I have never read a book by Pamela Desmond Wright before but after reading THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN I will read every book she writes. I instantly felt like I was sitting at the Schroder kitchen table helping Gail try and figure out what direction her life was heading to. Gail’s ranch manager who left over night also stole $150,000 from her. THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN is filled with just as much hope as it is with grief. My emotions were all over the place while reading and I was even holding my breath at some parts that I was afraid to keep going. How much more heartache and grief could Gail put up with?

THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN is filled with struggling with the choices we have to make and once you start reading, it will be impossible to put down. Keep the tissues close by because this will be one heck of an emotional journey. Will Levi ever find his place in the world, overcome his grief, and be happy once again? Levi is a troubled soul who has made some bad decisions when he was a teenager that he has many regrets about. He is also a very loving father to his son, Seth. He is also trying to make a more stable life for his son. Pamela Desmond Wright does a wonderful job of teaching the reader what Levi is going through. She really knows how to write about family drama, heartbreak, and forgiveness. I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author.

THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN is filled with likable and relatable characters that will find their way into the reader’s heart. Pamela has a way of grabbing your heart and just squeezing it until you swear it is going to burst. Then she hands it back to you, slightly bruised but still in tact. How an author can do that is beyond me, but I love when it happens. THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN is going to stay in my heart for a long time to come. My heart is still aching for Levi after everything he went through.

The author's writing is new to me and I am so glad I got a chance to read it.
The book revolves around an Amish woman who along with her sister's runs the family farm after their parents death.
I enjoyed reading the book and thought it dealt with very realistic topics such as running an Amish farm, theft and the return of a former Amish man who is facing his own problems and returns to his community with his son in tow.
I really liked Gail and Levi's characters. They have a good heart, they get along well and are respectful towards each other.
Gail and Levi are each facing their own problems, Gail with facing the possibility of losing the farm and Levi has secrets from his past that he thinks Gail will not understand and that he fears will hold him back from doing what he feels in his heart he wants to do.
I loved his son he was a welcome addition to the book, such a sweet little boy and it was so welcoming seeing the loving relationship Levi has with his son. He will do all in his power to protect him.
I look forward to reading more by this author.

Gail Schroder, eldest sister, is left to manage the family ranch after the passing of her parents. Little does Gail know, her ranch manager who left over night also stole $150K from her. The Amish don’t usually turn to the law, but with threat of the bank foreclosing on her home and property, Gail doesn’t have much of a choice. Right when Gail is losing hope on salvaging this mess, an old family friend shows up on her doorstep. Levi Wyse and his young son Seth plan on resting up and helping out at the ranch until the next rodeo circuit and the Schroder’s can get back on their feet. Levi ends up finding more than he could have hoped for, and maybe a way back to what he thought was lost forever. Can Gail and Levi save the family ranch? Will the ex ranch manager and her stolen money be recovered? Can Levi and Seth finally have the life they always dreamed on?

I enjoy reading Amish books and getting that little glimpse into how they live. This book was a little different than my typical Amish books because one of the main characters was an Englisher bronc rider in a professional rodeo circuit. This was a quick read, but I wasn’t fond of the rodeo parts or the branding cattle. Not a big deal or even a big part of the story, but still. The branding was mentioned because Of the cattle theft and how they were trying to prevent it happening again. The romance level was subtle but nice. You don’t get steam with Amish books, but that’s fine with me. The author did good building the setting and characters with this short read.

The Cowboy’s Amish Haven by Pamela Desmond Wright is a charming and unique Amish novel. I thought the story was well-written with likeable characters. I enjoyed the lovely descriptions of Texas. The author brought the vistas alive with her word imagery. The story moved along at a gentle pace that suited the book. I liked that this was different from other Amish stories. I thought the storylines were realistic. Grief, stolen money, debt, and the struggle of running a ranch are explored. I liked that Levi Wyse was a rodeo rider who traveled around the country from one rodeo to the next. Levi pulls his trailer along that is the home to him and his adorable five years son, Seth. I just loved Seth. He added lightness and humor to the story as well as that “ahhh” factor. We get to see the realities of ranching (branding the calves, the struggle with the weather) and of being a rodeo rider. I thought the author captured it very well. The faith element was nicely done. It hit just the right mark for me. There is tension in the story that will have you eager to see how things turn out for Gail, Levi, Seth, and the Schroder sisters. I appreciated the epilogue which nicely wrapped up this book. I hope we get a book for each of Gail’s sisters. I would like to see how their stories play out. This was the first book that I have read by Pamela Desmond Wright and I look forward to reading more of her stories. The Cowboy’s Amish Haven is a unique Amish tale with bucking broncos, filched funds, wild weather, a precious puppy, rough realities, a sweet son, and a rare romance.

