Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Winter Travers is a devoted wife, mother, and aunt turned author who was born and raised in Wisconsin. After a brief stint in South Carolina following her heart to chase the man who is now her hubby, they retreated back up North to the changing seasons, and to the place they now call home. Winter spends her days writing happily ever afters, and her nights being a karate mom hauling her son to practices and tournaments. She also has an addiction to anything MC related, puppies, and baking.
Let's start off by saying we really love this author she has a way of always drawing us into her characters right from the few first chapters each and every time and this time is no different.
This was a slow burn kind of romance where the characters are drawn to one another but, need to navigate through some rocky waters first. We loved how Royal easily fit into Marco's life, and it helps that Marco is part of the MC world as well as the mafia world both come with a rather large family something Royal had been missing from her life.
We loved the characters, and we loved getting to see a lot of the old ladies and their men stake a claim in this current story. Catching up is always awesome!
Overall this was a sweet romance that we thoroughly enjoyed. We loved seeing a different side of Marco and even when he was being sweet his alpha and his dangerous aura were always present reminding us just what this man was truly capable of. Marco was the type of character that could make any woman swoon. Can you say yummy? Dangerous mafia man or not he was still a momma's boy deep down willing to do anything to please his mother which in our eyes made us loved the man even more.
I wanted so much to like this book more but I couldn't. I didn't like Royal, like at all. She was so annoying and a know it all. It pissed me off the fact that Marco was trying to help her and all and she was so ungrateful, like he didn't need to help, there was no obligation but he still did and she gave him sh*t for it, it wasn't fair. And the part when she suddenly likes him came out of nowhere, it felt so forced. I actually liked Marco, he was who he was and nobody was going to change that about him. I would have liked to see something more from her part, like, in my opinion, he did it all, he was the one who was always there and tried to make things happen, she didn't. I feel like he deserved better, she was a tool
With each book that I read in the series I fall in love with the characters. They just literally jump of the pages and come to life. In Royal Mess we get to meet Marco and Royal. Marco is so strong and bull headed at first but as time goes by we get to see why he is like that. Royal is strong to and she loves hard when she falls in love. This story had suspense like you would not believe and we got to see characters from the first series that I absolutely love.
You know what they say about love and hate…there’s fine line between them. Well, Marco and Royal sure followed that rule. Marco was the mafia boss and Royal was the sister of the man who was killed because of him. Now Marco only wants to keep Royal safe from the man who actually killed her brother and now is after her and her baby…yep, she’s nine months pregnant. You wouldn’t think that a powerful man as Marco would even consider taking on a beautiful woman and her unborn child but that is exactly what he did. Talk about love. Now only if he could get her to realize that she had a thing for him as well.
I loved the build up to their love and all of the undercurrents that ran throughout with the Devils Knights MC right in the midst of it. The women and their banter earned laugh out loud moments along with some of the men. All I can say is that if you haven’t read this author yet do yourself a favor and get started on it. She is one h*ll of a MC author!!
Loving getting to know the second generation! This installment picks up right where the last one left off, where we find that Marco’s actions caused a ripple effect that ended up having Royal lose her brother, and that on top of being pregnant doesn’t help her situation. When the same man announces he’s going after Royal, Marco jumps into action and focuses on not only keeping her safe, but alive. While Royal seems to work overtime to not be attracted to Marco, she ends up giving in the longer he persists, and while Marco understands her feelings because of her brother, he doesn’t necessarily give her the choice to not have him. Marco is the true alpha male with connections and the ability to make things happen, and Royal is such a strong character that handles the situation as well as her pregnancy. I am so eager to find out who the MC member is in the next book based on the cliffhanger we get from Marco’s chef! Loving Winter and her writing – I love that she can continue a series within another series and tie everything together while still keeping me on the edge of my seat with the plots! Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Marco and Royal’s story was masterfully written. Royal seems to hate Marco, but Marco isn’t about to let that stop him from trying to win her heart. And this ride wouldn’t be complete without Meg and the other women invading, comedic relief at Marco’s expense, and some serious drama before it’s all done. The funniest part is that this was a slow burn for Royal and I didn’t even realize I was over halfway through the book when she gave Marco a real chance. I was just along for the chaotic ride and didn’t notice that so many pages had flown by! So Marco and Royal get exactly what they each want and deserve, while Bristol leaves us with a bit of a mystery. I can’t wait to find out who she’d been “doing inventory” with.
