Rico was always up for a good time. A little naughty fun with no strings attached. But the past six months have shifted his priorities. Changed his wants. Sharpened his needs. And what he needs is the sweet new-hire with the face of an angel. Lennie is the type of woman he would never have given a second glance before the men around him started falling into a life Rico used to swear would never be his. She’s sweet and soft and smart, but stubborn and wickedly surprising in the best possible way. The problem is, Lennie came to Alaska for a reason. A reason that could steal her away before Rico can claim her for himself. **** Lennie expected Alaska to be an adventure. A needed escape from a breakup that hurt her pride more than her heart. Hearing you’re too stuck up and frigid to love is more than enough to make a girl reevaluate all she is. All she wants to be. It’s why Lennie went to Alaska. To be what she never could before. A woman who sees what she wants and takes it without embarrassment or fear. And what Lennie wants is Rico. He’s got bad boy written all over him and her fingers itch with the need to trace every line inked into his body. But Rico isn’t what she expected him to be. Beneath his laid-back attitude hides something very different. Something that pushes her boundaries and stretches her limits. And makes her question everything she thought she knew.
***Advance by Bounds is a complete stand-alone set in the world of Alaskan Security. You do not have to read the first five books in the series to enjoy Rico and Lennie’s story.***
#RicoTheFreako... wow wow wow.. What a fantastic slice of Alaskan Security. Gave me ALL the feels.. had to be read in one sitting. One sultry man and lovely Lennie, I adored their story. Can be read straight away without starting at the beginning of the series as it’s the start of a new plot line. Great storyline with AMAZING characters. And a lot of steam! I need more! Lovely little surprise at the end with Wade and Brock. CANNOT WAIT FOR ABES BOOK NEXT eeeekk Welldone Jemma/Janice
This is an amazing, all the feels, totally hot read.
This for me is the best in the series so far.....I’ve probably said this before lol, because I absolutely love this series.
Janice (aka Jemma) you amaze me...this is an amazing, all the feels, totally hot read.
Lennie and Rico’s story is all about building trust, both have been hurt and have built walls to feelings they either don’t want to show or feel they are not worthy to have.
Together they have a chance to learn and find they are worthy of those feelings and can feel again.
This is one hot friggin book, Rico is one bad man! 😏 Lennie is about to find out those who’ve been before him were seriously inadequate!!
Again some of the one liners have me laughing out loud! These girls are another level funny and bad ass. So well written by Janice yet again.
We saw the conclusion to the over arching plot in Strategic Maneuvers.........or did we 😵. Yes a new threat is on the horizon!
We get a front row seat to Abe and Elise in this and oh what fun their book will be 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, what a ride! Putting this book down to sleep and care for my family was tourture. (I'm kidding, but not really :-D ) What I thought was going to be a hard-to-get shygirl/skilled alpha story turned out to be so much more. I should have known it would. Jemma Westbrook has a way of throwing her readers into the thick of the action before they even know there's a bend in the road. I loved getting to know 4 minor characters from her previous books so much better. Lennie & Elise are beautifully developed characters. Their friendship is created and strengthened through the story, as are their individual personalities. Rico & Abe carry a comfortable working relationship you can tell is built on trust and friendship. But the relationship developed between Lennie & Rico is beyond hot! Add in the chemistry building between Elise & Abe, and an action infused plot twist/ extension, and yeah, you're not going to want to put the book down until you have consumed every last page. I'm heading back to read it again, and looking forward to the next Alaskan Security book with immense anticipation!
The Alaskan Security series by Jemma Westbrook will pull you in and leave you wanting more! This series has it all; action AND steam!
Advance by Bounds is the sixth book in this series and, while the first five books in the series have to be read in order, this one can be read as a standalone if you are newer to the series and don't want to read the first five books yet.
I loved this story! I loved watching Lennie blossom into the confident woman that she is and I loved that Rico also learned to grow and to let go of his past. This story was hot and the action scenes were intense; I held my breath a lot in this book! Elise and Abe were the comic relief of the book and I loved that these two had a heavy presence in this book as well. Rico and Abe worked like a well oiled machine when things got hairy and Elise was a great friend to Lennie. Abe and Elise's snarky back and forth helped lighten the intensity that surrounded this story and I can't wait to read their story next! The bonus bits were a nice addition to the story as we got to see two separate glimpses into the lives of characters we've seen before and some we haven't.
