A wonderful second chance romance about Will and Anna. Loved their romance. They dated when they were younger and because Anna thought she was holding Will back from dreams, she let him go. Fast forward and he is back in town after his personal life hit a snag. The chemistry and attraction between them was so intense. It was still there even after all this time. Their story will pull you in from page one and won’t let you go until the very last page. You will be so invested in their story. Wonderful read and a wonderful storyline. Highly recommend this read.
It’s been over a decade since Will left his small town to pursue his Hollywood dreams. Professionally his career as a producer has exceeded his expectations but the same can’t be said for his personal life. When his life explodes around him, he returns to his hometown to spend some time with his sister until the media frenzy dies down which also brings the Anna back into his life.
As teenagers Anna fell in love with Will however, he dreamed of Hollywood while she had her roots firmly planted in their hometown. She thought she made the best decision for both of them when she ended their relationship but now that he is back in town the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever. Will this be their second chance or are their different lifestyles too much to overcome?
Will and Anna take us on an emotional ride as destiny can be delayed but not denied.
You'll fall in love with Anna and Will is this small town second chance romance. They were teenage sweethearts but she let him go to chase his dreams. He captured his dreams of becoming a billionaire producer only to be humiliated publicly by his cheating fiance. He's back in his home town and offers her a deal to be his face fiance which she accepts. They are so cute together and their chemistry is strong. Weston has done a wonderful job of developing these characters and weaving their beautiful second chance love story. The book was a quick read that was hard to put down once I began. You'll enjoy this book. I read an advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
Once childhood sweethearts , Will now needs Anna's help. The author brings strong characters and fills the story with tons of drama in this second chance romance. He does a great job developing the relationship and paints his scenes perfectly. He brings tons of emotion in this story and moves it fluidly. I was hooked from start to finish. I loved and would highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I enjoyed this book because it had a hometown feel with history and roots for the main characters. Anna is a strong woman who loves with her entire being and I really enjoyed her. Will seemed pretty wishy washy and weak and I wish his character had been more dynamic and concise. Overall it was an enjoyable story. This is my voluntary review after reading a free advanced copy.
Where to start..... I couldn’t put this book down. But that seems to be the case with every book of Weston’s, his sister Ali’s and his niece Chloe. Anywho this story had all the feels and had me balling like a baby at one point. Such an incredible love story
William and Anna were everything! I absolutely loved everything about these two! I loved seeing how they reconnected after all the time apart. These two were definitely meant to be! I’m so happy that they got their happily ever after! ❤️❤️❤️
Totally awesome read that I couldn’t put down. Well written storyline with exciting twists throughout. Awesome characters who were likeable and relatable. A must read book!!
William & Anna’s Angst-Filled Story Hits You In The Gut Early On! Prepare For A Few Tears. Their Second Chance Small Town Romance Addresses Issues About Living In The Hollywood Bubble And The Celebrity Lifestyle. Life On Mackinac Island Is A Stark Contrast To Life In LA, And Twelve Years Away From Home Change The Hollywood Bad Boy Producer.
William Kent, thirty-one, is a Hollywood bad boy and tabloid favorite. His celebrity was cemented when he signed onto Netflix and became a hotshot producer. While it is usually actors that are thrust into the limelight, his good looks, broody demeanor, and millionaire status probably had something to do with it. He made his way to LA when he was just nineteen, fulfilling his lifelong goal. He hails from Mackinac Island, Michigan, a place that was never big enough for his magnetic personality and ambition. Located in Lake Huron, the touristy resort island is roughly four square miles. It is a place where the full-time residents – just under five hundred – all know one another. With no cars, residents and visitors get around via classic modes of transportation: on foot, horses-drawn carriage, or bikes in the summer months. Snow mobiles are used during the winter. With a school population of under one hundred, the K-12 experience is a little unique. He grew up with close friends. His sister Jessie, one grade behind, ended up being part of his friend group, along with her best friend Anna. The day he Will first saw Anna – on his first day of second grade – he knew he liked her. Their friendship eventually turned into more. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for Anna, that is until she broke his heart and left him reeling.
