Forever You #4

Campus King

Rate this book
Colin West: Football superstar. Campus legend. My first kiss.
My first everything, actually.
And the first man I grew to hate.
And now, thanks to a last second housing switch…
My roommate for senior year of college.

When a surprise leaves me without an apartment senior year, I’m forced to look for a new housing situation.
Luckily one comes up that’s affordable, in a perfect location.
The catch?
It’s in the jock house.
Yeah, there’s me, a girl, and three guys on the football team.

The second catch?
One of those guys is Colin West.
We didn’t exactly have a happy parting of ways.
Now he wants me back, but being with a guy like him is the last thing on my mind this year.

I never thought I’d see a man like Colin fall so hard for someone.
And I certainly never thought that someone would be me.

I’ve just got to decide if the Campus King is for real, or if he just wants what he can’t have.

Okay, so I just barely finished this. After reading the prologue, I thought it would be a steamy sports love story - my weakness since I love sports. I was wrong and it was disappointing because I wanted to love it.

So a college girl named Charlotte gets dumped on the day she is moving in with her serious bf. Sad yes. But it was odd, because her actions didn't show that she was sad about it, just more mad that she had no where else to live and had to go back home to Mom and big brother. 🤷‍♀️
So, by a recommendation from brother, she moves in with 3 college football players: introducing the nice one, the player and the secret ex from her old high school.
All is well and good for a bit (although she seems kinda spoiled and it's a little annoying how her roommates have to respect her boundaries, but she is somewhat rude to them).

Anyways, the secret ex ends up being the popular guy from high school who was her first kiss and everything else before he "ghosted" her. *the award for most overused word in this story goes to ghost/ghosted. A whopping 24 times! Sweet baby Jesus- find a new word!*

Speaking of him ghosting *shudder* her 4 years ago, that seems to be the theme for about 75% of the book. They kiss once and he finishes her off once by the half-way mark in the book. Sigh - what a letdown. And let's just say, that isn't angst, it's annoying and dramatic for no reason. One minute she is into him, but then she is accepting flowers from her ex (when he gets his head out of his you-know-what and wants her back) and leading him on. You don't tell someone you need space and continue to take gifts from them. There is a word for women like that...
You get a little bit of a back story about Collin (main guy), but there isn't much to him other than problems with his mom and all women thinking he is hot. By time any extra details are given about his past, I didn't care anymore. He is cold and there's nothing of substance there. He definitely has the flirting stuff down, but isn't book boyfriend material.
The rest of the book, I skimmed through and wished there was more to this story. Both characters are one dimensional and blah. Just barely finished it.

I loved loved loved Mickey Miller’s newest book, Campus King. Yes it is a Sports Romance, but it Has Mickey’s signature writing where it comes out to be so much more! You get second chance romance, steam level that makes you blush, then you get the sass from our beloved characters and it all comes together!

Colin was a mystery at first. Behind the scenes kind of guy. You get B.B. (Charlotte) side of her story. But when these two are around each other there is so much Chemistry!! I can’t get over it. The side characters also made this story click!

Campus King is how you want to bring in 2021 right! Mickey Miller does it again and will bring you the good and the dirty! I freakin’ loved it all!! #NEWBOOKREC2021

Touchdown 🏈 Mickey Miller on another spectacular read!! 👏 I just devoured this book. The angst was off the charts and you get that emotional depth and vulnerability that we have come to know and love from these characters in the Greene state world. We get to revisit some old friends and also meet new ones. The constant push and pull of their relationship just keeps the story flowing and the tension building. Colin is extremely confident and cocky so you fall in love with that first and then you get to know him a little more and you will fall so much more in love. Campus King just had such a comfortability and familiarity to it. So wonderful and so relatable. If I had to sum this book in one short phrase I would say it gives you that feeling of coming home. Like you know you’re right where you need to be at that exact moment. Colin and Charlotte’s story will take your breath away. 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for this “domcom” romance.

Why I am rating this book with just one star? Well, mostly because I hated Charlotte. I also didn't like Colin. Both characters were totally self-absorbed and rather plain.
Finally, I didn't like the plot, it was boring and slow. So much so, that right now I don't remember much of it.

