Dr. R.C. Sproul (1939–2017) was founder of Ligonier Ministries, an international Christian discipleship organization located near Orlando, Fla. He was founding pastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Fla., first president of Reformation Bible College, and executive editor of Tabletalk magazine.

Ligonier Ministries began in 1971 as the Ligonier Valley Study Center in Ligonier, Pa. In an effort to respond more effectively to the growing demand for Dr. Sproul’s teachings and the ministry’s other educational resources, the general offices were moved to Orlando in 1984, and the ministry was renamed.

Dr. Sproul’s radio program, Renewing Your Mind, is still broadcast daily on hundreds of radio stations around the world and can also be heard online. Dr. Sproul produced hundreds of lecture series and recorded numerous video series on subjects such as the history of philosophy, theology, Bible study, apologetics, and Christian living.

He contributed dozens of articles to national evangelical publications, spoke at conferences, churches, and academic institutions around the world, and wrote more than one hundred books, including The Holiness of God, Chosen by God, and Everyone’s a Theologian. He signed the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and wrote a commentary on that document. He also served as general editor of the Reformation Study Bible, previously known as the New Geneva Study Bible.

Dr. Sproul had a distinguished academic teaching career at various colleges and seminaries, including Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando and Jackson, Miss. He was ordained as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America.

Dr Sproul has been a tremendous blessing in my life and his understanding of and ability to clearly communicate the Bible has been significantly helpful in my growth as a Christian. Excellent book!

Overview of several moments where Jesus’ divine glory was made manifest in His earthly ministry. A short and focused book that reads a bit like a thematic Bible commentary on select events. Much more historical than it is theological, although the chapter on God’s return does discuss the idea of a secret rapture from a theological perspective. Good read! 👍

An interesting walkthrough of Christ’s glory shone all throughout the Bible, even in some unexpected places. Dr. Sproul has a passionate and confident zeal for truth and communicates in a way that offers valuable perspective. A few of the middle chapters were my favorite, as Sproul provides rich detail into gospel passages I’ve often zoomed past. The Transfiguration chapter offered insight that I truly believe will stick with me for the rest of my life. Will read again in the future!

A short and crisp book about the Glory of Christ. R C Sproul did a wonderful job of showing Christ’s glory in digestible chapters (about 20 pages each). I like that he actually replicates the passages of Scriptures (rather than giving scripture reference), which makes it easier to see what the text says.

Don’t expect something as deep and meandering from this book as John Owen’s Glory of Christ. But this book does what it set out to do: show Christ’s glory throughout his earthly life. A book for both the young in faith, as well as those who want a refresher on Christ’s glory.

I underestimated this book because the book designed looked old. The book is quite to the point snd short enough for a quick enjoyment read. Dr Sproul weaves together some passages and drenches you with thorough understanding of the OT promises and cultures and teach you how Christ was fulfilling and fulfilled them. The chapters on His Wilderness times (temptation), crucifixion, the Resurrection, and especially Baptism and Transfiguration were quite insightful. As I write this, I realize that not a chapter was redundant or wasteful. This book is underrated. 5 stars.

This is a fairly simple yet thoughtful walk through some of the key moments in Jesus' revelation of His glory. I would have liked Dr Sproul to have perhaps explored this subject a bit more deeply, yet this book still managed to give me a taste of Christ's glory - a taste which has left me desiring to know more of Christ and search after these things for myself, which can only be a good thing.

Gotta love R.C.! Such a solid book. Good format of highlighting particular moments of glory chronologically in Jesus' life. Good historical tidbits and sound exegesis. And good points and use of scripture to back them up.

Recomendado.

Mentioned in lecture 26 (States of Christ) in Sproul's Foundations DVD series on systematics. Sproul mentioned that it is one of the books he most enjoyed writing, but one that has sold worse than any others. It sounded like a wonderful way to survey the life of Christ.
