It was only supposed to be for a few months, so where was the harm in going along with it? That is, until the fake engagement Landon and I came up with after a misunderstanding threw us both into the spotlight, and threatened to destroy the lives we had both worked so hard for.
Somewhere along the way, though, we realized everything had changed. So, we made a vow to one another when we crossed the line from being best friends to lovers, that neither one of us would get hurt.
But that’s the thing about promises made, they are often broken, and the fallout can be catastrophic.
So, when the real world comes crashing down into the fake world we’d created, neither of us knew who would break our vow first, and more importantly, which one of us would survive the betrayal.

”All this man had to do was whisper in my ear, and my stomach was either flipping or my heart was threatening to beat out of my chest.”
I usually don’t read much of friends to lovers but i cant say that I didn’t enjoy this one! Kelly really outdid herself and this being my first ever book by her, I’m really excited to check her other works out!
This book was really hilarious and I had a great time reading this one! This book also had its sweet moments which had me swooning over our two MCs.
”But looking at Landon now made my insides come alive and burn with a desire I had never felt before in my life.”
Landon Lewis, 27, is one of the sweetest guy characters I’ve ever read. I loved his bond with his family and adored his relationship with Emme. He has been in love with Emme since years but hasn’t conveyed his feelings to her for the fear of his feelings not being reciprocated. I loved how he treated Emme and how respectful he was towards to her🥺
”Slow. We needed to go slow, even though everything in me told me to knock on the door and take what was mine.”
Emmerson Wallace, 25, is a wedding planner and loves everything which has anything to do with weddings. I did find her a little reckless in the starting but i really liked her later. She was such a fresh breath of air and I loved her relationships with her fam and Landon.
What didn’t really work for me was the plot-twist. I thought that it was really unnecessary and author just added it for the sake of having a plot-twist. I felt like sometimes the book was going too fast and sometimes felt like it was dragging but that may just be “my” issue🤷🏼♀️
”I slipped on the ring, knowing that deep inside I prayed this so-called fake engagement would lead to a happily ever after. Our happily ever after.”
Overall, this was quite a fun read and I’m really looking forward to the story of Hailey and Jack(🤞🏻🤞🏻)
“I am such a fool for you, Landon Wallace.” “And I’m one for you, Emmerson Wallace. Don’t ever leave me.” Her eyes met mine as she smiled and said, “Never.”
Oh my this book was so steamy and hot. I loved it like every book Kelly has written and I have read. She has a way with writing her books that flows and gets the reader so in grossed in her books they can't put them down. This is about Emmerson and Landon. Two people who have known each other their whole lives who have been in love with each other and never admitted it out loud. One night Emmerson tells an x boyfriend that she's going to marry Landon. But its fake. Or is it.

Friends to lovers never felt so right as it did with Landon and Emmerson in Fool for You, Kelly Elliott’s seventh standalone installment in her Southern Bride series. The perfect pairing of sexy sparks flying and a heartwarming friendship made for an incredible reading experience.
How does Kelly Elliott do it? With every new novel of hers I read, I finish the book thinking “this is my favorite couple!”. Then it happens again with the next book, and the next… There is something just so real, honest, and engaging with Elliott’s writing style–and with the characters she creates. In Emmerson and Landon’s case, I adored them to bits and would seriously love to hang out with them in real life. Especially if their nosy–er, loving family was there too. (lol)... Read More
This was such a sweet and heartwarming read!! Oh my goodness, I just loved it so much!! I've come to really adore the friends to lovers trope, and the way this one was done.. just bravo!! I felt absolutely EVERYTHING our characters did, and I am just so glad they had their happy ever after!!
Emerson and Landon have been the best of friends ever since they were younger, and over the years their bond has only gotten stronger, regardless of any other relationships they have had. Landon has always had his heart set on Emerson, even though he's never let it show.. until she makes an announcement that they are engaged. Surprise! Now these two have to navigate this tangled mess they find themselves in, but they also let themselves feel everything they have repressed over the years, and try to navigate the difficult waters of being lovers without losing that solid friendship. And of course there's a twist I didn't see coming!