Honestly, I think that this author simply isn't for me. It's not the first time I read a book by Mickey Miller, but it probably will be the last one, given that I haven't enjoyed any of his books.

Mickey Miller has the ability to let his readers experience the journey of his characters right along with them. In Campus King, the fourth book in the Forever You series, you get a well written second chance sports romance filled with heartache, humor, sassy banter, angst, off-the-charts sizzling chemistry, miscommunications, forgiveness, emotional turmoil, and it all wraps up with a happily ever after.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

What happens when you go for a second chance and blow it... well you better hope you get a third chance. This forced proximity college sports romance is fourth in the standalone series Forever you. Set in the fictional Greene State University it charts what happens when you have a will but your plan isn’t as tight as your baller plays. You might be going to the NFL but you will do it alone if you don’t get your emotional act together. Will Colin and Charlotte finally get their miscommunication sorted out. It’s nearly a fumbled ball.

Two of my favorite tropes in one book – second chance and enemies to lovers. Loved being able to head back to Greene State. Charlotte and Colin had a very undeniable chemistry. It just radiated off the pages. Watching them try to live with each other after they shared a past was so much fun. Could they navigate this new territory and be friends or will this lead to something so much more? I know that when I pick up one of his books, I will be in for a wonderful treat. Mickey has a way of making you fall in love with his characters. Each book I read of his, I fall in love more and more with his work. I can’t wait to see what he has coming next. Highly recommend this book!

This book is amazing from start to finish! It is the fourth book in Mr. Miller’s Forever You series although it can be read as a stand alone. The story is centered around Greene State University and its students/sports teams. Charlotte is someone we know from the first few books and Colin is someone from her past. Mr. Miller brings them together in true Greene State fashion by making them roommates. Can men and women really be platonic friends? Can you really move past the hurt of an old breakup? The rest is true romance in the making! This story made me laugh and smile and I did not want to put it down. Mr. Miller delivers in his signature style as only he can.

Once again Mickey has written another must read sports romance..

I would have finished reading this in one sitting if not for my migraine that ive had for the last few days. From start to finish i loved every second of it. Mickey has a way of dragging you into the book and making you see it first hand. Ive loved all of his books and this was no different.

Charlotte and Colin's story is one of second chances. Colin was Charlottes first of many things but then he did something and she was left heartbroken and humiliated, years pass and college happens. When the unexpected happens and Charlotte needs somewhere to live she finds a house with three male housemates and finds out Colin is one of them. Lets say things have been left unsaid for to long. Once Colin sees Charlotte again he knows what he wants and he wants a second chance , but Charlotte cannot forget what he has done, and no matter what she feels she cant get over it. Their journey is not an easy one. Its a slow burn even though the sizzling chemistry with these two is off the chain hot. But no matter how much they fight it they want each other but one of them keeps pushing away and making it very hard. Can Charlotte eventually forgive and forget? Will Colin stuff it all up again? Will other forces keep them apart? well you have to read to find out. Cannot wait to see what Mickey writes next!!!

Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together...

Mickey Miller has found his niche with sports romance. This story is about Colin and Charlotte. Charlotte had plans to live with her boyfriend close to campus. Those plans blow up in her face when he changes his mind at the last second. He felt they were taking things too fast. She now needs to find a place to stay ASAP. She gets lucky and comes across a place, but it means living with 3 guys. Much to her shock Colin her high school crush is one of the guys. She was hot and heavy with Colin in high school but they parted ways on a bad note.

Colin takes this opportunity to win Charlotte back. But it won't be easy as Charlotte is still angry at him. Colin knows he can't blow this second chance. He does everything possible to get her back in his arms. The chemistry between them is still hot and steamy. Besides all the angst of these two, there is still a lot of humor in this story, especially with the secondary characters.

Mickey Miller has upped his game yet once again to deliver another golden story. Don't miss out on this one, you won't regret it...

Mickey has done it again his sports romances are a must read.

Charlotte and Colin's story is a second chance sports romance that will keep you wanting more. They have had a rocky relationship in high school he was lot of her firsts. To him she was just a girl he dated that he left heartbroken.

A few years down the road Charlotte finds herself ending a relationship her senior year of college. She finds herself in a situation with housing since she was supposed to be moving in with her now ex. She doesn't want to stay at home but with such short notice there isn't much of a choice or is there. There is an opportunity that will put Colin back into her everyday life is this something she can handle after the heartbreak?

