Readers are loving this cozy mystery series with its two indomitable dog sleuths. Zack, Jillian and the corgis, Sherlock and Watson, are at it again in this delightful series that pulls you right in.
Zack, Jillian, and the corgis find themselves in the midst of a new mystery with a Thanksgiving twist. Just as they are planning a big holiday dinner, there are no cranberries to be found in the shops. In cozy Pomme Valley and other nearby towns, someone is breaking in and stealing only the cranberries! What's up with that?
The trail takes them to some unexpected places—meteorites? diamonds? missing baby formula?—and Zack is never sure where his trusty canine detective companions will lead him. Will the corgi duo, Sherlock and Watson, be able to sniff out the clues and discover who is behind the treacherous deed, in time to save holiday meals everywhere?

In September, 2020, the Corgi Case Files mystery series was picked up by Columbine Publishing Group and published under its mystery imprint, Secret Staircase Books. Beginning in 2023, all three fantasy series will also be published under the Secret Staircase Books imprint.
The corgis are back, Sherlock and Watson, along with their owner Zac and his fiancee Jillian, return in their 11th book.
There are a spate of grocery store burglaries, but some strange things are being stolen, cranberries being the main item. There's not a cranberry to be had, and since it's near Thanksgiving, the crime needs to be solved, and quickly!
Whilst the book doesn't refer to the Covid pandemic of 2020, elements of what happened this year are included in the book.
The author writes a good piece at the end of the book, which is very relevant to this time. In years to come it will mark the book as being released in a moment in history, not necessarily one of the best years, a strange, sad year for some, but a year when we all stayed home!
I've read all of the books in this series and they are all brilliant, really easy to read and are able to be read in an afternoon.
I'm looking forward to the next book to be released.
I just love this series. Zach and the Corgis are involved in tracking down a cranberry thief of all things! If you like dogs, mysteries, and a fun cast of characters, this book is for you. I recommend reading these in order to better keep track of who's who.
This was a decent cozy mystery with a major theft instead of dead bodies - a nice change of pace. The corgi dogs are so cute. I’m not a dog person, but even I’d like a chance to scratch their ears and rub their bellies. And the characters were well-done too - Zack, Jillian, Vance and all the others fit well into the story. So why not a higher score? Because the editing was awful. There were so many basic issues, I almost stopped reading - and would have, except I wanted to know who and how. Biggest continuity issues I remember: (1) she drives up the mountain in her SUV, but he drives down in his Jeep. (2) he gets a bag of cranberries from the grocer, puts it in his car, then never gives it to her and complains that there are no cranberries anywhere. (3) The use of the word “retard” is just wrong. There were other smaller ones, but these were the ones that stuck out. Recommendation: a decent mystery with good characters but definitely needs a better editor.
Cases of cranberries stolen from grocery stores! No fresh or frozen cranberries available for Thanksgiving! If you've never met these two fun and furry crime solvers (Mr Sherlock and Ms Watson) and their widowed humans, you're missing a lot of fun! All of the characters certainly are, and the sleuthing is well done. This time winery owner Zack and his friend, local police detective Vance, take the Corgis and go to several crime scenes where all those cranberries have gone missing. Zack's fiancee Jillian, owner of The Cookbook Nook, is planning Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas decorations, and the wedding, while keeping a hand in the investigation. And those Corgis just keep leading their humans by the nose til they get it right! Loved it! Easily a stand alone, but why?. Bob Johnson aces the narration with just the right touch that highlights the humor by downplaying the guffaws. I won this audio in a giveaway! Yay me!
I always enjoy these books. Corgis solving cases... what's not to love? This isn't your average scooby-doo tale, and in fact, it's not your typical Corgi Case File. A mystery without a murder was a bit of a fresh take that I enjoyed. I hope Mr. Poole continues to mix it up! So... what are all the cranberries missing? Tune in to find out!
As always, Bob Johnson does a brilliant job with the audio book narration. He truly is the perfect voice for this series!
Get your stuffing ready, find some cranberries before they all run out, and get ready to enjoy quite the Thanksgiving adventure!
Great as always can't wait for the next one a must read for any age great to give as a gift for any reader. Would be great to read to nursing home patients and take then a stuffed Corgi e as company
Another fun story with Sherlock and Watson, and their owner Zack. This time it is two weeks before thanksgiving and somehow the stores are all out of cranberries. Then the robberies start...
A very good book in my opinion. As usual the Corgis seem to have the clues well in hand from their very first involvement. The main characters continue to develop well. The plot was interesting but a little unbelievable unless you were from small town. Recommend as a good read.
And this book falls right into this classification. I used ‘Alexa’ to read which can lose some of the ‘joy’ of reading, but it works right now for me. I enjoyed this book and will read some more books by this author.
Oh, how I love this series and this is book 11. Sherlock and Watson are at it again solving the impossible cases. This book is just in time for the holiday reading and it is a fun read. Our narrator is again Bob Johnson and as always he does an excellent job of creating the scene for the caper. This book was just the story I needed to get my Thanksgiving shopping and cooking going. Can't wait for my adventures with Zac and his lovely dogs.
Zack and the dogs are at it again. It's Thanksgiving and cranberries are disappearing from a few stores. Loved the story as usual. Can't get enough of these dogs!
I think I am right in line to read the next one. Yay!!. I love the way the corgis get their puzzle pieces, pretty clever, sort of like playing clue. I'm getting a bit toward the senior side and I remember when clue came out but haven't played it for 55yrs!!!! I better buy a game and see if I'm correct. Anyway the beautiful way the dogs are characterized makes me feel like I have one of those hairballs around, nothing can bring more JOY into your life than any wonderful member of the canine family! Great mystery wonderful. Can I say this without you getting upset, crits are good for artisr
crits are good for artists. I know I have sat in on enough, I'm an artist, retired. I wonr if you would consider not always go to the beginning of all your books? Your still one of my vavorite authors, now on too the next book!