What I loved most about this book is just how much I loved both Emerson and Landon. Landon was so damn protective of her, and always made sure that Emerson knew how he felt about her. And Emerson loved Landon so fiercely, and had the biggest heart, but always chose the wrong man in fear of losing her friendship with Landon. Ahh, the angst is just glorious, but not overwhelming either. And their connection is just off the charts!!
I just loved this book so much. It was exactly what I needed to pick me up from my funk, and I can't wait to read more from this author!
**I received an ARC and these are my honest opinions!**
**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**
Fool for You is the seventh installment in the Southern Bride series. It is a complete standalone.
Fake engagement. What's the harm in pretending for a while. Landon and Emerson have been friends forever. Their parents are close friends and business partners so Landon and Emerson are life long best friends. Landon has compared every woman he's ever dated to Emerson and no one has ever compared. He realized early on that he had feelings for Emerson but he never wanted to lose her friendship. It took Emerson a little longer to realize why she's never been in a fully committed relationship. Her heart has always been Landon's.
After Emerson's ex shows up to a function with his "fiancé". Emerson isn't interested in him but irritated by something he says and blurts out that she and Landon are engaged. Landon being the man he is agrees to go along with her fake engagement but suddenly nothing feels so fake anymore.
I absolutely loved Emerson and Landon. They were so sweet and sexy together. I couldn't get enough of them. Watching Emerson follow her heart made for such a sweet read. Landon was so swoon worthy! Seriously can Kelly even write a man that doesn't make you want to swoon? I pretty sure she cannot!
I can't wait for anything by Kelly Elliot. I would read her grocery list if she posted it!
Another epic romance story from Kelly! I really don’t think I can ever say enough about how amazing Kelly’s writing is and how obsessed I am with her books, and like all the others, I loved this one just as much as the rest. Emerson and Landon grew up as best friends, and while they both harbored feelings for each other, they never acted on them, afraid to lose the friendship they had. As the years have gone by, each of them has had relationships but nothing has stuck because they always compare or are compared to the other. Everything changes when Landon decides to retire from the circuit and move back home, and at an event, Emerson is backed into a corner and decides to say that they’re engaged to get her ex off her back. That continues to backfire when someone overhears and ends up announcing it to the entire event, their parents and siblings included. Resolving in the understanding that they need to keep the ruse up, the pair end up deciding to give things a real shot between them after the divulge the feelings they’ve had for each other all those years. Per usual, I loved everything about this book – the characters and their development, the pace of the storyline, and the style of writing that Kelly brings to the table. I truly cannot wait to see who is next in this series, because unlike typical series, these books have the same premise of sorts, but are not intertwined necessarily, which adds to the attraction of this book and this series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
5 star reviews Fool For You (Southern Bride #7) by Kelly Elliott
Whenever I pick up a book by Kelly Elliott I know two things, the writing will be strong and she will quickly have me invested in the story she weaves. This is Landon Lewis and Emmerson Wallace’s story and it ticked all the boxes for me. This is such a beautifully well written story of friendship, love and romance. From the first chapter to the last I was hooked and had a hard time putting this one down when real life got in the way.
Fate works in mysterious ways and when they are pushed into a fake relationship, all bets are off as they realize that the chemistry and attraction that sizzles between them can no longer be ignored. They promised one another when they crossed the line from friends to lovers that nothing would break their friendship.
What happens when real life throws a spanner in to their plans? Will it destroy their friendship and those of their families forever? That is the position that Landon and Emmerson are in. The journey that they embark on had some twists and turns but above all it was heartwarming to read.
One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Emmerson and Landons story was simply adorable. These two have been best friends for quite sometime and Landon’s wanted more but not if it meant losing there friendship until Emmerson takes it upon herself to make a little announcement that he is totally going to capitalize on. This was so sweet and humorous
I finished this book at 6am today and I started it at 4am! I couldn't put it down! this is one of my favorite tropes and Miss Elliott killed it with these two!
