Rate this book
They met in darkness. Each one going through their own personal hell, they gave each other hope and a reason to live. Their connection was real and true but fate had a different plan.

OZ operative Liam Stryker is known for his bravery, his wit, and his ability to find an escape when there’s no way out. He’s also a man on a mission. He needs to find her. She’s out there somewhere. He refuses to believe she’s gone. Someday, somehow, he will find the woman he’s never seen but loves with all his heart. And if it’s the last thing he does, he’ll find the people responsible for causing her pain.

Aubrey Starr once had a plan for her future, but when her life is derailed and upended, she’s motivated to create a new one. As an award winning documentary maker, she’s known for digging deep to uncover and expose evil. Few know about the past that drives her or the man who inspires her. She never knew his real name, never got to see his face, but without him she wouldn’t have survived. Even though she doubts that he’s still alive, she dreams that one day she’ll see him.

Evil takes many avenues and insinuates itself into every aspect of life, causing havoc and pain. Some are born to fight against it with every fiber of their being. Others are thrown into its path and have no choice but to stand up to it or die. Liam and Aubrey have been on parallel paths for years. When their paths finally converge, it’s as if life has given them another chance and everything has fallen into place.

But there are enemies out there who will do everything they can to make sure Liam and Aubrey never find the happiness they seek. When events take a tragic turn, they’re faced with the knowledge that fate has thrown them a new, cruel twist.

And this time, there’s no way out.

A fantastic suspenseful romance read!
The second book of the Option Zero series had a lot of action and a great romance unraveling in parallel.

Liam and Aubrey were awesome, strong, determined, brave, full of faith and hope, fighting against all odds.
The story was very well written and paced, kept my interest from the first to the last page, had plenty of angst as well as unexpected twists and turns.

I am looking forward for the next one!

December 5, 2020 -- FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED

Christy Reece never fails to deliver a gripping and spellbinding story with an interesting, diverse and engaging cast of characters. Her writing is always appealing and compelling and exuding raw feelings with precision. The balance between good and bad will always keep your pulse racing till the finish.

Following the kick-off in February, 2020 of the adventure-packed OPTION ZERO series, her eagerly and much anticipated second book, RELENTLESS, has arrived and focuses on Liam Stryker and Aubrey Starr, characters with strong, distinct and magnetic personalities.

Do whatever it takes to survive . . .

“The Lion” is strong – fierce - relentless.
And he may be “Cat’s” only chance of surviving.

The writing is on the wall – it’s clear the situation is going to become very ugly very fast. And Liam Stryker’s survival instincts are always on full alert.

When Option Zero is caught-up in a hostage situation involving a human trafficking operation, Liam and his team are called upon to find the victims, shut down the traffickers and bring the culprits to justice.

Liam’s personal mission: Find her – the woman he knows only as “Cat.”

And no way will I give away anything else but what the book blurb offers in spurring on a reader. That would be a total ruination of the adventure readers will find for themselves inside this hot, action-paced and suspense-filled story. But I won’t stop singing its praises.

Impressively thought-out, multi-layered and smartly balanced slow-burning passion and explosive high-stakes danger puts you under its spell and won’t let go. And the proof is found from the first chapter through the very last.

An intense, fast-paced, emotional ringer where danger, desire and romance are successfully merged into one irresistible story. If you like your thrillers with a side of scintillating romance, check out this page-turning sub-genre. And then settle back and savor every page.

You can argue with me until you're blue in the face, but I’ll never budge from my belief that romantic suspense is the best sub-genre of choice. It’s got everything any reader could ask for: action, mystery, drama, suspense, world-class friendships and, of course, romance. And the balancing and blending of all my favorite emotions and feels make it my first choice over any other.

This author has a real knack for keeping her stories moving forward and always keeps me guessing what’s going to happen next. This story was very satisfying and everything I wanted it to be.

I highly recommend this book and the entire OPTION ZERO series!

I would pretty much read the phone book if Christy Reece wrote it, and no on can write a bad guy (in my opinion) like she does, but this second book in the Option Zero series, is one of my favorites thus far. Such a rollercoaster goes on with Liam and his Cat. So many "almosts" and so many near misses...I am so glad he never gave up on finding his "ghost". What an ordeal they came through, stronger on the other side, but each never forgetting the other. I absolutely loved this book.