This story has the push and pull that Mickey is so good at writing. The Green state crew is back in another steamy read. This read is a good page turner and will make you want more. This book has the chemistry that makes you blush a bit in the classic Mickey fashion.

Another fantastic Rom com sports romance that had all the right ingredients. Colin and Charlotte had a high school fling four years ago, then he ghosted her and now four years have passed and they find out that they will be roommates. A whole lot of tension, angst and unresolved feelings start to fester, and then there is the fact that Charlotte still doesn't trust Colin not to hurt her if she falls for him again.

I love the fact that Colin was cocky, yet still had a vulnerable side. He had good intentions, but just needed to do some growing up. Charlotte had just had her heart broken and was not looking for a rebound, she did not just want to be another notch on the popular jocks bedpost. Their chemistry even when they hated each other was still flirty and hot. This was a fun read that flies by and leaves you with a happy feeling when it's all over. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Charlotte was looking forward to her final year of college until she finds out that she and her boyfriend had different views on their relationship and now she needs to find alternate housing. She considered herself fortunate when she found a place to stay until she finds out that one of her roommates is the man who broke her heart in the past.

Colin regrets the way things ended. He knows that they are meant to be together and now he just needs to convince her that not only will he protect her heart but that he is not the same man who hurt her in the past.

The chemistry between them is stronger than ever, the interactions are humorous and even though they had their challenges there is no denying that they give each other exactly what they need.

I'm so thankful to be on Mickey arc team.

Colin West football superstar who has just recently changed colleges. Little did Charlotte know he will be going to her college. They haven't seen eachother since high-school.

Charlotte planned on living with her boyfriend. Unfortunately her plans have  changed right before school started again. I don't think Jacob was breaking up with her in the beginning. I actually think she overreacted.

Charlotte doesn't know whether she trusts Colin or is his he really a man whore like everyone says he is. Now her going back and forth has the storyline dragged for me a bit.

This book is a second chance at love. I do feel the book ended well. Just wished we heard of Colin getting his mother some therapy.

Once again Mickey Miller delivers a book that will have you glued to the pages. Colin and Charlotte have known each other since childhood had a high school relationship but then she was ghosted by him. Fast forward to college. Their paths cross again, the fire reignites but therevis trouble on the horizon. They are destined for each other but the road to happiness can be long.

I just love how the story builds up. It is nail biting at times because when you finally think everything will work out it doesn't. That's one aspect I live about Mickey Miller's books...you are guaranteed an amazing story. The slow burn, character development and storylines are amazing. Mickey Miller always delivers books we crave. Awesome read!

A steamy second chance sports romance taking place at Greene State University. Charlotte Hiller is a journalism student, whose sudden need of accommodation leads her to flat with three other students-all male! Unfortunately for Charlotte, her former high school boyfriend is one of the roommates. There's a lot of unresolved pain, confusion, and trust issues with Colin West-there's connection & passion, but he was careless with her heart. Colin has his own issues, and he's going to need more than a second chance to win this game! This book is complete page turning angst! Love seeing all the characters from the other Forever You books.

These books keep getting better and better. I absolutely love this story world and introduction to Colin West, hometown guy coming home for his final year at Greene State to play football.
Char is unlucky (or is she?)when she finds herself living in a jock home with three of them - one of them being the man who ghosted her after a summer fling.
How are these two going to deal with each other? Will it be with animosity or will things be different? Can Colin get past the wall that Charlotte has built?
This is a page turner that you won't want to put down. I absolutely loved it.

This second chance romance has everything - great characters with undeniable chemistry, laugh out loud banter, and heart felt dialog. Colin has earned his player reputation but he is is so much more than who everyone thinks he is. Charlotte is a bit gun shy after what she has been through but she is much stronger than she thinks. This book is a stand alone in the series and I loved seeing more of the gang from the earlier books.

Hoping there are more books to come with this crew.

Mickey has written another great book! I loved it! Colin and Charlotte’s second chance romance was fantastic! It kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next! I couldn’t put it down! Colin and Charlotte has amazing chemistry! Even though their past wasn’t the best, could they work together to get past it and make a future together? Campus King is a fantastic book you won’t want to miss!

