She’s determined to find him a match… whether he’s ready or not.
Miss Daisy Holloway is in need of a position and fortunately she knows the best one: matchmaker. After all, she has no intention of staying in her family’s home forever. Daisy might not yet be England’s premiere matchmaker, but she is certain she will be once she convinces the Duke of Hammett, Bath’s newest temporary resident, to let her find him a bride. What better way to start her career than to find the perfect bride for a duke? And what more difficult duke to match than the dour, perpetually grumpy Duke of Hammett?
The only thing worse than being injured in a boxing match for Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett, is being forced to go to Bath to heal. There’s a reason that the broadsheets have called him the Beast, and it’s not because of spending time in a spa town to recuperate. Reggie certainly has no need of a wife, despite what a particular aspiring, definitely pushy matchmaker desires.

Will their lack of funds and own scars impede them from a happy future ...
Oh what a fun read this book was. I read it in half a day and enjoyed myself much. Reggie and Daisy are unusual characters and so very opposite, yet perfect for each other. Reggie despite is lofty title struggle to stay above water thanks to his father’s debts. He can only stay afloat through his boxing talents. But one too many match has left him injured. How he finds himself in Bath to recover and to fall under the scrutiny of a miss determined to see him married. A miss who does not run away at the mere sight of him, who answers his awkwardness with cheerful glee. A miss with whom for once he feels at ease. Daisy does with what life has thrown on her path, and while she is unable to make her parents see reason, she hopes by following her own path, She might help her and them too. Even if she can’t walk, she is comfortable among people and good at bringing them together. So how presenting herself as a duke’s solution to his predicament can be difficult?
Together they are great, she looks at him in the eyes and does not shy away from his scars and he does not see her disability as other what it is, he never pities nor belittles her. This is a perfect light hearted amusing romp with unusual servants, a scowling Duke, an energized matchmaker, a princess and her dutiful bodyguard. 4.5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
The only thing worse than being injured in a boxing match for Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett, is being forced to go to Bath to heal. This is the fifth book in the series but is easily read on its own. A well written entertaining read. I loved the wheelchair bound Daisy who had a lovely sunny disposition, I liked Reggie but found him to be very dour at the start. Whilst the pair were attracted to each other from the start the chemistry between them was a slow burn which gradually began to simmer. The road to their HEA was entertaining & there were laugh aloud moments especially the boating incident. I hope they also took Alistair with them as he was a joy My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
3.5 stars I did like the characters of Daisy Holloway and Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett, very much. Daisy, was such an outgoing person, who wanted to help others. Even though she had many difficulties to manage in her life, not the least being her father, she was still intent upon being independent. To this end, she thought to become a matchmaker. Hammett was an unusual duke, in that he was also a boxer. He wasn’t very good at conversation with most people, except with Daisy. The more time they spent together, the more they grew to a deeper understanding. This was an enjoyable read. I received a copy and have voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Duke Meets His Matchmaker, by Bianca Blythe. I had so much fun reading the romantic love story. I simply couldn’t stop giggling. I found Reggie, Daisy and Alistar’s characters an awesome treat to a traditional romantic love story. The characters were playful, but serious in certain situations when need be. The story has realism to it, in which I enjoyed the book even more. The book has wonderful entertainment with each turn of the page. The book is easy to read. The humor among the characters adds to the quick pace of the books. The story has a wonderful romance the blooms between Daisy and Reggie. It’s so cute and sweet. I actually sighed at the ending. I find this book an absolute delight to read. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
I seldom use the word delightful, and yet every time I read a book from Bianca Blythe, that's the precise word that comes to mind. Her characters, the dialogue, the plot, in my opinion, can best be described as delightful. Her humor is droll, as seen in statements like this one: “The rain began to plummet, no doubt finding staying in the clouds sufficiently tiresome.” And this one: “Mr. Tortworth’s eyebrows leaped toward his hairline. His brow’s grayness had not rendered them devoid of any athletic ability.”
In this book Daisy, the girl in the wheelchair who has helped all of her friends find their true loves, finally, and quite unexpectedly, finds her own in the person of Reginald (Reggie) Smythe, Duke of Hammett. Nicknamed "the beast" because of his reputation in the boxing ring, this duke never took the need to socialize very seriously and comes across as grumpy. This is compounded by his recent injury in the boxing ring. His estate is suffering due to the poor investments of his father and his best bet is to find a woman with a big dowry. Daisy decides she is the perfect person to help him, and in the process, she can start her own little business as a matchmaker and become financially independent because she has no dowry, and furthermore, she is not marriage material (in her mind anyway). There is no danger of the two of them falling in love because it is not practical. Ha!