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW** Ok, quick recap: Marco's mom is Faythe and she is married to the Devil's Knight Slider who is Marco's stepfather. Marco is a Mafia boss. In the previous book Royal was kidnapped and her brother was killed by a another mafia guy due to a bad judgment call Marco made and now he's gotta keep her safe.
It was a slow burn book if you are looking for a lot of heat. It technically is an enemies to lovers story. They really, I mean really fight their attraction. So much so they deny, deny, deny up until the end. Makes you constantly roll your eyes. It also makes the story drag because not a lot happens. You get to the seriou drama, the mountain peek of the story and it's like only a 2 foot drop and it's done; Now the Epilogue and story is finished. Just a 2 foot dramatic lead up and 2 foot drop. Before the lead up you have what seems like miles of drama free story full of small interactions by Marco and Royal that get interrupted then lots of denial.

MAFIA MAN AND ROYAL I loved this book! I was consumed from the first chapter. With every book you get to know and love each character alittle more. I remember Marco in the Devil's Knights series and he was still a young man heading in the wrong direction for his life but thank God for Slider and the Devil's Knights MC entire family helped shape him into the man he is today. And Leo had a really big part of it because he taught Marco all about the Mafia family and is now letting him get his feet wet. Royal is best friends with Indiana who is Frost's ole lady and used to date Royal's brother Grit. Book 2 ended with a shocking cliffhanger so this book started out like an earthquake and the aftershocks just kept on coming. At times I was laughing out loud. The women in the club and now the addition of Greer and Bristol when they all get together they're hilarious especially Meg and Cyn. When Royal has to be moved to live with Marco at his mansion for protection needless to say she's not happy, she blames him for the death of her brother but eventually realizes it wasn't entirely Marco's fault, after all the Meeks are the ones that killed him, Marco just provoked them. So the longer Marco and Royal are under the same roof their feelings for each other star to grow and Marco is completely head over heels for her and the baby even though it isn't actually his, he is willing to claim it. When trouble comes busting down the door it's so exciting Marco passes out. Lol. And there is another death for the Devil's Knights to figure out. The new addition to the family is exciting and the name, I thought was kind of touching. I can't wait to get to the next book. I highly recommend this series to everyone.
I do love Winter Travers' MC books mostly because of Meg and King. They've been around since book one, and even now, in the next generation, they keep adding to their hilarious story all these years later. I am enjoying her series about the next generation, and I have enjoyed Marco's story even more. It's a bit different but not at the same time. You will understand when you read it too.
The underlying mystery continues; more people are getting involved. Meg and her gang of ol' ladies continue their high jinx to keep their bada$$ biker men in line. Hero is still waiting for King to step-down, but he discovers that it may not be such a bad thing that he hasn't. I love these guys and their kids, and Marco is no exception. When we initially met Marco, he was a teenager, and now he's grown, he's a heckuva guy, and he is exactly what Royal needs.
I love the Devil's Knights Series and the Next Generation Series. Filled with steam, humor, adventure, and a nice bit of suspense, these books are so worth the time to read. The characters are off the charts, memorable, and downright hilarious. Royal Mess is continuing that tradition, and you need to venture in and get to know everyone.
Finally one of the Banachi’s if not Leo at least we get the next best one with Marco. Royal and Marco’s story was great, he was a little bit a an a** at first, but we see why as the story progresses. I love how Winter ties the characters from other books/series into another. It’s nice to get to see how they all interact. Of course it’s always great to read about Meg and you get a few little glimpses of her. Now just to warn you, Winter loves to leave us hanging with something big and as always she didn’t disappoint. So Winter so, so wrong of you, you are one evil women when you get to the last chapter...you just leave us hanging. But review reader know it’s worth it, you will love the story and you will love to be left hanging for the next couple, thankfully you aren’t left hanging for the HEA of the couple the books is intended to be about. So go one click or what ever you do to get your books and dive in to Royal Mess and enjoy everyone and get a little Meg sense of humor tied in. Thank you Winter Travers for writing such great stories for me and everyone to get lost in!!! They get better and better with each one. I highly recommend this one folks. Stop reading my long run on about how great the book is and just find out for yourself. Happy reading!!
