Delta Team Two #7

Shielding Sierra

Rate this book
Sierra Clarkson thought she’d found the perfect way to serve her country without having to join the military...until she was kidnapped right from the base in Afghanistan she was working on. Even worse, no one knew she’d been taken and no one was looking for her.

Except someone was. The tall, very confident in himself, Delta Force soldier she’d met one day on base a year or so ago. Fred “Grover” Groves hadn’t ever forgotten the red-headed spitfire working in the chow hall. And once he discovered she hadn’t simply blown off his advance by not getting in touch with him when he went home, and she was, in fact, kidnapped...nothing would keep him from finding her and bringing her home.

But Sierra wasn’t exactly a damsel in distress, and Grover would find that out first hand. He’s never loved a woman more…but neither would have a future together if they didn’t work together to battle a common enemy.

** Shielding Sierra is the 8th and final book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

One of my favorite Stoker books thus far. I think it was the heroine in this one who made it so memorable. But I loved Grover and Sierra together. The hand-holding became such a profound thing between them. I loved it. Pretty well guessed how the climactic battle would turn out, but I didn't care. Everyone had a chance to shine and do their thing. In past series, the epilogue has gone on too long for me, but with the Delta Team Two books, I felt it was just right.

I devoured Shielding Sierra by Susan Stoker all in one sitting and this story was worth the wait, especially that epilogue which was amazing and made my heart so full. I loved seeing Grover and Sierra finally get their HEA after what she’s been through and the friendships she has with the other women. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Delta Team 2 series and sad to see it come to an end.

Beautiful

I have waited for Sierras story for so long and I wasn’t disappointed. It is always bitter sweet to say goodbye to a whole cast of characters that I have grown to love but the epilogue was so beautiful and touching. I can’t wait to revisit the delta team 2 family again

The first part where they were captured was horrible! I was very impressed with Sierra and how she was able to keep a level head, to manipulate those that captured her to her benefit. I also really liked that she and Grover were able to spend time together while they were captured talking, it really helped to build their relationship. I also loved that Grover let her know they could depend on his guys to save them, there was no doubt to him, which made Sierra believe too and made the rescue go easier.

I loved the time that Grover and Sierra spent at the retreat, both of them needed that time too. I was glad that they spent all the time together talking, by themselves and in therapy. I was also glad that Grover broached Sierra moving to Texas to be with him and that she took him up on it.

It made sense for Sierra to have her own place in Texas, even if she didn't spend much time there. Being at Grover's house together, you could tell they were building a life. I also loved how the women (and the men) welcomed Sierra into their fold, from the text messages before she moved, to after being there to help any of them and for their group get togethers.

The drama at the end was so crazy! I hated what Sierra did, even as she used those hard won manipulation skills. It really helped things come to an end quickly and in a way there weren't people hurt.

I loved the epilogue, loved seeing all the couples at different times in the future, loved seeing everyone happy as their lives their lives.

I keep asking myself why the hell I read books from this series when I eyerolled at it every 5min. And now that the series is finished I think I can answer lil coherently. I love action packed books with romance. There are few decent books where both things are present just the right amount. Thriller/mystery/suspense/action these tropes kinda shame romance Books. Hell I know people who doesn't think romantic suspense is a genre. But I like it. I like heavy stuffs with romance thrown in it. So I read whatever I find. And this series if you ignore those cringe worthy phrases like our woman, collecting them like pets and constantly mentioning how nice they're getting along, comparing life with there friends, written like a bot and what not. It's a romance book and it has some actions. And that's why I read it. Another thing I like is reading epilogues. And since it's the last book of the series it has a long ass satisfying epilogue where you see them through the year and getting old. If you're a fan of this series it'll make you tear up. Since I can't claim myself as a fan I certainly get why I read it. It has been a ride.

Sierra and Grover’s story

Amazing book to finish the series. If you are looking for a strong, resilient heroine and an awesome, very human hero this is the book for you! Through all the other books this is the one we all waited on and I can tell you with absolute confidence this love story was worth the wait. Have tissue available and hang on for an adventure!

Iam sad this series is over. Sierra is a bad ass. Grover had Sierra had a connection a year earlier when they first met. True soul mates. I guessed the house the Militia were going to take over. The brotherhood and sisterhood of theses Delta teams are amazing and life long. I can’t wait for Annie’s Story. I liked the updates 20 tears out where all these wonderful Delta were. It brought closure to the series.