Upon his arrival in LA, Will made some good friends and indulged in his newfound freedom. He lived a playboy lifestyle, jet-setting and partying with his friends and an endless string of women. His more wholesome roots are now history. He is admittedly a jerk, but he makes no promises to women. He was never the cheating type. It took until working on a Netflix series about two and a half years ago until he finally found a woman that he could envision having a relationship with. Angelina Cross rocketed to stardom in that series, and together they are a Hollywood powerhouse. Today she is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her carefully honed look is sexy and alluring, and William is happier than ever. It has been twelve years since he left Mackinac, and he has grown the millions from his trust fund and the inheritance he received four years ago into billions.
William doesn’t visit his hometown, though he should. His sister Jessie is his only remaining relative. She lives on the family’s estate on Mackinac. Though they share it in title, he doesn’t need or want the property and has not been back since the funeral for their father four years ago. They do keep in touch, though, and he is proud of all the work she did to convert their childhood home into a B&B. In Hollywood he has many friends and acquaintances, but the town is full of politics and positioning. His sister Jessie and his best friend Dave, whom William met right off the bat when he arrived in LA, are the only people that really know him. Jessie and Dave may question his decision to propose three months ago, but William is certain of his decision and the media is in love with the pair. He and Angelina have much in common. They both love the spotlight and living the highlife, her looks easily keep his attention, and they have grown comfortable with one another over time. He cannot imagine life without her.
Anna Holland, thirty, doesn’t regret her choices. Her mother had walked out when she was small, so she is very close with her father. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for him, which had made the hardest decision in her life just a little easier. She and Will had made promises to one another in their youth without taking into consideration the reality that would confront them later. They had different goals, and though Will would be willing to sacrifice anything for her, she would never choose to hold him back from his big dreams. Anna has a quirky personality, but she isn’t comfortable with change. She loves living on her island home near her father. Sharing Mackinac’s history with tourists and making their stays enjoyable give her satisfaction. And though things had not looked good for a while, her father has been cancer free for years now. She still pinches pennies from her meager earnings at the Tourist Center to help pay down the monstrous debt they incurred in his medical care, but every day spent with him is worth it. She wakes up each day to routine, something she learned to do years ago to keep her frame of mind positive. She lives a quiet life outside of work, but she still has her lifetime best friend Jessie in her life. Jessie hopes to get Anna to agree to come to work for her, but Anna has too much pride to accept handouts. Between Jessie and her father, Anna’s life is good. She is open to having a man in her life, but hasn’t found anyone she is interested in dating for some time.
When William leaves LA behind to get some time away from the Hollywood bubble and the press, his first thought is to return home and visit his sister Jessie. Seeing Anna again brings back a lifetime of memories that he had buried deep, and he finds himself feeling almost like no time had passed between the two. They hadn’t seen one another but for a minute six years ago in all the time since she broke his heart and he left home. He is strangely satisfied to see that she still is not married and wonders whatever became of the man she left him for. Anna is surprised at William’s sudden appearance on the island and more than a little uncomfortable. Soon, however, the familiar comfort returns. But Will is not the same man that left the island, the man who stole her heart. It took her years to get over losing him, and she isn’t sure her heart would survive it a second time around. William is only visiting for a few weeks, after which he will return to his beach house and his life in LA. Anna nevertheless finds herself agreeing to spend some time with her first love, convincing herself the entire time that she won’t fall for him again. The couple eventually earns a happy ending.
William and Anna’s angst-filled story hits you in the gut early on. I honestly was not sure I wanted to keep reading, it was that unsettling. To begin with, their lifestyles and goals are diametrically opposed to one another. William also happens to be head over heals in love with Angelina. But moreover, the sacrifices that Anna made and the stagnant life she has lived are hard to swallow in light of Will’s galivanting. Their hometown isn’t just tiny, it is secluded. It is difficult to imagine that he never demanded more information about Anna from his sister, nor that Jessie didn’t offer it. With Anna’s father cancer-free for years now, Jessie might have at least given Will some hints. There is no mention of his childhood friends, either. Even if they lost touch eventually, they would likely have had some knowledge of Anna’s life in the early period after Will’s departure and shared it in passing. Nevertheless, the gut-wrenching feeling reels the reader into the story in hopes of a happy ending. Eventually I became very invested in the story, and indeed the characters and their story connected with me.
