The Belial Spear

Rate this book
A heart breaking disappearance leads to an even more devastating re-emergence. And nothing will ever be the same again.

Life without Delaney McPhearson has not been easy. Yet difficult as it may be, for those who love her, life must go on.

Years have now passed since Delaney was last seen, but the governments of the world won’t leave her in peace. Events across the globe point to a re-emergence of the Fallen and governments are wondering aloud what Delaney’s role is in their appearance. Those close to Laney though discover a disturbing pattern linking the re-emergence to one of the world’s cruelest chapters in world history.

As the body count rises, the struggle to find the truth matches its pace. But this search won’t be confined to the premiere museums of the world or stuffy old texts. No, this one will take them to the very ends of the Earth.

Series, The Unwelcome Trilogy, and the latest addition, the Shadow Directive series, including Predator Dominion.

Whether it's a global genetic conspiracy, an ancient civilization buried beneath modern myths, or a killer storm trapping a wrongly accused man, R.D.'s books deliver the adrenaline, mystery, and emotional depth that fans of Michael Crichton, Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, and James Rollins crave.

When not writing, R.D. teaches martial arts, runs with her dogs, and tends to her garden. Under the pen name Sadie Hobbes, she also writes sharp, fast-paced urban fantasy thrillers.

Everything we have been waiting for!

Millions of stars for this review! There is no way to explain how amazing this book is! If you were glued to the Belial Series like I was(am) then you have been waiting for this! I can’t give away anything, that would not be fair. Still I had that I knew it moment and was dancing around lol. Laney is hands down the best character and just when you think you know her, she surprises you again. All the gang is in this one just like the first Belial Rebirth 1. Molly is explored a little more and some other characters get a chance to shine as well. As always, I am simply in awe of Ms. Brady’s writing. It seems so effortless and the first word sucks you in! As always I learned so much about history that I never would have learned but for this book. As my husband is a WWII collector, now we have things to talk about that I actually know! Yes I did end up googling quite a bit to learn more. The thing I appreciate the most is that the characters are just so real you feel you know everything & can reach out & touch them. The events that take place in this book are amazing I found myself wishing I were there! Sometimes I forgot I was reading I was so caught up in the story! Hands down a fantastic book. Once again THANK YOU Ms. Brady for listening to your readers who begged for more to the story!!! And lastly, wait for the last line in this book 2 and pick your jaw up from the floor like I did! And perhaps you’re cheering like I am! Wink wink. Is book 3 ready yet?

I’m so glad this series is back! I literally fist pumped at the end of this one. Yes, it’s bleak, but take heart! Laney McPhearson WILL kick ass!

Most of the narrative takes place while Laney and three of the fallen kids have been lost to time. Everyone is on the lookout and mostly have accepted her absence. Except, of course, her closest friends and colleagues. They won’t underestimate her, even when the resolution is slow coming.

We get back to Laney’s side of the story eventually and work our way through finding the next challenge and the next way to stop it.

As always, there’s plenty of intrigue and historical relevance, but less action this time as we are in a transitional space. I’m so excited for book 3!

A series stories Emotions

Once you start The Belial Spear you can't put it down. I found myself getting emotional at the reunion, the sharing between Molly and Lou. The Belial Spear takes history and turn all that information into a great story, like The Belial Witches. And Drake is BACK, on pins and needles, a emotional great read, Mrs. Brady you have done it again.

Outstanding

I was so totally caught up In the story it was a hard jolt when I reached the end. This whole series has been like that, it grabs you and before you know it, you are working next to Laney, helping her with whatever she needs. You become part of the story.

My only concern is that the books don’t come out fast enough.

Either bad editing, or a lack of knowledge

There is no "outside of Manitoba" Manitoba Isa province, not a city.

Then "the province of Ottawa". Ottawa is a city, in Ontario, and is the capital of Canada.

Did the author or editor not clue in to those blatant mistakes?

If you're going to set scenes in your northern neighbour, get your locations right!

Issues

I like the series and the character development. I have an issue when the time editors miss some grammatical errors. It makes me stop reading and try to make sense of the sentences when that happens.

The Fallen return...or do they?

Another rousing adventure, this time looking at the events that transpired in a certain someone's absence. Just when things seem to be calming down, BAM, new surprise! The next book can't come soon enough!!

Belial Spear

This picks up right after the first book ends and continues the roller coaster ride. As always there’s plenty of action and suspense. All the main characters contribute to the story. A good solid read, totally enjoyable and addictive. Recommended.

Continuing battle

So we see more links to the past and more twists and then some. Delaney continues the fight and the discoveries at the expense of herself. I enjoyed it and it's left me wanting more.
