I could not get through this book. It reads like it was translated into English and needs a good editor.
The opening chapters describing the prevalence of ADHD in girls and African Americans are totally misleading. It makes it sound like a new phenomenon and an increasing one. We’ve finally realized symptoms present differently in girls and that we’ve increasingly stopped labeling African American boys as merely aggressive with impulse control issues and started realizing there may be underlying medical conditions leading to an increase in diagnoses of formerly missed cases... not an increase in people suffering from the condition. Something the author completely misconstrues... like much of his information.
This is not a workbook there are no practice pages or work to be done. This is a list of information pulled from small unconnected studies. You lost me when there was claims that ADHD can be cured through diet and that toxins cause this disorder.
Not bogged down with too much scientific jargon for the regular person I was pleased at how much I learned about adhd symptoms, cause and coping strategies to implement.
Not Bad - if it is the only book you ever read about AD
There is nothing new in this book. It is mostly suck up and deal with it. I honestly did not need another book explaining ADHD, I thought I was getting a book on help for ADHD