She always makes me smile while reading her love stories. Fool for You was no exception. I truly loved these characters. I loved that this story was a follow up to her Adrenaline series. Although even with saying that…you don’t have to read those books to enjoy this story.
If you are a romance reader then you need to read this book. This definitely gives you all the feels and you will fall in love with friends to lover story!!!
Promises like hearts are meant to be kept, but easily broken. Landon and Emmerson are the dream that was never meant to be real. Friends forever, but never destined for anything more. What happens when your head says NO, but your heart screams YES! Fool for You looks into the soul and finds a beautiful song in need of some fine tuning. With each and every story Elliott dives into the forgotten depths of the heart and leaves a mark not easily erased.
There is something really amazing abut a southern gentleman. It doesn't matter if yur their wife, girlfriend, daughter, sister or mother. They always treat you with a whole lot f love and respect, case and point Landon and Emmerson. Best friends their entire lives. BUT there was always something else there. But niether f them would admit it. So when Emmerson's idiot f an ex makes her angry Emmerson hatches a plan. Now of course I wnt say what the plan is but it is awesome
Kelly just keeps releasing new books and I keep falling in love with each one. I just can't help it the couples and the side characters are just amazing.
I loved this story with its two main characters Landon and Emmerson who've known and been best friends for forever. They both like eachother but they each have doubts that the other one actually likes them. So they've never said anything to eachother lol. I think because if they do say something and the other one doesn't feel the same way then it would ruin the friendship between them.
But one night something happens that both Emmerson and Landon start and they can't come back from.
From start to finish I loved reading every single minute of this book. Landon was just so freaking swoony and handsome. I giggled, swooned, cried happy & sad tears and had hand on the heart moments
I absolutely loved Fool For You, the seventh book the Southern Bride series, by Kelly Elliott! Kelly Elliott has once again delivered another wonderful romance with Fool For You and has once again provided her readers with amazing characters. I love all the characters in Fool For You and how feel like best friends! Who doesn't love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, and loving friends, who always support one another? Kelly Elliott continues to deliver all that and so much more. I have read other books by Kelly Elliott and have always enjoyed her wonderfully written love stories. Kelly Elliott has once again proven that she is an incredible storyteller. Fool For You truly did not disappoint, I could not put it down and loved every page. One of my favorite parts is how Kelly Elliott incorporated the title of the book into the love story. Each book in the series keeps getting better and better, and I have loved each one of them. I love that she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. Fool For You is filled with secrets shared and discovered. Fool For You is a wonderful love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Kelly Elliott love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing. My favorite moments are the ones that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. Fool For You is filled with such moments, and with so much more. Fool For You is about childhood best friends Emmerson “Emme” Wallace and Landon Lewis. (I love how the Emmerson and Landon were initially introduced as children of the main characters in Kelly Elliott’s Speed series.) Emme owns her own wedding planning company, Serendipity Wedding Planning and Landon is a former NASCAR driver and now owns his own auto restoration shop. Landon and Emme have secretly had a crush on one another growing up, neither one of them has ever acted upon their true feeling for one another. They were not willing to risk their friendship to explore something more with one another. Emme volunteers Landon to be a bachelor for a charity auction benefitting the local children’s hospital. Overcome by jealousy, Emme offers up the winning bid for Landon. Then Emme tells a former boyfriend that she and Landon are engaged, which quickly spreads throughout the event. Emmerson and Landon agree to a fake engagement and will quietly break up saying they are better friends than lovers. Unbeknownst to their parents, Emme and Landon decide to secretly date and explore their feelings for one another. I enjoyed all the plot twists that threatened to disrupt their relationship, but their love prevailed. As Emme and Landon begin to spend time together with their fake engagement, they both realize that they have feelings for the other. Another favorite part was the significance of the engagement ring that Landon gives to Emmerson for their fake engagement and how he remembers so many details of Emme’s dream wedding. I truly loved the emotional wedding gifts that Emmerson and Landon gave to one another on their wedding day. Who doesn't love stories about falling in love with your best friend and crush that turns into true love? Fool For You is filled with bittersweet and poignant moments and the surprise plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in Kelly Elliott's stories. I love how the Prologue in Fool For You comes from events that occurred in the Epilogue of Kelly’s book, Adrenaline (Speed #2) and how Fool For You felt like a family reunion and gave readers the opportunity to catch up with the characters in the Speed series. My favorite part of this series are the epilogues, I truly love how they go above and beyond the happily ever afters. I love that this epilogue takes place five years later, so that the reader gets to see how Emmerson and Landon’s lives, and the lives of their siblings have changed. Fool For You is an incredibly written love story and I loved every moment. I especially love the ending of the story. I love how Kelly Elliott includes the details of the dresses on the cover of the book in the story. Highly recommend this beautifully written story.
