Azusa is still hell bent on finding out information to take down Karino and makes a deal with class geek Inuki, to take photos in exchange for information. Too bad he doesn't know how lewd Inuki expects them to be for those photos or how far he's willing to go to get the perfect shot.

This is probably the most graphic volume yet. I'm not sure how Azusa hasn't lost his fighting spirit because the amount of shit that he's been through at the hands of Tarino and his classmates would have been enough to break anyone. It's as if he's now running 100% on revenge and rage. Be prepared to witness scenes of physical and mental abuse as well as multiple scenes of rape.

It should be noted that something is starting to shift, or become apparent, in Karino and Azusa's relationship. Azusa has gotten used to being punished by Karino and on some deeper level I think he actually enjoys it. And Karino, being the sadist that he is, enjoys his play thing a little too much, and, despite how much he threatens Azusa with allowing the class to have their way with him, I don't think he's willing to share him with anyone.

Twisted—I don't know what to say anymore.

I just feel sad for that couple hiding their relationship because the stupid game is not letting them be themselves (the idiot photography guy and the cross-dresser.) AND WHAT WITH THAT NEW VILLAIN AT THE END OF THIS VOLUME. I HATE HIM SO MUCH. (Not that I adore anyone in this series though, they're all trashy sorry—but I like Atsumu/Kuze couple more than the others though if I should choose.)

And the side story, I'm getting dizzy with the appearance of new characters. Now, who the f are those people—that karate guy and the one with the hair highlights. Seriously, I can't remember their names. It just wouldn't stick with me. This series is overloading with so many couples, like seriously.

And homophobia is very evident here, with the humiliation of the cross-dresser guy—fudge, now I remember, Angie and Takeru! Geez.

It was just beautiful, them quitting the game and outing their relationship, even with other people gossiping about them. They're just taking in that spring breeze without a care in the world. Until the stupid new villain did his evil job of printing various cross-dressing photos of Angie and letting the world know. Poor boys.

CW: Sexual assault, Gang rape, Mental abuse, Physical abuse, Coercion, Homophobia

This volume finally gives us a little more development with our main couple, Asuza and Karino. Their relationship is twisted and based on revenge and abuse, but they're slowly starting to realize that they're connected to each other. It is a very slow messed up relationship, but I'm here for it. I understand that this is fiction.
Once again, Ogawa sensei writes a compelling story. I appreciate their artwork. Each of their characters has a unique style and it helps in telling their stories and getting into the psyche of each character.
This volume introduces a new couple that I can root for. One is on the higher end of the caste system, while the other is lower on the food chain. The higher up is someone who loves traditionally "girly" things. He loves magical girls, and cross-dressing. Whereas the geek is an outcast and quiet. They work together so well.
I really loved this volume. This series continues to fascinate me, despite being so dark and twisted.

It's great, I'm officially hooked and invested to see what comes next. Azusa still hasn't made any strong allies and it is clear from the last volume and this one that not only are students after him but the deranged teacher (and unfortunately not all of that occurred in this volume). The relationship this volume focuses on, Inukai & Anji, was a bit predictable but I did thoroughly enjoy the acceptance of oneself at the end and the fact they both quit a quite ridiculous game.
I think the reason why I'm enjoying this is that it's not one character-focused, but differing relationships, interactions and perspectives among many 'couples' (not sure if that's the appropriate term for most) and each are going through their own difficulties be like self-acceptance, confidence or even just learning to empathize with others. All the characters are going through typical high school, albeit the fact it also includes the sexual frenzied and disturbing kind too.
I'm also enjoying the side story characters as they shie light on some of the characters we see that aren't in the spotlight and I'm hoping we'll get volumes focused more on their relationships too. This wasn't a five-star cause it was predictable, but also the relationship I was interested in wasn't as compelling or interesting as Tasumi & Senzaki, and I'm also sad that we are seeing a bit less of Tatsumi as he is my favourite character thus far.

This volume got really dark in terms of the Game aspect and people’s relationships. I’m not excited to see how things devolve but I am excited to see how Karino and Azusa grow closer.