Pamela Desmond Wright is a new to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the relationship between the main characters entertaining, delightful and different than what I am used to reading. When I say different, I mean I am not used to an Amish lady and a rodeo cowboy with a young son being linked together; which to me is a good thing because that means the authors imagination and writing is her own. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one she writes.

The Cowboy’s Amish Haven was a sweet second chance at love story. I really liked Gail and Levi right from the start. They knew each other as teens and Levi was a few years older than Gail, who had harbored a big crush on him during that time. This reunion could give Levi the opportunity to see Gail as a woman instead of a gangly teen following him around and it could give Gail the possibility of finding love with the only boy she had ever cared for. Yet, they faced a huge obstacle. Levi was no longer Amish!

I enjoyed watching as Levi got to know the family of sisters again and began working with Gail to help her save her ranch. These two worked well together and were simply likable people. Levi’s son, Seth, was a great addition to the story, as well.

I look forward to reading more books set in this Amish community in the fictional town of Burr Oak, Texas.

My first book by author Pamela Desmond Wright, it won’t be my last. Wright did a really good job of placing her readers in the Texas Amish Community of Burr Oak, and showing us how this community is different from others. I find it interesting to learn about the various states that unexpectedly have Amish Communities, some being much more modern than others.

Well developed characters Gail and Levi will have you cheering them on to succeed, both on the ranch and in love. Wright’s descriptions of a cattle ranch help you to really see what is happening; very well done.

Strong faith brings about healing in this story. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this easy to read Amish clean romance story. Great characters and interesting plot with a nice flow that kept my interest from beginning to end.

After losing both their parents, Gail becomes responsible for the family ranch and sisters. It doesn’t take things long to fall apart, but when an old friend shows up at their doorstep they know he’s a Godsend.

Levi and his young son Seth travel the road going from rodeo to rodeo but find themselves stopping for a period of time to help Gail and her family ranch.

Gail and Levi’s friendship blossom throughout the story which was sweet to read. I also liked seeing Seth and his love for animals, helping and wanting to settle down in one place as a young boy. We also get to read about the day to day struggles and the work involved with working with cattle and ranching.

I really enjoyed this Amish clean fiction story!

The Cowboy's Amish Hven by Pamela Desmond Wright as a surprise from a good a good friend. This is a new to me author and I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the cover. Having grown up going to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Amish country, I was excited to visit Burr Oak, Texas. This book didn't disappoint on any level. It pulled at my heart strings from the very beginning. Especially, young Seth. I love books with children in them. Gail and Levi had both walked a hard road before getting the happiness they both deserve. This is the first book I have read by this author. It definitely won't be the last.

Levi was orphaned at a very young age, he was taken in by an Amish family who tried to teach him how to work on a cattle ranch. He left them a decade ago to join the rodeo. Then he married and has a 5 year old son named Seth to take care of. Levi has a little time off from the rodeo so he is near the ranch he grew up at. He has his RV and wants to park it at their house for a little while.

When he gets there he finds that the Mother and Father have passed away and it's just the girls there. What happens next is a story of determination and people working together to make things happen. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for more books by the Pamela Desmon Wright to come out.

If you want a truly delightful book to read then this one is for you.

Thank you in advance to the author, Pamela Desmond Wright, for providing a complimentary copy of the book. A positive review was definitely not required or requested in any way; all words are my own.

Most people who’ve read my reviews know by now, I like entering contests and winning books. I also do enjoy reading Amish romance, even Amish romantic suspense – especially the Love Inspired lines.

It should come as NO surprise that when the author announced a contest to win an advanced copy that I jumped at it – and, yes, I won. And, as I stated above, there was no requirement for a positive review.

Let’s start off with that cover. A lot of authors have asked if we readers prefer the characters on the front or the landscape. Honestly? I’m not picky. As long as it looks good, I’m good with it. This one definitely has a lot going for it. Shows both the cowboy and Amish lady gazing, almost as if they’re pondering their lives at this point and the future they either want or can’t have.

