Murder in the Mix #30

Raspberry Tart Terror

Rate this book
My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and so is my baby. It’s time for my birthing classes to begin but something earth-shattering has happened to someone I love most and I can’t seem to focus on anything else—that is until something goes very wrong at the Love Your Selfie Soiree thrown by Cormack and Cressida and someone ends up dead. Now I have two things to keep me up at night long before the baby ever arrives. Love is in the air and so is murder.

Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.

I feel so invested in these characters after 30 books. I hate the Everett is the one in trouble after everything they have all been through. I feel as though these characters should be family with the 4 of them, not because that's what people are thinking, but because she can't choose she loves them both equally and needs them. I love this series and often get lost in these books.

Enjoyed the story telling from the 3 main character's different pov's... However, some of the other character's are going beyond tedious and are heading towards cringe worthy like nails on a chalkboard.. I really liked the series and will stay with it til the little "sugar cookie" gets here but don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to stay with it.

It's almost Valentine's Day and Lottie Lemon finds her life is a mess. She has gotten both Noah and Everett in a bad situation that may cost them both their jobs. On top of that, her mother has found herself in a precarious position that is just so bizarre that it boggles my mind. The new murder causes Lottie to try and solve it quickly so she can begin sorting out the other messes in her life. It was told in Lottie's, Everett's and Noah's POV's, which was a nice change. I am unsure how this whole triangle is going to get sorted out. It seems to just get more complicated with each book. Hoping to see the end of it soon. It appears that Lottie has even more to be fearful of in the next book. Hopefully we get resolution to the paternity of the baby and how this love triangle is going to finally sort itself out. Hoping to see how Everett gets out of the mess he finds himself in.

Without totally ruining the book, lets just say that the victim would not immediately die from what killed them. This ruined the book, along with the outlandish antics of the main character that are getting old.

Ridiculousness

Each book gets more farfetched & ridiculous! You can have a good book without all the nonsense! The overeating, the stupidity of the characters, etc. does nothing for the book!
Cozy mysteries don't have to be stupid! Please, write a book with some substance!

A Rollicking Ride and a Preview of Trouble

Addison Moore’s Raspberry Tart Terror, Murder in the Mix book 30, serves up a corpse, a koala, a potential jail sentence, and an imminent “hatchlorette” party before (almost) everything is solved.
Lottie Lemon, professional baker and amateur sleuth, brings platters of raspberry tarts to her mother Miranda’s former B&B, which she’s sold to leeches Cormack and Cressida for a song, only to find they’ve renamed, redecorated, and ruined it with flashy hot pink everything. The Rondezvous Resort and Razzle Dazzle Day Spa seems to attract a perpetual crowd of young party animals who love the ghosts’ antics but won’t pay for a tour—to the chagrin of Miranda, now the housekeeper and only employee, and Lottie, who didn’t like the morbidity of the Last Thing They Ate tour but benefited from booming sales of the sweet treat found on or near the body.
The theft and DIY burial of Flo Canelli from book 29 comes back to bite Noah and Everett, especially Everett whose face was caught by the morgue camera. He takes the fall for Noah, who authorized the crimes,to make sure Lottie isn’t alone for her baby’s birth,
and rejects a plea deal that would put him away for 4 years rather than 15. He doesn’t want his child to be near kindergarten age when he’s released, and he still thinks of Noah as his brother, so he won’t let anyone else get near her.
In early February, at the Love Your Selfie Fest (a name only the leeches could invent), social media influencer Verity Prescott argues with several people, then collapses during a performance. She’s the murder victim, and her former pet koala, Teddy, appears in order to help Lottie (and Carlotta, who’s told gullible Teddy that she’s the primary detective and Lottie’s her sidekick) bring the killer to justice. Ironically, the judge in Lottie’s life has been suspended pending charges of stealing Flo’s body and burying it in Noah’s yard!
Defense attorney Fiona Dagmeyer, yet another woman who can “Essex” Everett, presents him with an offer of 4 years in prison instead of 15 if he’s found guilty. Everett refuses the plea deal, but he assumes he’ll go to prison for 15 years, miss most of the baby’s childhood, and waste Lottie’s remaining childbearing years, so he tells Fiona he wants to file divorce papers the day he’s found guilty. Then she’ll be free to create a new life with Noah, who he considers a brother after all this time.
On top of everything else, Everett hears from Jimmy Canelli, who threatens his life for desecrating his niece Flo’s resting place. It’s too much to expose Lottie and the baby to, so he keeps the threat from her.
Another series of threats comes to Evie—who took a selfie with Evie and said in the caption that when she died she’d “pass the mantle” to Evie. A few weeks and 6 million followers later, the threats (supposedly from Verity) begin: “Delete your account, dismiss your followers, and forget I told anyone anything. I know where you live and how to reach your mother and sibling-to-be.” Evie’s so scared she texts Everett, begging him to come home and not realizing that he’ll be mobbed by girls and women outside the house, waiting for #hotjudge, as Evie hashtagged him in a photo she accidentally took of him and Lottie in a compromising position (long story). Oddly, nobody’s mobbing #hotbaker! Anyhow, Everett and Noah pull whatever strings they can to figure out where the fake messages are originating. The source: the bookstore owned by a woman Verity argued with on her last night of life.
But the bookstore owner isn’t the killer, so it must be her ex-boyfriend, social media rival, or former coworker who told Verity she “wasn’t going to help her anymore.” The ex-boyfriend and rival are cleared, so it’s time to talk to the coworker, Juliet, who now runs a knitting shop on Main Street. She’s running a knitting workshop at the former B&B, so when Juliet steps outside for air, Lottie follows. You know what happens next: the denial, the pressure, the fear of going to jail, the fight (this time an attempted hit-and-run),the rescue and citizen’s arrest by Everett, the late arrival of Noah (who shows his driver’s license in lieu of the badge he turned in and an older gun he used in place of the one he had to surrender) and Ivy, and the confession, not only of murdering Verity but also of sending the threats to Evie “to help her avoid getting caught up in the fame that destroyed Verity.” Threatening a mother and her unborn child isn’t a good way to save a teenage girl from internet burnout, Everett points out. Ivy cuffs Juliet and takes her away, then Noah asks for a dance and Everett consents. While they’re dancing, Cormack waves a high school reunion invitation between them and says she’s RSVP’d for both of them—Lottie as Everett’s date and “Big Boss” Noah as hers! Noah repeatedly says he’s not going, but airhead Cormack, who’s “solved” the case by assuming it’s the person who said she’d kill to have hair like Verity’s, holds onto her delusions and tells them she’ll see the