Lennie just wants to be wanted, the rejection and hurt from her past spears your heart, the doubt, the self depreciation and the fear makes you want to leap to her defense. But deep down she is a wolf, she just needs the right motivation to fight, to find her passion and to let her imagination run wild...Rico is that motivation! He calls to her soul. He is dark, dangerous and seductive, he wants all of her but is willing to give all of himself in return...dare she hope? Can Lennie face her fears, will she pick excitement or will she hide behind her secrets? This is an amazing series and this book doesn't disappoint, being book six in the series there is a lot of back story that is referred to, which is easier to understand if you have read the first five books, otherwise there are a number of scenes, characters and comments that will make no sense, but the whole series is available on Kindle Unlimited.
It is becoming quite an addiction, these characters, and I had a hard time putting this book down as well. Alaskan Security has had a rough year, and only now are they finding a bit of calm.
I really appreciated Lennie's desire to change her behaviors and ask more from her life. Rico is "all in" with her, but is wise enough to allow Lennie to choose him herself.
The intrigue and dangerous situations that these men and women face keeps me on the edge of my seat, and I love that Team Intel is just as impressive and important to Alaskan Security as any other team. Still not sure I trust Vincent, but - we'll see.
I really enjoyed this book and how it set itself apart from the rest of the series. Being set outside of Alaska gave it more of a stand-alone vibe along with the fact that it was a separate mystery from the previous books. Rico & Lennie were great together. I loved how all in he was after they decided to get together. Rico just kept pushing Lennie’s boundaries until she was all in as well. They were so hot together (especially Chapter 6).
Abe & Elise were the perfect team members to have along in this book. I’m diving right into their story.
Gah! I’m solo upset with myself for not reading this earlier! It was fast paced, intense, and unexpected, and I was completely immersed in the world this author created. On paper, Rico and Lennie seem like a mis-match, but together, they were absolute fire. I loved it so much!
This has less nail-biting action, so I wasn’t rushing through this story like I did the other ones. This one is tame compared with the rest of the series.
Jemma Westbrook/Janice Whiteaker is good at telling stories and pulling you in as a reader, but holy moly should she change out her editor and proofreader. I found so many writing mistakes, typos, grammar mistakes etc that it boggles my mind how an author of this caliber publishes something with so many mistakes. And I’m talking about all 6 books, not just this one. Were it one book, there could be a reason for it, like a deadline, someone being ill or something like that. But when it’s all six books, it tells me her editor and proofreader are bad at what they do and not worth the money she pays them.
Every time I think the next book can’t get better; she proves me wrong! The build up between Rico and Lennie “Loba” was INTENSE!! The way Rico has Lennie come out of her shell was something to see. The fierceness and loyalty their relationship; I have no words for it.
This is book is based around Rico and Lennie’s, within the Alaskan Security series, which focuses on a particular couple to move the story further. Advance by Bounds takes us towards the endgame within the Strategic Manoeuvres plotline. Lennie is one of the 2 main characters, she just needs to be wanted. In her past, the rejection and hurt from previous relationship has made who she now is, making you wonder how she’ll deal with the doubt, the self depreciation and fear, She decides to change her job and moves to Alaska with her work colleagues, so she can start working on becoming the person she really wants to be. What will be her motivation? Our 2nd character Rico, is dark, dangerous and seductive, he wants all of her - but is he willing to give all of himself in return? He’s definitely a real bad boy!! He thinks Lennie is sweet, soft and smart, definitely not his usual type! Lennie discovers that Rico isn’t what she expected him to be. Beneath his laid-back attitude hides something very different. Can Lennie face her fears, will she pick excitement or will she hide behind her secrets?
Once again Jemma has delivered, and I’m already anticipating what will happen in the book...highly recommend if you love to read a romance, with plenty of steamy scenes, suspense and lots of action then this is the book for you.. I would definitely recommend you read the books from this series to get an understand of who is who and be able to appreciate all the interactions.
Welcome back Alaska!! Rico and Lennie bring us back in touch with Alaksan Security-Team Rouge in this newest edition to the series. The fall out from book 5 has been leaving the entire group reeling and starting to settle in, but of course nothing lasts for long. Lennie and Rico have been circling each other since Lennie got to Alaska, and when they take a trip to Ohio to close down the office of the company that many of the women worked for things move forward speedily and steamily. It is amazing to watch these women who have so much strength inside of them but haven't had anyone to support an allow those strengths to come out. We saw it with Mona thought the first 5 books, and by her and Pierce's book she shines with the power that she always had inside of her. Rico does the same for Lennie. he doesn't change her, he allows her to enhance the parts of herself that she left hidden. Rico is a dirty talking alpha that knows that once he has Lennie there is no going back. Of course it wouldn't be Team Rouge with a little bit of Chaos surrounding them. And of course the amazing cast of characters that surround this group. Jemma Westbrook gives us another great addition to this series, and I can't wait for more!