I literally couldn’t put this book down. It has suspense, laughs, smiles, action and MC romance all rolled into one outstanding storyline. I must say Marco has definitely gotten himself into a “Royal Mess” in more ways than one. Marco is a mafia boss with familial ties to the Devil’s Knights MC. Through a deal gone wrong, Marco is indirectly the reason for Royal’s brother Grit getting murdered. Now he’s out to get revenge for Grit as well as keep Royal safe from Grit’s killer. But that’s easier said than done. Royal wants nothing to do with Marco, after all he did just get her brother killed, plus Grit’s killer has gone underground. See - Marco has a huge mess to fix. Throw in Meg and the other 1st and 2nd generation Ol’ Ladies and their “craziness”, a Hilarious cook, Bristol, who doesn’t do well under pressure but “loves to cook”, plus the another murders of a club girls by whomever is out to get the Devil’s Knights and this book will have you glued to the pages.
I Highly Recommend both the original and the 2nd generation Devil’s Knights Series. Ms.Travers tells an MC story that you won’t soon forget. If you haven’t started these series grav them up Now, you won’t be sorry you did.
Let me start by saying that I love 2nd generation books because it’s like coming home. It’s like a warm blanket fresh out of the dryer. And with this motley crew you never know what kind of crazy that will come up especially with the women.
Now with this book you see one of the Banachi’s, Marco and Royal. Now Royal has a hate for this man right off but would you really call it hate if it leads to something more. *hint hint* for reasons I won’t say because it will kind of give some things away but let’s say he has to find a way to get himself out of his mess he indirectly got them on all the while protecting Royal from the people that would see her 6ft under.
Will this mess he has to navigate through plus the chaos of the 1st generation and all the drama they bring Marco and Royal could be doomed before they even begin!
Like any any good Winter Travers book you will have hilarious moments, moments where the characters are just not doing what you want them to do and you want to throw your kindle because you are tired of them not listening (no just me). Plus you will cry and forget everything you need to just to finish it because you need to know what is going it. And of coarse she gives us a taste only to leave us wanting. When is the next book huh huh huh when?
'Royal Mess' is my favourite book so far in the Devil's Knights 2nd Generation as it crosses over into the mafia world of the Banachi family. If you have read other books in the series you will know who they are! Royal (yep that is a heroines name) has gotten herself into a right Royal Mess but Marco Banachi is going to help her out even though he is partly to blame! From the moment he meet 9 month pregnant Royal Marco know's that she is the one he wants and when the threat to her life is over he will be claiming what is his!
She had a light and air that called to my dark soul
Royal shouldn't be so attracted to Marco but she can't help herself — but when Marco shows his none Mafia side her walls start to crumble one brick at a time.
One of the things I loved about Royal Mess is that Winter Travers Brought all the ole ladies and their other halves together from the Devil's Knights all under one roof in Marco's beautiful home! The interaction and the fun these women have even though danger is around the corner was brilliant.
Ms Travers left us eager for me when she tangled the carrot of Bristol! Can't wait!
Royal Mess is book 3 from the Devil's Knights 2nd Generation series. The story focuses on Marco Banachi and Royal. This is an enemies to lovers, insta-love, MC/Mafia romance.
Marco is part of his uncle Leo's crew, and is working on one day taking over as head hancho of their crime family. Although Marco is not part of the MC they are still his family. I love the bond he shares with Slider too, it's really sweet. Marco demands respect. He's strong, fierce, and owns his mistakes. For the most part he's a stand up guy and will always fight and protect those he loves.
Royal is a hot mess. Single, pregnant, and facing some epic grief. She feels scared, alone, and somewhat abandoned. But even with all the odds against her, she still is full of sass and fire. She gives as good as she gets and she won't ever go down without a fight.
This is a short , fast paced story. Although it's short, you can expect action, humor and lots of love. And you already know to expect some crazy when it comes to the Devil's Knights ol' ladies. Lastly, with that ending, I just want to say my guess is Pie. 😉
Okay let me just say in this book the first half I really didn’t like Royal. I felt she was a bit unfair towards Marco. But I guess she was grieving and he was just the one to take her anger out on.
But as the book progressed I came around and sort of liked her weird quirky ways. Which meant she fit in perfectly with the rest of the Devils Knights ladies. This wasn’t also an instant love for this couple. I think they liked each other initially when he Marco saved her in the previous book, but in this book they spent more time together and also worked out their frustrations and other issues.