As I have come to expect from any Bianca Blythe book, dialogue is witty and engaging. This conversation involves the decision regarding the flowers to choose for an upcoming ball: “What's your favorite color?” He gazed at her, noting how her eyes sparkled and shimmered. “Green.” This time her mouth fell open. His mouth dried. No doubt she remembered that her own eyes were green. She immediately composed herself, and an odd disappointment moved through him. “In that case, we’ll be certain to retain their stems,” Daisy said.
Reggie tells his manservant that he will be having a guest and Alistair makes an assumption about what kind of guest will be coming to the house, suggesting the housekeeper might scatter rose petals about the bedroom. Reggie’s response was both highly amusing and endearing: “N-not that kind of guest,” Reggie shrieked, sending a horrified look about the corridor to determine if any chambermaids had overheard it. Luckily, Alistair recovers quickly, as he is coming to understand Reggie. In a later conversation, when Reggie ponders why his words had been misunderstood by Daisy and her father, he tells Alistair, “I wouldn’t have said the words if I didn’t mean them.” Alistair responds, “Not everyone is acquainted with your restraint with the use of the full English vocabulary.”
Poor Reggie is beside himself when he realizes that he loves Daisy and he needs to make sure she knows. He cannot find her anywhere and decides perhaps some of her friends can help. He finds himself at the bath house, having already determined that she isn’t there, insisting the receptionist find some of the ladies in the spa and bring them to him. Horrified, she stares at him as he mentions several different names. Finally, he says, “I’m afraid you might be under the wrong impression.” Her response is priceless. “Are you certain there is a right impression to have?”
Relying on understatement, as always, Ms. Blythe relays a conversation between Reggie and Daisy after they’ve taken a “tumble” and need to face her parents: “I have the feeling my hair is not at its best,” Daisy said. “If that feeling disturbs you, I would suggest not looking in the mirror.”
But, in the end, this was my absolute favorite thing and made me burst out laughing. It’s lucky I wasn’t indulging in a beverage. Reggie and Daisy can hear her parents in his house talking to Alistair and insisting Daisy is there. At last, they emerge from the upstairs and her parents go nuts. “I knew it,” Papa said and shot Alistair an accusatory Look. “You said you hadn’t seen my daughter.” “Oh, she’s your daughter?” Alistair asked in an innocent voice. To me, the absurdity of the man who answers the door and knows everyone who comes in and out claiming he somehow didn’t realize the woman they were looking for was the only one who was in the house, was just hysterical. When the story ended not long after, I was still chuckling over that.
Reginald “Reggie” Smythe, the Duke of Hammett, known to the world as the Beast is injured from his last boxing match. His doctor suggests he takes a break and relaxes in Bath to recuperate also to see a very prominent doctor there. Reggie is horrified at the idea but goes anyway. Reggie doesn’t want anyone to know that he is there. Miss Daisy Holloway is at Bath and has come up with a most ingenious plan. She knows that the Duke of Hammett is there secretly. Daisy will make herself known to the Duke by being his matchmaker and finding him a bride. Reggie is not at Bath to find a wife even though Daisy is determined to find one for him. As Reggie continues to rebel against Daisy’s efforts he slowly falls for her and she for him. Still for Daisy and Reggie to fall in love is not supposed to happen. What a wonderfully different refreshing take on the Beauty and the Beast Regency style! The story has a certain charm all its own and manages to pull you into it. The book is nicely written, the plots twists are believable and even the characters are lovely. Ms Bianca Blythe even tells a good tale that is easy to like which is low are the sex but still the feelings between the hero and heroine is easily felt. Daisy, the fun-loving heroine might have a lot to face and even seems full of life despite being in a wheelchair. She doesn’t let that slow her down. Daisy shows that even with her disability she isn’t disabled at all. She definitely gives a softer appeal to Reggie’s tough demeanor. Daisy’s father is a little irritating and annoying though especially when he doesn’t listen to Daisy. While Reggie is the brutish hero calms his beastly behavior around Daisy. Sometimes his growling is a little off-putting which also makes him difficult to like him at times. This is however, just a feel good story that is well worth the read!
The Duke Meets His Matchmaker is book #5 in The Duke Hunters Club and is really great. Daisy Holloway is looking for a way to become financially and happily independent. Her parents are chasing their dream of her overcoming her childhood accident and walking again, much to their financial detriment. Daisy has a knack for matchmaking and has been successful connecting friends with their perfect marriage partners. Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett seems like the perfect man to match and prove she is the best matchmaker anyone could hire. He is a huge challenge and quite grumpy and not ready to marry. Also he is a boxer known as The Beast, not quite normal for his rank. When he comes to Bath to recover from an injury she relentlessly tries to match him with hilarious results. He knows long before she does that she is his match, but it takes time to convince her. His butler and her housekeeper are also such great characters and add to the fun. This is so well written and very enjoyable to read. Loved this book! I read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This is such a delightful story! Reggie is a Duke, with a struggling Dukedom, so he boxes to supplement his income. Injured in his last fight, his doctor sends him to Bath, to recuperate and see a Doctor there. That’s where he meets Daisy. Her parents have brought her there hoping that the healing waters might make her well again. Injured as a child, when she fell from a balcony, she has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. But Daisy had a delightful attitude. Wanting to gain her independence she decides that she is quite adept at matching up her friends in matrimony and that she could probably make a living becoming a professional matchmaker. She thinks that the Duke would be just the one for her to arrange a perfect match. She takes him by storm with her enthusiastic and cheerful demeanor. It’s no wonder that he couldn’t help but fall in love with her, as she threw one perfect princess after another at him. The Beastly Duke turned out to be a Prince Charming as well, and only she could be his Duchess. Loved every page of this story!
