Rate this book
It’s Christmas, and climatologist Lydia Doyle is stuck in the worst place possible -- the Florida Everglades -- alone in a record breaking heat wave. Her twin sister, who she usually spends the holidays with, has bailed, but not before she sends a special Christmas present -- a cute stuffed, snowman plushy. After rebelling to free his people, Nix, onetime Warrior Prince of the Snowmen tribe, finds himself cursed into a soft, helpless body until someone makes a heartfelt wish. He never expect to be thrust into this new world stuck in his secondary form, with the most beautiful human he’s ever seen. But a heated argument, an attack goose named Frankie, and an accidental melting changes things for them both, all in one chaotic morning. Now Lydia has to find a way to put her snowman back together again and hope she hasn’t ruined her chance for a very happy holiday.

How Not to Date a Snowman is book 11 in the How Not To series by Stephanie Burke. I’ve really taken an interest in this series over the past year or so. Each book is a standalone and I’m reading them out of order, which is unusual for me. I started with How Not to Date a Fae, book 2, moved on to How Not to Date a Skunk, book 3, read How Not to Date a Vamp, book 4, then jumped right into book 11. I have several other stories in between and will get to them as I am able.

Lydia Doyle is a scientist stuck in Florida at Christmas. When her sister informs her that she cannot join Lydia, as per normal, she sends Lydia a gift in her stead. Inside the package is a cute snowman stuffed animal.

Nix is former Warrior Prince of the Snowman tribe. Former, as in he finds himself cursed and bound inside a lifeless body. That is, until someone in possession of the body makes a heartfelt wish. Then, Nix finds himself in a very warm climate, in a very strange world, next to a gorgeous woman – and her attack goose….

Now, Lydia and Nix might dissolve any chance at happiness.

How Not to Date a Snowman is a great book in the How Not To series. This book is complete fantasy with a touch of realism. The author's conflict, and subsequent resolution was suspenseful for several reasons, and I was on the edge of my seat. The story is unique, has a fun plot, and includes likeable characters. I enjoyed Lydia and Nix's story.

I really get a thrill when I read Stephanie Burke's books. They can be so over the top with the fantasy/paranormal aspects but have tons of humor and some nice steamy scenes. This story had some realism to the fantasy. Lydia, a scientist and an oddity down in the Florida everglades with her pet/bodyguard goose, finds romance with an actual "snowman". Who turns out to be the man of her dreams...who can give her multiple organisms...LOL. It was nice to see the town rally around her and be more neighborly. Also I loved how she got her twin back at the end...HOTNESS!!!

A very different, yet cool (no pun intended) story. It’s original and well thought out. The characters have depth which makes this a fun read

This was such a cute and funny story that was simply just too short. The interactions between the mains was adorable. Also loved it when Lydia learned new things about the townfolk- hilarity. The epilogue I found to be delicious and in need of its own story.
