“Punish me.” Just two words sealed my fate. Eli took me and made me his. I didn’t know the submission he’d demand from me. Or the secrets I kept buried deep inside. But there was more beyond this dark wish of mine. More hidden behind those perfect dark lies of his. Because it wasn’t just my soul that craved redemption. And when a powerful man becomes obsessed with a woman … He’ll do whatever it takes to twist her… Keep her… And own her.

Are you ready to go back to the house? Eli and Amelia are back in book 2 of the House of Sin series. This begins where the cliffhanger left us. When Amelia finally discovers what she couldn’t remember from her past will it change her? Can Eli truly be a salvation for her or will he still be the villain? Get ready for this romantic suspense full of action, twists and where secrets are finally revealed. “When we’re in the dark, we just don’t see the light.” I really enjoyed this new world mixed with cultish vibes and dark romance. Told in dual POV
Plot Summary : Amelia is done being manipulated by Eli. She has run away and there is no way she is coming back. If only it were that easy. Eli has no plans to let her go until she knows the whole truth and the depth of his depravity.
There are things that she does not know and he is going to tell her. No matter how much Amelia protests, she is here for the long haul and Eli is going to bind her to him in every way possible.
Overall Opinion : Omg, after that explosive ending of the first book, this book was literally on the top of the most anticipated list of my reads!! Eli is now my favorite anti hero of all time. The man is ruthless in what he does and he has no plans to let Amelia go. No matter how much she runs, he is going to find her and then there will be hell to pay.
Only things don't turn out like that. It seems like he was bound to punish her and ended up falling for her instead. And now she hates him.
The house of Sin is a depraved place owned by Eli and now Amelia is stuck there with nowhere else to go but to play Eli's games. She is not going to give in that easy. She is unwilling to be here and she won't stop until she is free. If only the Devil of the house doesn't manage to make her fall in love with him first.
A must read for all the dark romance lovers!! I am so very obsessed with this duet. It had everything I want in my books and is hella amazing! It's dark, depraved and so dirty. It had plot twists with a lot of steam too. A mist read and highly recommended to all the dark captive romance lovers out there!!
🌺 BOOK DESCRIPTION 🌺 Every dark wish, Costs a lie to make reality.
Dark. Delicious. Sizzling Hot. Clarissa has written a perfect dark romance that had me raptly turning the pages. The heat between the main characters had my kindle steaming up. It was delicious torture experiencing this forbidden love.
Dark lies starts up right where Dark Wish left off. And so we get to continue with Amelia & Eli's story. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster right right from the beginning. They both had their separate issues but they were actually quite perfect for each other.
Wow! What a perfect ending to this duet. To say I love this story is an understatement! This book is simply extraordinaire. This book was grippingly deceitful. When I finished this book, I needed a moment to process and savor just how incredible it was. Dark Lies was powerful, tragic, and beautifully heartbreaking in every way possible. Clarissa Wild knows how to write a villain by showing redemption and make you fall in love with him. Clarissa will push a serrated knife with her intense and raw words until your heart bleeds with emotions. What can I say? Did you ever read a book that had your heart racing, or make you start crying, or makes you hate the hero? Well, this book did all of that to me—thinking the story was going to go one way when BAM—out of nowhere it turns. I feel like I got off a crazy roller coaster ride from hell! But, it was amazing and my blood was pumping like crazy reading this book. Amelia and Eli are full of surprises—I was flabbergasted with the unexpected revelations that happened. Their journey was a wild ride. Two ruined lives, two people fighting for a chance, finding each other and making a life. The darkness inherited in the characters will make you afraid to turn the page, but the sexiness of it all will assure that you do. Despite being haunted by the demons of their pasts, as their secrets unfold, the masks that they hold in place slip off notwithstanding being tortured and broken, they seemed perfect for each other...until they weren’t. Find out what Eli did to Amelia—you will be astonished! Of course, there’s more to their story than can be surmised in a few sentences, but will Eli justify his behavior to Amelia? There are several twists and turns within the story that will tempt the characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Clarissa Wild delivered a powerful, addictive, intriguing, and all-consuming dark romance that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that you will not be able to put this book down. I highly RECOMMEND this book! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The final story of Eli and Amelia is here❣️The first story reveals a shocking truth at the end about Amelia and why Eli has brought her to the House of Sin. Following this revelation, Amelia decides its in her best interest to once again try to flee the House....which leads to repercussions but not like the first time😢