I loved that basically all of the older Knights were present in this book. It was exactly how you would remember them from the older books. They are still the most crazy, hilarious stubborn but protective as hell family. Dealing with Royal’s problems wasn’t that bad, as the bad guy literally came to their door. But then again we still have a serial killer on the loose and things are just heating up in this series people. And that ending, man I want to know who Bristol was getting it on with… 😊
Royal Mess is the third title in the second generation of Devils Knights and features Royal and Marco. Marco was first featured in his mother's story Unraveling Fayth.
Marco is an enigmatic hero who was raised around both the mafia and the Devils Knights. He's a strong, stubborn, persistent and protective, and as a leader in the Bianchi crime family he is used to getting his way.
Royal's life is in a shambles and Marco jumps in to protect her when her past comes knocking. There's a fine line between love and hate when it comes to Royal's feelings for Marco.
As with man of Winter Travers' previous works this title has equal parts intrigue, suspense, action and humor and you're sure to be captivated from start to finish.
I loved the banter, humor and fun antics that ensue any time Meg and the other old ladies are featured in the Devils Knights books.
I highly recommend reading the original Devils Knights series, and the previous books in this series prior to reading Royal Mess, as each book is connected and each title leads into the next with a snippet of information revealed.
This is the 3rd book in this phenomenal series and is Marco and Royal’s story. Marco is a mafia boss and Royal is the sister is the man who killed himself, Grit. Marco feels responsible and is determined to keep River and her unborn baby safe and protected from the man who actually did kill Grit. These two may have a love/hate scenario going on, and they are total opposites, but River challenges Marco at every turn, as well as bringing him to his knees. There are some amazing secondary characters in this story. Add in the crazy shenanigans and witty banter from the other ole’ women, as well as Bristol who loves to cook but does not handle pressure very well, and this story is just one which needs to be read! This is a well written flawless story which is humorous, entertaining, and with witty banter, drama, revenge, and love. I was completely hooked throughout this riveting and addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all MC lovers.
Royal Mess was another fantastic read by the awesome & original Winter Travers, so I was upset (like usual) when it ended too soon. Marco is a mafia boss who makes a mistake which ends with Royal's brother being killed. He decides that he's going to keep her safe from the man who is after her & the baby she's about to give birth to, so he basically forces her to come stay with him while they try to get rid of the danger to her. That aspect made for twists that had the f-bombs dropping. Next up is the love/hate situation they have going, but the chemistry isn't going to be held down for long, and they are in the same house (though it's HUGE) so they can't completely stay away from each other. Added in were the secondaries that provided the hysterically funny moments that Ms. Travers excels at, leaving me with my stomach muscles hurting by the end from all the laughing hard. At this point, there are feelings being caught, but nothing is easy so will Marco be able to keep her safe for a shot at a future?! You know what to do to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Quick, easy read with the mafia taking the lead in this story. Carrying over from the last book Marco is holding on to Royal to keep her safe from the crazy Meeks. The Knights take a backseat in this story other than lending a hand to protect Royal when needed and the ole ladies being there for Royal in the last weeks of her pregnancy. This seemed a little insta with the romance between Royal and Marco. I didn’t really feel their connection. I loved both of them separately but couldn’t see them together until the end. Marco is a fantastic hunk with his MC background and his mafia Don-in-waiting persona. He’s a boss and everyone knows it! He’s terrific with Royal especially at the end. Not much happened until the end when there was a showdown with the Meeks. Danger, suspense and bullets! One villain down now on to the killer taking the girls. I look forward to more of this next gen MC. 3.5 stars
Lots going on in this story! Marco & Royal have a bit to work through in the beginning, and she's not quite a happy camper when he swoops in. However, he's able to work his way into her heart fairly quickly with the help of 4 hilarious older women known as the Golden Girls!
This was a quick, fun, sweet read with just a hint of heat. We get some surprises along the way that are hilarious, too. I highly enjoyed the story - I love the world of the Knights & the way the Banachis have been worked in, not only here but throughout the MC series this author writes. I really feel like the whole MC world here is connected well. And aside from the road to Royal & Marco's HEA & the family they create together, I loved seeing their relationships w/ the other characters, and Royal's realization that she's not alone in the world.
