Patty and the others have been searching high and low for the Demon Lords’ treasures, so when they come across a fancy seaside resort they decide to take a break and relax. But the resort is run by the Familiar Admin Union, and the organization has a serious grudge against Patty. If she doesn’t find a way to escape, she might not survive this vacation!
A tourist trap sucks in Patty & Co. with the promise of a free vacation, free food, all expenses paid beach stay, but ends up being something much more sinister(-lite) for Familiar owners. Patty gets whisked away for re-education, Norman finds demons, and Lasanil indulges in her love of cute furry things, and yet somehow everything still manages to be okay at the end.
Even though this follows the same formula of Norman haring off after unique demons to study them, Patty chasing after him and eating food and stumbling on plot points, and Lasanil trying to keep them all safe, I feel like each new predicament is unique enough to feel fresh. Living in a tourist-y city myself, this volume felt especially humorous, when you compare it to how predatory actual tourist traps are. Maybe not quite as bad as Familiar owner re-education camps, but still kinda awful in their own right.
I've really liked all of these book so far and this one was no exception. Norman gets into trouble with investigating familiars, Patty finds a way to move the story along with food, and Ladanil has to keep everyone together. I love how whenever there is a problem, Norman is always clear headed and helps resolve it, he lets his guard down a little this time and Patty suffers for it though. This one finishes up the arch in book 7 with the demon kings treasure. It also does two little side arcs like it normally does. They are both funny but try and make a point as well. All in all a very enjoyable read.
I’m going to say it, this just keeps getting better and better. And also like funnier. It’s good I really enjoyed this volume. Can’t wait for the next one, literally so excited. I will always say this but I love love love, Norman and Patty’s relationship, it’s so wholesome. Besides that are we going to get a Norman backstory in the next couple or volumes or chapters!? Like if we do I am here for it.

More of a 3.5 star rating; Lasanil didn’t end up with a romantic partner but I like that there’s at least potential there. I thought it was extremely unfair for Patty to be treated that way at the resort. I understand that it’s partially because of her father’s reputation, but the poor girl needs to get a break. The chapter involving everyone’s dreams was very interesting to see and I’m curious to see what other adventures come for Patty and Norman in the next volume.
