Mistaken beliefs of past events lead to mistaken accusations in current events and someone is determined to snuff the life out of a Calamity Jane/Annie Oakley impersonator. Can she turn things around to be accepted in a town that viewed her as a throw away her life or will her life be thrown away before she gets the chance. This is book 7 in an excellent romantic suspense series that will keep you entertained for hours. You absolutely could read this book as a stand alone, but I highly recommend that you start from the beginning to multiply your reading experience and entertainment levels immensely.

What a fantastic book that kept me on edge, I devoured this book in a day. Just as Allie returns to Broslin Creek, can Harper really believe she murdered someone? Loved how we didn’t know what went wrong with their relationship, and ended up crying over their past. Will she give him and his town another chance? Does she have a stalker? Was shocked at the plot and who the murderer was. I went through so many emotions and really loved their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Dana really did it this time! What a great book. I can usually figure out the killer in a book the first time he is introduced. Not this time. Excellent job. !Loved the love story too. Clever and funny!

Its been a while since the last Broslin Creek book so it was good to be back. Deathmarch gives us the story of two people who grew up in Broslin Creek. One ran from the town at 18 and the other became a detective for the small town.

Allie Bianchi had a hard childhood. No mother and was being raised by her father who lived more on the wrong side of the law. Even though she was bullied for her circumstances she knew she could survive as long as she had her high school love Harper Finnegan by her side. But when her father's criminal influences start to effect Harper he has to cut off all ties to Allie or risk going to jail. A devastated Allie chooses to leave town and never look back.

Allie returns to town a decade later in the midst of a snowstorm for a historical reenactor job and is immediately arrested for a town murder by the one person she hoped to never see again – her ex boyfriend Harper.

The story is both a mix of the police procedure part trying to find out who killer the town recluse/prepper and Allie and Harper dealing with their past, dealing with still having feelings for each other and what all of those things would mean for the future.

Plenty of the past characters were back along with getting to know Harper's big family. I enjoyed both the suspense and the romance and was happy to get to revisit Broslin Creek again.

I have not read a book in this series in a while. Allie left town years ago thinking Harper Finnegan didn't love her. Misunderstandings and assumptions messed everything up. Allie is back in town for a job when disaster strikes. A snow storm puts her car in the ditch and walking in blowing snow to town when she's picked up by none other than Harper. Then she gets arrested for murder. What else could go wrong. This is a fast paced story with multiple things going on. It's the kind of book that draws you in and makes you want to read just one more chapter even though you have to get up early and go to work in the morning.

As an avid fan of Dana Marton’s Broslin Creek series, I was happy dancing about returning to the small town of Broslin, Pennsylvania, with Deathmarch and was not disappointed! False assumptions take center stage in this whodunit that is both romantic and suspenseful. Please know that even though Deathmarch is the seventh entry in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Calamity Jane/Annie Oakley impersonator Allie Bianchi plays the role of our heroine and Detective Harper Finnegan fills the shoes of our hero.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Allie’s and Harper’s), the story is set in the present day. Dana effectively uses flashbacks to take the primary characters down memory lane connecting how past events/actions carryforward. The story is the engrossing mix of Harper and Dana emotionally dealing with their past/present AND of fascinating police procedurals dealing with the murder case. Then, just as Harper finds evidence that seems to clear Ally, Ally finds herself targeted and in danger.

Allie had a hard childhood growing up in Broslin. She and Harper were a thing until they weren’t. Devastated by Harper’s rejection, she escaped from Broslin when she was 18 never expecting to return. Now, her stage-performer business is struggling and when she’s offered a desperately-needed gig in Broslin ten years after she left, she accepts. Nowhere in that quickly-in-for-a-performance scenario did she ever imagine being arrested for murder by her ex-boyfriend upon her arrival in town.

Allie and Harper had plenty of history back when Allie’s scumbag father was alive and Harper was a bad boy. Harper has turned his life around but has Allie? Will the town of Broslin give her another chance as they remember her bum of a father? Will the independent and strong-willed woman Ally has become afford the town and Harper another chance?

Following please find a few of my favorite excerpts from Deathmarch:

“He was going to kiss her. The thought speared through her stunned mind as he closed the distance between them and brushed his warm lips over hers.