Oh, I just love Kelly Elliot and her writing. Fool for You is a breathtaking friends to lovers romance.
Emmerson and Landon have been best friends their whole lives. Each of them have feelings for one another, but are too scared to say anything because they do not want to ruin their friendship. They have dated other people, but none of them stick around for long because they are always comparing them to each other. When Landon moves back home after leaving the racing circuit things start to change. Emmerson really starts to see Landon differently, and Landon can not get Emmerson off of his mind. Things change when Emmerson tells her ex that they are engaged just so he will leave her alone, soon this is announced to the world and Landon and Emmerson decide to have a fake engagement and then mutually break up in a few months. But one kiss in a limo can change everything. Landon and Emmerson can no longer hold off their attraction to one another and they decide to secretly date while being fake engaged. (I love it!) Are they truly meant to be?
I loved every part of this story. The flow of the plot was perfect, nothing was rushed or out of place. They did not need to get to know each other because they already knew everything about each other. They had been in love with each other for so long, that it only made sense that they moved fast and were comfortable being in this new role. This was such a sweet story.
I love Kelly Elliot's writing style. She can do no wrong!
‘Fool For You’ is the next book in the Southern Brides Series, preceding the series finale ‘The Right Moves’, releasing September 28th 2021. If you’ve journeyed like I have with this series from the beginning with ‘Love At First Sight’, you’ll know you’re in for a fantastic read before you’ve even turned the cover.
The Southern Brides Series has cemented itself as a firm favourite among Kelly Elliott fans, and I can confirm that this read will only make her readers such as myself, love it and her even more.
As outlined in the blurb, Fool For You promised us a sweet friends-to-lovers romance, giving fans of Kelly’s ‘Speed’ series the best of both worlds, combining that series with the Southern Bride series and it delivered! If you wanted more from the ‘Speed’ series gang and a sweet, toe-curling southern romance that will make you ‘ooh’ and ‘aww’, this is the read for you.
Get ready to meet Landon and Emmerson, aka Emme. You’re going to love them just as much as I did.
Fool For You ticked all my boxes and indeed, all the right boxes, when it came to giving everybody a little something that they like in a read. The classic ‘will they, won’t they?’, it has it. A dash of sweet with the right amount of spice to balance, it has that as well (and w.o.w, does it make me want to go out and get a truck and snag me a cowboy now!). For being a sweet, light read, I was thoroughly impressed with just how much was packed into its tiny frame. Quite literally, we are having our cakes and eating them with delicious gusto.
Unexpectedly and pleasantly both, I discovered something while reading that hasn’t happened for a very long time. I was reading, or rather hearing, Kelly’s voice as I read. Literally. If you have ever had the pleasure of listening to Kelly read part of one of her books over on her Kelly’s Krew Facebook page, you will be familiar with the passion, love, emotion and enticing element to her voice as she speaks and as I turned the pages in this read, I felt as if she was sitting in front of me telling the story. This caught me completely off guard and by surprise, but this is a mark of a great reader for me and I can only give Kelly a round of applause for making this read as a result of her voice, so engaging.