An intriguing twist in this duet conclusion and exposure of all the Lies told....a definite must read story😁 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️
Dark Lies by Clarissa Wild is book Two in the House of Sin Series. This continues the story of Eli and Amelia, so you should read the first book 'Dark Wish' before starting this one. The previous book was nothing short of a page turner just like all Ms. Wild's books I have read. Eli is out to firmly secure Amelia while still learning to bend to her wishes. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Wow! This Is An Intense Read. Eli & Amelia’s Dark Romance Comes To A Heartfelt Conclusion. It Is A Thriller Set In A Mysterious World Steeped In Some Extreme Religious Notions. The Truth Is Unclear As Good & Evil Are Painted In Shades Of Grey.
This is book two of a the House of Sin duet. Book one, Dark Wish, ended in a cliffhanger.
While this new duet stands independently, fans of His duet (Under His Rule and Beyond His Control) will be thrilled with this new story. That duet is Noah and Natalie’s story. In His Duet, Natalie befriends April while in the Family’s Holy Land. April had a very minor role. As the duet comes to a close, April remains missing without a trace. She shows up here in a minor role as well. Note also that April finally gets her own story with Soren (who is introduced here) in Dark Need.
For those that have read His duet, there are many parallels between that and the House of Sin duet. The couple had met or known one another in their youth, making a lasting impression on the boy. As the boy grows into a man, he seeks out the girl and eventually finds her, bringing her back to his home. In His duet the home is in a cult; in House of Sin the home serves a dark religious purpose. In both stories the woman escapes, and both men must come to terms with the life they were brought up to live. Each is in a position of leadership and faces political obstacles. They spend a great deal of time studying their books. Nevertheless, these are entirely separate stories set in the same world. A fan of His duet should absolutely enjoy House of Sin. FROM DARK WISH, BOOK ONE:
Amelia, twenty-three, loves books. She is intelligent and hard-working, yet has a big heart and innocent outlook on life. She dreams of bigger things while complacently accepting her status quo. She works part-time at the library – her dream job – but it doesn’t pay the bills. With the pressure of student loan payments, she must resort to a second job unless or until a full-time position at the library comes along. She might be shy, but she is determined to make her own way in life even if that means working as a cocktail waitress at a strip club. She can mostly handle herself on the job, though the customers at Joe’s Hotties sometimes do get a little handsy. She lives with her boyfriend Chris, whom she doesn’t get to see much of with all her evening shifts. He keeps busy with his own job too, and finding time for one another is a challenge. When a strange man starts appearing in her life, the coincidences are suspicious and yet Amelia cannot shrug the magnetic pull she feels for the stranger. She dreams of being romanced in spite of her concerns.
Eli, about thirty, is following in his father’s footsteps. He grew up in a private and luxurious lifestyle where he had been homeschooled his entire life. His mother passed when he was a teen, leaving him conflicted. She had never really wanted him, but his father was always away for days at a time. The influential people that frequently visited their home made his father an eminently powerful man. The family business had been handed down for generations, and as a child Eli eagerly looked forward to stepping into his father’s shoes and learning about their mysterious business. It is divine work, so there is no shame in what they do. The House of Sin is a special place where sinners earn their freedom. The price of freedom is sometimes daunting, and some might consider the House a prison. Pain and punishment are part of the experience. In a carefully controlled environment, punishers work for the greater good by bending morals and ethics. They serve a special function in society. There are many rules to follow, which keep the punisher in line as he doles out humility, hoping to earn a confession. Lust is used as a tool – frequently – but the punisher can never be ruled by it without falling into sin himself. Walking the line is a difficult task, but it was what Eli was born for.