But, what really grabbed my attention was what seemed like the dark clouds over the barn. Being from Texas (the lakes and prairies area; Tarrant/Dallas Counties), those dark clouds (to me) represent a bad storm coming. Is the cover foretelling something or is it merely a metaphor?

If you’ve lived in certain areas of Texas, sometimes referred to as tornado alley (even in this book), those clouds are not something to just brush off. In 1979, my family and I went through a lower scale tornado while living in a mobile home. The damage and devastation is unimaginable, which is depicted in this book. The sound? Exactly as the author writes – the sound of a freight train. You don’t forget that. The description of the day going from hot, windy, cloudy, and stormy isn’t far off. That has even happened where I currently live with the monsoon season.

Anyway …

The author’s writing moves the pace along quite well without rushing. It certainly doesn’t “plod” along either. I found myself moving right through this story and these books are a 1-2 day read; usually what I call a “day read” (especially if I am not busy that day). This was definitely a day read. I was hooked right after a “mystery” came up. I really didn’t want to put this book down for any length of time.

The plot is very realistic in dealing with death, debt, and even a mystery about stolen assets. There is a blend of Englisch and Amish life – and the author is very detailed about the differences. There are some heart-breaking moments as well. Warning –> there will be mentions of alcohol abuse, DUI, and DUI with death.

Just as realistic as the author creates the plot and that scene about the tornado, her characters are very realistic as well.

Levi is a single parent of 5-year-old set in addition to being on the rodeo circuit. He left the Amish order to live the Englisch life. But, he still feels a draw back to his roots. He also happens to have been the childhood crush of Gail Schroder whose father took Levi in.

There are Gail’s younger sisters – Rebecca, Amity, and Florene. Florene is the more troublesome one for Gail. Florene enjoys using her smartphone for texting her friends and is planning to leave her Amish roots behind when she becomes of age. I definitely want to know her story.

Just after Levi shows up, a banker by the name of Wilkins shows up – turns out the Schroder farm is in debt and none of the bills, even the mortgage hasn’t been paid. It is then that Gail discovers the man her father hired (Slagel) has stolen the money from their cattle sale after her father’s death. Their mother also passed as well. And, Gail is under the impression that Levi is a widower.

Levi decides to stick around and help Gail out, after all, her father had helped him out. The first step is for Gail to file a police report against Slagel. The Sheriff (Evan) understands Gail’s position. She sees it as avenging and only wants the money back. However, Englisch law doesn’t work like that -no complaint, no arrest, no legal way to force Slagel to repay the money. Since Evan had grown up in the Amish order, he is able to help Gail through the difficulty. Slagel didn’t commit just a petty theft – it is a major felony. Eventually, Gail signs the complaint.

That part of the storyline almost goes to the end of the book before coming to a conclusion.

After the complaint, Gail learns there are other debts that have gone unpaid. Levi steps up and tells Gail she can repay him when her money is recovered. She then has the hard task of informing her sisters.

Levi has a plan to sell off more cattle to get the ranch caught up. And, as he makes plans, he ponders the what-ifs.

The author delves right into the uncomfortable parts of ranching, particularly the branding of cattle and the realities of the job. In addition, she also points out the realities of baptism in the Amish order and the penalties for leaving.

Levi finds out that those in the community and church didn’t forget him and he is slowly connecting back to the community. Another connection is Florene and her phone. At one point, Gail sees Florene and her friends on their phones and wonder why they don’t talk to each other. Something that is all too common in the Englisch world as well. Yet, there are some good technologies the Amish employ for power – solar energy and other renewables for conveniences. I could almost live that life – but I do need my laptop, internet, and electricity for lighting (as well as cooking, my fridge, and laundry).

Soon Levi is asked to take up bible study, but the invite is immediately revoked when an awful truth is revealed – Levi isn’t a widower. And, it seems his reason for why he did what he did might prevent him from settling down in Burr Oak.

He still stays to help Gail save her ranch, and Gail sees the realities of the rodeo when a competitor is injured, cutting short his career.

But, a storm threatens the plans Levi has to help Gail and he has to rely on a new idea to help her save her ranch. He also has to tell Gail the truth about Seth’s mom and his marriage.

Wright keeps the reader’s attention until the very end with the conclusion. Some of which is predictable, but still an enjoyable read.