Totally wanted to give this author another chance but ugh what did I just read?! The plot was a mess, the writing was a mess, just everything. What the hell was even going on. Sure you got the gist. They have a history. Apparently only kissed once but slept with each other and he ghosted her. Then in college, they're roommates. They're still into each other but to her hes manwhore, even though there was hardly any evidence. Then she's being an idiot, going back and forth between him and her ex and playing with both of their feelings 🙄. So freaking annoying.

The characters were one dimensional and just everything fell flat. They had no chemistry whatsoever and their interactions were kinda cringe really. They'll be talking seriously and then their "flirty banter" was forced and the dialogue was confusing as hell. Sometimes you couldn't even differentiate which character was talking. And then all the other nonsense characters, DJ, Grant, Alex, Maya. Wtf who cares. And everyone just gives terrible advice, I'd hate to be friends with these people. I'd hate to be friends with Charlotte. She's a shitty character and person. Couldn't say I cared for Colin much either. He keeps asking for advice on how to win her. All you gotta do is be freaking real and tell the truth and he can't do that. Literally everything he says to win her is something sexual. Gag me with a freaking spoon. This is terrible romance. Yeah cause telling a girl you want her because she's fun is a sure fire way to win her heart. I can't. I just can't with this book. Wtaf.

Ugh and she's the reason why he passed on the draft and it doesn't even get used to the full effect. This could've been so much better if all the elements in the story were written differently. The angle with his moms addiction could've been used to soften up Colin's character better. But the author only scratched the surface on that, same goes for Charlotte and her dad ditching them. Then there's apparently this huge history between the two of them but it doesn't even show because the characters would rather forget about it. Well no, its quite important in character and relationship development and it should've been fleshed out even more. I'm just incredibly pissed that I stayed up to skim this book.

Not my favorite

I really really really wanted to love this one. It had so much potential. But it was poorly edited with multiple inconsistencies and type-o’s. Also, Charlotte struck me a wishy-washy and immature despite how hard Colin tried. Through the entire book there was so much “I give up” then “okay we’ll try again” then more of the same from both characters. It was hard to really get into the character’s heads. I’ll still check out more books by this author because he usually delivers a win—this one just wasn’t it.

Perfect Book to start the New Year

The story of Charlotte and Colin was amazing. It was the pull and tug of a relationship. It was able to tap into the inner doubts when in a relationship with the hottest, sexiest, rock hard football God. In Mickey fashion, I fell in love with this story and loved getting to share moments from past characters!

Is there anything worse than breaking up with your boyfriend two weeks before starting your last year of college? How about no longer having a place to live? Or then moving into a place that has only guys as roommates? For Charlotte, the last blow is knowing that one of her new roommates is a man she kissed in high school and so much more. Passionate. Outrageous. True Mickey Miller fashion.

Charlotte and Colin dated in high school until he broke her heart. Now in her last year of college ready to move in with her bf her heart gets broken again which leads her right back to Colin in the most unexpected way but this time they have different outcomes of what should be happening. Cute story and great banter

The plot was good but some things bothered me. I didn't like Colin ghosting Charlotte and then coming back wanting to start something again with her. And I got really annoyed with Charlotte because she didn't like him, then she liked him and again she didn't want to be with him, make up your mind! Anyway, I enjoyed it but I don't think I'll ever read it again.

Colin and Charlotte began a rocky relationship in high school.  He was her many firsts, she was a girl he dated.  Maybe neither were honest about what their feelings were.

Fast forward to senior year of college.  Charlotte breaks up with her boyfriend, needs a place to live, and finds herself within the reach of Colin...again.  Colin finds himself living with the one girl he can’t forget.  He’s facing possibilities that could change his future.  But Charlotte’s fears and Colin’s reputation pose problems. Can they overcome these obstacles or is this just a fling with an expiration date?

This was a really good book! I enjoyed Collin and Charlotte a lot and really enjoyed reading their story! However, I gave this book 4- stars because I felt it wasn’t the best enemies to lovers book and felt their could have been more angst between the two characters. I felt that Charlotte easily gave into Collin and didn’t fight back as hard as you’d expect from someone in her situation. But I did end up falling for these two just as much as I usually do for Mickey Miller’s characters so still a really good book!