The protagonists are just fine. I don't see any obvious flaws in them. They do not behave completely ridiculously. Their thought process does not seem to be entirely flawed. However, the situations in which they find themselves are utterly nonsensical. The cast of characters is annoyingly outlandish. There is a bona fide princess among them... and an American magnate's daughter ... and they are the best of friends.
Then, there is transportation... which does not make any sense. At some point, the female protagonist and her maid hire a carriage to an area outside of Bath proper and are just left there. How were they planning to hire a carriage to go back? They did not have a cell phone. It's not as if taxis circulate through the country side (even nowadays). Smoke signals? Luckily, the male protagonist was there.
I hate loose ends and will compulsively finish the series. But, I will shake my head now and then. So, if you are unwilling to suffer the nonsense, try a different brand of historical romance.
Desperate for some independence and to find a way to help her parents pay for the medical bills that keep mounting up, Daisy decides that being a matchmaker is well within the realms of possibility, as she knows all the right people and is adept at spotting the perfect match. When the Duke of Hammett descends on Bath after a boxing match that went horribly wrong, Daisy knows she has her first client. Despite his lofty title, Reginald is not an easy customer as he is uncomfortable in a social setting, but fortunately, he has Daisy, his butler, and his housekeeper who all bolster his flagging social skills. This lighthearted and entertaining romance is generally well written and comes to a happy and successful conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is the 5th book in the series The Duke Hunt, but it is definitely a stand-alone book. This book is about Daisy who needs to get a job, the only job she thinks she will be good at is a Matchmaker. While she is in Bath, she sees a Duke, who she decides if she can match him up, she will be set in her future career. Reggie, who is a Duke and a boxer, was hurt. He was sent to Bath to recover. There he meets Daisy who will not leave him alone until she finds him a bride. This love story is sweet. It is nice how both characters do not seem to care about the other one’s physical difficulties. I am glad Daisy found her happy ever after with Reggie. I really enjoyed Alistair, I think everyone should have someone like him working for them. I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion.
The Strength of Love! I really enjoyed this story about how Reggie and Daisy fall in love. Just goes to show that even with disabilities, long term and short term, the heart still does what it wants even if the people are under the impression that its not convenient at the time. I loved Daisy's attitude snd her pure 'chutzpah' when overcoming her inability to walk. She is a really strong and likable character with a wonderful attitude to life. Reggie, on the other hand, tended to start off feeling very sorry for himself, but Daisy soon triggers the 'man' in him and I loved his change in attitude. This is a beautiful love story, told with much heart and a definite recommend for anyone who enjoys a very good romance. I read an Advance Reader Copy of this story and my review is given voluntarily and is also unbiased.
Pretty, single, but at the moment, she has other concerns: helping her parents with medical bills. Worried about getting money, that's when Miss Daisy Holloway decides that she would be an excellent matchmaker. And for that, fate provides her with the best first customer: Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett.
Reginald is known as the Beast for a very simple reason, he's tremendously grumpy. Handsome and rich, he didn't think about getting married anytime soon. Especially in that period after getting hurt in a boxing match that went wrong. Forcing himself to go to Bath to heal, he doesn't want to know about marriage or matchmaker, but how to escape Miss Daisy, when she was so insistent... and beautiful?
And when he finds himself totally overwhelmed by her way of being, in the end, who was being matchmaker for whom? 4,5 stars
I received a copy from the author via BookFunnel; this is my honest review -Fun banter between Reggie and Daisy, with a few interference from Mrs. Powell. -Sad at times, especially when Daisy's parents are present or talked about. -Special bonds of friendship appear when love needs to be rescued. -I really liked Daisy in the other books and she seems to have many friends surrounding her. They make her feel more normal than her parents ever did. Reggie is the same as her friends. -I loved the scenes at the duke's ball as it reminded me of a friend in college who had MS and couldn't stand on his feet but every time he went to a dance, there was an abundance of girls who would hold him up to dance with them. Pleasure. -I loved Alistair too; he was a real hoot and I do hope the Duke will keep him. -I have loved every book in this series; don't miss out and buy the book!
