Families will love this exquisitely designed and beautifully illustrated keepsake, created to help them focus on the real meaning of Christmas. There are 25 pages--one for each day of Advent--that feature a door that actually opens. And behind each door is an appropriate picture and a part of the Christmas story with simple text that even the youngest can understand. With a new cover, this popular book is now an even more attractive complement to any family's Advent observance. With its fine artistry and fresh approach, it's sure to become a centerpiece of the holiday tradition in many households.
We got this book 17 years ago for the Christmas we got married. We have reread this book by opening a new door each day of December until Christmas every year since. Our kids love it and wait excitedly for the next door each night.
So fun! An Heirloom book - simple, beautiful illustrations behind every door with small scripture passages telling the story of Christ’s birth. Our girls loved opening a door every day. A simple way to remember Christ’s first coming with kids.
This Advent book has gorgeous illustrations and features a different style door to open each day. I love the tie in to opening of doors as we also opened our chocolate advent calendars. It only has short scriptures each day but it still felt meaningful. We've enjoyed re-doing it over the years.
Reading this book is one of our favorite holiday traditions. It is a stunning book with beautiful artwork. My kids have fun looking for the animal and Christmas decoration hidden on each door. I can only give it four stars, though, because the text (the Christmas story from Luke 2) changes translations frequently. One page may have the KJV (which I have memorized), but then the next page switches to NAS. Makes reading aloud difficult.
This is one of our family's most treasured books. We read it every Christmas season and my boys love the beautiful detail in the illustrations, the hidden animals, the numbers, opening the doors and of course, the story itself. It is such a special tradition to use this book in our home. This past Christmas was the first year our oldest son was able to read it to us by himself. This book is an investment but worth every penny.