Fair warning. At around 73% through, William’s character begins to go off track rather unexpectedly. It feels a bit like he steps into an alternate reality. He says he has wanted something that he never indicated before (though he was admittedly confused, he had actually stated the opposite). He is a complete jerk but also a coward. He loses all control, which is uncharacteristic of him. It is really hard to read and you might find yourself yelling at him (in your head, of course). At that point I was rather upset because it seemed impossible to believe there could be a happy ending given his sudden shift, or whether he could still be seen as a good catch. It does work out in the end. There are explanations that help, though it remains that Will’s character is weakened considerably.
William and Anna’s second chance small town romance addresses issues about living in the Hollywood bubble and the celebrity lifestyle. Prepare for a few tears. Life on Mackinac Island is a stark contrast to life in LA, and twelve years away from home change the Hollywood bad boy producer. Coming home and seeing his first love proves to be an eye-opening experience. The story is plot driven. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between William and Anna. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mixed feelings about William. . .who went mute and forgot to stick up for Anna.
Much of the storyline was predictable, as was the witchy, cheating ex who refuses to hear the word "no" or that she and William aren't engaged, much less getting married, ever. What had me losing affection and trust in Will was him losing the ability to think fast and speak, especially when he knew he had no feelings for Angelina, and that he did feel everything he used to feel for Anna again, when Angelina pays a surprise visit to him and Anna, and she not only insults Anna, but puts on a convincing "together" act for the press while he stayed by her side. Granted, he kept thinking about where Anna had gone, and how upset she was, without considering that his lack of denial in the face of Angelina's trash talk and lies were making things with Anna worse for him. Please - he's in the business, and should have been better witted in dealing with the paparazzi. Apologies, but that was just weak plotting and writing. Disappointing, considering Weston Parker's previous books and those bad boys' redeeming actions. This was certainly not one of his better stories. Two stars.
If you're looking for a well written, second chance, small town romance book with a guarantee happily ever after, a great storyline, likable characters, drama, twists, and plenty of steam, then 1-click The Billionaire's Second Chance by Weston Parker today.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Call me biased, but male romance authors keep proving me right—and this book did not help their case.
I’ll say it upfront: I usually avoid romance novels written by men because they tend to write women like creatures they’ve only heard rumors about. But the blurb intrigued me, and the dedication was sweet enough that I decided to take a chance.
Two pages in? Boom. Bias confirmed. The MMC is already making elitist comments about groupies and referring to women as “potential bites.” Sir, groupies exist because men encourage them. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
The writing style didn’t help. It’s scattered, contradictory, and desperately needed an editor. One page he’s laughing with a friend post-breakup, the next he hasn’t smiled in weeks. The pacing? Torturous. We’re 50 pages in—out of 284—and the leads haven't shared a single meaningful interaction. Why am I still waiting for the plot to start?
And then there’s the biggest ick of all: In true male-author fashion, the MMC Will is allowed to move on—rich, famous, engaged to the “sexiest woman alive”—while the FMC Anna is broke, struggling, and still hung up on her high school boyfriend. Really? In 2025, we’re still writing second-chance romances where the man gets a glamorous life and the woman… waits? No self-respecting romance author does this.
Her father’s pride-fueled feud with Will’s family was another masterclass in misplaced ego—and the book actually justifies it. Like, “He didn’t have money, but he had self-respect.” Girl, he had delusion. Thankfully he eventually admits he overreacted.
And Will—dear God. The man is a walking contradiction wrapped in arrogance. He doesn’t know what he wants, blunders through emotional landmines, and nearly marries another woman. The entire third-act breakup was a disaster class. Absolutely unforgivable for me.
BUT. Not everything was bad, and credit where it’s due:
Will was quietly protective of her from the moment they reconnected.
Their first fake date had that easy, nostalgic chemistry you want in a second-chance romance.
