A delightfully expressed manual answering quite a number of questions about Space, Earth, the Solar System (including asteroids colliding with Earth) and providing a capsulized history of humanity's approach to Space, this nonfiction book is focused toward children in the range of upper elementary through middle school. But it's a good refresher for adult readers too.
Thank you to Arcturus Publishing for offering me this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I requested this e-ARC because my 10-year-old daughter absolutely loves to learn random facts about anything and everything. Bonus points if it's about space!
We've read many books of facts over the years and this one definitely holds its own. We learned the location of the largest volcano in the solar system. We found out why, as the title suggests, astronauts do not burp. A lot of the facts we saw were new to us, we hadn't seen them in other books before.
This is a great book for kids to read by themselves or to read to them. Every question and answer is in a short blurb. It's easy for them to understand. There are also super cute illustrations. I highly recommend this for any child who is interested in space.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I just LOVE books about Space and so I just had to send a request for this one. Oh, and the cover and title just sparked an interest. I mean, why don’t astronauts burp? Tell me!
This book is a 129 page book with tons and tons of questions with answers. From “Is there music in space? to “Can you eat salt in space?” to “Are there space spiders?” (which had me worried for a sec until I read the answer and then I was just happy, phew). I really loved all the questions and reading all the answers and that they fitted in a theme. Sadly, I am guessing that the paperback shows that theme a bit more clearer. Haha, in my ebook it was just one big page with question after question. So, I am guessing and really hoping as well, that the paperback is a bit clearer on things. Otherwise, have fun. XD
Next to that the questions are themed together, the book also features 5 different big themes. Goodbye, Earth, Our Wonky World, Lunar Lunacy, Peculiar Planets, and The Outer Limits. I really loved that we got 5 different themes and I was looking forward to the questions specifically for each theme.
I learned quite a few new things while reading this delightful book. The writing-style is fun and makes you want to keep reading. Plus, the questions were at times very fun and expanded beyond what you often see asked in books about space. This is very important, because it is just question after question with little else way to get information, it needs to stay interesting and fun.
The art! The thing that drew me in to this book. It was just so fun and playful. I love the style and how it fits with the book!
All in all, recommended to all space-lovers out there!
Thank you to the authors, Arcturus Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Interesting facts, and funny and cute illustrations to learn more about the universe, in this book, beautifully illustrated with texts so easy to understand for children, it's the perfect choice for them to understand the cosmos. It's also a great choice for anyone else that loves to read about it. Through the pages, ‘Why Don't Astronauts Burp?: Questions and Answers about Space’ talks about stars, planets, asteroids, comets, black holes and supernovas, nebulae, rocks and dust, galaxies and superclusters of stars/galaxies/universes, meteorites, Earth, and cosmos's birth and fate, between many more topics, in a way very fresh and light. This book is, mostly, for children. The topics are explained in a simple and easy way for them to understand. Maybe it could make them more curious about the cosmos, and they'd want to learn more about it! It mixes humor with facts well and shortly explained. Who was the first human in space? Has any alien landed on Earth? Did you know that... there are many things out there in space from Earth? You might want to know more. What kind of stuff has been sent to space? When is going to die our sun? How is the cosmos going to end? Personally, I loved this book! I am always trying to learn more about where we come from, and this book, although it didn't tell me things I wouldn't know already, at the same time, it gave me so many interesting facts and details about our universe. And funny facts I didn't know! I highly recommend you to buy and to read this book. Tomorrow I'll upload this review on the rest of my social media!
As an adult I really enjoyed this book and I always wanted to read this kind of book when I was younger too – if you gave me a nonfiction and a fiction I would always go for the first option and I have a soon to be four year old that is following in mummy's footsteps!
This is the fourth book I have read in the Big Ideas series and I think that they are great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them - I am so glad I found this series!!
I loved the punchy style of the different facts and trivia that you learn as the book progressed, plenty to give you a giggle about, some food for though but best of all, it is fun to read - and even though my daughter is a little out of the age range she loved being told some of the trivia too - this is definitely a book she will go too when she is older!
I can see this being a massive hit with children too - it is 5 stars from me for this one, I loved it and can easily see it being a firm favourite!
All sorts of facts are relayed and categorised into five sections: things/people who have left earth, Earth, moons, planets, and the outer limits. Some things I vaguely knew, some things I didn't and others I'd never even stopped to consider. Fascinating projections.
Anne Rooney and William Potter have a new selection in the Big Ideas series making learning fun for children. This book is full of fun facts about space and great illustrations. This book was so enjoyable I sent several friends to purchase it for their space minded children.