Tart and tasty indeed...

Raspberry Tart Terror is the thirtieth book in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore and it's fantastic. Town baker Lottie Lemon is once again doomed to stumble upon the ghastly murder of one of her town's residents who just so happens to be sampling her desserts. Using her ever-evolving transmundane abilities with the help of a furry specter, Lottie and friends must hunt for a killer among the residents of Honey Hollow. Hopefully without provoking the murderer to turn their sights on our investigative town baker with a bun in the oven herself. Pregnant or not, Lottie can't keep her investigative curiosity in check.

Meanwhile, underneath the murder mystery remains the ongoing love triangle between Lottie, Everett and Noah with the added complication of their illegal recent activities having been discovered, prompting a possible jail sentence to hang over their heads. With the newest addition to their trio soon to be thrown into the mix, the pressure is turned sky-high on the threesome. Can they truly remain amicable for much longer?

While this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading at least a few of the previous books in the series. This book is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page and give you a few good laughs in between. I can't wait to see what this gang gets up to next and you can guarantee I'll be first in line to find out.

I received a copy of this book for the purpose of a review.

Raspberry Tart Terror is the twenty-ninth book in the Murder in the Mix Mystery series. This series stories builds on each other so I would suggest reading them in order to get the most out of it, but you could always read them as a stand alone if you wanted to and not be to lost, but this book I would advise that you read the Waffles at the Wake, as the story is carried over from it more than the rest of her books.
Lemon has a gift of seeing dead animal of those who will experience back luck soon, but lately deadly luck. Like all the books in this series, when Lottie sees a ghostly animal she knows death is soon to follow.
After Everett and Noah are arrested Everett decides that he will say it was all him, Noah had no part in the crime. Knowing that if they do get convicted he would rather have one of the free with Lottie than her having to take care of the baby once it arrives on her own since there is a lot going beside that. The inn that her mother loving created is now in the hands of new owners that are making major changes by the day and that is something that Lottie wants to find a way to change, but the new owners are having a valentines self love seminar with speakers, the place is packed but sparkling koala catches Lottie’s attention letting her know that there will be a murder she soon will be busy with. With everything that Lottie is busy with will she try to solve this new murder or will she just try to deal with everything that is actively going on to her and her loved ones?

Love the sequel for the most part, as I keep reading them!! The bit about not needing a crib for a year is preposterous! I put both my kids in a crib at birth! I never used a bassinet!! My daughter used a bassinet for 1 of her 4 children and only for 3 months. Kids go into toddler beds at 2! Lottie is weeks or so into having her baby and all
She concentrates on are murders! Seriously? She needs to prioritize, her family, her child should come first before any investigation!! Not every birth has Braxton Hicks contractions. I had them with 1 birth, my daughter had them with 1 birth. The story implies it’s a natural progression. I hope Everett’s defense works in his favor and they all learn a lesson not to let a ghost rule their choices it’s not like the ghost can be questioned! This day and age with ai and photo enhancements I thought they might have a programmer make it look like Everett wasn’t really at the coroner’s. Yet sleep walking is pretty slick defense if it pans out!

I love this series from Addison Moore. In this book, the three main characters have different points of view and each become individual chapters. While Lottie heads up most of the chapters,, the men in her life, Everett and Noah have several chapters each. It's interesting seeing their take on what happened in contrast to what Lottie thinks. In addition to a murder in the town, there were a number of great sub plots involving both of the guys, Everett's daughter Evie, and an unexpected visit from Nell's ghost. This will be a hard book to top but I'm anxiously awaiting the next one in the series. All of these books can be read as standalones but I really recommend that you read the entire series. You'll love it!