He took accountability for abandoning her during her lowest point, even though she had been the one to push him away.
Their adult reunion was surprisingly mature—no petty cold shoulders, just warmth after 12 years apart.
Anna herself was a breath of fresh air: grounded, steady, emotionally honest.
Despite their messy history, their friendship felt real—deep conversations, trust, genuine care. Even when it hurt (especially hearing about Will’s fiancée being “the one”), Anna handled it with grace.
There was a good story buried somewhere beneath all the contradictions and questionable choices. And the emotional beats—when they landed—landed well.
Final verdict: A messy execution with glimmers of genuine heart. Not terrible, not great, but definitely a ride. And once again, male romance authors have reminded me why I avoid them…but at least this time, I was entertained.
This is the story of William (Will) and Anna - friends since elementary school, that turned into a romance once they became teenagers. They have different goals once graduating from high school and Anna breaks his (and her) heart so that he will leave their home town (Mackinaw Island!!) and follow his dreams. He makes it big in Hollywood and wants for nothing. He's rich, engaged to be married and "living the life" - until he finds out his fiancée cheats on him and so he packs his bags and heads back to his home to regroup. Once there, he reconnects with his sister (Anna's best friend), his friends and, of course, Anna. Anna agrees to help him save his "image" and becomes his fake girlfriend. As they reconnect, they both realize and admit that their feelings for one another are not in the past. As they become closer, Anna wonders if a relationship with her first (and only) love would be possible now that they are adults. Their lives are as different as night and day and though it's something they both want, they are both afraid of being hurt and hurting the other person. The unexpected arrival of Will's fiancée, turns everything on it's ear and he ultimately heads back to Hollywood, leaving Anna with a broken heart, again. Anna must now pick up the pieces of her shattered heart again and Will is finally forced to realize that he is not in love with his fiancée and not happy with his current way of life. But, admitting it and doing something about it are two different things and he must figure out what is most important in his life. I thoroughly enjoyed this second-chance love story and recommend it to anyone who loves this type of story. As a born and raised Michigander, I also LOVE that Mackinaw Island plays such a starring role in this book.
When Will left Mackinac Island after graduating high school, his dream was to move to Hollywood and become a famous actor with the love of his life Anna. Life sometimes kicks you when you least expected. Anna dumped him for another guy. Will was devastated and angry and left to follow his dream. Anna lied to Will, there was no one else. She just felt she couldn’t leave her father behind to deal with his illness by himself.
Will did become a famous director and now is engaged to a beautiful and famous actress. When photos appear in the tabloids, showing his fiancé with another man, Will decides to breakup with her. It has been years since he visited his home town of Mackinac Island, but Will needs a break from Hollywood and everything it represents. His sister Jessie now runs a B & B on the island. When he sees Anna, old memories come back to him.
Anna currently works at the Tourism Center on the island. A job she loves, but not her employer, who is always threatening to fire her, only because Anna is the most requested employee at the center. When she runs into Will at her best friends Jessie’s B & B, Anna is shocked and left speechless. You see she’s never stopped loving him. As they get to know each other again, Jessie comes up with a plan, to keep the paparazzi away from Will. They will pretend to be together and eventually Will will propose to Anna. The only problem with this plan, Anna’s feeling are not pretend.
When his ex shows up to try to get him back, Anna can’t take it anymore and calls the ruse off. Being hurt by Will is all she can take. This is a HEA, and a beautiful one at that.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Billionaire’s Second Chance, another engaging story from Weston Parker. Will and Anna were close friends as children, then became high school sweethearts. Her family life become super complicated and she knows she never will leave their hometown, but at the same time recognizes that Will could accomplish big things out in the wider world. Anna tells a big lie to force an end to their relationship and devastates them both.
More than a decade later, although will has been tremendously successful in his career, his personal life is a mess and he is back in their hometown to try and stabilize himself. Anna agrees to a fake relationship scenario to help him with damage control about his image, but we all know how those fake relationships tend to work out. 😎 I thought the characters were extremely well-defined, and emotions were both authentic and palpable. And there were times I wanted to shake each of them in frustration, but they were really both very likable overall. This book will ‘hit you in the feels’ and it might be advisable to have a tissue handy.
