Sera will never admit to her crush. Not only is her coworker arrogant, annoying, and a monumental pain, he’s also—unfortunately—sexy as sin. Still, it takes every ounce of her willpower to deny her attraction to him, even to herself.
Charged with heading up an internal investigation of a harassment claim made against him, Sera must push her infatuation aside to uncover the truth. That becomes far more challenging when Harrison turns on the charm.
He’s great with her kids, not to mention being shockingly sweet and attentive. But is his interest genuine? Or, is the notorious playboy simply trying to sway the investigation?
Author Alie Garnett delivers a sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance sure to leave readers swooning in Falling for the Single Mom!
Alie Garnett loves a little spice in her books. She lives on a small hobby farm in northern Minnesota with her husband and two kids. When she isn't writing, she is doing everything that she didn't 'get to' while writing.
This is the first in what appears to be an ongoing series based around an unusual family of 7 women. Seraphine, or Sera as she prefers to be called, got pregnant at 19 and married an older man who wasn’t the father of her daughter. In exchange he got a wife to help him with his 5 daughters, which his ex-wife had abandoned. Then a few weeks after the wedding he disappeared to South America and was never seen again! A few years after his disappearance Sera had another daughter from a one night stand.
Sera is only a few years older than the eldest daughter so she has more of a supervisory friend relationship with her step daughters. They all live together in the big old house that her now ex-husband bought for his family. It’s a house filled with chaos, arguments and love.
Harrison is a lawyer who works at the same firm as Sera. He thinks she’s a prude, but a gorgeous one. They’ve worked together for 10 years and have never got along. Then Harrison’s PA makes a harassment claim against him and Sera as head of HR has to look into the allegations.
This is an incredibly weird set up for a romance novel but it strangely works. This author has a very vivid imagination and is clever about making all the strangeness hang together in a realistic and believable manner.
Harrison and Sera have a prickly but passionate start that grows deeply loving as time goes on and the author is good at helping you accept that change. Both characters have their flaws and the author doesn’t shy away from that. They also have redeeming qualities that help you forgive the flaws.
This is an interesting romance novel and I think I will try the next book, because I really like the Lovely girls.
At first I thought I would love this but as I continued reading this it started to get worse.
I thought she would be a single mom and not have anything related to Harry but NOOO. He was the father to two children and he knew nothing about it. She didn’t even tell him for a looong looong time. I would have been pissed if I was him😡
I loved the relationship between ALL the “children” but I did not like Sera so much😕 Harry was the one I liked in this book and also her children.
I absolutely loved this book! The characters were fun and unique and I loved the storyline.
So at first I was a bit confused by the family dynamic. It took me quite a while to sort through it all and get it straight because it's never laid out near the front of the book before all of the daughters were slowly introduced how they all fit together. I think that's the biggest criticism that I have. I would have enjoyed it more if I had gotten the family history before all the chaos.
But that being said, I couldn't put the book down. Yes, there were a few times where I had to roll my eyes because things just felt...odd, but overall it was a solid story. Each of the daughters had a distinct personality and you could feel that despite any arguments or disagreements, they all truly loved each other. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.

This book is about a single mother with 7 kids (7 kids in her life is an interesting story.) She works at the same place where her crush from her teenage is working and then their regular bicker turned into the love and they happily lived forever. . Easy story, easy vocabulary, nicely written book with punches of girls' talk. . About this book I loved the way author explains each and every character. I loved the romance and intimacy sequence. I loved the Harrison's case description. I loved the way how author described that he is the father. Tbh... I loved that part the most. I loved the part of Violet. . Some part of book were not so good while reading like introduction of her parents was not necessary. . . So overall book is good but can't say a must read. Your opinion can be completely different from mine. ... So keep reading

Serafina/Sera is the Director of HR at the law firm where Harrison works as a lawyer. They have a love/hate relationship where she secretly loves him and he loves to torment her with his constant flirting with any single young or old. What he does not know is she has raised five step-daughters on her own when her older husband deserted her and she has two daughters of her own by him once when they were in college and once at the firm's Christmas Party where they were both drunk. Loved the family dynamic with Sera and her girls who all are grown except for her two and when Harrison gets to know the real Sera he falls head over heals for her and his two girls he never knew about and always thought he could never have children of his own. This was a little confusing at first with all the girls but I soon caught on and loved this book.
Sera is a single mom to seven girls! Only two of them are her’s, the others are her step daughters that her ex left for her to raise! She works at a law office in the HR department. She is tasked with having a talk with gorgeous lawyer Harrison who is rumored to be messing around with his assistant! Only thing is she has been in love with him for years! Harrison is upset when he is pulled into Sera office, he didn’t do anything with his assistant. He starts spending time with Sera and realizes that he is falling for her! Only she has a secret she has been keeping from him! Will he forgive her? Can they find their happily ever after? Great book that I would highly recommend!

