The Love Vixen #7

Mistaken for Love

Rate this book
Dear Love Vixen:

I've been a little ... down on my luck. (Like flat broke, homeless, and depressed). So my uncle has been letting me crash at his place and deliver coffee for his diner. It was temporary. Till I got on my feet.

Anyway, I delivered coffee to this uber-hot executive type on Madison, and well ... mistakes were made. He thought I was his intern! And he put me to work. And I've always kinda wanted to work in advertising so I didn't correct him.

I've been interning there now for two weeks, and the thing is, I think there's something developing between me and the hot boss. And I love this job (it'd be better if I was getting paid, of course). But when he finds out I'm not who he thinks I am, and that I never bothered to correct him, it'll all be over!

What should I do?

Mistaken Identity on Madison

Dear Madison,

What the whaaat? First it has to be said, “You go girl!” There I said it, now let’s break it down. You’ve been working for two weeks and are still fake employed, so that says you’re doing well at your fake job. I suppose you could just stop showing up but you don’t sound like the kind of woman to ghost.

Having the hots for your boss, now that’s a real pickle. Sweetie, you know what you have to do. Tell the truth and it will set you free. You just might want to check with the coffee shop as plan B should your truth set you back on the sidewalk.

Good luck, hon!

I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.

I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)

I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! My favorite place in all the world is next to you...

This story was a tribute to escapism. It was a delightful read and will make you smile and take you away from reality. We all need that at one time or another. Bryce and Ginny were adorable together. Also their chemistry was supernova hot.

Ginny has experienced an overload of heartache losing her parents. She was taken in by her Aunt and Uncle and worked at their bodega to make some money. When delivering coffee to a company, there was a huge mistaken identity. Ginny's error was not coming clean and telling the truth about who she really was at the beginning. Ginny found herself getting deeper into the lie and to make things even more complicated, she was falling hard for her boss Bryce.

Bryce was struggling personally himself. His main goal in life was to take over his dad's company when he retired. He was focused on trying to impress his father, but realized he was fighting a losing battle.

Following their journey was heart wrenching but so worth it when they finally get their HEA that they both deserved.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Mistaken for Love by Delaney Stewart is book 7 in the Love Vixen series by various authors. Each book is a standalone with the common theme of writing a letter to the Love Vixen for help for all kinds of reasons.

When Gin is delivering coffee she is mistaken for someone else, and intern and put to work. When the boss, Bryce, handsome, sexy, driven shows Gin the marketing project he proposes to help him make CEO when his dad retires, they hit the ground running. The longer they work together the more the sparks fly but the secrets Gin is keeping could derail no only her “job” but the relationship that’s developing.

Mistaken identity, secrets, lies, sparks, laughter, painful past and maybe finding love…only time will tell.

This was a very enjoyable, charming book. Was it believable? Not even close! If you can just overlook the fact that she never had to go to HR in person to sign paperwork as a new employee, then you'll enjoy this one as well.

Ginny (Gin) has had a very hard last year. The poor girl lost her parents in an accident, had all her money frozen, had to drop out of college, lost her home and is now living with her aunt/uncle working at their bodega in NYC. She's delivering coffee to an a marketing firm when she's mistaken for the new intern. Instead of correcting them, she goes with it for the day, planning on not continuing with the charade. But of course, that's not what happens since she does such a great job at work that she decides to continue that ruse. It doesn't help that her boss is hot and she's attracted to him.

I adored Bryce. He was the perfect Hero in this book. He was kind, encouraging, smart and charming. He wasn't what I expected (the typical alpha jerk) - he actually cared about the people he worked with and didn't view himself as better than them just because his dad owned the company he was trying to lead one day. Sure, he made me cry when he got upset later on in the book, but I can't blame him too much given the situation.

I loved Bryce & Gin together. They were such a perfectly-matched couple with a lot of chemistry. They seemed like a couple I could see together in real life and one I'd want to be friends with. Even though they both came from money, they were still humble and down-to-earth. The epilogue was perfect!

My only complaint is that the situation with Bryce's dad seemed wrapped up really quickly and we never really learn why he always mocked and demeaned Bryce. It went beyond just being hard on him, he was legitimately hateful to Bryce and had no respect for him. Do I didn't buy his apologies. And the co-worker issue was also kind of forgotten. Why did she feel she had to be with the dad? She went from being really smarmy to crying about it at one point and I wasn't finding the persona change to be genuine.