When a girl on the sidewalk makes Eli do a double take, the course of his future is altered. He is entranced by her beauty and innocence. Determined to have her for himself, he decides to make it happen. But business just isn’t done this way, and it requires bending some rules. Fortunately for him, everyone is a sinner. He will watch, judge, and punish Amelia. He isn’t supposed to intervene, but his sense of self-control around her is put to the test. When he asks what her darkest desire is, her answer takes him by surprise. His obsession with her will certainly break him – maybe even before he breaks her. Their story ends in a cliffhanger and continues in book two, Dark Lies. IN THIS BOOK:
As book one closes, Eli has finally helped Amelia recover her memory of the night of her birthday. Unlike most at the House of Sin, she had been taken against her will for a crime that she didn’t remember – and the nature of her crime remained unknown to her. She had believed that her kidnapping was just a mind game meant to keep her complacent and tucked away as Eli’s personal toy. Everything changes in a heartbeat when her memories return, though, as Amelia begins to understand that she had truly belonged in the House of Sin. She is a sinner, and her crime was heinous. Eli had put the House at risk by bringing her in the way that he did, but he knew no other way. He had to have the angel. Since everyone is a sinner, it only took him patiently waiting and watching for him to snatch her up at the appropriate time. He hadn’t understood her or known her experiences well enough to judge her reactions, though, and things had gone further than he planned. But with Amelia’s memories recovered, she has earned her freedom. She goes to Eli willingly.
This story opens with Amelia catching on to the fact that Eli had probably played a role in that fateful evening. With all trust shattered, she escapes the island with the hope of returning home to find answers. Her journey is not easy, and Eli is mad with worry about her safety after discovering she left. He is determined to bring her back. Insisting she is the one, his choice, he hastily decides to make his vow that Amelia will become his wife and continue the family line. It is the greatest vow that the man in charge of the House takes, and he must keep it. Tobias, his assistant, continues to discourage Eli about Amelia and the vow, insisting it will bring everything down. Despite that fact that Tobias, too, has developed feelings for one of their former guests, Anna, he steadfastly stands by the rules. Tensions between Eli and Tobias rise, but Eli insists he will go after Amelia himself and bring her home.
When Eli finds her, Amelia is very much a new woman. Her time at the House, and her atonement, had made her stronger and more self-confident. She knows she holds all the cards now that she has gained her freedom, so after a tender reconciliation she agrees to accompany Eli to his home. Little does she anticipate that the House still holds secrets, and her power isn’t what she thought it was. She returns to a tension-filled House, free – but not truly. As her hopes are shattered, she closes herself off and becomes resigned to her unhappy situation. Amelia denies her feelings for Eli as he struggles to come to terms with the situation. He is a punisher, and the punisher’s job is mentally taxing. The punisher sins when punishing, so he in essence bares the sins of the sinners he punishes, and his back has the scars to prove it. The physical and mental toll requires immense focus and control. Hence the need for the book of rules for the House. Eli studies the rules hoping to find a way to forward, but without Amelia’s love he may just run out of options. The couple eventually earns a happy ending.
There are a few inconsistencies in the story that aren’t resolved. *Spoilers* For instance, Eli is surprised to see Tiffany at the apartment on Amelia’s birthday, yet he hired her. I had waited for an explanation, anticipating that he had hired her just for the first instance – when Amelia saw Tiffany and Chris together outside – and that what had eventually happened on the evening of Amelia’s birthday was not part of Eli’s plan but an organic event. He says he did not plan nor want for Amelia to sin and suffer as she did, so that makes sense. But elsewhere he says he wanted her to suffer as he did when he took her words to heart when they met as children at his mother’s funeral. Those words had prompted him to act out years later. And though he seems fine with the action he took against his father, he then wants her to pay for inspiring it. There are a few other instances. The confusion does slow down the reading a bit. On balance, however, the story is strong enough that these issues merit overlooking if you have read book one. It is still a good read.