What a gorgeous ending to a wonderful series. I really love how at the end of a series Susan Stoker gives you small snapshots of the characters future. You find out whether they had the children they wanted, adopted rescue animals or took that amazing trip to Paris they had always discussed.

This story was worth waiting for. I'm so glad Grover and Sierra got an ending to be proud of.

Shielding-Sierra-1

Grover and Sierra met a year ago when the Delta team was in Afghanistan and Sierra was volunteering there. Grover was disappointed when Sierra promised to stay in touch, only to never hear from her again. Although he was sure she felt the same way, she didn’t send him anything. But a letter from Sierra came after months of silence.

Shielding-Sierra-5

She disappeared with her belongings and everyone assumed she simply left.
But she was not the only one.

In a cave, they used Sierra as an experiment for inflicting pain and forcing people to break, in order to get the information the group needed. No matter what they tried, Sierra remained strong.
When Grover got himself captured by the same group, he was certain that she wasn’t dead. He was confident that he would find her if the group took him as a hostage.

Shielding-Sierra-3

The two of them had to wait in that cave for Grover’s team to come and help them. When things back at home got intense, would they be able to survive again?

Shielding-Sierra-2

After reading about their encounter, I have been eagerly awaiting their story. I knew it would be a pleasurable one. There was a happy ending to this heartwarming series, and this book made that happen. I enjoyed the suspense of waiting for them to be rescued, their healing journey, and the glimpses of the upcoming series, The Refuge. The romance was heartwarming. The trip is still as welcoming as ever. This series was as good as the rest of the series I've read of Susan Stoker.

What a ride

This is the last book in this series {sigh} 😔, but as usual Susan knocks it outta the ballpark. Grover and Sierra's story has been building for a long time, and I'm glad they have gotten their well earned HEA. Susan always writes her stories in a way that can challenge the way you think about things but without making you think too hard. I love that Sierra is educated and doesn't feel as if she needs to prove herself to anyone but herself. She struggles, as expected, but isn't afraid to admit it. I also like that Grover struggles as well but not alone or in silence. As always, Susan's books are well written and easily convey friendship, loyalty, honor and trust. Her books never disappoint me. This one is no different.

It’s Grover and Sierra’s turn. When he first meets the diminutive red head, Grover is struck. He looks forward to getting to know her better via letters, but when he hears nothing from her, he’s truly disappointed. Then he learns that she’s left Afghanistan and no one knows where she went. What is more unsettling is that several other American contractors have seemed to disappear as well. When he gets a letter from Sierra, dated a year earlier, he knows something bad has happened to her and sets off to find her.
Sierra wanted to serve her country in some capacity, so she signed on with a contractor to work in food service. The last thing she expected was to be taken hostage by a low level member of the Taliban who uses her to perfect his groups’ torture tactics to rise up in the ranks. Even further from her mind is seeing Grover again, as a fellow prisoner no less! This was an excellent coda to the series and the lovely epilogues that follow are heart warming.

Sierra finally gets out of that cave. She is so strong and uses all her intellect to get what she wants from the bad guys. Grover is so sweet. I love how he never gave up on finding her. Great story and ending to this series. Plus there's my favorite thing of Ms. Stoker...a epilogue that starts with one couple and then moves through them all as the years pass until we are 20 years in the future. Perfect.

Overcoming Tremendous Odds for Love

What an exciting way to end this series. Grover felt a strong connection to Sierra when they met in Afghanistan. He and his team were on a mission and she worked for a contractor with the food in the camp. They exchanged contact information. Grover was disappointed when he didn’t hear from Sierra not knowing she had been kidnapped by terrorists. Almost a year passed when he received a letter from her and he realized she was one of a few contractors that was missing.
Grover didn’t wait and he was determined to bring her home. He did find her and his team rescued them both.
Susan Stoker does an amazing job bringing these two characters together. Their journey to recovering and adjusting to life is like a rollercoaster ride with twists and turns. This couple is well suited and what a love story it is. I loved this story and the author does a wonderful job wrapping up this series.

There aren't enough stars!!!

There needs to be a + after the stars to date books. This one is easily a 10 probably much more. I have been waiting for this book for so long. Grover and Sierra are so damn great together. I loved every single word.. The angst, the feels, the twists and the romance just kept me turning pages. I'm sorry to see the end of this series but I look forward to whatever comes next!

Perfect Ending for Delta Team 2

Susan Stoker has done it again. I loved Sierra so much; she’s such a strong character. The plot was unexpected, but it gave Sierra the perfect opportunity to shine. She & Grover were worth the wait. The ending was a beautiful wrap up into the future lives of the team & their families. Can’t wait for The Refuge books!