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Sera works in the HR department of a law firm. She is a single mom in a unique situation. Sera has also had a crush on Harrison for a while. She does not understand it or like it at times, but it is there. She has to do an investigation into allegations against Harrison. They are having to spend time together which leads to their attraction growing. Harrison is falling for her and her kids. Things are complicated though and they have some obstacles to get past. If they grab the chance, they can have a happy future together as a family

I might have given this 5 stars if it had started with a little clearer beginning. Oh heck, it's worth 5 stars. I really enjoyed this unique romance that had a little bit of everything going on in it. There's enough spice in the bedroom to heat a cup of tea, the characters, all of them, were highly developed and believable and remained true to themselves throughout the story. There are some fun bits, some sad bits, a little bit of angst, a very twisted plot, and a whole lot of love. You can't ask for more from a romance and I enjoyed the heck out of it. In fact, it felt a lot like reality!
I truly enjoyed reading this emotional roller coaster relationship story. I found this story to be interesting amd thrilling. I found Sera to be a strong, independent, and hard headed women with a heart of gold. Harrison is a strong man who makes mistakes, but admits to them. Harrison and Sera have a history that one does not fully understand, but they work on getting together to become a couple. Loved Sera's family, I can relate to that many females in one house. Highly recommended to read.
This was an interesting story with a bit more drama that I was anticipating. Mixed families, 7 daughters, and an alpha-hole at the office will do that though. In the beginning It was difficult to follow because I felt like the POV was switching without any notice. Stick with it though, you get used to it and the story is worth it!

Harrison and Sera Once I got into this book I was hooked... I feel in love with the lovely woman! They are so real and honest about things regardless of what it was and that they all stuck together; looking out for each other 😎💖 I was surprised that Harrison wasn't more angry with Sera once she came clean to him; even though you could understand her fears that were holding her back.

This was different from your usual “romance.” I loved all of the characters, the family, and the storyline. While I have never read anything by this author, as soon as I hit submit I am jumping over to Amazon to see what else she has written. Hopefully this is a series. I would love to see what happens to all the characters.
Okay, so that's a lot to unpack. Found family, light BDSM, second or third chance romance, and multiple trips from DSS I'm sure. I hated that there was no attempt to allow the kids to be kids. I get that age gap between step mother and eldest child is four years. But they ran buck wild, all of them including the momma. There were no boundaries.
So let's that with the family dynamics, it took a while before I could understand who was who. The storyline was catching with some obvious turns but well-written.

I never read her books before, but I'm glad I read this one , Now I'm a fan. This Book was Good. Love all the Characters in this book. Going to read another one next. Good Book
I do not like surprise pregnancy or kid tropes at all so was a little let down to know this is how this one gets going. But overall really loved the book and story. Loved all the lovely ladies. I will definitely be continuing this series.

Interesting family dynamics as well as characters, but it all works so well together. I absolutely loved this book and definitely would recommend this read!
Rarely write reviewsbut this was so damn lovely, I had to. Great characters so much so a seriescould be done with a book for each daughter. At least I hope so!
In the beginning it was hard for me to get into the story, I don't know if it was the writing style but I push my way through to read Sera and Harrison's story. Alien garnett wrote a enemies to lovers, seconds chance in a way book. Sera is the true definition of independent woman and the girls were funny. A good plot and worth 5 stars in my opinion.

This is a romance book with a lot of interesting characters and a lot of family dynamic that took me a while to understand. I am glad I decided to stick it after almost discarding it!
This is the first in an ongoing series based on a family of 7 unusual women. The author has an incredible vivid imagination, and this makes for a interesting romance.