The rush was like plunging from the high point of a roller coaster: sheer exhilaration, breathlessness, half a heart attack.

She made a sound. She hadn't meant it to be encouraging, but it so obviously was, he kissed her deeper.

Nobody kissed like Harper. God, she'd almost forgotten how he would begin slow and soft and seduce her mouth little by little until she was hopelessly lost, until she was ruthlessly conquered.”

---

“Now how am I supposed to kiss you?" He put himself out there. If she smacked him down, so be it.

Instead, the corner of her mouth turned up. "I can be kissed in other places.”

---

“Do you feel like you've been through a meat grinder or just tumbled around in a cement mixer?”

Returning fans of the series will certainly enjoy catching up with the town’s residents as many characters from past Broslin books play supporting parts. There’s Harper’s brother Kennan and their parents, Rose and Sean Finnegan. From Deathwatch (*1), Murphy and Kat return. From Deathtrap (3), Sophie and Ethan Bing return. From Broslin Bide (5), Detective Chase Merritt returns.

Deathmarch is Harper’s and Dana’s sexy and tender second chance at love. Their story is a well-paced, entertaining read from the start to the finish and a wonderful addition to this series. Seriously, if you are a fan of contemporary romantic suspense and haven’t picked up one of Dana’s Broslin Creek books, you are missing out. I sure hope there’s another Broslin Creek installment in the works as I can’t wait to return!

Another great Broslin Creek story

It was great to be back in Broslin Creek with the story of Harper and Allie. Allie returns to her hometown ten years after leaving it. Her father was trouble for the town and she was looked down on as his daughter. She left town the same night he did, the town thought she had gone with him and was following in his ways. The night she comes back is the same night a local preparer is found dead and gold and silver was stolen. The boy she loved back then, Harper, is not a police officer and he arrests her for the murder. How this mess gets straightened out, including a women jealous of Harper helping Allie, Allie’s stalker ex-boyfriend and the real murderer is a fun story. Allie is smart, strong and funny. Harper is a born protector who never forgot her. Interesting characters and story. I always enjoy all of Dana’s books, she never disappoint me.

Tension a plenty, drama and suspense from the outset as Allie arrives in town during a fierce snow storm. She has plenty of people not a fan of hers through no fault of her own but just who is trying to frame her for murder and trying to hurt her? Honestly this story gave it all right to the end, if I'd been her I'd have curled up in bed and refused to move. So many suspects, and attacks on her. Harper once he got passed being an idiot did work hard to keep her safe and clear her name. This was a rollercoaster of a plot. Exciting and romantic in the second chance love, fabulous characters easy to love or not. Small scenic town where everyone knows everyone. Another fantastic story in this series.

Dana Marton has once again hit it out of the ballpark.
Allie left town 10 years ago heart broken and swore never to return. But Never Say Never. Allie returns for a historical reenactment, gets caught in a snow storm and arrested for murder by her ex-boyfriend, Harper. Follow Harper and Allie as they discover who the real killer is while rediscovering their love. Lots of characters from previous books in the series but you don't need to read them to enjoy this book. But, Hey, it's cold and rainy, so I'm going to start at the beginning and re-read the series. Yes! they are that good.

First, I have enjoyed every book in this series, this one is no exception and Allie, the main character, cannot catch a break, in this newest addition. The story springs forward from the start with continuous action until the end of the book. This fast paced, quick, interesting read, will draw the reader into the story, until the satisfying end. Add to your TBR list and at the same time grab the whole series. Excellent.

Dagnabit good

Allie is an historical reinactor about the old West characters like Calamity Jane and Annie Oakley. Harper is her ex-boyfriend from high school and is now a detective in Broslin. There's so much action in this book that I couldn't put it down. The last few chapters are heartpounding action. Dana Marton doesn't disappoint with any of the books in this series.

I love the hero. He was kind, compassion and patience toward the heroine. In contrast the heroine was ruined the story for her unforgiven about her past. She was pessimist and did not want to give a second chance for the hero to have relationship with her. She wanted to leave the town and Harper as soon as possible.

I loved Deathmarch. I have missed Broslin Creek and the newest addition gave me everything I have come to expect from this addictive series. From hilarious moments to intense chemistry to intense danger, everything worked so well! Dana Marton is an outstanding author and she manages to find new and interesting ways to present her characters even through the- woman-in-danger trope. I love that her female characters are strong and that the characters are not perfect but they are generally kind and supportive.