I will say there was a trigger moment in reading this when Tarrant County (Ft. Worth) is under a tornado watch, much different than a warning (which wouldn’t probably been more accurate). Having gone through a tornado in nearby Dallas County in 1979, it was a bit too close to home so to speak. The author is spot on with tornados and Texas going hand-in-hand though.

This wasn’t all serious, there were some funny moments to balance those out – one was on page 140 when the cows were referred to as stubborn critters; and one near the end about Texas women getting their man.

Being not only distributed by Love Inspired, but an Amish romance; expect references to God, prayers, and biblical quotes. These are slightly tied in with the plot.

This is written with typical Amish language, usually Pennsylvania Dutch. As of note, the “French” side of my family settled in Pennsylvania Dutch country shortly after migrating to the United States hundreds of years ago. And, I also have a German side of my family as well.

According to the back of the book “dear reader” section, this sounds like it might be the first book in an un-named series. I would be very interested to read future books in the series, along with other books by the author.

Readers who enjoy Vanetta Chapman and/or Tracey J. Lyons, are sure to enjoy this book!

A unique Amish romance in an unexpected setting . . .

This inspirational Amish romance is set in the small Amish community of Burr Oak, Texas. The Schroeder family ranch is being run by the eldest daughter, Gail Schroeder, after the death of her father a few months earlier.

While trying to deal with her grief and take on the responsibility for just about everything having to do with the ranch's operations along with being the head of the family for her three younger sisters, Gail receives surprising and dire news about the financial status of the ranch.

Cowboy Levi Wyse is in a not-so-good place in his life. He and his young son, Seth, are traveling the rodeo circuit in a trailer while Levi tries to strike it big on the pro tour around the United States. They're exhausted and in need of some order and normalcy in their lives.

Levi appears at the Schroeder's Ranch unexpectedly after ten years of being on the road. The fact that he left the Schroeder family home without saying goodbye has rankled Gail since she was fourteen. Levi is no longer the lonely Amish orphan looking for adventure as a rodeo cowboy—or is he? He has responsibilities, but he seems to be uncertain about what path to take which will lead to a more secure future for himself and his son.

The author's descriptive writing about cooking and ranch operations was interesting and added flavor to the story. The feelings that develop between the two lead characters are realistic and tender. I liked how the Schroeder family and community worked together to overcome challenges and tragedies.

This book is completely clean in language and content. Recommended for fans of Amish romance, Western romance, and Christian/clean romance.

I received a paperback copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts expressed here are solely my own.

Amish romance is among my favorite genres to read…and write! When I get the chance to review one, I jump at it, especially when it is from a new-to-me author like this one. The Cowboy’s Amish Haven did not disappoint! In fact, I especially enjoyed it because, while it stayed true to the genre conventions I love, it also had some fresh and original elements. In this story, Amish-raised Levi Wyse returns to his hometown just in time to help Gail Schroder, the daughter of the man who gave Levi shelter as a teen. Gail’s family ranch is in danger of foreclosure.

What I really liked about this book was, rather than the hero swooping in and saving the day as happens in too many romances, in this book, Levi and Gail were partners in the work. While Gail was a traditional Amish woman in many ways, she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself and learn how to do the work that needed to be done. She was independent, smart, and strong- and Levi provided just the right amount of support to help her grow into the woman God meant her to be.

I gave this book four out of five stars. It was a quick, compelling read that I recommend to open-minded fans of Amish romance! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

The cowboy’s Amish Haven by Pamela Desmond Wright is a magical Christmas story about rekindling a love from years past. Levi returns to his town to discover that Gail had been in love with him 10 years ago when he left. Levi now oversees helping Gail keep her house.
Gail and Levi are lovely characters that portray love in a way that is easy for the reader to see. I look forward to reading other books by Pamela. The book deserves 4 stars as there was a plot twist that I did not see coming.