Wow! This is an intense read. Eli and Amelia’s story has you on the edge of your seat throughout, trying to unwrap what exactly is taking place. Eli is all-powerful, full of rage and lust. He also has a tender side that appears much more in this book. He needs Amelia, and that need takes a bit of the edge off. Amelia is more spirited and self-confident in this book, but her pride still gets in the way and colors her actions. She has no clear understanding of the House and how it operates, especially not about the rules that govern Eli’s actions. In this story, it is Amelia that dishes out the punishment, but not in a formal sense. That doesn’t mean the House rules don’t have an impact on her, though.
The House continues to be seen from different viewpoints. Most guests choose to be there and appreciate that they have it as an option. But it is not an easy life for punishers, who are chained to the House for life and bound by its strict rules. Living in the House is not an easy life. Amelia thinks Eli and his staff are monsters, but those closest don’t see it that way. They see it as a place that offers sinners atonement and a second chance.
Eli and Amelia’s dark romance comes to a heartfelt conclusion. It is a thriller set in a mysterious world steeped in some extreme religious notions. The truth is unclear as good and evil are painted in shades of grey. The story is nicely written. It is complex and plot-driven. The storyline pulls you into the story. The characters are fascinating and unique. Eli’s transformation in incredible. His absolute selflessness might trigger a few tears. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Eli and Amelia. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well, that is what happens in Dark Lies, Noah and Natalie's story is a unique one that should be read. Clarissa Wild is one of my many favorite authors. She brings cults to life in her books and Dark Lies with her Family’s Holy Land storyline is one for the ages.
The House of Sin duet has come to an end and what an end it is. Dark Lies has been accurately titled because of the lies, deceit, and finally, honesty that comes from this book. When someone his whole life has been trying to do the right thing for possibly the wrong reason falls in love what happens then?
Noah has a lot of thinking to do in this second book. Everything he thought he was doing for his family's history and possible future, Natalie has brought into question. But can Noah give up everything he has been taught, has done, and will possibly do in the future for the love of his life?
The main protagonist honestly has the worst case of Stockholm syndrome since Belle from beauty and the beast. How she goes from completely hating him and wanting to kill him to loving him adoringly is completely unrealistic to me. No way I'm reading Soren and Aprils story, because it can only be worst

Dark Lies is the 2nd book of the House of Sin Duet. Dark Wish must be read first. If you have read Clarissa Wild, you know you are in for a dark, twisty, psychological read. If you haven’t, her books are not for the faint of heart. Her characters will have tragic pasts and their HEA will be fought hard for.
Dark Lies picks up right where Dark Wish ended. Amelia has remembered the circumstances that brought her to the House of Sin and starts to question Eli’s involvement. She flees the house to return home for answers. Once she is back in her apartment, her memories of her time with Chris have her admitting the painful truth of their relationship to herself.
Realizing she fled, Eli frantically follows her. Once he finds her, he doesn’t leave her much choice, but to come back to the island with him. Once back in the House, Amelia learns about the vow Eli made and the true reasons he brought her back.
Amelia begins to ice Eli out. She is angry, feeling betrayed, and hurt. Amelia is slowly unraveling Eli’s heart and he is torn between his love for her and his connection to the House.
As more of Eli’s past is revealed, Amelia struggles to accept her feelings. The darkness of his life is overwhelming. Eli is bound to the House and knowing how she truly feels- he sets her free.
When Amelia fully realizes the lengths Eli was willing to go- giving it all up to give her happiness, she sees how selfish she had been by not opening her eyes fully to what Eli was telling her.
