It's ok. Has a few nice plates in it, but quite small, and all but "Thanaton: Messenger of the Cosmic Task" are included in "Essential Paul Laffoley". The essays aren't particularly helpful. Much better is Laffoley's "Phenomenology of Revelation", which actually aids interpretation, and "Essential Paul Laffoley", which has more color plates.

My dad made his living as a draftsman, designer, and fabricator of sheet metal. In addition he was, and remains, a devout Christian for whom the Bible is literal truth. For decades, he has combined these two interests in sketch after sketch in which he attempts to capture the exact proportions and dimensions of such esoteric structures the as Ark of Noah or the New Jerusalem.

Laffoley's work reminds me of Dad's sketches, in its draftsman-like precision and attempt to make manifest a glimpse into a sacred reality. Whereas my dad's isometric drawings are always rooted in a Protestant reading of the Bible, Lafolley draws inspiration from a much wider, richer variety of sources. Influences to whom Laffoley explicitly pays homage include Hesse, Poe, Verne, Wells, Heraclitus, Empedocles, Paracelsus, Dante (Laffoley's triptych depicting the whole Divine Comedy is mind-bogglingly complex!), Goethe, Eliade, Heidegger, Gurdjieff, Joachim of Fiore, Hegel, Ouspensky, Heinlein, Lovecraft, Ivan T. Sanderson, Alfred Jarry, Edwin A. Abbott, Pythagoras, Jacob Boehme, R. Buckminster Fuller, Teilhard de Chardin, Nietzsche, Rudolf Steiner, and Coco Chanel. His work makes you smarter by just looking at it.