“There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul” ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox

With ever step he took, he felt as if this time….this time would be different. This time he would definitely find her.

Nothing was going to stop her from making this date. She told herself he would be there.

Liam Stryker and Aubrey Starr….

They had forged a bond within the dark walls of pain and betrayal. They endured torture and treachery with great fortitude. And both made it their life mission to save innocents from being lost to the evil that permeates society. Mercilessly. Relentlessly.

Two determined souls destined to be together.

Second in her Option Zero series, “Relentless” is a masterpiece of writing and narration. Christy Reece poured her heart and soul into Liam and Aubrey as she goes on this journey with them; a journey of finding each other, knowing each other and living for each other. Love is a very powerful emotion. It comes in different shapes and sizes. It’s about fate, failure, timing and redemption. And when the time comes, these two courageous souls will have their day.

If Liam and Aubrey grace one end of the spectrum of her plot, Christy Reece’s design of a massive hive of powerful people trying to play God is another brilliant twist on the opposing end of the spectrum. A plot that most likely will be entwined into her consecutive stories and there is no dearth of imagination in her to create another brilliant and edgy story.

“Relentless” is a story of bravery and resilience, brotherhood and camaraderie, fate and destiny. It is also a tale of love and hope that solidifies the fact that when bad things happen to good people (and they do happen all the time), they can come out on the other side with grit and tenacity molding into a character of beauty.

Relentless is a romantic mystery novel and the second book in The OZ series by Christy Reece. A love story about finding your soulmate while in captivity in Syria, the devastation of losing it, and the lonely twelve years until finding it again. All of it while being caught in the sights of a serial killer contracted by a mysterious organization with unknown members and goals, but powerful enough to manipulate the lives of citizens in different parts of the world.

Aubrey Starr was an awarded documentary filmmaker focused on human trafficking and the impact of it over time in the victims that were rescued. She took on exposing human traffickers as a personal crusade as well as raising awareness about how vulnerable and unprepared we are in a world full of despicable human predators looking for their next victim. A crusade motivated by her own experience and inspired by Lion, the hero who saved her. Lion who gave her hope when she was hopeless and stole her heart in the process.

Liam Stryker, Lion, was an OZ operative haunted by an unfulfilled promise of rescuing his beloved soulmate Cat. He had dedicated his life to the point of obsession to the rescue of victims from human trafficking and dismantling their traffickers operations.

Despite of the odds and through miracles Aubrey and Liam get their second chance at love.

This is one of my favorites quotes.

“What in the world is this?” “The bakery calls it their miracle cookie.” Miracle was the perfect name for it. She tasted chocolate, coconut, possibly cherry or raspberry, cinnamon, and a couple of other spices she couldn’t identify. Combined, they created the most delectable taste she’d ever experienced. She looked at the empty bag. “Where’s your cookie?” “I just brought one.” “You didn’t want one?” “I wanted you to have a miracle.” He gave her a sweet, sexy smile. “I already found mine.” The lump in her throat grew without warning. She swallowed hard and said huskily, “You’ve been my miracle for twelve years.”

Liam and Aubrey (Cat) met under the worst of circumstances. They kept each other alive and Liam dedicated his life to finding her again. He did everything he could to keep his promise not realizing that she had been right in front of him years earlier. This series brings up the worst in humans which is unfortunately a subject that is true and currently happening, human trafficking.

These characters are some of the strongest, dedicated, and caring that I have seen in a book series. I love this series and these characters. Liam and Aubrey were able to fall in love and keep searching for each other even though it took over 12 years for them to finally succeed. I don't know many people who would be that dedicated. Once they realize who each other are, finally, they are set to discover why she was abducted in the first place. This book was addictive, a page turner, and so good!

Aubrey and Liam's reunion was a l ok ng time coming. They met in the worst of circumstances and fell in love. It took 12 long years for them to finally find each other and once they did there was no going back.