I haven't read the other books in this series (by multiple authors, but can all be read as standalones), but I'll definitely be going back to catch up.

I loved this story. The way Stewart portrayed the main characters’ growing feelings for each other while also the slow ratcheting up of the tension around the inevitable reveal of Ginny’s duplicity was delicious perfection. Bryce is a manager at a company owned by his dad. He’s hoping to be made CEO when his dad retires and believes landing a specific client will get him there. Ginny’s life was derailed a year ago when her parents died in an automobile accident. She had to quit college and is living and working with her aunt and uncle. Ginny delivers coffee and bagels to Bryce’s company one morning and in the process is mistaken for an intern. She goes along with it and thus starts building her precarious web of lies. I can certainly see the draw of pretending just for a little bit that your life might not be as painful and horrid as it feels like it is. This story gave me all the feels - laughter, tears, cheering, cringing, swooning, and heart squeezes. There is growth for both Bryce and Ginny on their way to their HEA as they each deal with their wounds from their past. This was a fun, sweet and heart warming story with very little angst. While I love reading romances for the HEA, when real life issues are included - like parent abandonment and death and the scars those experiences leave - it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. Stewart did this perfectly here. This is book 7 in the Love Vixen series by various authors and it is a standalone. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series but this one is hands down my favorite.

I received a free copy of the book for my honest review.

Gin & Bryce have such chemistry! I enjoyed the build up of their relationship as well as the added tension of (a) the boss/intern relationship and (b) the mistaken identity. While the situation is kind of out there realistically, it was easy to turn off the logic brain and enjoy the journey to love.

Main story aside, Delancey excels at making the side characters as interesting as the main characters. I wanted to hang out with Gin's BFF, get hugs from her Aunt & Uncle, and have a drink in Bryce's brother's bar.

Mistaken for Love is a charming addition to the Love Vixen series. Whether you've read others in the series or not, it's a lovely read.

I completely devoured Mistaken For Love, I couldn't put it down! I just loved Bryce and Gin so much!

Gin has been having a hard time of late. Her parents sadly died in a accident and due to financial issues surrounding this she had to drop out of school and doesn't have a penny to her name. Thankfully her Aunt and Uncle helped her out with a place to stay and a job.

Bryce works for his father, is hoping one day to take over from him but it's not all plain sailing for him either.

A case of mistaken identity happens when Gin tries to deliver Bryce's lunch and she gets mistaken for his new interin! Things get even more complicated when both start to have feelings for each other!

I loved this feel good rom com and enjoyed every minute of it!  Another 5 star winner from one of my favourite authors. Oh and I am kinda hoping Carter, Bryce's  brother might get his own story!

I really enjoyed this story! It is a great addition to the Love Vixen series (the advice is perfect and the epilogue is awesome).

Bryce is adorably perfect as the H/Boss!!! His drive to prove himself doesn’t get in the way of him showing his true nature. Gin has a heartbreaking backstory, but a strong support system to help her through. Together, they are a great pair (in and out of the office)!

I’m a big Delancey Stewart fan and am a happy member of her Fancy Team. This book was sent for free to review. I am sharing my honest thoughts and hope you enjoy the book as much as I did!

I really love the Love Vixen stories and Delancey Stewart did not disappoint!! Gin and Bryce are great together. I really like how their relationship progressed. Gin was only delivering coffee and bagels to a company. When she gets there, they mistaken her for an intern. She lets the lie continue but actually helps with a marketing presentation. When the truth gets out, things don't look too good for Gin. What a great story!!! I read it in one sitting!!

Finding peace

I am addicted and this book had me in tears for the pain Gin was experiencing and also the joy she found at the expense of someone else. Shoot they both did and the peace of being together warmed my heart.

Just remember if it makes your soul happy, never let it go.

Delancey Stewart has written a book that is perfect for the Love Vixen series. This book was about a girl who has had a lot of heartbreak in her young years. Seeing a way out of being down and depressed, she pretends to be an intern and while working for free, falls for her boss. But there are ups and downs in her life and misleading everyone could have disastrous results. While not finishing college until later in life, I related to Gin and cheered when things went well, and cried along with her when life wasn’t going her way. With a little nudge with the Love Vixen, friends and family, we are promised an Happily Ever After.

