wow I get to write the first review!!! well I’ll start by saying, I recommend you get this book from Peow - they are my favorite indie comic publisher. I am a fan of Mathilde Kitteh’s work so I wanted to support and get this comic book.

I appreciate the message, I think Kitteh was able to talk about appearances in a way that made sense to the story. Visually the differences in the character were depicted from ugly to cute or handsome. The story was silly enough to carry me through Ken feeling so ugly he felt unworthy.

The story is unconventional, without any spoilers, the story structure is not typical. Which is why I gave it 4/5. However with all the unconventionalities it creates opportunity for unique dialogue and world building I find interesting.

A heartwarming and comedic tale about recognizing your faults, and what happens when allowing yourself to succumb to self doubt. Great illustrations, some fantastically paneled sequences. I really loved these characters. Shout out Ken, A-Chan, Fabian, and Daddy.

Thanks to Mathilde Kitteh for a wonderful story.

A sweet as sugar one off manga inspired graphic novel. "Brush Paradise" starts as this silly urban fantasy about a team of salesmen at a Brush company. It slowly grows into a satire on capatalism and beauty standards (and how the two feed into eachother viciously). You have no way of predicting where this book is going, and that's the largest part of its charm. It might feel simple and light, but it keeps you on your toes with themes and character arcs and... is that an Akira reference?!?

I picked up this book because the cover was so cute (still is). If I'm being honest the story was super hard to follow, the scenes keep jumping with no continuity and not enough context to understand what is happening (for example after his first "transformation" the topic is not really touched on until the end of the story where the climax happens) While the art style is super cute, had a hard time following the writing, character motivations and overall storyline.

i am not familiar with this artist, but i really enjoyed the style and how the story was told.

it was told in such an unconventional way that sometimes i didn't really know what was going on until like a few pages later when things started to make more sense. it was actually pretty funny and entertaining.

books that peow publishes are always going to be some of my favorites.

I love indie comics like this. It's a strange story following a brush salesman, that devolves into a sci-fi comic that critiques capitalism. It's not an easy thing to recommend. I can understand people not liking this one. I just love the style in this one, it's a great comic.