This was a fast paced page Turner and I couldn't put it down. Christy Reese has yet again went beyond writing an absolutely incredible story. I cant wait for the next one to arrive.

So there is this bad guy..bad group…and there is this hero…group of heroes….and there is this explosion…and a kidnapping…and another explosion…and a victim…and …

While a lot of stories may fit this scenario, the fact that the author is Christy Reece makes this more than just another story. The author of the Last Chance Rescue series and the Grey Justice series has done it again with the new Option Zero team series. Merciless, book 1, was done brilliantly, and introduced a whole new group of characters. Relentless continues with the back story of the formation of Option Zero and yet keeps us moving forward with the overall plot of the evil , group trying to control everything, including politics, fame and fortune, life and death.

Liam Stryker is an original member of Option Zero team. He was there from the beginning. He and his “brothers” in arms have stuck together through good and bad and are trying to keep evil under control. They are the last option for those who need it. And he has a secret mission all his own…to find the victim he wasn’t able to save.

Aubrey Starr was made a victim. A random act of violence and her entire purpose for life changed. She was going to raise awareness, do good for the other victims and live her life honoring the man who saved her, even though she didn’t even know his name.

Ms. Reece always gives us a very intricate, well- woven story that has us flipping pages to try and get to the next revelation. Her heroes are always heroes, her bad guys are unredeemable and her heroines are strong women who will survive. I have been reading her stories for years and have never been disappointed in any character she creates. Her stories never repeat, the bad guys always get their due and she leaves us longing for the next book. Well done once again!!! Even though she writes wonderful series, each book can easily be read for the adventure itself. And there is always a great romance waiting to happen.

Relentless, Cat and Lion’s story, is the latest in the Option Zero series from the fabulous Christy Reese. It’s amazing; a definite five-star rating. I absolutely loved the beginning; I absolutely loved the end; the middle not so much! Now before you jump down my throat and wonder if I am a crazed person asking me how I could rate a book five stars if I didn’t like the middle part of the story. So, let me explain. We know that Cat and Lion are meant to be together, but it takes twelve years!! I’m impatient. I wanted to get to that part of the story ASAP. But I was denied. She loves him but thinks for twelve years he’s dead; he loves her and for twelve years he’s been searching for her. But the middle part, the twelve-year waiting period, it really is awesome, too. We go from Syria, to Hollywood, to Montana, to Columbia to Florida and back again. We watch the guys and gals from OZ fight the bad men and bring home the prisoners of a human trafficking ring. We watch how research is done and a documentary made. We see how devastating an unfulfilled love can be for both of them. There’s mystery, intrigue, exciting places, interesting people. Relentless is a sure winner, a great read. Hats off to Ms. Reese!

"When I get home, we're going to spend days and nights together, exploring all those things we don't know about each other. Okay?"
"It's a date."

Wow! I loved this story! One thing this story tells you is that sometimes, out of the worst of situations, come the best things ever. That, and that love is persistent and knows no bounds!!

Liam is the ultimate hero. Since he heard her voice 12 years ago, and made a promise he couldn't keep, he's never stopped looking for her. He searched the eyes of every woman they rescued on every mission, hoping one would be his Cat. He never gave up, until this last mission. You know how they say that the thing you're searching for will present itself once you stop looking?? Well, that was never truer!!

Then we have Aubrey Starr. From the moment he started talking to her through that prison wall, he was the source of her strength, her reason for living and not giving up. She refused to believe that he was dead, and lived her life in his honor - a tribute to the Lion that saved her in ways he'd never know.

These two were just perfect together. Both never giving up on the other, and finding their way back to each other. Even with evil forces doing everything in their power to keep the secrets that the pair could spill to the world, their love and devotion to each other will be their saving grace. Again.

This whole series is amazing, and this story is a wonderful, amazing, thrilling, and steamy addition!! Definitely grab it!

Christy Reece has been one of my favorite romantic suspense writers for a long time. I loved Relentless! The story of how Cat and Lion bonded and fell for each other in the worst circumstances. I love how they both followed their passion to stop human trafficing and how they were in the same circle, but hadn't met again until OZ's latest op. I can't wait to see what the next book in the series holds.