There is one thing I am curious about that I am yet to figure out. Kelly let us into a little secret that each book contained an event/scene/part that has occurred in her real life with her husband. I spent the entire book trying to work out which part of this story it was, and I cannot wait to dive back into this read come release day to try and solve the mystery. Think of this when you’re reading this book, it is great fun and adds an extra element of fun to a Kelly Elliott read.
Don’t be a fool, grab a copy of Fool For You come release day! Spend your night with a cowboy who doesn’t just only know his way around a track, but in every other way that counts too.
Five stars for my favourite author and for Fool For You!
This book is like a dream come true because hello Landon and Emmerson are finally here. I wasn’t sure if we’d get their story when I finished the Speed series a few years ago, but Ms. Elliott has delivered and it’s a fabulous story!!
Landon and Emmerson have a friendship that is unbreakable even when it’s tested by outsiders… namely people they’re dating. It’s obvious to everyone that they belong together except these two can’t see it. Well that’s all about to change when Emmerson just can’t help herself and announces to everyone that she and Landon are engaged!! Imagine the shockwaves this sent out!!
But this is just the catalyst Landon and Emmerson needed to finally admit what they’ve been feeling and oh my stars, they’re so good together! I loved how their love for each other grew even stronger as the story moved along. However, there are things that could irreparably not only change their love but could also annihilate their friendship. My heart truly hurt for them because what was supposed to be the grandest love, may not have the HEA I was hoping for. But Kelly Elliott wouldn’t do that to us!! I kept reading and reading and maybe even swooned a few times along the way, cuz Landon and Emerson are meant for each other!!
Fool for You is one of the best books I have read this year and I think it’s my favourite story in the Southern Brides Series. This is book seven in the series but Landon and Emmerson’s friends to lovers romance can certainly be read and loved as a stand-alone. Childhood best friends both scared to cross the line that could ruin the friendship get thrown into a fake relationship and that’s when the fun and games begin because it’s not just them that are best friends, their families are also friends as well as business partners and that means there is a lot to risk losing for this couple. Is it possible to fall in love with your best friend? guess you need to read the book to find that out.... Another great addition to this snd series and as you would expect from Kelly Elliott, families and friends are at the heart of this entertaining, emotional, heartwarming romance. Fool for You is a sweet, tender love story that’s also filled with laughter, it has adorable characters, it’s captivating and it will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Loved everything about this heartwarming romance and it will certainly be on my top reads of 2021.
Kelly Elliott at her swoon-worthy best. Fool for You transported me back to the brilliant days of the Wanted and Broken series. I fell in love with this best friends to lovers 7th book in the must-read Southern Bride series. And the icing on the cake was to write this story about the next generation in the Speed Series. Just exceptional.
Landon and Emmerson have been best friends since childhood, even choosing each other over boyfriends and girlfriends, but suddenly there is a shift in the air, and the air starts to crackle with the chemistry between the two, but both don't want to lose each other if they reach for something more. But if the stars are aligned and fate steps in sometimes you just need to take that leap of faith.
4.5 stars Fool for You is one of my new favorites from the Southern Bride series. I've found most of the books to be on the heavier side, while Emmerson and Landon's story was full of light hearted ribbing, swooning best friends, and fun characters. Emme and Landon have been best friends since they were young with some heated underlying chemistry ready to explode at any moment. That moment came when least expected and chaos ensued from there, all the while I was cheering for these two to finally get together. They compliment each other perfectly, Landon being the swoony gentlemen and Emme realizing just how deep her feelings for Landon ran. Their friendship blew up into this fast moving relationship that was so exciting to read. The lines between fake, real, and pretend are all blurred until a moment of pure clarity.
I loved every page of Fool for You. Emme, Landon and family made for a light hearted and fun read. I'm always looking forward to the next book in the series.
