Maria Dolan should be listed, along with Kathryn True, as a co-author of this book.

I got a copy when it first came out. I love the tidbits of Seattle history, geology, flora and fauna in it. Without question Dead Horse Canyon was the best discovery that came out of the book for me. I spent many hours with my small son is this glade.

This is really cool. Nature in the City: Seattle: Walks Hikes Wildlife Natural Wonders isn't a book I'd read straight through, but it will draw you in. It functions as a reference -- one with fascinating stories and details not only about Seattle's current natural environment, but also about the city's natural and human history. I feel inspired to become much more closely acquainted with the place I live. Want to join me for a walk?

this was disappointing. It's not that there isn't good information in there, there is. It's just, well, not what I was expecting I guess. I thought there'd be more walks. The information was often lacking. wanted to learn about some new walks and hikes, and perhaps some great wildlife tidbit I didn't already know, but really it was just more of the same. Perhaps it's better for someone who doesn't live here.

I had a lot of fun reading this book and finding out little bits of trivia about Seattle's natural environment. I especially enjoyed the info about North Seattle Community College's interesting history since I live near there. I found this tobe more of a dip-in-and-peruse book and less of a "where shall I hike and what will I see" reference book.

Fun book to find new places to explore. There is a frog pond in our neighborhood, that I didn't know about until I saw it in this book.

We haven't visited all the sites mentioned yet, but so far it is really useful in pointing out some great places to visit that are just around the corner.