Risking it all….

I absolutely adore everything Susan Stoker writes. This book was the last book in her Delta 2 series and it didn’t disappoint. Grover literally risked it all to save Sierra’s life and in the end she risked it all as well to save him. Loved the epilogue.

An amazing story, had me trying to read faster so I could find out what would happen.
Grover all I can do is sigh, and say that I wish all men were like that, and Sierra now that is a kick ass woman, to go and try to rescue her man heck she got a strong mind and lots of love for him.
Am so glad that Grover managed to rescue Sierra and wow to go through what he went thru, double wow.
And seeing well reading that Tex was there when they came home ever better, and heck it was great to seeing the other loved characters come to rescue and lord Annie she was there too and not I can't wait to read her and Frankie's story, well I best go and hope this review makes sense, since I feel a tad lost after reading it.
But rest assured its a great story

Story:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
POV: Dual 3rd Person
M/F
Stand Alone Status: This is not a stand alone novel.

Sierra and Grover’s story started a few books ago and I know I am not the only one who highly anticipated this story. Sierra has been in the hands of the enemy FOR A YEAR! Grover wouldn’t give up though, he knew she was out there! At the end of the last book he got himself purposefully taken in order to find her, and this is where our story begins…. Who wouldn’t want to read this book like, right now after the ending of the last one?

Susan Stoker is a masterful story teller. To be completely honest I haven’t read a single book that I wouldn’t say I loved, and this one falls into that same category. I absolutely adored it. Who wouldn’t love a hero who purposefully becomes a POW in order to save the girl? Who wouldn’t love a heroine who out smarts the enemy at every turn? Sierra and Grover were written in the stars. There is now way these two wouldn’t be perfect together. Their chemistry is amazing. Their banter is the stuff readers like me live for. Their story… wow! Just…. Wow! This book was so good that I had to wait a bit to write the review. I couldn’t find my words. It literally left me speechless.

I don’t like to give away spoilers so I am about to get vague, but there was one aspect of Sierra after her capture that made me think of myself after a traumatic experience I had. This made me more able to relate to her and made me feel closer to her. It really aided in my enjoyment of the story. This whole series has had me feeling especially close to the characters but Sierra totally stole my heart.

If you haven’t read the series pick up the first book today, if you have read the other 7 books then I am sure I don’t even need to say it but I will…. Get This Book! You’re going to love it!

Happy Reading my Friends!

Sierra and Grover - an exciting and swoony end to the series

I love Susan Stoker’s stories and Shielding Sierra is one of her best. I have been waiting for Sierra’s rescue and while this book can be read as a stand-alone, I would not recommend it. Sierra and Grover’s love story first started in book 3 of this series and there have had small snippets and hints about it in every book since then. Grover is a Delta Force soldier who met Sierra on a base in Afghanistan a year ago. She was working as a civilian contractor in the mess hall. She said she’d keep in touch but never reached out. Grover is disappointed that after feeling a strong connection with Sierra she ghosted him and tried to forget about her. But when Grover learned a month ago that she was kidnapped by the Taliban right after he met her, he intentionally gets himself kidnapped too in hopes of finding her. This is where this book starts, with Grover being thrown in the same cave prison as Sierra. Despite this being a military romance, there are no damsels in distress in this book, Sierra is a force to be reckoned with just as much as Grover is and sometimes even Delta Force needs a little rescuing. This book has a little bit of everything just like you’d expect from a Susan Stoker story - sweet moments, strong friendships, fan your face sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, and so much love. Expect to feel all the feels with this one. The writing was fantastic, the characters were well developed and relatable, and the storyline hooked you in from the first word and did not let you go until the last. With Shielding Sierra, the final book in the Delta Two series, Susan Stoker once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller. And while I am disappointed that this series is ending, I’m excited to read the new series about the Refuge.

At the end of the last book we saw Grover head to Afghanistan after receiving a letter from Sierra that was delayed a year. Grover never forgot her and was truly disappointed when he didn't hear from her once he was home. The letter spurs him to something he knew would get him in trouble, get himself captured. Doing so has him finding Sierra and she's in far better shape than he could have imagined.

Grover's team does show up and they manage to accomplish getting them away and the well-deserved demise of Shahzada.