Will’s sister Jamie and his best friend Dave are among the great secondary characters in this book, and they are practically screaming for a story of their own. Fingers crossed that Weston will be giving that to them … and to us. I have really enjoyed a lot of this author’s work, and I would say that this book is among his best.
When Will left his small home town, he also left behind the girl who had stolen his heart when he was in grade school. His heart was broken as Anna had lied and told him that she loved someone else so that he could fulfill his dreams about going to Hollywood and make 'it big'. Anna loved him more than life itself but her Dad was seriously ill and needed her. So Will succeeded in his dreams of being a producer and all the trappings and even the 'perfect' girlfriend...who cheated on him. So he's back home and he and his sister come up with a plan to help him and Anna who is broke. She's to pretend to be in love with him for the paparazzi . But not everything goes as planned and Will is reminded about who he really is and his priorities in life! What happens when his cheating girlfriend finds him? Weston Parker writes this so that you can 'hear' both Will's and Anna's musings so you get a much more interesting perspective than if you'd only heard Ann's. This best selling author knows how to create a fabulous storyline with amazing characters [I so wanted to slap a certain person] that I certainly felt as if the story was unfolding before my very eyes. I loved the ending and hope that we may eventually read about his sister's HEA? I received a reader's copy of this and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended. ENJOY!
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between Anna and William. William and Anna were high school sweethearts who broke up when William left their small town for Hollywood, where he is now a famous producer. When William learns his fiance was cheating on him, he decides to visit his sister at their family home. William is being painted as the bad guy and needs some good press, so his sister asks Anna, her best friend to pretend to get back together with William to fool the press. Anna agrees, but soon realizes she still loves William. William wanted to make his ex jealous, but he also wonders if he still has feelings for Anna. I liked this story. I think William needed to realize what he wanted and if he thought he could be happy and not worry about what everyone else thought. I think Anna was in love with William, but she also knew he would never return to live on the island. There were emotional parts of this book and i loved how all of the characters seemed to grow. Another good one from Weston.
Finding your soulmate the first day of first grade.
William and Anna met the first day of school and have been friends ever since. Anna is best friends with William’s sister, Jessie. Anna knows William dreams of making it big so she breaks up with him to force him to LA to pursue his dreams. She doesn’t see him for 12 years and she is positively heartbroken because she loved him so much and it hurts so bad. She not only broke her heart, but she broke his as well. When he catches his fiancée cheating on him he has to get away from it all and he returns home to his sister, Jessie. Anna is still everything he ever dreamed of and wanted. Angelina is just using William for his money and connections. This is such a beautifully told love story. Your first love can be your last love and you can fall in love in the first grade. Theirs is a forever after and forever more love story that will have your heart beating out of your chest. Such a great book.
Famous Hollywood producer Will’s fiancé is caught by the press cheating on him. Now it’s all over the news but she’s blaming him for everything. What? So, he goes back to his hometown to plan his next move. But home is the place where his first love still lives. She broke his heart, never letting him know why. Now his sister has a plan to help his career. But will his heart survive?
Twelve years ago Anna let Will go. She knew that he wouldn’t be happy in their little hometown and she needed to help her ill father. Now she’s content in her life, her father is well and she has a job that’s fulfilling – sort of. The only down side is that she and her father are deeply in debt because of his medical treatments. When Will’s sister, who is also Anna’s best friend, suggests Anna pretend to be Will’s fiancé, and they’d pay her, she accepts. But can she protect her heart this time?
This story was well written and easy to read. The main female character was a very strong individual who had a very giving heart. At a young age she was very clear of who she loved and where she wanted to spend her life. The main male character too fell in love at an early age and knew what he wanted to do with his life. Through actions taken without discussion with the other, major life decisions were enacted. From here followed very different lives led by each of them. I just could not get on board with the actions of the main male character but not saying it did not sound realistic. I think my perspective was tainted by his overt negative actions. Overall, as this story touts, second chances worked out. Situationally this story is believable, it was my heart that had a hard time with actions and outcomes of the two main characters.