Fool for You is the kind of friends-to-lovers romance we all long for. Two best friends, absolutely perfect for one another, finally taking that leap into more. Kelly Elliott has been a go-to author for me for many years now when I want a book I know is going to fill my heart with warm and fuzzy, swoony romance joy and she certainly did that with Fool for You! Fool for You delivers all the feels with the sweet friendship, steamy romance, and heartwarming family ties. I was head over heels for Landon and Emmerson almost immediately and I just kept falling more and more in love with them the further I dove into their story.
This book is laugh out loud funny! My husband would look at me like I was crazy because I'd snort or start giggling while reading this.
Landon is such a sweet man! He's the one guy that will do anything for Emme. Well let me rephrase that anything that she wants except one thing....he won't tell her how he's felt for years. I just wanted to tell each of them tell her/him already!!! You're killing me!!
Her mouth gets her in trouble and she blurts out things without thinking them through. I'm glad for that though as it led to them getting some truths out there.
I loved how both of them with their families and friends and most especially with each other.
If you want a sweet love story, that's got some heat to it and will make you laugh. Grab this book!
Landon is a former race car driver in love with his best friend. Emmerson is a wedding planner in love with her best friend. Either one thinks the other one feels the same way they do. When one thing leads to another and they have to fake an engagement everything falls into to place or does it? This is definitely a cast of characters working for and against each other. Several sweet moments and several laugh out loud moments! This was a great quick read that I truly enjoyed. I would definitely read more books written by this author.
I love a great best friends to lovers romance. This is book 7 in the Southern Bride Series and I absolutely loved Landon and Emmerson. I am so glad I could finally get my hands on their story. I couldn't put this book down. It was entertaining. It's a beautiful love story of two souls where are meant to be with each other. You get all the feels in this one. I laughed, I definitely swooned. This what their perfect love story.
Kelly has a way of just sucking me into the story & falling in love with the characters. Seriously Landon was just an amazing character. Seriously I need to find me a Landon because he just stole my heart.
Not only does she have the best, amazing, sexy, kind hearted, loving male characters, she also has the sweetest, kind, perfect female characters to form the perfect match. I loved Emerson, I loved that she was a strong, independent woman with a flourishing business that was taking the wedding planning world by storm.
These two had me cracking up laughing like crazy. They were both sweet as pie, sexy as hell together but also hilarious. That hotel room scene had me clutching my side I was laughing so hard. Landon & Emerson kept everyone on their toes the entire book & definitely kept things interesting. I loved their story!
Not only did I love these two but I loved all the other characters in this read as well. It was another amazing read in this series & I can’t wait for the last book!
Fool for You is so fabulous. This has to be my favorite book yet in the Southern Bride series. I laughed, I cried happy tears and I felt it in my heart and soul. This book is those childhood best friends that were destined to be together. Emmerson and Landon are everything. I loved how everything just fell together between Emmerson and Landon once they finally had their moment of to notice everything. Their love is sweet and tender. Their love is filled with laughter and a whole lot of heart. I sighed with my heart becoming so full over the love of Emmerson and Landon. I love how this series is all standalones with the same theme. I cannot wait for the finale book to come out because each love story is just spectacular. You are not going to want to miss out on this beautiful love story.
Awwwwww I loved Emmerson and Landon. Both are super funny and have been in love with each other forever, but neither wanted to lose the best friend they had In one another. Loved the back and forth, the closeness and the mistaken wedding that brought them together. Loved this read so much, won't be the last time I read it at all
I absolutely loved this book!!! It was a quick one sit read for me!! I loved Landon and Emerson so much! I love a good friends to lovers story! I loved that there wasn’t any long drawn out unnecessary drama. This is a true standalone in the series. You don’t need to read the others in this series before this one. This book is another example why Kelly Elliott is a must read author for me. She creates these worlds that you never want to leave! I for sure wasn’t ready for this book to end! I absolutely recommend this book!
