This was fluff. And I knew that going into it, but sometimes I read fluff and I get something more out of it. Either it’s wildly amusing, or with the inspirational stuff, something meaningful relates to my life. This was neither. Decent story line, but it definitely could have gone deeper.
It was... Okay. Had a hard time keeping my attention. There just wasn't enough conflict for the length of the book and what there was seemed to be resolved super easily, except that the main character is kept regurgitating in their heads and with other people what had already been expressed earlier in the book which kind of got old. But it wasn't a bad book. It just, didn't leave much of an impression.
Kay Brookes writes a heartwarming story of love, forgiveness, and survivor’s guilt in her second book of her series, “A small town sisterhood novel.” Addy Mitchell returns to her foster family when her job ends. She is hoping to rebuild her friendship with Jake Landers. She kept a secret that he can’t seem to forgive. Jack is back from his mission trip to the Congo, where things didn’t go according to plan. He is in a wheelchair and plagued with guilt. Can he see his way to forgiving Addy?
Both Jake and Addy are wrestling with issues in their lives. I feel for both of them as they work to get beyond the obstacles that are keeping them from moving ahead in their own lives and for a possible relationship with each other. A good read!
I enjoyed the message that the book conveyed throughout the entire story. The message of forgiveness and second chances is so very true in today's world. I enjoyed the book so very much.