These two were a little annoying at the start with their hot/cold thing. Fortunately, they both realized it and kicked their own butts so no one else had to. I also wasn't totally convinced they were going to be a good pair, but there was more to both of them than it seemed.
I would have liked to have a little more detail about their pasts and how that was affecting their present. But the information we did have made their hot/cold situations make sense.
While most of the ongoing case was resolved in the last book, it seems that Investigative Resources and Chandler are going to haunt them forever. There are always new and unexpected twists and turns there!
I get a little nervous with bossy, possessive MMC because so many of them get so close to the line of consent and are often treading the line of abuse. That is not how this author writes her characters. Rico has some issues from his past, but respecting women and ensuring consent is not a problem for him.
I like how each of the books have hints of upcoming relationships and glimpses of prior characters. Elise and Abe are definitely going to be an interesting pair.
It felt good to visit with the Alaskan Security family again! This time we got passionate Rico and quiet, insecure Lennie. There was quite a bit of push and pull in this one (I prefer a bit faster burn). Both MC’s were scarred by former lovers and were careful about starting something new. This doesn’t make Rico any less protective and possessive though! Gotta love an alpha cinnamon roll. This book was a bit less action packed than the previous ones. It’s mostly about the couple(s) falling in love (we got quite some time with the MC’s of the next book already). I’m really digging this series!
Safety: OM: h’s ex causes some trouble. H gets jealous. OW: ex-wife H thought was his one and only, loved her with everything he was. She left him. This always makes me feel like the h is second best. What if the ex-wife hadn’t left or came back? Would he still pick h? I don’t like the ex-wife storylines. She doesn’t make an actual appearance in this book though. She’s just mentioned. No cheating No separation / no third act break up
If I could give this more than 5 STARS, I would!!!
This series just keeps getting better with every book Jemma Westbrook writes! I was anticipating Advance by Bounds even before I pre-ordered this book, the characters were speaking to me before I read the first page. And they did not disappoint! Rico is the dream man all women want. Alpha, but tender. Sensuous, playful, sweet. Possessive and protective. The chemistry between Rico and Lennie sizzles on the page.
An interesting story arc starts in this book, and I’m looking forward to how it will play out in future releases. Getting to know two other characters in the Alaskan Security universe was delightful icing on a delicious cake; hope we’ll see more of Abe and Elise later.
If you haven’t read any of the Alaskan Security series, do it now! Jemma is a rare treasure of an author; you will get swept up in her stories and her characters. You won’t regret starting this series!
3.5 stars - I enjoyed this book once I got through two to three chapters. Too many names and relationships were thrown about and it got confusing. Granted, I started with book six instead of the first book of the series but still... Thankfully, once they got to the main storyline, things got better.
I love the friendships in this...between the women and the men. Several laugh-out-loud moments on both sides and, of course, with the main couple Rico and Lennie. It took me a little bit to warm up to Rico as I thought his initial expectations were ridiculous. (The scene that stands out the most is when he chides Lennie for her fear of flying since he is flying the plane. Dude! Her fear has nothing to do with your aviation skills....get over yourself!!) Any whoo.... that scene rubbed me wrong but he did make up for it later. I'm definitely going to read the other books in the series, especially book 7, which is Abe and Elise's book. Their budding relationship in this book was a hoot to read.
New author for me I absolutely loved this book. The dynamics between Rico and Lenore were one of the best I've ever read. I love how Lenore had real world issues that happen to many women but I esp loved how manly and tough Rico was yet so sincere and open with his wants, needs, desires and feelings how he was so devoted to her happiness which in turn fueled his own. The connection was so real it was hard to remember it was only a book. A sign of a great talented author. The other characters were also real, dynamic, well rounded and rich. The settings were thoroughly detailed as well as the work environment. The plot twists were awesome and the drama excitement suspense were off the charts entertaining. Book grabs your interest and doesn't let go. Wish I could give it a higher rating like 5 stars ++ I highly recommend this book.