I thought this romance was wickedly fun and sinfully cute! The storyline was the perfect combination of drama, humor, heart and zaniness to snag my attention and make me want to steal every spare second I could reading just a few more pages. The feels are plentiful here in this feel good romance that will warm your heart and put a big smile on your face. I am posting an independent, impartial review.

Mistaken for Love - Delancey Stewart. This is a great read, well developed characters, a well written story and enough spice to keep things interesting.
It was a book that I had a hard time putting down, so I did burn through it pretty quickly.
Bryce and Gin were great together, and I loved the meet cute and how the story begins. Their relationship dives deeper as they get to know each other and share their pasts with each other to bring them much closer together than either of them could imagine. The attraction was there, but they do seem to really want the best for each other.

Always a good read from this author, and I recommend this book for a quick read (just because you won't be able to put it down and the story and writing flows so well) it's fairly light and fun and sweet.
Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this book. Gin had the worst year ever and I can’t blame her for wanting to escape her life. Bryce was easy to fall for. He’s genuine, caring, and pretty to look at. Despite their trust issues, they had such great chemistry and I rooted for them the whole time!

Another amazing book from author Delancey Stewart, but that's nothing less than I've come to expect. Brilliant stories with original plot lines that flow seamlessly and have plenty of surprising plot twists and a terrific ending!!🥰🥰🥰 You never get anything that's not worth reading from this author, frankly I've never been disappointed and I've read a majority of her books now.

It hit me in all the feels and I was sucked right into this story. So much sorrow and fun mistakes all at once. I was intrigued and had a hard time putting it down. The love Vixen surely knows what to say about a strange situation but getting the advice is not the same as listing to it. I sure know that situation…

It’s fast paced and an easy summer read, don’t miss out.

~3.5⭐Rating~

What started out as a regular coffee run soon turns into one epic case of mistaken identity, however for the first time in a long time Ginny is finally like she belongs which is why she carries on pretending to be the intern, after all she isn't hurting anyone. But what happens when Ginny begins to develop feeling for her new boss Bryce?

••

Bryce is trying to work hard to prove to his father that he is indeed worthy of taking over the family business. The last thing he was expecting was to have his new intern be so alluring much less so brilliant at her job, but there is something off about her. What will happen when he finally realizes who Ginny truly is?

••

This was a really nice fast read. If the office romance is a trope you like, Ginny and Bryce are just the couple for you! I will say that the story did move a bit fast and was a tiny bit unrealistic but that didn't take away from a great little read!

••

I loved the connection between both main characters and that they kind of just clicked. But gosh did my heart hurt for Ginny, life really hasn't been kind to her. Even though she lost both parents and the entire world she was used to she still had such a great warmth about her.

••

I absolutely loved that Bryce and that he was completely different from the general alphaholes that we normally get. Bryce was genuinely a great guy that cared about the people he worked with.

••

Overall Mistaken For Love was a nice insta love office romance that can be read as a standalone story or with the rest of The Love Vixens series. Definitely a cute fast read!

What a sweet, fun story! In part, it's nostalgic for me because I was in NYC and advertising during my younger years and the late nights and camaraderie between all of us working on new business pitches felt familiar as described in this story (although a 1am -3 am stop time was more likely!)

That said, I really thought that the story between Bryce and Gin was sweet. This felt "new adult" to me in that they behaved and acted young. Gin is 23 though so that is to be expected. There are many holes in the story (Gin got a job as an intern because of mistaken identify and the actual intern just happened to not show up; there wasn't any paperwork from human resources to confirm her identity?) But overall, I smiled a lot at the young love and while I kept shaking my head at the lack of maturity (come on, you don't tell your employer that you're not actually who they hired to intern at the company?) suspending disbelief came more easily because in general, I liked the characters. I liked the supporting cast as well. I received an early copy of this book and recommend it as a low angst and sweet romance featuring a young main couple.

I enjoyed reading this book. I thought the connection between Bryce and Gin was realistic and sweet. The whole mistaken identity aspect was nice, but I didn’t understand why it was such a big deal. He wasn’t her boss and she tried telling him a few times and he stopped her or an accident occurred. His reaction upset me, especially because he didn’t even give her a chance to explain. She was wrong to not tell him sooner, and I was irritated that she waited.