Social media can be to die for! Lottie Lemon has a lot on her plate with her hot judge husband in jail for stealing the body of Honey Hallow's last homicide victim and the arrival of her little sugar cookie in less than a month. She should be taking it easy but there is no rest in the cards for her when a very popular social media queen meets an early demise in her town and as luck would have it she happened to be eating one of Lotties famous deserts in her last moments. To make matters worse somehow her daughter Evie has gotten wrapped up with the dearly departed and her social media page. Now Lottie is all the more determined to unravel this mess, bring the killer to justice and protect her family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one!

When I found out that not only were we heading back to Honey Hollow, we get to do it with three points of view!

We have 8 month pregnant Lottie Lemon, a baker who sees the dearly departed, a hot judge, and a hot cop bring us all the tea in Honey Hollow. With freedom on the line, mixed with a Murder, a baby to plan for and a fuzzy koala from the other side life is certainly taking all of them for a ride. Can they find a way to save Everett, make it to birthing classes, and solve a murder before time runs out? You will have to get your own copy, what is the fun of me spoiling it all for you?
Addison once again has entrapped me in a fictional world making me wish it was just a car ride away. Now I’m torn between what to read next or wanting to bake up a storm. The struggle is real!

Lottie is dealing with Noah and Everett's legal issues due to the removal of the body. Lottie has Noah at home while Everett is not. Lottie also is asked to bring desserts to the mother's former B&B. Lottie is thrown by the changes that have been done and what is being hosted. Lottie is in attendance and her dessert when someone is murdered. Lottie also has concerns about Evie and her following and what is going on there.

There is a lot going on in this book, Lottie has to figure out who murdered the person, her mother's B&B, birthing class and what is going on with Noah and Everett. You will enjoy the story the author has written. I am wondering if the author is going to tie up the triangle with Everett and Noah or will it continue after the baby is born.

In Raspberry Tart Terror the 3 different points of view from Lottie, Everett, and Noah give us a look at the latest murder from multiple perspectives. This particular murder in Honey Hollow hits too close to home, and brings out the mama bear in Lottie. At 8 months pregnant, Lottie is about to start her birthing classes, and stressing that one of her loves may have to go away for a long time. Add a murder to her plate, contact from the great beyond affecting a family member, and Lottie's inner mama bear comes to the surface. It will take help from some ghostly friends, and Lottie's family and friends to help her solve this murder.

This book was nothing but a wild ride from the start to the finish. It's almost baby time for Lottie, there is an event at her Mom's old B&B that Cressida and Cormack have thrown. It happens to lead to a murder that Lottie feels as though she has to solve. She also has birthing classes to go to and a lot of other things she has going on in her life. It all leads to a chaotic life that keeps the book going from start to finish.

You can read this as a stand-alone book but I suggest you read these from book one to enjoy the series to the fullest.

I don’t know why I read these books. Well I do. I like the mystery and the main character and Everett and Noah

But the other characters

The bio mom the birth mom. The other women
If my friends, family and whatever the hell carmack and the Cressida are ever treated me the way they treat lottie, I would cut them out of my life so fast

Carmack and Cressida bought the B&B. Noah’s father is a tool, his mother is a B*tch. The birth mom is just a horrible horrible person.

But I keep reading because, like I said, the story is actually ok

Addison Moore's RASBERRY TART TERROR is a light murder mystery, #30 in her Murder in the Mix series. The characters are somewhat one dimensional and the storyline a bit contrived but if you are a long time fan of her novels, you will likely enjoy the lighthearted banter, double daddies, and unusual family connections. There's also a bit of paranormal included if you get bored! I cannot say I personally enjoyed this book as it is not my usual reading fare, but I am still very grateful for my first Goodreads book win. Thank you.

I love this series. The characters are always so fun and the mysteries are always intriguing. This story is no different. I love how the author has managed to bring a little something new to each addition without distracting from the original. I really enjoy every adventure I get to go in with the gang of Honey Hollow and I never feel disappointed after reading one of these books. I love all of the books of this series and I hope the author has plans for more.

t's that time of the year where Valentine's day is just around the corner, but also so is Lottie's baby. But a holiday filled with supposed love, doesn't mean it's safe from a murder. Seeing a sparkling koala lets her her, something is not far behind. With the things going on, she now have to bring the culprit to justice before anything else can happen.

Warning. Spoilers .

I like the mystery part of the story. This story also includes POV's of Everett and Noah , which I liked. Everette and Noah may lose their jobs because of Lottie. Lottie"s mother gets herself in a ridiculous problem. Everett does things which are out of character. I question several things characters did. Lottie may be in more danger than she realizes. I hope some things get straighten out in the next book.

Fun with emotion

While the murder mystery itself is enough to keep me reading this series, the story of the main characters is what keeps me reading these books. I always want to know what happens next.