Levi Wyse and his young son Seth are traveling to another rodeo. Levi decides to make a pit stop at Schroder’s Ranch where he grew up after his parent’s died. He hasn’t been back in 10 years and he soon finds out a lot has changed. Mr and Mrs Schroder have recently died. A ranch hand has swindled all the Schroders out of their money. Gail Schroder has all grown up. Gail Schroder was the young little girl who used to follow Levi around when he was helping her dad on the ranch. She has become a beautiful woman determined to make the ranch a success and to provide for her 3 younger sisters. Levi is a welcomed sight. He has promised to help her with the cattle, so they can make the money owed to the bank. As Gail and Levi work to save the ranch, they soon realize they both of feelings for each other. Only problem is that Gail is baptized in the church and Levi left the Amish faith years ago to chase after his dream of being in the rodeo.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how they each had to trust God to know that He has a plan for them. Even when everything was going wrong, God still saw the big picture. It was wonderful watching Levi return to his faith. He had a rough road, but he finally found his way back to God. This was such a beautiful story. One that you won’t won’t to put it down. I loved learning about the Amish folks. I also didn’t realize Texas had Amish too. It was fun spending time in Burr Oak, Texas. I hope we get to visit again. Gail does have 3 sisters. =)

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Completely inaccurate interpretation of the Amish culture.
The words drag, and the writer sounds more like a country bumpkin trying to sound educated in a culture they clearly know nothing about.
Terrible plot with shallow characters.
Was so bad I couldn't make it through the first chapter.

I’m late getting this review posted, and my apologies to author Pamela Desmond Wright, but my own deadlines got in the way. I thoroughly enjoyed THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN...a couple of reasons, but foremost is probably the fact that fifty years ago I married a cowboy, so the breed is close to my heart, but the other is that it’s simply a really good book. Wright has created two characters I immediately liked and I wanted to know their story. I’m a critical reader, but at the same time, as an author, I know how difficult it can be to tell a good story that will grab the reader’s interest. Wright managed that in such a seemingly effortless way that I realized I was smiling when I got to the end. It was just the kind of story I needed with so much negativity in the world, and I want to thank the author for giving me a gentle break from reality.

I definitely recommend this story, a Love Inspired Inspirational Romance from Harlequin. I have good feelings about Harlequin—if my teacher’s aide back in the mid 1970s had not loaned me a handful of early Harlequin Romances, I might have never realized how much I wanted to write romances. Nor would I have learned to appreciate the simplicity of a spiritual romance. To Ms. Wright, I say thank you. This story gave me a lot of pleasure and removed a whole lot of stress. Doesn’t get much better than that!

The Cowboy's Amish Haven by Pamela Desmond Wright
Her home and her heart are on the line…
On the same day Gail Schroder’s faced with losing her Amish family ranch, her old crush Levi Wyse shows up on her doorstep. He doesn’t know that when he left ten years ago he'd taken Gail’s heart with him. Now Levi’s her only hope of keeping a roof over her head. But can this cowboy teach Gail the ropes in time to save her home?
This is Gail Schroder and Levi Wyse and his son Seth's story.
Gail Schroder sprinkled flour over the cutting board and flattened out a ball of sourdough. Every morning she baked fresh biscuits, a task in which she took great pride. True, the recipe was a common one, but she’d made it her own with a few special ingredients.
As was her custom, she had risen before the sun. Dressing quietly, she eased down the stairs, preparing to wrangle the ancient monstrosity dominating the kitchen. Feeding a fair amount of wood and kindling into its belly brought the old cast-iron beast to life.
Breakfast was her first task. Fire stoked, she started an old-fashioned coffee percolator. The scent of burning oak and a dark roast brew filled the air with a delicious aroma.
Rubbing tired eyes, Levi Wyse breathed a sigh of relief. Days of hard travel were finally nearing their end. Mile after mile disappeared beneath the tires of his truck.
Goodbye, Montana. Hello, Texas.
Gaze focused on the road, he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. To stay awake for the last leg of the journey, he’d slammed down a few cups of coffee. Buzzed on caffeine and adrenaline, he felt tiny ignitions spark off his nerve endings. If only his blood didn’t feel so hot and his skin cold as ice.
I recommend reading.
The Cowboy's Amish Haven by Pamela Desmond Wright is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Pamela Desmond Wright.

This was a compelling story with a theme of second chances. Levi Wyse left the Amish community ten years ago to pursue a career in the rodeo. But unexpected circumstances led Levi, a widower with a young son, back to his former home—the ranch owned by the Schroder family. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for the Schroder sisters. Their family ranch is in desperate financial trouble as their ranch manager had stolen a large amount of money and left them in danger of losing their home and cattle herd. As Levi seeks to honor the family had given him support in the past, he decides to temporarily drop off the rodeo circuit to help save the ranch. Gail, the oldest sister, has always had feelings for Levi, even through the years he had been away from their community. As Levi becomes reacquainted with his Amish background, he realizes he needs to make some changes for both he and his son. However, a secret from his past may make returning home to stay an impossibility.

