Lisa Phillips is a USA Today and top ten Publishers Weekly bestselling author of over 80 books that span Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line, independently published series romantic suspense, and thriller novels. She’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa is a British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Lisa is a worship leader, tea aficionado, and dog lover of two crazy Airedales.
Onward and upward. Isn’t that what they say? This series just keeps getting better and better. So much more entertaining than a movie. The characters have become friends!
Touchingly funny, with the charm of aching hearts trying to heal. Hollis has lived her life feeling unloved and unworthy so she worked hard to earn love from people who should have been loving and protecting her all along. Now, work her life in to the suspenseful, action-packed, deadly hunt by the Last Chance PD and FBI of a crazed, desperate, evil head of a crime organization and you have a book you don't want to put down! Lisa Phillips has won me over with the town, the people and the stories of criminals intent on causing destruction in the lives of people in this town and of the Last Chance PD and others dedicated to the fight to bring justice to their town.
Must read in order. This was part of a multi-book collection so I had no choice in the order of this series. Felt like I arrived to a conversation that had been going on and was asked my opinion. Didn't know what was going on. Also, Will seems to jump to conclusions without real evidence and tries to find evidence to support his beliefs. Not a very likable character or trustworthy law enforcement person.
The plot seemed too disjointed, if I'd had the advantage of the first five books, it might have made more sense. Silly plot at some points, with some ridiculous mixed messages between the two main characters.
Book #6 in the last chance series. This book finds undercover FBI agent Will continuing to search for West. He had gotten close to Hollis, who runs the local diner. But Hollis is on her way out of town. Until she gets a call saying her stepfather has been kidnapped. Will and Hollis must come together to figure out all the twists and turns the book has to offer. It was fast paced and full of action.
Fast paced action as we learn more about Hollis's story. Book 6 in the series, you can read as a stand alone as Phillips writes well enough you don't feel like you're missing the inside story. But, I recommend reading the series to get the full effect. This felt a little overdone on the details, but this story answered a lot of questions, too. No matter if the story line continues through the series, Phillips does a good job of wrapping up each story.
Hollis & Will have quite the time figuring out this suspenseful mystery I enjoyed very much. Lisa Phillips is an excellent author. I enjoy her writing a lot. I read this book in the Dangerous Deceptions Box Set.
Hollis leaving Last Chance, until a call her step father had been kidnapped. He was her support over the years. Agent Will was working with the FBI was Hollis really as honest as she says or what else was going on with the diner, a town with drugs smuggled in.
This series is so good!! I can’t wait to read the next one…good twists in this story, and the usual amount of violence…but love the threads of God throughout the story. The characters are very relatable (though appear almost super-human with the amount of abuse they receive!).
The hunt is still on for West. Will has been undercover for awhile. Hollis finally decides to leave Last Chance, but gets pulled back just as she heads out of town. Hollis and Will must work together.
I was waiting for "Hammer's", FBI agent Will Briar's story. Another fast paced, action packed adventure in Last Chance County. Will and Hollis fight to stay alive and uncover who West truly is.