DEATHMARCH is the seventh instalment in Dana Marton’s contemporary, adult BROSLIN CREEK romantic suspense series focusing on the people of Broslin Creek, Pennsylvania. This is police detective Harper Finnegan, and stage performer Allie Bianchi’s story line. DEATHMARCH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Allie and Harper) DEATHMARCH follows Allie Bianchi’s return to Broslin Creek, ten years after the man that she loved pushed our heroine out of his life. Allie’s father was the town pariah, and in the aftermath of her father’s criminal activities Allie was presumed guilty by association, and left out to dry. Returning to the town where she grew up, Allie has been hired to perform for the local historical society but never expected to be arrested for robbery and murder of a local man. Enter Detective Harper Finnegan, the man that destroyed Allie’s heart years before. Found with evidence in the trunk of her car, Allie is arrested and presumed guilty for sins of her father. As Harper Finnegan begins an investigation to clear our heroine of murder, Allie finds herself the target of more than one person. What ensues is the slow rekindling relationship between Allie and Harper, and the potential fall-out as Allie becomes collateral damage from several directions.

Independent and strong willed Allie Bianchi never thought she would return to Broslin Creek, let alone find herself stranded in a snowstorm, eventually charged with murder but Detective Harper Finnegan wasn’t joking when he handcuffed the woman he used to love, a woman whose reputation has been tarnished by her father’s past. Nothing has gone right with Allie’s return, and the town gossip mills work overtime to ensure Allie isn’t welcome.

The secondary and supporting characters included several of the Broslin Creek regulars and a group of doomsday preppers, as well as Harper’s brother Kennan, their parents Rose and Sean Finnegan; Murphy and Kat (Deathwatch 1); Sophie and Ethan Bing (Deathtrap 3); detective Chase Merritt (Broslin Bride 5); and former high school bully Brittany Wallingford.

The relationship between Allie and Harper is one of second chances: a rekindling romance between two people torn apart by betrayal and family. The premise is engrossing and engaging; the characters are strong, colorful and energetic; the romance is tender, and the lone $ex scene is mostly implied.

DEATHMARCH is a story of mistaken beliefs, and presumptive guilt, second chances and forgiveness. The premise is captivating and enjoyable; the characters are spirited and inspiring.

Allie Biachi felt some dread over returning to her hometown of Brolin Creek, but she never could have believed it would turn into a literal death march when her car spins out in the snow a mile away from town limits. Within 24 hours, she is rescued from the snowstorm by her ex-boyfriend from high school, has very unwelcoming reunion with ex-boyfriend’s family and is arrested for murder by said ex-boyfriend. Maybe the return to Broslin is indeed a death march….

Oh boy, this latest visit to Broslin Creek starts off with raging storm and the “storm” just picks up from there! Detective Harper Finnegan appeared in the prior Broslin Creek books very much in the background. Well, he is front and center in this one, back on the police beat with a murder to solve, an ex-girlfriend to clear as a suspect and a close Irish family that is all up in his business. Finally getting Harper’s backstory was a fun gift for all Broslin Creek fans – not only was there the trademark smooth writing and perfect plotting of author Dana Marton, but she gave us one of the wittiest smart-a** heroines for the ages. Allie Bianchi, professional historical re-enactor, and Broslin Creek native, is not exactly greeted warmly by her hometown. The daughter of a con-artist and thief, the Finnegans blame her for leading their saintly Harper astray and nearly ruining his life. Everyone remembers her as the daughter of a criminal. But Allie holds her head up, wrapped her Grizzly coat around her and just let the bon mots fly! The only thing sharper that her mind is her tongue, and Harper certainly is not shielded from that:

Are you warm enough?” Harper turned the knob on the dashboard to crank of the heat.
“Like I’m sitting in hell with the devil.”

Oh yes, the Mistress of the Best Lines Marton (you must read the opening sentence of Flash Fire NOW!) is back with Allie as the perfect character to deliver. I cannot believe I am going to write this, but Deathmarch may now be my favorite book of the series! Action, adventure, a second-chance romance, a crime I could not solve, all perfectly flowing across the pages. I always know I will have an excellent read from Ms. Marton, and I am already awaiting her next book!