This story has so many twists and turns. It is based on an archaic and sometimes barbaric way of handling sinners. The House caters on the Elite and their methods have been passed down from generation’s. It is all Eli has ever known and is ingrained in his way of thinking.
All he wanted was to save Amelia and in the end it was him who needed her.
“I have dreamed of this moment,” he murmurs against my lips as he thrusts into me. “Of loving you without repercussions.” “Then love me with everything you have.”
This is the second book in the series, and I do recommend reading them in order. Amelia is trying to get away, but will Eli let her go? This is a fast paced intense read with loads of drama and suspense. Great characters with steamy chemistry and lots of depth. I was hooked from beginning to end on this dark read. I loved it.
A dark & angsty delicious read that talked to my dark heart with all the angst and darkness as this is the conclusion to this duet. This picks up where book 1 left off and I have to say this book put me through my paces with the fmc Amelia I get why she was so mad at Eli for bringing (uh let's just admit he kidnapped her) to bring her to the House, but this girl has major trust issues and questions everything and Eli he's not a lil angel in this he has his own issues, but Amelia even tried my patience and I felt it took like forever for her to comprehend that not everything was the way she thought and perhaps Eli had his reasons for his actions granted I think he could've done some things a different way. This book had me glued to the pages I pretty much had it read in a couple of hours it was so good and these 2 I'm so glad even though it took both having to do a lil soul searching well 1 it did to know what had to be done. Definitely a must read.
WOW.....what a rollercoaster series!! Poor Eli and his father's rules, and not having his parents love as a child. But I'm glad he did break one rule and found the love of his life....♥️♥️♥️. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really wanted to like this series but I didn’t. It was just too much. It really didn’t make much sense. The emotions, the beliefs, it just ended up being weird.
I liked this second part more than the first, especially Eli. In the first part I didn’t like him very much, but in this he has managed to steal my heart. After finding out everything that happened on her birthday night and Eli’s involvement, Amelia escapes again and this time she manages to get home, but Eli soon finds her again and takes her back to the House, but before they share a very intimate moment in the shower🔥🔥🔥. Eli has vowed to have Amelia become his wife and bear his children who will end up inheriting his duties in the House. When Amelia finds out about this, she decides to stay away from him, despite how much it costs her. Eli tries to convince her to forgive him and give him a chance, and desperately he ends up revealing all his secrets and there is one in particular who ends up destroying Amelia and her trust. In this book we the depth of Eli’s feelings for her, in addition to the deep regret he feel for made her suffer for his selfishness, and seeing how he makes the ultimate sacrifice so that she would be happy moved me.🥲 The House of Sin has yet to tell the story of Tobias ( what will happen to him and Anna?) and Soren(who is the most mysterious character of all, why doesn’t he speak?). I’m dying to read these books.
“Did you know I was going to kill him?” I rub my lips together. He doesn’t reply, which tells me enough. But his face. God … his face … so full of misery and despair that it undoes me. I shake my head. “I can’t do this.”
“Look at me when you tell me you want to take away my freedom just so you can have your way,” she says through gritted teeth. “Look at me!” For the first time, it’s not me who’s the master … it’s her. She’s the master of my strings and always has been from day one. Her. This has always been for her and because of her. And I knew from the beginning all of this was going to be my undoing. Yet I could never, ever stop. A wretched smile forms on my face. “Yes.” Hatred fills her eyes, the look of which hurts far more than any of the scars on my back ever could. “You can take my body. Destroy my soul. But my heart … that needs to be earned. And you have wasted your chance,” she says, her voice riddled with agony and despair. “So take me. Take whatever’s left of me. But know when you do that it was you—not my sin, or the loss of my loved ones—who destroyed me.”
“Could you ever love a man like me?” “Love can’t be taken. It can’t be claimed. It can only be given,” she says, and then she looks away, taking my heart along with her gaze. “You will learn to love me again.”
