Another good Greenland setting Missing Persons mystery. The case was more criminal than the earlier ones. Not many suspects were provided so it was quite easy to solve. It was a cold case (no pun intended). From the sound of things, Greenlanders have more boat licenses than drivers licenses. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of road infrastructure.

Petra Jensen (Piitalaat) was interested in finding Venus Manumina after she was told she was missing by Kiiki, who was in an old person's home in Nuuk. Atii, Luui, Tuukula were there for Petra when she needed them. Sergeant Duneq went to help when Petra was taken down by Innaaq Paniula but shot by Tornginnguaq. It was an old story of a Paniula that was a womanizer and killed Venus and his son trying to save his reputation. This tale that Chris made up could be the real thing when an officer got people to help in his story. It brings up how afraid people can be when an officer controls how things are made up. I liked the story and give Chris his "Magic" with Luui it is always refreshing.

she’s a policewoman?

Petra is pretty dumb. When heading out to a remote Greenland island, she leaves her gun behind, doesn’t charge her phone, doesn’t even bring a hat when is below zero… thankfully this is a short novella.

Springtime in Nuuk .
An old woman in a residential home with just an old scrapbook full of photographs and notes ..who has always wandered what happened to her friend Venus , who vanished without trace .Constable Petra Jensen , impulsive, patient and kind who loves to go by her instincts, is having to plea bargain with the Commissioner, agreeing to give a presentation...whilst looking into the case in her own time .Sergeant Duneq is furious with her once again ...but Petra sets off on her journey regardless..Venus had been beautiful, she had always wanted to be a model ..and had even been approached by Vogue. When Petra realizes she will need a boat - she is surprised when Innaq ,a policeman insists on accompanying her, along with Torniquaq who owns the boat ..It's to Ilua, a sheepfarm ..and a remote farmhouse, where Petra will go to find the answers she seeks .But Tuukula had warned her to be aware before she left..and Petra has no idea what awaits her in Ilua..Can she keep a silent promise to an old woman with a wandering mind ? And will she find out what happened to Venus ? I absolutely loved this story, and have already preordered the next in the series ..The Artic in all its beauty, and the storytelling reeled me in .Petra's journey and the Greenlandics cast a spell on you ..Stunning

The Winter Trap

I am not entirely sure whether it is the way Christoffer Petersen weaves a story, the Greenlandic characters or the uniqueness of the settings in Greenland - most likely a combination of the three - but there has not been a book of his I have not thoroughly enjoyed, including this one. The only drawback is that I read and finish them on the day they are released and then must settle in to wait for the next one.

I really like these short novellas featuring Petra and her usual cast of characters, with a few new ones thrown in each time. This one involves a 40 year missing person, Venus, who disappeared in Greenland. An elderly woman living in a care facility has been worrying about her ever since. Petra visits the sheep farm where she was last seen and immediately finds herself in trouble. Petra ends up with broken fingers and a broken nose, but solves the mystery.

Another Excellent Mystery

I've read all the preceding Greenland Missing Person novellas and really enjoyed them just as I enjoyed this one. I can highly recommend the entire series of mysteries by Christoffer Petersen but to truly enjoy them the reader should start with the first in the series and then I'm confident the reader will want to read them all.

Constable Petra ends up investigating a 40 year old missing person case on her own time, and has to travel to a sheep farm in Southern Greenland.  This installment is a bit darker than the previous 4 novellas.  I love how Petersen has Petra discover something about herself and grow in almost each novella.  This one was pretty entertaining and rather fast paced.

Fantastic

The fact that such an excellent story is delivered as a short story amazes me, because they don’t feel short. The characters are wonderful. I’m always surprised that I’ve reached the end so quickly. Can’t wait for the next one.

Short and Sharp

The Winter Trap is short, sharp and to the point. Petra Jensen has a knack of getting into trouble with her Sargent and a whole heap of strife along the way. Stirring up a hornets nest, seems to be her method of getting the case solved.

An exciting one!

The characters deepen and the plot is suspenseful and exciting. I am hooked on this series. And Peterson's writing is so beautifully evocative.