DeathMarch...this is one of those books you want to read again, and then one more time just to make sure you caught it all. I whizzed through it the first time in 2 hours. Second time, I slowed down a bit. Dana Marton has never disappointed me in her books and this newest addition to Broslin Creek is no different. I laughed so hard I cried. Guess what? I couldn’t guess who the bad guy was. One of the best things about this book, it kept you guessing until the end. I loved it!
Allie and Harper are at it again, but this time the town bad boy is a cop, and guess what? Allie is the suspect in a Murder case. Rose Finnegan won’t let that good for nothing Bianchi girl get a hold of her boy again.
The laughs are non-stop with these two hotheads. I don’t want to spoil it, but I hope you enjoy this latest Broslin novel as much as I did, revisiting old friends and catching up with new ones.
I did receive this as an Arc copy, but had already pre-ordered this from Amazon. I pre-order my favorite authors as soon as I can. This one comes out on February 2, 2021 don’t miss it.

The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below, I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Deathwatch (Broslin Creek, #1)
Deathscape (Broslin Creek #2)
Deathtrap (Broslin Creek, #3)
Deathblow (Broslin Creek, #4)
Broslin Bride: Gone and Done it (Broslin Creek, #5)
Deathwish (Broslin Creek, #6)
When You Return to Me (Broslin Creek, #6.5)

This is Allie and Harper’s story. Harper and Allie have a history. Allie left town at 18. Her father was on the wrong side of the law and when that started to come between Harper and Allie she left. She is back in town for a job but instead is getting arrested for murder by none other then Harper. Can they work together to get the killer or will Harper just believe that she did it?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Talk about a screwed up woman...or was it just circumstances just endlessly turning against her? Don't we all have those moments in life? If so, you'll definitely have empathy here. Allie has worked so hard to overcome her decidedly unfortunate youth, yet here she was, innocent darn it, accused of murder in her home town that she ran away from oh so long ago. Who arrested her? Her ex-boyfriend of course!
Dana Marton's wonderful talent for twists, turns, surprises and all out unexpected humor is always a joy and thrill to experience in her books. She doesn't disappoint in Deathmarch either. I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to the Broslin Creek series. Read it! If you haven't read a Dana Marton book before, you'll discover a new favorite author.
I received an Advance Copy of this book (which I thoroughly enjoyed). No pressure to exaggerate or lie in this review - and trust me I didn't! You'll love this book!

It has been too long since we have enjoyed a visit to Broslin Creek. I have not been able to put the book down since it arrived. Dana is back and on top form.

We have excitement, a sub plot, lots of twists and turns and are able to catch up with favourite characters from the previous books. Whilst the book is suspenseful there is humour too with the underlying tension of old lovers reuniting.

Harper and Allie are both likeable characters with a previous history and as the blurb says he is town bad boy turned detective and she is the daughter of the town thief who left town years before when Harper dumped her.

On the night of her return a murder is committed and Allie finds herself arrested by Harper as the main suspect. I would not wish to say more in case I spoil the plot.

This is a great book and well worth the 5 stars. I hope we do not have to wait so long to visit Broslin Creek again.

Dangnabbit!

I loved this! Allie and Harper may have grown up but they still have a connection that defies words, their banter and teasing is hilarious, the Finnegan family think love means interfering, which they do very well, and Allie constantly slipping into characters will have you laughing out loud.
There is of course the pesky matter of the murder and that Allie is prime suspect....but deep in his heart Harper knows she didn't do it, he just has to solve the case and keep her safe! That may be easier said than done!
Every visit to Broslin Creek is fast paced with plenty of mystery and intrigue and this one is no different, the plot has so many twists there are times it looks more like a maze...but Harper is determined to solve it so he can claim his one true love. Will he manage it before she runs again?

I love Dana Marton’s books and Deathmarch is no exception. This is a well written story with three dimensional characters that are well developed so that you feel like you know them. It’s a good mix of romance and suspense. The author keeps you guessing as to who the “bad guy” is until the very end and even adds a couple of twists to add to the complexity. Allie is a strong character with just the right amount of angst from her past that makes you cheer her on with whatever she is doing. The Finnegans are all interesting people with a strong sense of loyalty to those they love, and it was interesting to see how they all came to love the “bad” girl that really was never bad at all.