“I couldn’t … have you.” Something twists at my insides. “You asshole!” I yell, slamming both my hands into his chest. “You made me sin just so you could bring me here!”. I lost the most valuable thing she ever gave me: Her trust.
“No matter how much I degraded you, no matter how much I tried to climb up that ladder of justice, I could never get even an inch closer to the saint that you are. And the longer I spend staring at you, the more I realize how grave the error of my ways. Because I see the pain I inflicted in you now. I am the devil who clipped the angel’s wings.”
Book two finishes where book one ends!!! And it doesn’t let up until the last page is finished.....
Trying really hard not to let any spoilers out for both the books.
Eli is close to breaking his own rules. He needs his angel, he can no longer function without her, but as he grapples with his decisions to help her heal, he also knows it could push her to the brink. And if that happens, he could lose her forever!
Amelia has had enough, she thought she could trust Eli, but that’s never going to happen. Escape is her only hope, can she get away? Because the more time she spends with him, the harder it is to reconcile that she’s his prisoner.
I loved this book, but out of the two I do like the first one slightly better. Eli is a little like a broken record with the sinner needs to repent! But I do like the internal struggle Eli has, his job has always been so clear cut, but with Amelia it’s hard, the lines are merging and he’s playing a dangerous game.
This book is dark and twisted, we see how Eli’s mind works, we can sort of see where he’s taking us, but some of the methods I don’t agree with (but that’s what makes is a good book). He could handle the situation and the sinners, but when his past starts merging with his present, you have to wonder how this is going to end! Secondary characters Soren and Tobias were great (Soren needs a book) they were the perfect balance to Eli. He could always rely on them until Amelia gets thrown into the mix..... And when we find out all the deep dark secrets that Amelia has, and the reasons why Eli wants her..... prepare for a bumpy ride.
Amelia prepares to make Eli’s life miserable! But what she doesn’t realise is that if she’s leaves, he’s going to be miserable anyway! He just has to use everything he’s learnt to persuade Amelia that they belong together.
It definitely took two books to tell this story, but I’m glad it’s only two (three would have been a mistake!) There are definitely a few moments you have to reread, there are also a few moments you get caught out by. But the more you read, the more you fall in love with Eli, you might want to hit him on several occasions, but there are also those moments you just want to tell him it’s going to be ok.
Highly recommended book, but grab the first one as well. You need to read in order.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.
Every dark wish, costs a lie to make reality. "Punish me." Just two words sealed my fate. Eli took me and made me his. I didn't know the submission he'd demand from me. Or the secrets I kept buried deep inside. But there was more beyond this dark wish of mine. More hidden behind those perfect dark lies of his Because it wasn't just my soul that craved redemption. And when a powerful man becomes obsessed with a woman.. He'll do whatever it takes to twist her.. Keep her.. And own her.
This is the second book in the House of Sin Duet from Clarissa Wild. You have to read Dark Wish first or you are going to be lost. This book picks right up where the cliffhanger in Dark Wish left us, with Amelia remembering the thing from her past that she couldn't remember. This is also why Eli has brought her to the House of Sin and boy oh boy is it a shocker. This too leads Amelia to the conclusion that she should once again try to escape the House of Sin and Eli. This poor girl is fed up to for Eli he is really close to breaking his own rules. Amelia is what he needs and he can not lose her no matter what. You might even say that she is his obsession. But he can't push her too hard about the secret or he knows that he cold lose her forever and he can't let that happen. I love these characters. I thought they had a really great story to tell even if it is dark and twisted. But, if you have read Clarissa Wild you know that she does dark and twisted really well and has written some of the best dark romances I have read. Just like always, she kept me on my toes. Had me on the edge of my seat. She even blew my mind a time or twenty. But, most of all she made me love these characters and I am sure they are two I won't be able to forget for a while.
