Detective Mitch Speed served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for sixteen years, during which time he was publicly recognized as representing "the best of law enforcement in terms of respect for citizens, respect for his community, and a commitment to exemplary service above all else."

After being diagnosed in 2016 with stage-4 cancer, Mitch spent countless hours in front of his computer penning a book initially intended for family and friends. 7 books3 followersMitch Speed has been a Law Enforcement Officer for over fifteen years. In May of 2016, Mitch was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. On that day, Mitch stepped away from work and committed his life entirely to God. Mitch had one request, he asked God to use him and his journey to help others in whatever way God decided.
Prior to his diagnoses, Mitch worked as a Detective for one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the nation. His duty assignment was to conduct investigations into violent criminal cases. Prior to working as a Detective, Mitch pushed a radio car and worked the streets where he handled anything and everything that you could imagine. Mitch sees the world through a different set of eyes, as his eyes have seen things that are unexplainable on paper.
After his diagnosis, Mitch’s life took on a much deeper and more powerful purpose as God opened his eyes and ears to so many things he had been missing throughout the years. These are the things Mitch wishes to share with you in the pages of this book. This book will help to build your faith through difficult times as Mitch shares his uniquely positive and insightful perspective on life.

Truly inspiring!!!
I wasn't sure what I would find when I decided to purchase this book. I wanted to support someone I felt was in need. A man who is battling for his life. A man who had chosen a path of selflessness as a career, because it takes a special kind of man to do that. I figured he had a purpose and had the courage to put his words into writing and it was a dream of his to share his story. I wanted to support that. But what I found in his writing and learning about this mans life was something truly amazing. I found that reflection, as hard as it is sometimes, is a wonderful thing. If we do not pause and take note of all that we have accomplished in our lives, take stock of all the positive things around us, reflect in life's lessons, we can easily miss the biggest lesson of all, that wether or not you believe in God, He believes in you! I do believe in God. I've just realized that I haven't given myself to him and the commitment it requires to effectively touch other lives and share his message of hope. Mitch, we live in the same community, but we have never met. I want you to know that my family will pray for you. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful message and touching the life of someone you have never met. Once again, you have proven to be an "instrument" of God. I will share this book with enthusiasm for all to read. Well done, sir.

This was truly an amazing read. The author gave me something to think about and take away from each small story. This book is very inspirational and has lifted my faith. You can feel in your soul this man's Journey, not only with Cancer but with life itself. He reminds, me the reader, how our faith can carry us through life and how we are provided with life lessons from God. You can tell he serves with a big heart!
I am sure his family must be proud, not only for his courage and strength...but for sharing his faith in a simple man's short stories that teach so much.