This small town, second chance, best friend's sibling romance between Will and Anna was such a great read.
Anna and Will were together from the time they met as kids. When they turned 18, Anna left William so he could soar and make a better life for himself.
Twelve years later, Will returns home to clear his head from another relationship and they start to spend time together. These two have so much chemistry, it feels as though they never parted ways. They laugh and have fun together. The banter between them is easy!
When Will's reason for returning home appears will he forget all about Anna, or will the time spent together cause him to see clear?
THE BILLIONAIRE’S SECOND CHANCE By Weston Parker This is a sweet, light hearted, feel good, with amazing chemistry, second chance romance and best friend’s brother story. When William Kent was in second grade, Anna Holland was in first grade. They were best friends, then dating and in love. When life interferes and she breaks up with him, he leaves town heartbroken. 12 years later William is a Hollywood producer when his actress fiance is caught having an affair he tries to break up with her and she is in denial. He goes back home to stay at his sister’s B&B for a few weeks. He and Jessie think it would be great to have Anna pretend to be his girl. Hopefully some pictures will have the fiance realize he is serious. Can they not merge the lines? Read and see! Weston Parker is one awesome author! He consistently has great books. This is a 5 star read.
Wow Weston Parker has created such a captivating and emotional rollercoaster that readers will relate to. Anna and Will’s story is one of heartache, redemption, forgiveness, secrets, fear, loss of self, friendship, and love. Although life and circumstance separated this wonderful couple for over a decade, fate steps in to give them a chance to repair the damage that was done. And even though there were times especially towards the end when I wanted to give William a swift kick in the pants, he redeemed himself, came to his senses, and made right his mistakes. This was a heartwarming story of second chances with well written characters with so much heart, chemistry, and who were so comfortable with each other. I absolutely loved The Billionaire’s Second Chance by Weston Parker. I can’t wait for more from Weston Parker. “I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this novel.”
Great second chance romance by an amazin author! Anna & William were high school sweethearts, until she sends him away by telling him the biggest lie, so he'll go pursue his dream in L.A. Now, he's a big shot producer about to marry a current "it" girl; she stayed home doing what she loves: promoting tourism for her hometown.
I really liked this book: it has a gripping and emotional storyline, solid characters ( I growled at Will a couple of times, and even wanted to strangle Angelina.
Mister Weston did a wonderful job describing his characters complex emotions and situations. The story kept me engrossed from start to finish.
I enjoyed it and do recommend it !
I received an ARC from the author and I'm reviewing it honestly.

A lovely second chance best friend’s brother romance
Anna, a tourism center employee, and Will, a Hollywood producer, have know each other since she was in first grade and agree to a fake relationship when he comes home after his fiancée cheated on him. As the story progresses the air is partially cleared about their past, some soul searching is done by both of them, and just when everything starts to get real his present could blow everything apart. Weston parker’s The Billionaire’s Second Chance is a lovely second chance best friend’s brother romance with ups and downs and all-arounds. I would love to read more about Dave and Jessie finding something together.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
If there is a romance to start this year off right it is "The Billionaire's Second Chance", William and Anna give you all the feels along with some drama that will have you questioning what in the world is William thinking! There are so many emotions I experienced while reading this book, frustration, anger, sadness, hope, happiness and more. I could not stop reading so be prepared for an all nighter but its so worth it. I can only hope there will be a book for William's sister, Jessie and his best friend, Dave, please let there be a book for them!!! If you love a great love affair that starts from a very young age but faces some huge bumps along the way then you don't want to miss out on this beautiful steamy romance
Second chances are my catnip. Anybody who knows me, knows this. Add a small-town setting and Hollywood drama, and I’m happier than a cat presented with a whole garden of the good stuff. Once upon a time, Anna and Will had the fairy tale. But then life happened and stole it away. Now, William’s back in their hometown licking his wounds after very publicly discovering his fiancé’s infidelity. Have these two recovered from that long-ago heartbreak or are all those old feelings still alive and well? I loved this pair together. They’re sweet and sassy and their chemistry is off the charts. I’m hoping that there might also be stories in the future for the best friends. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