The beginning of the book, just wow. Trafficking is just horrible, it's out there and it's hard to read about but this author wrote this story in all its grittiness. This book gripped me with the intricate details and the action, I just could not put it down. I needed to keep reading, I needed to know how this all ended. When Liam and Aubrey finally reconnect after so many years, I had tears. They fell in love and had never set eyes on each other. Such a fantastic second book in the Operation Zero series. Love this author and look forward to the next in this series

Once again Christy Reece brings us into the world of Oz. No it isn't the same as Dorothy's. This Oz shows us the nasty underbelly that lurks around us. As Aubrey discovered at a young age, no one is exempt from the long arms of evil. Enter Liam Stryker. His purpose in life is to battle evil. His capture on an assignment puts him in the same place as a woman he knows only as Cat.

Circumstances surrounding their imprisonment and the results, puts him more strongly on a path focused on stopping human trafficking and finding out what happened to Cat. His position at Oz guarantees he has the resources.

This book had so many twists and turns. I was fascinated and hooked from the start. I waited anxiously for Aubrey and Liam to meet again. Everything that unravels as the story progresses builds the suspense and makes the story so strong and interesting you won't want to put it down. There wasn't a place in the book you could stop and not want to grab it again and read more.

I am a huge fan of suspense and this book hit every mark. It was interesting, entertaining, and sometimes scary. I would be thoroughly shocked if you didn't love it as much as I did.

Relentless
An Option Zero Novel
Christy Reece
A story that shocks you and characters that grab you from start to finish. Such a well written story about a horrible subject of betrayal, brutality, and determination. Lion and Cat are lost souls looking for each other with a determination that keeps them looking for 12 long years. Each one clinging to hope. Each one honoring the other in the jobs they do.
This is one book you can’t put down.

I am a huge fan of Christy Reece’s talent and Relentless is one of the reasons why! Liam and Aubrey have a strong history together, having met, but never seen each other under the worst of circumstances. Each had all but given up hope if ever meeting again until she heard his voice and realized he was still alive. Once again, Aubrey’s life is in danger, and Liam will do everything to protect her from Relentless attempts on her life.
Option Zero makes every attempt to unravel a ball of yarn with too many dead ends. Hopefully, future books will pursue the organization responsible and be able to cut it down all-together!

Christy has done it again! Everytime I read her books, I think she will not be able to top this one. Christy just knows how to grab your attention from the first page. I just couldn't put it down. I feel like her characters are my life long friends.

This book takes off right from the start and it just takes you on this twist and turn adventure that you don't want to get off of. I've never rooted for 2 characters more than these too! Please read this book and you will not be disappointed

From the deep dark interior of Columbia to the sweet clear mountains of Montana this story captures your attention from start to finish. The operators of OZ continue their mission to destroy human traffickers.

Liam has a personal stake in this as he seeks to find Cat who he first met whilst they were both held captive in Syria.

What a well written and addictive book absolutely full of intrigue, tension, drama, suspense with the added bonus of Liam’s search for Cat. Will he or won’t he find her?

I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend it to you.

Liam and Aubrey met 12 years ago and, even though they were in the dark and have never seen each others faces, they have been searching for each other ever since. This is a heartfelt romantic suspense centered around the troubling subject of human trafficking. There are so many twists and turns I never knew what to expect next. It’s fast paced and emotional and it held my interest throughout. The storyline is so very well crafted and all of the characters are interesting. I am enjoying this series so much. What a wonderful story! So much emotion! Liam and Aubrey have both been put through the wringer, yet hold on to their ideals. Their love story will elicit more than a few tears. The plot is tangled and twisted and will keep you guessing. A wonderful cast of secondary characters and fabulous writing make this a stellar 5 star read.

Another hit by one of my favorite authors. Christy writes with such emotion, her characters come alive between the covers of each of her books.
Relentless was an emotional roller coaster for me.
Liam and Aubrey had to overcome so many obstacles to find their HEA. The darkness they each endured, created a bond that was unbreakable. Aubrey is a strong, intelligent woman, with a beautiful heart. I really liked Liam as well, and felt his character was believable and real. He was protective, but not too over the top with it. I enjoyed reading glimpses from other characters in the Operation Oz series too. I will continue to read anything Ms. Reece writes. I highly recommend this series!