I really loved their homecoming, Tex met them at the airport with not only a phone for Sierra, but it was loaded with a slew of phone numbers she could call for anything she may need. He also arranged for both her and Grover to spend time at The Refuge, a facility catering to veterans and civilians alike who need respite from trauma and/or help for PTSD. I LOVE TEX!

Being home again is very challenging for Sierra, what with the reporters and the sympathy and pity. Her parent while supportive, can't make everything better.

Grover arranges for them to head to The Refuge a bit earlier, and while there they spend a lot of time getting to know each other. Although you do know he wants her to move to Texas.

This is all just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I think I was screaming NO for a bit. Sierra shows incredible strength and initiative, there is no doubt that she and Grover are meant to be.

While I hate saying good-bye to this series, I loved the epilogue which not only wrapped up some things but also teased at upcoming books, all of which are now on my 'Want to Read' list.

Thank you, Susan, you never disappoint!

Ms. Stoker has done it again. This final story of Delta Team Two had it all but with a twist of sorts. Sierra is one tiny badass woman who was held captive by the Taliban for a year. She used her Psychology degree to manipulate her captures into inflicting less torture on her and a few other things. She was strong even when it didn't look like she would be rescued. She is quite the heroine, no damsel in distress for her.

Grover and his team met her a year ago in Afghanistan before she was taken. He gave her his address and asked her to write to him. But he hadn't heard from her since they left Afghanistan. That is until a letter showed up from her that was written shortly after he left. The letter had been lost in the mail for almost a year. That letter spurred Grover into action. He did what any hero would do, he let himself get captured until his team could rescue him and hopefully Sierra. He had gotten lucky and was thrown in the cell next to her.

Sierra and Grover aren't out of the woods yet. The threat comes from homegrown terrorism this time and Sierra puts herself in harm's way to save him. Her superpower is manipulating people into doing what she wants them to do. This time is no different and she buys Grover enough time to get in touch with his team.

Annie and Tex both make appearances in this book as well as Ghost's team. What I like about the last books of Ms. Stoker's series are the Epilogues. Ms. Stoker brings us 20 years from the last story to catch us up on what has happened to the characters and their families. I love that.

This was the long awaiting last book in the series. We’ve known that Sierra was being held hostage for a year after meeting her in prior books. When Grover found out that she hadn’t ghosted him but had actually written to him a year ago, he knows that she’s one of the contractors who has disappeared in Afghanistan. His plan to rescue her is frankly stupid, Happily ever after. Sigh. At the end of the book, we had the usual end-of-series look at the group at various intervals in the future. It was a nice ending, engaging and fun to read. I read the ebook. 5/5

Sierra was too small to be in the military but wanted to serve her country, so she joins a contracting company and helps feed the soldiers. She gets sent to Afghanistan and meets a Delta Force guy. Grover is the last bachelor on his team. When he meets Sierra, he doesn’t make the best first impression but still asks if they could get to know each other later. As Grover finishes their mission, he doesn’t hear from Sierra. A year later he gets a letter from Sierra saying she’d like to get to know him better. When Grover finds out that Sierra up and left but Grover doesn’t believe it because other contractors have been coming up missing. He goes back to Afghanistan and gets himself kidnapped. Sierra can’t believe Grover is in the next cell. They just have to wait for his team to rescue them. She’s in much better shape than Grover thought she’d be. Once they are rescued Grover talks her into coming to Texas. This is the final book of this series.

Action. A great place to escape to. Grover was the last bachelor on his team. A little sexy. No cliffhanger. And can be read alone. Last month I thought of this story but couldn’t remember the author or name of the book. I was ecstatic when I read the blurb and saw it was the one I was searching for. It did not disappoint. Loved it.

WOW What an ending for a great series

We’ve all been waiting for this story of Grover and Sierra. Grover had met Sierra while on a mission in Afghanistan and was supposed to meet up with her before his team left. However circumstances ended up with Sierra being missing mist thought she’d left however this was not the case. When Grover finally received a letter written a year ago he knows that she is still in Afghanistan and plans to find her. His team joins in the search for her and Grover. Then everyone heads to Texas and things become even more interesting for this Delta Team and their women. An exceptional read.

fitting conclusion

Sierra has been held captive by the Taliban for a year but now Grover knows she is missing and not just ghosting him he is determined to find her. So this story begins . It is action packed and just as you expect things to settle down, off they go again. Sierra is a strong woman not prepared to just sit back in life especially when her man needs her .
It was great to meet old friends from other series and catch up with their children too, thinking Annie!
I have loved this series and cannot wait for the next one, highly recommended.