Bryce is a determined man and he is trying to make his dad proud. I found his dad to be horrible, but I appreciated their conversation near the end of the book. Gin had a lot of heartbreak in her life and found it hard to let anyone in. Once they started working together they clicked and couldn’t stop thinking about the other. I adored his attempt at getting a second chance.

Overall, I liked this book but found the waffling in both their parts to be tiring. I also didn’t like the lies and reactions they had. Her family was great. The intimate scenes were hot. I would like to read more about this couple. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

"You're also really beautiful." Her head snapped to look at me, and her eyes met mine. "And I'm having trouble remembering that we work together. That it's not right for me to keep thinking about you. Wondering..."

Technically, Ginny does NOT work for Bryce. In a a case of mistaken identity gone extreme, Ginny is doing a job she isn't getting paid for, that she loves. Ginny has had a tough time, to say the least. This job? She doesn't want to give it up. The budding relationship with Bryce? She doesn't want to give that up either.

Bryce is fighting an internal battle. His closeness to Gin on this work project has been great and a challenge in self control. He's not his father - who takes advantage of his position of power. But this is proving to be more and more difficult.

As secrets often don't stay secret, this is exactly what happens with Ginny. Things start to implode and she is left to figure out what to do with her life.

Great story with great characters!

It’s been a hard year for Gin. One full of changes. Her parents were killed in a freak car crash on an icy bridge and the fault was laid at her father’s feet effectively tying up the estate due to lawsuits. In a moment she lost her parents, her home and her funding to complete her education. She has been forced to move to Queens to live with her aunt and uncle who own a bodega/deli in NYC. She works in the bodega behind the counter and making deliveries to nearby businesses. One morning she delivers coffee and bagels to a marketing firm Maximal. She’s mistaken for a newly hired intern and put to work. She figures what the heck? She’ll just work today and then tell them the mistake. But she falls in love with the work and learns she’s actually really good at it!
The charade continues for weeks while she and her boss get closer and closer while working together until she realizes she doesn’t want to reveal her true identity.
What should she do?
An intriguing modern love story by Delaney Stewart.

Gin has had a rough year - her parents die in a terrible car crash, a lawsuit forces her to drop out of school and move in with her aunt and uncle in NYC and she has largely suffered in silence, with no friends in NYC. When she is mistaken for an intern at Bryce’s company, she feels a spark of life inside her for the first time in so long, she does not correct the mistake. All of the sudden, people are interested in her ideas and she has a chance to create positive relationships. What is more, she is so attracted to Bryce, something her broken heart never thought would happen. But the longer the lie goes on, the worse the outcome could be for both of them.

I liked the emphasis on family in this book. Gin and Bryce are both kind ambitious people who want the best for everyone around them.

This book is part of the Love Vixen series. I have only read the first book, not the others, but I felt like this book worked as a stand alone.

I read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This was a light quick read. It did have one of my biggest pet peeves in a romance novel though. This whole thing could have been resolved with a single conversation, but Gin kept putting it off, over and over again. Eventually it blew up in her face like I knew it would. Her reasons for putting it off were never really valid, and she actually got mad at her best friend for telling her that's what she should do. It was made out to be like she couldn't do it because of the trauma she suffered the last year, but that just felt like an excuse to me. Bryce reacted the exact way I knew he would, although he did have a pretty quick turn around. I did like Gin's connection with her aunt and uncle, and I felt like they were good people. The ending was sweet, and these 2 do get their HEA. If postponed conversations don't bother you, then this will be a good read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

After the death of her parents Ginny has no choice but to withdraw from college however, she would have been homeless and jobless if it wasn’t for her aunt and uncle. When she showed up at a company with a breakfast delivery, she doesn’t correct them when they believe she is their new intern and that is when the difficulties really begin.

Bryce wants to assume control of the company that is owned by his father however he knows before that he can happen he needs to show him that he is capable. Ginny soon proves herself to be an asset but when truths are revealed will they be able to overcome how it all began?

Even though we knew that Ginny and Bryce were in for a rocky road as you see the chemistry and connection between them you know that a love like theirs is too strong to be denied.