On a mission in Syria, Liam Stryker is captured and tortured. One method used is to put him in a cell next to that of a woman that calls herself Cat and then allowing him to get to know her. After she is taken away, he is forced to repeatedly listen to a recording of her screams. Once he escapes, Liam spends the next 12 years working for Option Zero or OZ for short, taking human trafficking cases in order to look for Cat among those women he is able to rescue.
Aubrey Starr, documentary filmmaker with a specialty in human trafficking is in the process of making another film when she finds OZ to use as a source and hears a voice from her past.

The best part of Relentless at the beginning of the book, details the time that Liam and Cat spent in captivity, getting to know each other through the stories they made up and told one another to keep themselves sane. It is heartbreaking when Liam desperately searches for Cat when he is rescued and believes he must leave her behind. The rest of the story expands the puzzle of the seemingly all powerful mysterious organization that will most likely appear in future books in this series. Overall, Relentless is a good romantic suspense story, intermixed with real emotions.

Relentless was the very best of what Christy Reece written so far! Liam is the kind of hero that every girl dreams about, and every woman swoons over. Starting in Syria, and having a story that spans 12 years of Lion and Cat searching and hoping that they will get to meet face to face. I found something in this story that I haven’t found in many, and that was total buy in. I felt so connected to the characters, their happiness and pain. I laughed, cried and was heartbroken when it ended. Kudos Christy Reece for a phenomenal story!

Wowza. What a ride. Another home run for Christy Reece. I couldn’t decide what to read. And frankly I was not in the mood for this genre. But I promised to read the ARC. Good golly, I started and stayed up until 2 AM. I read it straight through. She literally kept me turning pages half the night. Such a great action packed ride. If you love romantic suspense well I suggest you read this author...she is so talented.

Christy Reece never fails to hit a home run. This book takes you on a journey that shows the dark side of someone (or a group of someones) having too much power, money, and influence. Throw in a serial killer, human trafficking, and lovers torn apart, and you have a page turner that as usual kept me up well past my bedtime as I couldn't put it down. Liam and Aubrey were perfect for each other, and prove that you should never give up hope.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is another spine-tingling book in Christy Reece’s suspenseful “Option Zero” series. The beginning of this book finds Liam Stryker and his team in prison in Syria. They were on a black ops mission when they were abducted. The Syrian guards are systematically torturing them attempting to force them to reveal people and events who are part of national security.

While there, Liam discovers that a woman has been placed into an adjoining prison. She is in pain and obviously very ill. Liam continuously talks to “Cat” in order to help her mentally survive her pain and terror. Eventually the prison guards remove her and do not bring her back. Liam is extremely worried about where she is. He assumes that she has either died or become a victim of human trafficking.

When Liam and his team members are rescued, Liam insists they look for Cat. However the prison has been decimated, and no one is found. Liam is distraught, but is forced to leave without her.

Twelve years later, we meet up with Liam, who is now a member of the Option Zero group. He has suffered extreme guilt for leaving Cat, who he is sure has been forced to live a life as a sex slave. However, he refuses to give up looking for her. Every time his Option Zero team arrests a human trafficker and free their victims, he searches for her.

Over time, he meets Aubrey Starr, an award-winning documentary filmmaker. She has devoted her life to uncovering the human trafficking industry. Unfortunately, the man who had planned to produce her latest documentary is murdered.

Audrey finds another producer who happens to be friendly with the Option Zero team. The new producer wants the Option Zero team to allow Aubrey to drive along with them on their latest mission. This places Liam, the Option Zero team and Aubrey all together in the perfect place to find trouble.

Christy Reece constructs a complex plot with so many twists and turns that it is extremely difficult for the reader to differentiate the “good guys” from the “bad guys.” The excitement increases as more and more people die without revealing any clues about what is going on.

This is a high-intensity, suspense novel, with lots of action, adventure, corruption and horror. It is a page-turner that will grip you from the first page until the very last.