While I read Dark Wish a little early for me, it was the opposite for Dark Lies. I put off reading it until I needed to because I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first book and I didn’t know how I would feel about this one. I felt similarly with Ms. Wild’s His Duet series where I didn’t particularly care for Under His Rule, but I really loved Beyond His Control, so I was keeping an open mind going into Dark Lies and hoping it would be the sort of same situation, but I didn’t want to go into this book with the expectation that I would love it because if it turned out that I didn’t, I was a little worried that might color my feelings for Dark Lies and that wouldn’t make for an enjoyable read. I don’t love Dark Lies as much as Beyond His Control, but I definitely had a better time with it than I did Dark Wish and I’m glad that I got out of my comfort zone again because it for sure paid off.
One thing that I liked about Dark Lies is that I really appreciated where Eli and Amelia end up when everything is done. They struggle a lot, but they ultimately overcome the demons they’re wrestling with and grow so much and I’m happy for them. They certainly frustrated me at times, but I was so invested in seeing where they would go. I was completely sucked in for the last half of the book and I truly could not pull myself away. I stayed up super late to finish Dark Lies and it was completely worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this duet, Dark Wish, I knew I was going to devour this one just as much.
So we pick up right where we left off from that cliffhanger from book one, and my gosh are we thrust right back in to the house of sin!!!!! Amelia escapes from Eli and starts to run from everything she's just found out about!! The cat and mouse game at the beginning between these two had me pulled in two directions, I wanted Amelia to run with all her might and live her life fully away from Eli, but I also wanted Eli to find her and drag her back at all costs.
We finally find out all the secrets he kept from Amelia and why he did it, we all know it's cause he fell in love with her and wants her no matter the costs and we do see that happen!!! His sheer Dominance had me fanning myself a few times lol but also his softer side and weaker side so to speak had me wanting to wrap him up and hug him. Eli really opens up in this book and yeah Amelia guards her heart from him to spite him, but deep down she knows if she falls for him she will have to stay trapped at the house with no freedom the poor girl is torn in two along with Eil also. The back and forth between them also had me screaming at my kindle a fair few times too!!
I honestly cannot fault this duet and Clarissa Wild knows how to write a story and pull you in from the very start!!!!!
After the emotional cliffhanger from the first book, I was so excited and a bit nervous to read the second book. Well.... Clarissa Wild delivered! And in what a way.... WOW! Just WOW!
Dark Lies (House Of Sin, #2) continues right where we left in the first book, and it gets more intense, more dark and more everything! The writing is on point and it really got me on the edge of my nerves.
Eli is a very dark and passionate man, but also sexy, strong and would do everything for Amelia. The love and hate between these two characters ist just amazing. It is like cat-and-mouse catch game. But who is who?
Amelia is so strong and an independet woman. She believes she knows what she wants. Her character is so complex, and Clarissa Wild did an amazing job by capturing her personality.
The love scenes were just so hot and explosive. I suggest you keep your B.O.B right beside you or you have to take a cold shower. Your choice!
DARK LIES is the second book in Clarissa Wild’s House of Sin duet and picks up right where book one left of with that nasty cliffhanger, throwing you right back into the dark and angsty and tension-filled deliciousness that is the house of sin. And, boy, was I ready to have my abundance of questions answered.
The continuation of Amelia and Eli’s story is as wild, untamed as the first instalment, though darker, more intense, more explosive … MORE! It’s thrilling and nerve-wracking and twisted – and not to forget those combustible steamy encounters … just … yowza! I loved Eli’s display of dominance as much as I loved glimpses at his softer side, the deeper look into how is mind works. Compared to book one, he seriously opens up here, all while remaining his enigmatic, twisted self.
The connection these two share is uncanny and complex. The constant back and forth between them electrifying as much as it is frustrating – to the point I was close to smashing my Kindle a time or two. Intense chemistry, secrets galore, and several unexpected twists and turns make this duet a delectable mysterious treat for all dark romance lovers out there.
