolutely fabulous whirlwind of an ending! And while this is *technically* the last book in the Roak series, I’m VERY happy that Bible left the ending open enough that he could continue writing more Roak at some later date in the future, should the urge (or plot ideas) strike him. This is my second favourite series of his, after Z-Burbia. Speaking of which, I’m glad to have already read all of the books that are written/linked within the same universe. Having Salvage Merc One and the SMC bosses show up in the storyline was delightful. Incidentally, I would LOVE if Bible were to write either another book, or even a short story detailing the trip Salvage Merc One made to Father’s universe. Agent Prime also made an appearance, and I haven’t read that one, but it is sitting on my shelf and is also on my “short list” of books to read sooner rather than later (of the over 800 other books I haven’t read yet also sitting on my shelves 😅). ANYway, I’m tired and have blown off course slightly in this review....Yellow Eyes is still one of the most unique, and utterly endearing secondary characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. All in all, this entire series is the perfect mix of violence, mayhem, plot twists, and hilarity.

Meh. The last two books in this series just felt so forced. Let’s leave the character behind and throw every trope I can in. Roak no longer has the skills that made him awesome—nah he’s weak, second guesses himself, and is basically not worth reading about. Just feels like author threw up on the page- what can I do now- oh yeah a multiverse- that will solve all my problems with material. Sheesh.
Sidenote: as an audiobook listener, this series also jumped the shark when the author decided to be his own voice actor. Seriously? Tell me you wrote the Roak character with that gravel voice in your head the whole time! No way. Could barely stand to listen to the author voice his own characters.
Book 7 “Roak’s War” is the alleged final installment of Mr. Jake Bible’s “Roak” series.
The series has been woefully uneven in its execution, and the last book ends on a whimper, though the writing is tighter this time out.
The plot devices employed by Mr. Bible to move along the storyline are self-serving, fantastical, and firmly rooted in a comic book style. Think of ‘Hulk’ or ‘Fantastic Four’ in space, and you’ll get the theme.
Reads fast, fun, and cartoonish. No gray cells required.
Not a good ending, but a nice one I've read the entire series end to end in one go and it starts off slow, but stick with it, as the story progresses I rated the books better and the last the best The best way to describe the whole series is "it's fun". The characters develop and the inter team repartee gets better, you start laughing The whole concept is not one I have read about before, it's novel. OK so the basic concept is nothing new, but the idea of mother, father and siblings certainly is Stick with it, it's worth it
The final installment of Roak's war with Father and Mother comes to its conclusion and we got more Roaks for even more mayhem. Good book as Roak and the 'not' team try to pull an army together, as Father continues to take over every being in the universe. The new characters blend in well, with yellow eyes still providing the best humour.
It's taken us a while ,but having this side of the story told is a must and after all the 8 ........ This is not the way I thought it would go but it does work and if anything else, this gives even more of an interesting universe. Fingers crossed after a break we get more Bible stories
Read every book in the series. Fascinating characters, action packed and intensely entertaining. Hope to future books and find out what his dream is all about.
Great book loved the story and the book narration all the books in the series are amazing I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍😀
