A submissive football star bound for the NFL… a dominant professor into BDSM... Do they spell disaster? JR’s got a secret. In fact, it’s so secret—even he doesn’t know about it. It’s not that he’s in the closet to his team, his family, everybody. It’s not that he’d rather study DNA than play in the NFL. Who would've guessed that the biggest man on campus… might sometimes need a Daddy?
Dr. Thomas Fletcher has a problem. The professor can deal with idiotic undergrads. He can handle disruptions to his research. The detached dom can even tolerate an occasional clingy twink. But when a certain jock challenges his intellect and libido, will hearts enter the equation? Because that would be a problem.
An unlikely Daddy. A really, really big boy. Is the odd couple’s experiment destined to fail, or can JR and Fletcher win their high-stakes game?
B is for Baby Me (Classes in Kink Book 1) is an MM stand-alone gay romance with BDSM elements, Daddy/boy love names, an age gap, and a guaranteed HEA with no cheating or cliffhangers... but plenty of giggle-snorts, eye-rolls, and first time kink exploration.
Kaycee Cooper's recipe for Gay Romance: Dish out a few scoops of quirky characters. Top with a heaping spoonful of steamy scenes. Sprinkle with kink play. Add a dash of boundary-pushing and a dollop of "blasphemy". Enjoy!
When not writing (or reading) an LGBT romance with BDSM and an HEA, she's probably hanging out with her F-bombing best friend and a spoiled rescue D-O-G.
The portrayal of Josh, the Indian guy, was just plain ignorant and insulting. Newsflash, Indians KNOW the difference between 'lowkey' and 'Loki'. They are also aware of homosexuality. Also, all Indian guys are NOT nervous, stuttering and prudish and they know about handjobs, blowjobs and porn!!!!! Next time, the author should move past all the fucking ridiculous stereotypes.
I liked the dynamic and the concept, but every character was over-the-top and there was no sense of place. Even specific locations that were visited more than once were vague notions at best. There was too much dialogue without anything happening between quips, and the internal monologue - especially in JR's POV, but Thomas' too - was oversimplified and superficial. It was a rare case where they felt more like real people when seen through each other's eyes than when the reader was, supposedly, in their heads.
Also, JR's Indian roommate was basically a caricature of a nerdy career- and sex-obsessed virgin who is both naive and inappropriate. Don't we just love it when an Asian caricature is included for no reason? (No. No, we do not.)
I’m not sure where to start… this book is.. problematic… not only on how Josh the Indian is dealt with, but all of the other gross stereotypes. I’m not sure how I made it to the end. This book was recommended in a big group and I am a big fan of new-to-me authors that surprise me. But all this did was reinforce how disconnected so many authors are to queer and gay culture. This started in one theme.. that was kind of awful. I almost quit at 10% because Fletcher was nasty. For some reason I kept going… and it just got more and more bizarre. Not once was there a “I’m boinking my student and maybe this is a problem?” And Simon was just predatory. It’s one thing when an older man unexpectedly falls for a younger man. It’s another when an older man seeks out younger men. So later the theme changed and it was just… all over the place. This is another prime example of when an author doesn’t have a plan, or proper editors, and it’s just an epic train crash from beginning to end. I need to stop taking chances in this genre… because 9/10 it’s an epic failure.
DNF at 7% Maybe it improves but I HATED the professor and his condescending attitude. Maybe he needed to get a job in private industry not a university. As if he was some kind of superior specimen at 18. And then the first time you meet a student you take him to a kink club because sex is the cure for anxiety disorder? So crossing a million lines and I know it's fantasy and I've read prof/student stories but just not for me. If I hate a main character in the first 2 pages of his introduction, I do NOT want him to get his HEA and JR should find someone better.
The story started out interesting and kind of borderline tabooish because JR is of age and free to love but still an undergraduate and a direct student of Dr. Fletcher *gasp*.The cover model just adds a lot of spiciness into the book.
I really like the first half of the book, where Dr Fletcher was helping JR deals with his anxiety *ahem* through a lot of exploration. But that second half was not as good and thus the 3.5 stars. Dr. Fletcher was losing that arrogance and Sheldon-ish personality from Big Bang Theory which cracked me up from the start. I really liked that version of Dr. Fletcher and I was sad to see him fading out at the end. Instead, we get this.. lovey and caring Dom whos head over heels for JR. The portrayal of JR roomate Josh which kinds of reminds me of Raj from Big Bang Theory (P.S Josh is also an astrophysicist) was amusing at first but got pretty annoying at the end. I think this is considered a decent read if you are into college plots with teacher-student relationship and certain tropes .
“The student reminds me of one of those huge, cold-weather breeds—a Bernese Mountain Dog or a St. Bernard puppy—the kind with gigantic paws and a tendency to slobber.” .... “... and those eyes—chocolate brown with gold-tipped lashes—focus on me like I’m the only man in the world. Ugh. I hope the big guy is paper-trained.”
JR, jock college student and potential top NFL draft pick, falls for his genetics professor, Fletcher. It’s surprisingly low angst for the storyline - which I love - yet still full of feels and fun with lots of tongue-in-cheek humor. Loved the heat and kink.
3.5 stars I loved the big jock and the smaller daddy thing and I really liked that it was mostly a happy to lucky story.Jocks and scientists becoming friends and loving each other I didn't like however was how Josh was portrayed it seemed comically racially studio typical and that ruined it a bit for me the mixed up sayings and understandings were a bit much and vastly over exaggerated
I almost gave up on this book. I had a really hard time getting into this book. I did not like the way Fletcher was acting towards other people...but I’m glad I kept going. I loved all the camaraderie between the football team and the others. I loved seeing the relationship blossom to love between Ben and his Daddy. Great story! Looking forward to the next book!!!
I loved this! The entire cast of characters was fun and memorable. I loved the strict, dominant professor and the huge football player submissive (HOT). I thought the development of their relationship was excellent, and it kept me reading without throwing in pointless relationship drama. I will absolutely read the next book by this author!
Two small quibbles that kept it from five stars. First, people have commented on the portrayal of the roommate as being insensitive. I *think* the author was going for nerdy-cute; I liked Josh as a character but did have to get over some of the stereotypes she used. Second, from about 60% to 75% I felt like we were in fast-forward. Scenes were literally half a page and incomplete in order to give us snapshots of time passing. I understand what the author was doing, but I didn’t particularly like the style. I was very glad we slowed things down again for the end (and I wouldn’t have kept reading if it started that way).
Adorable book. I've always loved the smaller dom/bigger sub trope and with the added twist of professor/student and a sprinkle of jock and a pinch of Daddy kink this book is delectable! I've given a 5 star review because this was truly a unique twist on an old favorite. The writing was well done, occasionally something felt a bit off for me, but I'm still not sure what (maybe it was all the parentheses?). This book also had a delightful plethora of hilarious side characters that I cannot wait to see more of. JR was refreshingly adorable, I adore that he wasn't the typical dumb jock,, I love the slightly naive brain and brawn combo. I wish we would've seen a bit more. More kink, more of JR's exploration on his own, just a bit...more. Overall I think this was an excellent debut? book from an author I will definitely be following.
This is a hot little number, sexy and kinky. Yes it has its issues, I have seen other reviewers get hung up on the portrayal of Josh, who's character seems to be every stereotype of an Indian man, I didn't, Josh was sweet and Josh like, he was just him. I can't wait to read his and Karma's story. Back to JR and Fletcher this was so good, it went from being a kindle unlimited read to a brought book. I loved the sense of family.
I usually like my books with a flare of the dramatics, even sweet ones. This one have none of the drama and all the sweet and wholesome kinky student/teacher good stuff. It's so full of puns and innuendoes I was shaking my head more than once while still laughing at it because the amount is ridiculous.
I love the found family feel between the characters, no book have accepted others with such open arms as this one.
JR's sweetness and need for cuddles was adorable, I could even say I would have been happy with him and Fletcher cuddling half the time they get it on. The kinky scenes are well written and hot.
I like how, even though the book jumps forth, it still keeps us in touch with the characters throughout. Overall, I liked it and I will read about Josh next.
I don't know how to feel about this book 😅 I have a lot of writing styles issues but I keep coming back and re-reading it because the characters are just so good!
I loved the MCs and their dynamic, JR is the sweetest puppy ever and the found family feels were so good, however the amount of cringing I did at all the awful puns and double entendres was physically painful 😖😂
Also not sure how to feel about Josh's character... sometimes he feels wholesome at other times he feels too much like a walking stereotype 😬
I am delighted by this book by this debut author. I stumbled upon it while looking for some Daddy/boy books and I’m glad I did. The double entendres alone were golden! These two took forever to figure out their feelings but their was surprisingly not too much angst involved in the process.
Not a bad story, although the nicknames often veered into utter ridiculous territory. And the one notable name of Simon's employee. And I'm really not sure how the University would view the relationship...yeah, maybe suspend the norms of most society for this one. But still, it was fun and sexy overall when it wasn't silly.
30% and I could already dissect this gay 50 shades want-to-be but it's not worth the time. 100% so this story did suck as much as I thought it would. I do like even a weak MM romance as well as DD/LB stories so 2 stars.
This was rec'd to me when I needed the fluffiest of fluff that ever fluffed and I was not disappointed. Fletcher may be a grumpy bastard but JR turns him into a giant marshmallow and I loved it!! I loved all the characters, especially Josh. I can't wait to read his book!
Couldn’t even go past the first chapter. The writing is very simple, reads like a mediocre fanfiction. The characters behave unrealistically as well. Disappointing
This book was OK as in reference to how many times OK can be mentioned in one book. The only reason this scores as high as a 3 is because of the overwhelming sweetness, kindness and Love of JR. That boy is adorable and deserves all the good things in life. The likeability of JR overshadowed most of what I hated about Fletcher. Now I will agree with other comments that claim he gets better in the second half and thats true, he dose get better, but the way the second half is written really makes it difficult to understand the growth of love, or to even really feel it. You get just snapshots of time that seem to span almost 3 months, and that seems to be were all of his growth as a character takes place, but we don't as readers really get to see it or experience it. That's why even though Fletcher gets better I still didn't really care for him. He was so cold and detached, and talked about JR as a possession more then as a person for the first half of the book. Also the jumps he made from professor to Dom was kinda so-so, I mean how do you go from talking about failing a test with a student, to then ending up at a "sex club" as Fletcher calls it? Even though JR was willing it came across like he was used, and that really didn't sit well with me. One other thing I really didn't like about him was the second time they went to the club, JR tells him exhibition is Red, Ruby Red and still he pushes, I understand a Dom pushing limts and boundaries but with a completely virgin sub you need to listen to him and come back around to things like that later...like for someone who has been a Dom for years should know. Overall not a bad storyline, I liked the physical dynamics of this couple and with JR being JR I was able to finish the book and didn't completely hate it, so I'll leave it at 3 stars.
So this was cute! Nothing insta love or anything super quick. Chemistry professor Tom Fletcher is no good with people. Can't stand anyone hardly, in fact. Only has respect for fellow smarty pants scientists. He likes to stereotype. He likes to be mean. He likes to be a dom, and can't imagine being a bottom. He's kind of a dick!
George Bennett Jr (JR) is an oversized submissive with zero knowledge of sex. Never been kissed. Knows almost nothing about sex and kinks. Ironically, none of the other football players were able to catch the over the top sex double entendre lines. I found all of this a little hard to believe. JR is a senior in college. He is 22. He has the internet and in fact, talks about learning more about sex from the internet. I don't know why he would have waited until he was sexually active before researching things. Especially as he knew he was gay, but was still in the closet.
The characters in this book were over the top stereotypes. So take that how you will. The roommate, the teammates, JR's dad SR, the best friend, the coach's wife... Mostly 2 dimensional stereotypes. Even JR going into sub space felt fake. Tom tells him he is going to go spacey, so he does. No real reason to. But he sure falls off the deep end at the end of their "sessions".
BUT!!! I enjoyed the story. It was written fairly well. It had slow build romance. It had some funny one liners.
Worth the read? Yes. Worth a second read? Probably not. Hot sex. Sweet romance.