WooHoo! We're back to Azusa and Karino, with an added spice of a school sports day.
There's a new guy - Eno - messing with the Caste rules/system, which is definitely going to make the future stories WAY more interesting. Especially since he seems to have a thing for Azusa.
There were more of the side characters than central characters here, but it added some more intrigue and mystery to the story.
It also explored the guy who became the Queen in another class, and how it came about (more rape *sigh*) but I'd LOVE to see more of their dynamic. The two characters really seemed interesting, with intriguing motivations, and the whole idea of a male being the Queen seems to be a surprise for more, so I'm guessing the general rules are that you conform to your gender (e.g. if you find the Queen, you give it to a girl, like how the ex-Queen gave the Jack to Kuze, previously). This adds an interesting twist, since the character is a male who is actually choosing to keep the Queen card, to make a point.

Review for volume 1-5

Caste Heaven is appallingly cruel and tasteless. It could have been an interesting read about social hierarchy at school and bullying, but any hint of a good story this might have possessed was drowned out in the way it is delivered. This takes place in a high school where all students participate in a caste game: everyone is assigned a card that marks their social status and the lower you are the more you get bullied. Bullying, though, is an understatement - there are multiple rape scenes per chapter within the first volume alone.

The actual story takes a complete backseat and is ultimately just a means to an end for characters to have sex, a lot of which is at the very least borderline rape. Apart from the fact that this entire game is completely messed up and unrealistic, I found it very hard to stomach and am baffled that people actually enjoy this. I would have dropped this after the first two chapters had I not already owned the volumes. If nothing else, I can say that rather than improving, Caste Heaven stays true to its themes and only introduces new oddly-matched couples - why is it that non of these characters are even remotely sane? I'm getting rid of this - I don't care how it ends and I don't recommend it. I shall end this the way it started: this manga is nothing short of cruel and in poor taste.

Story 4,4/5
Emotionen 3,6/5
Charaktere 4,6/5
Zeichenstil 4,4/5
Lesegefühl 4,4/5
Gesamt 4,4/5

I really don’t understand this caste game. I don’t see how it can defy outside social positions to such great lengths. I don’t get how parents and teachers are oblivious. Well, the teachers just ignore it is the best explanation, but why? I’m confused, but manga does bring up the Stanford prison experiment as justification, I suppose. Also, there’s an almost gang rape and the main boy can never seem to catch a break. Let’s stop with the rape, please. The new couple sucked. I don’t feel bad about the leaked photos. There’s a bonus couple which made me question the caste game even more as to how it affects extra curricular activities. Actually, since it was non consensual sex, I can’t call them a couple. I didn’t care for any of the connections or new villains. Plus, my favorite pairing never made came back.

[rating = B]

This series is sometimes hard to read because of its graphic nature. Also, I find it entirely unrealistic that so many people in this world, in this school, have homosexual tendencies. I mean, yes I love it! But not something you'd find on our boring planet. I just bought the next two volumes and since it takes me an hour or so to read them, I am saving them, even though I want to know how Karino and Azusa finish each other off. Who, really, will be the King of the Cast(l)e.

I’ve got so many thoughts about this series I really enjoy the side couples I think that they make up so much of the story and I want all of them to end up together. The dynamics and stories behind each set of characters is so interesting and I am ready to see where I am taken. I am nervous being half way through I hope that somehow they do end the cast system.

Wow!! Another great volume! The dynamics between the different couples is again so complex! That bad person at the end! Poor Angie! I wonder if he will be back after his secret was revealed, people just play dirty all the time! I’m looking forward to the trip and what will happen there! ❤️❤️

Ok....while the story is getting interesting. I kinda feel overwhelmed with all the new couples/characters every volume is introducing. I wish they would stick with just 2-3 couples and just build their story.

Finally! Some development for the MCs. The villain was teased at the end of vol 3 and once again appears at the end of vol 4?... Hmmm...🫠
But the side story was hot.
