I did learn some things from reading this book and it was not difficult to read. However, the editing/proofreading was not as good as it should have been as I found several errors. I would have liked more detail describing the formation and predictions of weather patterns and events we experience every day. I also felt that for a pocket guide, there was a lot of dated material as opposed to information that would apply, for example, to a reader a century from now. Much of this may have been to further pre-conceived agendas like human causation of climate change patterns. Many items, possibly in an effort to be concise in a guide book, were stated as given absolute fact that, although commonly accepted now, could still be challenged and found to be false with more research or observation. Basically, for a guide book, too much dealt with past climates and future climates, which involves speculation based on what we know now. It also was puzzling that in the last chapter on weather records, Oceania and Australia were treated as separate "continents" with records listed for both.