Rico is Alaska Security's pilot. Lennie came to Alaska looking for excitement and escape her self doubts planted by her ex. Rico is hiding from his own self esteem issues stemming from his past. He plans to avoid her until he learns she's afraid of him. When they are sent to the lower 48 to close up an office, he makes his move. As she finds her courage and inner sex goddess, they stumble across a threat to all of the women of intel. As the action heats so does their relationship. Abe and Elise (presumably next couple in the series) add to the intrigue. We also get a sneak peak at woman who likely will bring Vincent, head of GHOST to his knees.
She came with the other women from Cincinnati and she always walks with her head down she was ill treated by men in the past but she always watches one man Rico Alaskan Security's resident Pilot and playboy who doesn't want a long term relationship until Lennie can't seem to stay out of his path. I would recommend this book and series for mature readers only (sexual content) that enjoy reading stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic.
It seems the threat to Alaskan Security has been neutralized and the it’s past time to clear out the Cincinnati office since all the employees have moved on, coincidentally, Rico and Abe are available to accompany Lennie and Elise, the women they’ve been flirting with. But someone doesn’t seem to want Lennie and Elise to take anything away from Cincinnati, sending the intel team on the hunt.
Through no real fault of the outing, this reader didn’t enjoy the closed, incestuous coupling environment much. To my taste, the series has become too cookie cutter. Rating:3.75stars
I was expecting nothing from this couple and Bang!… I loved it, actually these two can be my favourite pair in this series! Maybe bcs I’m spanish and Rico sounded pretty similar to how real spanish men are, we don’t know nothing about personal space and that can sound and feel very scary for american women, but it’s just like that here… Still, some of the spanish sentences are wrong like in many books, I don’t really understand why, all the authors have facebook pages where I’m sure they can ask for help from spanish readers,
Good book, with a lot of intern dialogue but good,
Lennie and Rico observed each other from a far until they were thrown together when the Investigative Resources office needed to be shut down in Ohio. Lennie came to Alaska to do scary things and to her, nothing is scarier than Rico. Rico came to Alaska to escape and find adventure, unbeknownst to him the best adventure is Lennie. The plot continues with some shady things at the office, the banter and writing are fire, and the spice is spicier than ever. Enjoy!
Wow. You will not be able to walk away from the world Jemma Westbrook has created in Alaskan Security. The storyline, as usual, is great. The intimacy between the Rico and Lennie is tangible. Their connection is deep. Not just physically. You feel the passion they have for each other. Add in Elise and Abe aggravating one another and you will be thoroughly entertained throughout the suspense.
Not sure on this one. This one felt like there were spots where crucial details were missed, but rather than rewrite it, a quick paragraph was just used to fill in the gap. Also a smidge disappointed there wasn't more back story on Rico and Lenny. They had issues, but the explanations in the book left me wondering why 1 bad boyfriend and 1 loser ex-wife would ruin their entire attitudes about love. I loved the first 5, so was a little bereft this one left me asking what the heck happened.
I love the teams MaLaysia and thought I had a favourite, but that has all changed. Rick & Lennie have went to the top of list. This she girl is not what she seems & Rick spotted that early on. The chemistry between these two is sizzling.
Like all the books the girls kinda give you a false sense of who they are, for be decieved, these are kick was females. If you have not read this series you are missing out.
I always give a little cheer when I find an author that gives my fussy reader self all the things I look for in a book. Exciting situations, check, lots of thrilling subterfuge, check, sexy alpha H, check, sweet but strong h, check, immediate, magnetic attraction, check, hot sizzling interaction, check, and the biggest draw of all, respect between the MC‘s, check check. I’m going to read everything this author wrote and probably stalk her on social media. This book was that good.
This was a just ok. Which is surprising as I loved the first 5 in the series. But this had a slow start. I was 40% in and getting bored with the lack of action when something finally happened. Then the hero’s insta-love and character 180° nearly gave me whiplash. Hard to connect to the these characters so I was a bit disappointed overall. I’ll probably read the rest as hopefully this is an anomaly.
This book is so good and so H.O.T.!!! Lennie (Lenore to Rico said with a sexy accent lol) is scared of everything and Rico is only scared of commitment. Lennie moved to Alaska for excitement (which she’s had in spades) and to change her way of living in fear. These to are perfect for each other and had me laughing out loud constantly. This one is action packed, suspenseful, and super steamy. I think it’s my favorite book of this series so far.
