Santaclaws #2

A Hatchling for Springtide

Rate this book
Little paws must not grow large.

True to Keir's fears, the enemy is not slow to respond to a Dragon hatchling's birth. Certanshi assassins close in on his family, but they are not the only ones who want the Elves of Amarinthe and his scaly diamond miracle dead and buried in the snows.

The ill-prepared Elves must flee through snow and winter storm to the safety of the Arabaxa Jungles. Keir leads the way through the heart of the mountains, beneath the Dragon Kings peaks, into the lair of Santaclaws himself – but many dangers lie in wait. Ancient powers hunger for Dragon magic. Hunters scour the peaks, bringing storm and destruction.

Meantime, managing a growing hatchling brings many new challenges. Eating his father's boots is one matter. Demanding that he lose himself, his very being, in their magical bond is quite another.

If he would become a Dragon Guardian, Keir must face his greatest test yet.

Marc is a South African-born dragon masquerading as an author, who loves writing about dragons and Africa, preferably both at the same time. He's the author of over 40 fantasy books in 5 languages including 10 rip-roaring dragon fantasy bestsellers.

His latest releases are Khyrial and the King, an absorbing Fantasy Romance and the hilarious epic fantasy Call me Dragon which won gold in the 2021 IPPY Book Awards for best Fantasy novel.

When he's not writing about Africa or dragons Marc can be found travelling to remote locations. He thinks there's nothing better than standing on a mountaintop wondering what lies over the next horizon.

Just gets better.

And I thought the first book was good. The story starts to really unfold now, with neighbours turning on Kier and his family as racism rears it's very ugly head and good deeds quickly forgotten. Now to lead the Elves back to their homeland with enemies all around. All this with a rambunctious adorable dragonet. Written superbly, as all books by Marc are. The Elven language is brilliant and the humour brilliant.
Unfortunately I now have to wait for the next one. Any chance of an earlier release date? Can't blame me for trying!

Excellent fantasy adventure!

AHfS beautiful world descriptions and marvelous characters! The storyline is never slow and the adventure is fraught with peril with a touch of humor. I absolutely love it and plan to get the next book in this series as soon as this review is complete. Wordsmith Marc Secchia has built an amazing universe in Santaclaws and I sincerely hope there will be many more episodes added to it.

The second book in an epic fantasy by one of the Masters of the genre.

Keir is half-Human, half-Elf. Auroral Storm Diamond is the only Dragon to be hatched in the realm of Tyanbran in over eighty years. Together they will make History.

I loved book 2

It just keeps getting better! The bond between them and desire not to be apart. Slowly learning about each other. The adventure and hoard found. Beautiful. Now to go on to book 3!
