Running is fun and healthy… Unless you’re running for your life. Book shop owner, amateur sleuth, and chairperson extraordinaire, Alice McGuire, with the help of her close friends and neighboring business owners, Owen and Franny, is not only planning the Charles Dickens themed annual Christmas festival in their picturesque small town of Blue Valley, TN, an oasis nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, but her wedding as well. All is cheery and bright during their idyllic holiday season, until a participant in the annual Plum Pudding Run collapses, spurring a chain of events that threatens to derail the entire festival. The Holly and Ivy Maze is a popular feature of the town celebration with, fun and music by the Gothic Trolls, but when a body is discovered inside, Alice and her friends spring into action. The trio makes holiday visits to fellow business owners as part of their investigation, in an attempt to save Christmas for the townsfolk and tourists alike. Could the runner’s collapse somehow be related to the body found in the maze? Is there a serial killer taking the merry out of the season? Alice, at her wits end, is determined to find the killer or killers, and solve the mysteries in time to put on her wedding gown and walk down the aisle. Can she do it, before the killer strikes again? Find out in this delightful holiday Cozy Mystery! Don your gay apparel and join the sleuthing fun!
I love returning to Blue Valley and visiting with Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke. Ms. Cambert's descriptive writing made the Christmas festivities and the town come to life. The mystery was swiftly paced and their were plenty of twists that kept me guessing but I finally figured it out a chapter or two before the reveal. The wedding was the perfect ending to the story.
Oh, wow, I believe this was the best book in the series yet! Along with the murder mystery where Alice and her friends work hard to save another friend from being accused of murder, but it is less than a week until Luke and Alice’s wedding! I hope this series goes on for a long while.
This was such a sweet festive mystery topped off with an equally sweet wedding. It was finally Alice and Luke's turn to get married, but Alice was busy running around dealing with the Winter Festival and upcoming Christmas. Although she'd found the beauty of delegating, so at least she wasn't completely exhausted.
The friends were investigating the murder of a local shady character whose health supplements nearly caused a runner friend of theirs to die and most likely contributed to other deaths via his internet sales. I had a feeling early on who would benefit, but it was interesting seeing what all the other possibilities were. I got a kick out of the Holly and Ivy maze that had Owen so freaked out because of the three Christmas Carol ghosts in thee. Sometimes he really reminds me of Shaggy--all he needs is a Great Dane sidekick! Maybe Owen was on the right track fearing the maze, because the showdown took place in there.
I hope there are still a lot of great adventures in store for these friends, because it's always fun to go and virtually hang out with them.
Running is supposed to be healthy unless you turn up dead.
Festivities are in the air as Franny and Owen plan their wedding and the annual Dickens Christmas themed festival. A time to booster the town sales for the citizens and the Plum Pudding Race to be annual head.
But things soon become less than cherry when a body is found at the popular maze and then a runner soon collapses. Is this a coincidence or the work of a serial killer?
The gang will once again will come together to figure out the case.
The Rooftop Garden Cozy Mystery Series is top notch. It is well written, with great characters, believable plots (unlike some cozy series, and I'm not talking paranormal), and just a pleasure to read. Alice and her family and friends are smart, hard working, and love to hang out together. In each book, there's a murder, of course, and Alice, Franny and Owen work together to gather clues they share with Ben and Luke. The small town of Blue Valley is tight knit and vibrant. I love this series, and hope that there's a Book 11 in the works!
This series never disappoints and this most recent addition proves that. A sweet small town cozy with characters that are typical of small town friends. The storyline was fun and the mystery well plotted.
Alice is trying to plan final details for her coming wedding and keep the most recent town fair on track. Now the owner of the local pub comes to her for help proving his innocence in the latest town Murder.
Another enjoyable book in the series. Alice, Franny, and Owen are once again searching for clues to find a killer. There are multiple suspects and motives that kept me turning pages to find out whodunit. The characters in this series are likable and the police are competent(which is a big plus IMO.) Looking forward to the next book.
The book lovers of this series have been waiting for, Alice and Luke's wedding, but of course, before they say I Do, a murder has to be solved.
I absolutely love this series of cozy mysteries set in a quaint little town in Tennessee called Blue Valley. The group of friends help the local police department to solve murders which occur in their town.
The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series. A word of warning, once you've read one or two of these books, you'll find you need to read them all!
Another fine installment in this area. The book was fast-moving with the usual cast of zany characters and new quirky ones. There were lots of laugh out loud moments and a beautiful Christmas setting and of course a murder! Kept me guessing right to the end. Did I mention of beautiful ending?
This is book 10, but I feel like I missed one. All of a sudden Franny has a baby. I did figure out who dun it in this one and I usually don’t. This book culminates with Alice getting married. Please keep writing them!
I love this series and this new author! You would never know she is a new author her writing is so smooth and draws you right into the story!! I love Alice, Franny and Owen!! They make me laugh so much!! I can't wait for the next book!!
What a charming Christmas based cozy. The characters are interesting and the mystery is really unique. I plan to read more of this series and author. I loved the entire book.
I have been waiting so long for Alice and Luke's wedding. It as a perfect ending to a very interesting mystery. I was completely shocked when the killer was revealed. Looking forward to the next book.
Alice and the gang solve another mystery all before getting married. I love this series. I'm waiting to see what happens next. Maybe owen will find his happy ending.
This series and its characters have become one of my favorites. The stories are well written, fun, and make you want more. The ending to this one was beautiful.
Alice is ready for her dream wedding but things get crazy at the kick off of the festival. Can the gang find out what really happened so they can celebrate the big wedding.
Great story and well written. Love Alice and the gang and seeing how life moves on with them.