I enjoyed reading Gail and Levi’s story. I liked the way that Gail held on to her faith in tough times, and how she tried to make the best decisions she could for her family. I found the differences in this Amish community interesting as compared to some others across the country. I wished that there could have been another chapter to this book to have answered some questions about the other Schroder sisters, but hopefully these will be answered in another book.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This was a unique Amish story set on the Schroder ranch in Burr Oak, Texas.
Gail Schroder is overwhelmed taking care of her family farm after her parents death. When the ranch manager steals money Gail finds herself in a dire financial situation.
Levi Wyse and his son Seth return to the ranch where he spent his teen years helping on the ranch. He offers to help Gail and they rediscover their true feelings for each other.
Both Gail and Levi learn valuable lessons. Gail learns to trust God in the hard times and Levi learns that he can trust God and overcome his past and the questionable decisions he made.
Little Seth was cute. Gail’s sisters Rebecca, Amity and Florence were secondary characters who added to the story.
The author said this was an Old Order Amish community. Some Amish fiction readers might wonder about three specific events in the story as I wondered myself. 1. Gail stated they don’t get many visitors to the ranch. If not a church Sunday then the Amish have visiting Sunday every other Sunday. 2. Levi sat next to Gail and her sisters at church. Amish men and women sit in different sides in church and 3. There was a benefit auction open to the public to help an Amish widow after church. The Amish remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, so Saturday would have been more believable.
If you enjoy Amish fiction you might want to give this book a try.

The Cowboy’s Amish Haven is written by Pamela Desmond Wright. This is part of the Love Inspired series. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be my last. This is a story of second chances. This is also a story of forgiveness.

Our main character is Gail. She is left in charge of the family ranch when her parents pass. However, her ex ranch manager has stolen a chunk of change from her. She had not realized this - and now the bank has come to foreclose on the ranch. Normally, the Amish do not like to go through law enforcement, but Gail quickly realizes she may not have a choice.

Enter our other main character, Levi. Gail’s old crush. He shows up on her doorstep with his young son, Seth. Levi had been on the rodeo circuit. Can Gail trust Levi to help her save her ranch?

I loved the chemistry and building of a foundation between these two. I love how much detail that the author put into building them. I also learned a lot about running a ranch and the rodeo circuit. I love books where the author has clearly down her research.

I received a copy of this book through the JustRead Publicity Tours and the author. All thoughts are my own.

The Cowboy’s Amish Haven, by Pamela Desmond Wright, is such a heartwarming and faith-filled story.
Gail Schroder, the eldest of several sisters, is trying to manage her family’s home and ranch after her parents had passed away. Unfortunately, a man hired by her father before his passing turned out to be a swindler and a thief. Now the Schroder sisters face the bank taking their land away unless they come up with the money…fast.
But that same day, Levi Wyse, the orphaned boy taken in by Mr. & Mrs. Schroder years before, shows up on her doorstep. He left the ranch a decade earlier to follow his heart to rodeo life, never realizing he took Gail’s heart with him. Levi “turned English” and made some choices that resulted in having a sweet son, Seth. He’d do anything to try and make Seth’s life a little more stable, including offering to help Gail and her sisters try to save their ranch in exchange for letting he and Seth park their trailer on the property and stay a spell.
You’ll love reading this sweet tale of reconnection, hope, faith, and trust. You’ll be endeared by Gail, Levi, and Seth, but also by the other Schroder sisters. I so hope each one will get their own tale.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, however my opinion is entirely my own.

I was looking for a sweet and uplifting read to put me in a better mood after a disastrous day and I picked up this little gem. Unbeknownst to me, the family featured in the story was one I had already met in a previous read (Her Amish Refuge) and was exactly what I needed to brighten my day.

THE COWBOY’S AMISH HAVEN features Levi, a young man raised in the Amish community, turned rodeo cowboy, and his young son, Seth. He is struggling with his place and his role as single father. Fate, God or both, placed him back on the ranch he grew up in and with the family that helped raise him after tragedy took his parents. There he comes face to face with a figure from his past, Gail. They share a bond that neither truly can explain but one that is nonetheless strong and enduring.