I almost DNF'd this right out of the gate bc Fletcher was such a pompous douchebag asshole that I just couldn't. But then we hit that first sex scene and I became intrigued enough to stick around. I'm glad I did as the story, and characters thankfully, seemed to grow some decent bones as it moved along and I mostly enjoyed myself.
There was plenty that I found annoying or cringey--the descriptions of JR in subspace, the way Josh was portrayed, all the BDSM innuendos and double entendres, the completely nonexistent discussion over the inappropriateness of Fletcher and JR's relationship given that Fletcher was his professor, the book cover (it's hard to see the chair the dude is sitting on and it just looks weird)--but I just sorta gritted my teeth and bore it.
Several things balanced out the annoying parts--the depth and sweetness of the relationship between JR and Fletcher that developed, the awesomeness that George Sr turned out to be (so refreshing to have a gay MC's parent supportive of their sexuality and insists that the MC live his life for himself, not the parent), the cute and humorous nicknames given to the ball players.
The narrator grew on me over time as well. He was stiff and wooden at the outset but either he loosened up or I did bc I rather liked him by the end.
So all in all a likable enough read/listen. I think I may continue the series? We'll see.
I thought this book was interesting enough! I felt that all in all both Fletcher and JR was going to end up falling for each other. Because for one, JR already wanted him to began with. Especially when they went to the gay club thing - gent something.
Plus Fletcher too; but he was trying to fight it. But I mean all JR friends and even his father should’ve known that both of them had something going on. Because for one; Fletcher always was around when JR was hanging out with his friends.
That was a signal right there; his father finally caught on to it too. Plus deep down his friends probably did too. But was waiting on them to say something.
Also; Josiah, is about to get it 🤣 I can’t wait for his book. Because I already know that Simon going to come for him. Because he wants him some Josiah bad. But I am not so sure if Josiah knows. If he does he just not showing it and playing dumb. I’ll just have to wait and see whenever the author come out with the book. I’ve seen three more. So I am curious..
Not only that Josh and Karma... I am so ready for their book to come out because Josh is one curious boy and I want to know what will he learn from Karma.. I am still trying to figure out if that’s his real name.
Synopsis: George Bennet Jr. is an all-star athlete and bio major in his senior year of college. He’s at the top of his class and is primed to be picked up by the NFL… but then why is he so anxious? Dr. Fletcher is Spartacus University’s cold-hearted genetics professor and sees George’s potential as a master’s student in genetics and also… his potential as a Sub to his Dom. He offers him an opportunity for stress-relief and also to try to convince him to join his master’s program.
Review: ALRIGHT BUCKLE UP, FOLKS. I feel like I read a lot of kinky stuff but this was a new kink for me… and at first I was like 🥴 but by the end I was like 🥳. I liked a lot of elements of this book, including the spice, but I do think this specific flavor of kink may need to grow on you. (There was a lot of babying/daddy kind of sexy talk). Other elements I liked in this book was that there was a full cast, so you didn’t just only get to see the same two people. I also liked that the plot wasn’t entirely character-driven or relationship-driven. What I wasn’t crazy about was the tone of Dr. Fletcher - some of his dialogue/thoughts read cringey to me. It didn’t feel natural. But I got over it to be able to enjoy the book anyway.
First things first, wasn't that impressed with the authors depiction of Josh. I know some Indian men can be naive due to their conservative upbringing. But India does have computers, smart phones and dare I say it the internet. So I'm pretty sure that Josh would have seen a fair amount of porn in his short life!
For someone wanting to be a rocket scientist working for NASA, Josh comes across as a bumbling fool sometimes which does the character a disservice. However, I am looking forward to reading about Josh and the barista in the next book.
Right, that being said loved JR and his sexy professor! Such an education for JR - and what a way to relieve his anxiety!! Phwoar!!
Loved the interactions between JR and his football team although I did wonder if they would be so accepting of (a) an out gay player and (b) an out gay player having a relationship with his professor. But I live in hope there will come a time when this will happen and people will be accepted for who they are and who they love.
Interesting to see if 'Sigh-Moan' will get his own story, perhaps the first being how Simon and Tom (Dr. Thomas Fletcher) meet and another about the BDS&M business that Simon owns...