Another winner! Love the touch of Beauty and the Beast. Which happens to be the Dukes nickname, also known as Reggie. He is a down on his luck Duke, who has taken up Boxing as a career to supplement his income. Frown upon by many. Daisy is lonely, all her friends have happily married thanks to her Matchmaking skills. Now it is time for her talent to earn her money and independence. Her parents are bankrupting themselves trying to find a cure to help Daisy walk again. The Duke is in Bath for treatment for injuries he incurred from his last match. Daisy spends several months there every year to take the waters. Seeing the Duke is an answer to her prays.....a Matchmaker dream come true. I love the characters, you just want their story to continue.
As a fan of Regency Period romances I love it when Bianca Blythe comes out with a new book. It’s pretty much a guarantee of a well done story that’s Period appropriate, romantic and fun. That’s certainly the case with her latest, The Duke Meets His Matchmaker (The Duke Hunters Club Book 5). I loved Daisy Holloway and her Duke (yes, acknowledging I’ve a weakness for a strong Duke character), Reginald Smythe, Duke of Hammett. Reginald might be known as the Beast, but this beauty will tame him (sorry, I just couldn’t resist). Great storyline, beautifully presented and filled with well crafted lead and supporting characters. Delicious, and highly recommended.
Reggie is injured once again from boxing! His doctor recommends Bath for recovery he has a scar but is still a handsome, virile man! Daisy is in a bath chair unable to walk! Reggie is a Duke but not a very wealthy one but he wants to invest all he is and has into Daisy! I am not sure how that will work since she can't walk! All Daisy friends are married to Dukes and it seems very improbable she will ever marry but she's had success at matchmaking and what better way to live variously through others dreams! This is a very sweet story and of course there is opposition and I love how the people around them offer good advice!
This is a delightful story of a would be matchmaker and a penniless duke. Daisy is determined to find a match for Reginald whether he wants or not. In the meantime she finds herself falling in love with him and he with her. Will this be the last thing that is possible? Bianca Blythe has written a hilariously funny encounter about two unlikely lovers that is marvelous. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Daisy may not have use of her legs but that doesn't stop her from trying to forge her own path away from her overprotective parents. She decides to be a matchmaker and convinces a surley duke and boxer to be her first client. She sees the potential in him and as they traverse the marriage mart Daisy is the one he wants. Neither have any money, but Reginald is determined to make her his. I received a complimentary copy and my review is voluntary.
FINDING A WIFE FOR A DUKE Miss Daisy Holloway decides to be a matchmaker to make money and become independent. She sets her sight on Reginald, the Duke of Hammett. Known as the Beast, he carries scars from the way he pays the bills, boxing. The more Daisy pushes him to meet prospects, the more Reggie knows that she's the one. The one that makes him blush and captures his heart. Very sweet, funny and romantic.
This is the fifth book in the Duke Hunters Club but it can be read as a standalone with no difficulties. Entertaining book with 2 lovable and relatable characters, fun, drama, and romance. Daisy's parents are insufferable and egoist. I received a free ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The Duke Meets His Matchmaker (Book 5) By a Bianca Blythe
Five stars, Reggie and Daisy a Duke and his matchmaker. Shows that the disability Daisy has to helping the Duke in acquiring a wife. Failed, cause even if she is confined to a wheel chair it didn't stop growing love for each other. The problem is her over protected father. But it has a good ending.
Wonderful story. Daisie is a delightful young woman, seeking a life of independence for herself. There's just one thing, she is handicapped, From a childhood accident. Reggie is a Duke ,and a boxer. He needs a wealthy wife. Daisie becomes his matchmaker, and between matches they fell in love. Thank you ♥️
I enjoy Bianca Blythe books and again she did not disappoint. A Duke that box to safe his estate and a lady in a wheelchair, she wanted to found him a wife but to him she was the only wife he wanted. Such a perfect love story
The Duke meets his matchmaker is a really cute story. Daisy and Reggie are a match made in heaven. She is trying to find the perfect wife for him and he has found... Her! This is a very cute and funny story that will have you giggling while picturing exactly what Bath was like in 1822.
A fantastic story for all! This is the 5th book in the "The Duke Hunters Club " series and could read as stand alone. Fun, laughs... and surprising moments... A young lady as matchmaker... a young duke healing from a boxing.... I recevied a free copy and this is my voluntary review
This is another wonderfully crafted addition to this amazing series. There is an element of suspense to this spicy at the end story, that will keep you engrossed all the way though. All the characters are once again brilliantly portrayed.
A cute idea but clumsily executed. The era is haphazardly drawn and the etiquette poorly understood. The characters are decent but their meetings are awkward and contradictory. The writing could be witty if there weren’t so many flaws. Couldn’t get into it. DNF.