Proving that love and faith work in mysterious ways, through ups and downs, the couple come together and get their happily ever after and it was truly special. I’m giving this book the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval and look forward to reading the other books in this series. TBR and Enjoy!

This was a sweet story that adhered to the thought of second chances.
I genuinely enjoyed this look into my home state of TEXAS and their Amish population. It is not something you think about Texas having, but there are Amish people here. Pamela Desmond Wright is a new to me author and I enjoyed her writing style. It was detailed in all the right ways without going overboard.
Gail and Levi were an interesting match. I do not often find Amish books where the ‘English’ and Amish are so intertwined with one another. It was cool. I enjoyed the background that Pamela Desmon Write gave Levi and how she walked us through both characters choices. It was very well developed, and I was very please with how everything unfolded.
Definitely an author I will read from again.
4 stars.

This was my first book to read of Pamela Desmond Wright's, but I will certainly be reading more of them. It was so delightful, with heart warming characters, who won me over at the very beginning. When newly widowed Levi returns to his Amish community of Burr Oak, Texas for a few days, he winds up at the long-horn cattle ranch of his prior friends, the Schroders. While trying to help save the ranch from financial ruin for Gail and her sisters after the death of their father, he rediscovers his roots and a stable life for his five year old son Seth. Will Levi be content to stay here and settle into the Amish life again or return to the rodeo circuit? Can Gail and him possibly have a life together? If you enjoy Amish fiction with a different twist, you will be delighted with this book. I was provided a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

I was pleased to be a beta reader and to review an advanced readers copy and this book is exactly why we love Christian romance stories--well written, faith-based, sweet, and clean with a genuine and compelling story. Two people who might well have missed each other get a second chance and take the risks. The family ranch is at stake because of an unscrupulous man's wrongful dealings, so it isn't just romance that's the focus. What will Gail, the main character, and her sisters do if they lose their family ranch that's been their home all of their lives?

The setting is exceptionally well done, and the risk to Gail and her family of losing the ranch raises the tensions. Levi is well drawn as a cowboy down on his luck who seeks the refuge of a home he once left physically but never left in his heart. Well done, and a rewarding read.

It got this book as a gift with no expectations of a review or recommendation but after reading it I have to say I loved it. The Amish people hold a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons. This book starts out with trouble at the Schroder's family ranch after the death of the dad leaving sisters trying to hold the ranch together after a dishonest foreman stealing mortgaga money and the bank wanting to foreclose. On top of that an old acquaintance with a son shows up and decides to help. They endure a lot and even have bad weather (living here in Alabama I can relate to tornadoes) the rodeo even comes into play. This a great read. Entertaining and moving with the Old Amish ways coming in contact with some modern gadgets. Pamela Desmond Wright is a great author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

This was my first Pamela Desmond Wright book and I should very much like to thank her for my ARC copy which I devoured in one sitting. Rarely do I pick up a book and miss some of my favorite television shows, ignore the phone and tell husband ssshh sssshh I am reading. This was most definitely one of those books. I was hooked by the end of the first page. Pamela's writing is beautiful and she describes the Amish Community of Burr Oak Texas accurately. Amish communities differ from community to community depending on their Bishop and I believe this was pointed out in the book and has been told to me on several trips to Amish Pennsylvania and Ohio. I loved all the members of the Schroeder family and Levi and Seth. What a delight the Bishop was and not only a good man of religion but a good friend. Seth stole my heart. He had me in happy tears and heartbreaking tears and was a delightful little boy. This book is for lovers of Amish fiction who enjoy a love story and one that is a little different from others. I loved my time in Burr Oak and Pamela, I hope y'all will take us there again. Thank you so much for my copy of the book. I will treasure it to read again in the future.

Levi left without saying a word, and he took Gail's heart with him when they were both really just kids. Now he's back, and he's got a kid of his own.
Gail's got a whole lot of responsibility running her family's Texas cattle spread since the death of her father; something that, as an Amish woman, she was not trained to do.

Besides, since she chose to be baptized in the Amish church and Levi embraced the English way of life, there doesn't seem to be any hope for a future for the two of them. As the old saying goes, a fish and a bird might fall in love, but where will they live?

Find out for yourself if this unlikely pair can discover their happy ending. I recommend this sweet romance. It's a satisfying read, with two smart protagonists. Nothing makes me toss aside a book faster than a stupid protagonist!
