Who needs a creative thought when you can just repackage nursery rhymes and give them cute illustrations? Hey, it worked for Eric Carle!
Moral: Spiders and lambs and cats with fiddles can teach lessons or entertain.
Length: The book flies by, especially when Mavis flips pages to her favorite nursery rhymes. For instance she spares me the old woman and the shoe on most occasions.
Favorite Line: “Hey diddle, diddle.”
Overall Impression: I would usually give something this bland one star and move on, but illustrator Sanja Rescek has developed some warm, calming art to coincide with each nursery rhyme. I applaud this effort because other publishers’ cash grabs designed in this style are over stimulating and borderline offensive.