I was really rooting for Amelia at the end of book one, and come book two, I was left feeling a little unsure of this MFC. I really expected more from this character, what though, I'm not sure, maybe a bit gustier, a bit more willing to fight instead of sitting around like a petulant kid playing silly games. Also, I'm just not sure how she could just flip her emotions on and off the way she does? One minute you absolutely despise this man and want nothing more than to be free, the next you are hanging onto him for dear life. I don't know, it just doesn't sit well for me. I wish there had been more of a chase when she managed to get back to her 'home', but even that trip back home was unrealistic at best. The whole return back home actually killed the vibe for me. And how does the drunk even manage to follow her home when she gave him the slip when she went into the bar?
It's definitely not a favorite for me. Nonetheless, Clarissa's writing is fluid and she pulls you in no matter what. I'll definitely be interested to read the next House of Sin installment.

First off Dark Lies is book 2 in the House of Sin Duet. Dark Wish must be read first as this is a continuation of Eli and Amelia's story. As with book 1 I am giving 3 stars. It's not even that this is badly written but that I've finally come to accept that I've fallen out of love with the kidnapped girl who falls in love with her tormentor trope. Honestly I think my conscience just can't accept the romanticizing of something that is actually happening to real women. I know these books are made up, it's not real and usually that's not an issue for me but it seems lately that I am just not enjoying this trope like I used to.
In regards to the book I honestly skimmed a fair bit of it especially all the sex scenes as it all just was a lot of the same. I don't feel my review is a fair judgment of this book so if this sounds like something you'd enjoy then you should just go for it. This author is fantastic and while I probably won't go back to her dark books I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her lighter reads.
I was pulled in right from the beginning. We start where book one left off.
Eli finally has his Angel. Amelia is struggling with her feelings, she wants to run but on the other hand she is falling for Eli and his dark side. Just when she thinks she got away, there is a twist and she’s back with Eli again. Eli is determined to get her to see how much he loves her.
Will Amelia accept Eli’s love before it’s too late? Will she succumb to her own feelings? Will Eli give everything up for his Angel?
Overall this was an edge of your seat read. I loved getting an even deeper look into Eli’s mind and just how his crazy world works. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get some steamy moments along with several unexpected twists and turns. There are some things that may cause triggers for some. If you enjoy dark, mysterious, steamy reads then this is the book for you, 1-click and get started today, but make sure you read book 1 first. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.
Dark Lies is the second book in the House of Sin Series. Dark Lies picks up where Dark Wish ended. This is a continuation of Eli and Amelia’s story.
More is explained as to what the House of Sin is.
“House of Sin, the place where the unwanted and the criminals are sent when they have no more place in society.”
I really enjoyed this story until it started to feel too long. I got where I was just ready for this book to end. Other than that, an enjoyable enough story that I do want to read the next book, Dark Need. It is Soren & April’s story. Both whom we have met in both Dark Wish and Dark Need. I am giving Dark Lies 3.75 Stars.
Note: I have Dark Need, Book 3 as an ARC and on my Kindle now. Clarissa Wild has a note saying that the book can be read as a standalone. But it is highly recommended to read Dark Wish and Dark Lies first for a better experience. So that is what I did. I was able to read this Dark Wish & Dark Lies on Kindle Unlimited. Now on to Dark Needs!
This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order. Amelia has finally remembers what Eli wanted her too. Only things don’t go the way he wants. Amelia can’t believe she did what she did and Eli’s part in it. She runs. But Eli won’t let her get to far before he brings her back. Eli is going to go through more than he put Amelia through before the end of the book. This book is a fantastic dark and twisty read. Clarissa you have done it again. The roles have turned and Amelia seems to have all the power now. She isn’t just going to fold and do what Eli wants. Yes, she loves him and lusts for him but she has trouble accepting her plot in everything. She was brought to the house by Eli not sent to them by family. How far is Eli willing to go to keep Amelia as his own. I can’t say enough about this book/duet. It is a must read. I love Clarissa’s books so much. I buy them without reading the blurb. Fantastic job Clarissa.