Royal Mess is full of hilarious banter, sweetness and fun, but it also brings some heat in more ways than one. Royal may start out giving Marco sass and heartbreak, but when the switch flips these two are adorable. Marco has this sensitive swoon worthy side that I adore. I like that we got the Mafia/MC mix in this story with the guys and the ladies because I knew a good time was coming my way. The complete acceptance Royal receives by Marco and everyone helps her realize she’s found her home. You need to read this book for the cherry almond bread, the media room, the hallway run, the freezer and the baby name alone. I can’t wait to find out who Bristol was doing “inventory”with. Royal Mess takes family love and loyalty to a whole new level and I’m totally here for it.
Royal mess has us riding with the Devil Knights again and taking up residence with the Banachi’s. Marco and Royal’s story is heartbreaking, passionate and action packed. Their story is also filled with witty banter and how could it not with Meg close at hand. Their story will have you captivated and on the edge of your seat as tragedy and an intense chemistry bring these two together. Marco might wear the suit and the stoic expression of the mafia but this man has a heart of gold when it comes to anything concerning Royal. As havoc and chaos reign down, Marco and Royal will steal your heart. For all the fans of Winter Travers there just might be a surprise connection with another crazy ol’ lady that will have you on the edge of your seat and counting down the days for the next book in this series.
I wasn't sure what I was going to get in Royal Mess. Marco seemed cold at the start, closed off. He kept his emotions so locked down, it took me by surprise when he couldn't stay away from her. Royal was still reeling from the events in the previous book and 9 months pregnant to boot. She is confused about how she feels, her life is definitely a mess. Luckily Marco is able to handle just about anything. I absolutely fell in love with this couple. The heat and chemistry between them, combined with the soul deep attraction was just perfect! There were a few surprises and more than a couple laughs which I have come to expect when the Devil's Knights are involved. This second generation is definitely following in their predecessors footsteps and doing so superbly. Can't wait for more!
Love this couple. Marco feels guilty. Royal was recused (very pregnant Royal) from a man who didn't deserve her and had nefarious plans for her. When it seemed the MC had enough on their hands with another problem he took her to his secret estate to protect her.
While they are in a dangerous and serious situation, Marco wants her and her baby. He just has to get past her anger and prove his feelings. With the help of some of the ole ladies and a couple of others, it is gonna be hilarious. (anytime those ladies get together it is a wild time.)
There will be laughter, tears, steam, danger, and a great story. Don't miss this new gem from the author. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
I was waiting for Marco’s book and Winter didn’t disappoint! She delivered an awesome book with lots of comedy mixed in as usual.
Marco was a bit of a mystery to me in regards to his personality so I can’t even tell you how in love with him I fell once we got to see who he is deep down.
Marco isn’t phased by Royal and her coming off as not liking him. He is determined to take care of her and her baby. Little does she know he wants it all including the baby to be is.
You know there is lots of comedy with this MC and it wouldn’t be the same without them in any book. Plus the drama will keep you on your toes.
I’m ready for the next book and can’t wait to see what happens!
Where do I even begin... Royal and Marco's story is one of heartbreak and redemption. The mess that has been made Marco needs to clean it up, and he decides to do that the only way he knows how. Royal is a sweet and sassy heroine who made a few bad life choices that have lead her to not only the Devil's Knights but on the radar of the Banachi family as well. I enjoyed watching how these two tip toed around one another. When they finally let their guards down they both get to experience everything that their loved ones have been lucky to have. I can not wait to see what happens next with huge family!
I changed my mind!! I want a mafia man!! I mean so hot, dangerous, smart, sarcastic, sweet and so hot. Oh, I already said that but really Marco is amazing. He is following right behind the biggest boss , Leo and holding his own. He admits to his mistakes and does what he can to right them. Royal has been through some stuff and still manages to to live her life and try her hardest to better for herself and her unborn baby. She fell for the wrong man, a really wrong man. She paid dearly for that choice and Marco is determined to protect her and give her a life and future she deserves. This is a great addition to this series!! Keep them coming! - your friendly book stalker!!
firstly, you have to read the previous book to understand what's happening right off the bat in this one.... but secondly, I just didn't get what this book was even about truly was it just about this pregnant girl getting the rich guy in a Luke warm way or was it about protecting her finding the villain and falling in love... if it was supposed to be the later then I'm super dissapointed.... I checked where I was in the books... first 40%, then 56% then 74% then somewhere around then86% finish line something finally happened. then ended as quickly as it happened.anyway, good author not so great book this go around for me unfortunately....
